  5. Well On my pre-oped diet the 2nd day and I am doing a lot better, I had some made soap my hubby made for me, and made jello, And adding a tiny 2 inch banana to my protein shakes helps so much! But i am seeing and feeling the cravings for starches today. crackers, fries, stuffing..lol it is all hard... thought if i wasn't hungry i would not want those foods.. wrong!

I am learning to live for him and in the process he is blessing me with so many options and new things. I am glad he has blessed me just to be able to have these opportunities given to me.   8. Been adding 1/2 scoop of protein powder to my sugar free chocolate pudding cups and having them in between meals when I get hungry for a snack - and BAM - it does the trick! Not only does it help me feel full till mealtime, but it gives me more energy!

  9. ok, so - i made a question thing out of curiosity, but in typical me fashion i wasn't entirely clear. so, the "question" is Dating. yeah, it's a one word question. i ask because i'm toying with the idea of giving the whole dating thing a try and figured i'd do a little poll to see what others think of dating .. specifically, is it worth the effort or is it overrated .. feel free to add an answer option.

  12. I have been way too busy. Here is an update. I ahve finished all my testing and my last pre-surgery visit with my surgeon. I have a DATE. Wednesday April 27, 2011. I am so excited. I have been drinking my protein shakes as instructed. Getting everything ready for Wednesday. So excited will post later.

  14. Meet with my endocrinologist today to discuss the Lap Band VS Bypass. He suggested the Lap Band because it seems a better option for me at this point and he said he happy that I have decided to figure out a way to stop the cycle of obesity in my family. My mother is 350lbs 5'7 my father was 210lbs 6'2 and all of my maternal uncles, aunts, and cousins are obese. I am breaking the cycle and ready to make a change.     I'm doing well.

     

    My throat is still sore and I do have occasional gas, but otherwise I'm doing great. I'm having trouble getting down the protein shakes...All I really want to eat is broth and ice chips!

     

    How are you doing now? Are you going out? Driving? Still on Pain meds?

     

    Unfortunately I'm dealing with healing and a broken water pipe that has flooded the downstairs where I sleep and use the computer. I've relocated upstairs and using a wireless computer...but the power keeps going out due to all the equipment the water restoration people have set up to dry up the flood. Why couldnt the pipe have waited a week or two before busting? Just my luck to have it happen day 2 home from the hospital!

    do you have to wait because of insurance requirements? How many pre-op support meetings are they requiring you to do? Where are you going for them?

    It's still really novel but I like it so far. Most people seem to get back on their feet faster than I did but I am also older and had a stricter liquid phase. Today was my first day adding in food (day 15) and it is also a stricter diet than what I see on the message board. I started taking 2 Optifast like drinks a day and just 2 tablespoons of egg or soft cheese 3 times a day at mealtimes. I'm supose to build to 6-8 tablespoons a meal and expand on the foods beginning with proteins and then adding in veggies. I know this sounds terrible but actually I don't mind it. I think I'm OK with it for 3 reasons. First, because I did do Optifast for 12 weeks a long time ago---this doesn't seem as hard compared to that. 2nd--the band is REALLY helping with it. So far I don't have any cravings. I did feel hunger on the 2 weeks of clear liquids (250 calories a day!) but because of my Optifast memories --I was able to hold on. The 3rd thing that makes this easier for me (so far!) is that I found out yesterday that I lost 11 lbs in those 2 weeks of clear liquid. My MD told me yesterday that I can keep this as low carb and as low calorie as I want so I have elected to be REALLY strict. I'm hoping to lose at least another 45 lbs by Sept. That will be tough.

  20. At Block Party/BBQ yesteday There was food all around me plus cakes/cookies and alcohol. I had my protein shakes, water, crystal light and broth that I packed. I survived it from 4-11p

  23. So its day 2 of my liquid diet...yesterday I had added a little milk ice and a banana with the protein powder and put it in the blender. It was so much better...I think I am going to do that in the morning and at night. That keeps me full and it is still liquid.

  24. Currently, I am 171 pds...I am 5' 10. My bandiversay is 3/28/08...My forth anniversay is approaching. I have maintained my weight very welll but I really need get healthier got to eat more protein....

  25. :unsure:After researching, second guessing and just plain scared for over a year, I finally did it. I was banded on Sept. 5, 2008. So far so good. I am sore and suffering from severe gas, but other than that discomfort, all is well. Now the hard part begins, a liquid diet and exercise.

     

    I am surprised that I have the energy to walk because I wouldn't think that water, protein broth and shakes and sugar free popsickles could provide enough nuitrition, but I feel fine.

     

    I am still sore, so I haven't been able to work up to :30 walks, but I take several 10 minute walks throughout the day.
