Hey. I'm in AA as well. Just passed my 5 year "birthday" I quit smoking 2 years ago, and quit the pot 3 years ago. Food is my last addiction and it's the hardest cause you can't go cold turkey. I got the band last Tuesday. There have been a few evening (my binging hours) where I had foods I should not be having so soon out of post op. I didn't get sick from them, but managed to stop before I brought on a world of hurt with a real binge. I believe the head games for us food addicts will be the real challenge. The band is a great tool that will allow us to really really rethink how and what we eat, but as my sponsor said, we all play whack a mole (the game where you hit a mole down and another one pops up) with our addictions. That empty, what do I do with this time that I would normally spend drinking, smoking, getting stones, or eating. Its created a void, or rather it's show us the void that brought us to these behaviors in the first place. I believe it's up to us to find a healthy way to fill that void. A new craft, exercise, a class of some sort. Any type of healthy passion. This is a rocky one for me too.

hello youre story sounds similar to mine have been sober just a little over 3 years stopped smoking a little over a year and a half ago. was overweight the whole time. got banded sep 17 08. I still stuggle with head hunger. Maybe if journaling like writing down how much and when you eat. i know its hard for me to make a habit of new things. My sponser {a.a.} thought i should wait on being banded . Ive lost 44lbs so far sorry I dont know the metric conversion. Hope this helps

Take boiled chicken, throw it in the food processor add celery, onion, spices, then take 2tbls. Lite mayo and 1/4 cup FF Greek plain yogurt. Mix together to consistency you need or like. Delicious and better than all that mayo! This made my day since I am in the puréed week. Made larger batch to eat tomorrow or 4th of July picnic! Hope you enjoy!

Good Morning Everyone! Here it is a week later and I'm feeling a lot better about things. I'm going to get my fill today and this year is going to be a new year for me. A hell of a year for me!!! My mom is getting married in June and I plan to be atleast 2 dress sizes smaller by then. I think that's a feasible goal. Thank you to everyone who had kind words for me and all those who read and felt my pain. Skinny:whoo:

I was banded on 5-21-07. I have been lucky enough thus far to not have experienced the "gas pains" everyone has refered to. Since yesterday morning, I have had a stabbing pain under my left rib cage. It's awful. It hurts to breathe. When I take a deep breath, the pain shoots all over and I also have a dull achy sensation in my back. Does anyone know what this could be? Is this gas pain? Would it show up almost 4 weeks post-op with no prior symptoms? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I bought some wedges also. I also bought a cute little top in the juniors section at kmart. I think it was by selina gomez. Omg, really!! But what the heck, if I can fit into it, im gonna wear it. Thanks hummingbird, I will keep it in mind. im basically just trying to get a little bit of a base tan so that I dont get all kinds of different tan lines like I did last summer. It was a free week, so I prob wont go after that

Thank you for sharing your story. I'm getting my band on January 14. It's done outpatient here, I'll go home the same day. Just three more days. : > (P.S. Some protein shake ideas: add a Crystal Light Sunrise orange packet to vanilla for an "orange julius." Or add malt (a powder found by the chocolate syrups in the grocery store) for fabulous malts (chocolate in my favorite). It adds just 3 grams sugar per tbls.

Hi Magii.... I am in same situation as you. I just found out this Friday (10/10/08) that my band had slipped. My Dr didnt tell me to go on liquids, etc. he just told me to try not to gain weight since I got a total unfill. I have been eating the same as I was when I had a fill HOWEVER I am noticeably hungry and really have to watch myself. I have to go back in 3 weeks for another flouroscopy and see if part of my stomach went under the band again. Do you have to go back in one or two weeks? Did your Dr tell you what is next? I'm assuming that if there is no change in my slip I will have to have a revision. Hope you are doing well and wonder if you heard from anyone else who has had a slipped band and if they went on liquids or continued on solids. Angie Banded 3/29/06 down 75 lbs

I think you should ask your doctor to be more specific as to what he wants you on and for how long ? each doc is different. My doc requires 3 days of each phase (Clear Liquids , full liquids, mushies , semi solids ) after each FILL and unfill no matter what ) others require no liquids , others requires 24 hours and so on . So I think you should ask your doc to be specific ! mindy

Can't fit my clothes post 360 abdominalplasty.
lark60 replied to lark60's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I went to my 1 month follow up with the plastic surgeon and asked him several questions. He said the swelling is normal for the first few months because of all the skin that was removed (10 inches around the front and 8 inches around the back) so the lymphatic system has to grow new channels through the new area under the incision. This can also cause Water retention in the hips, thighs and calf area if I am on my feet too much. He also told me that at the 3 month follow up, if I am not happy with any areas, we can talk about "fine tuning" the areas with liposuction or trimming more skin (no extra charge for touch ups). That made me feel better about my concerns. I just need to be patient and take things easy for another month at least so the swelling will stay minimal. So sweat pants for another month before I try to get back into my jeans and dress pants. -
I noticed on the talk board people talking about PBing, what is this? I'm new to the site so I haven't had a chance to really look around. But, one of the reasons I'm here is to find out if anyone else ever has issues like below: Today for lunch I had a piece of chicken and some sliced carrorts with almonds. I will say I ate really quickly, but now I have the worst pain in my lower back and I feel really gassy right above the band. What in the world is causing this? I've noticed this is happening more and more lately; at least once a week. Is something wrong or am I'm just plain eating to fast and gulping in a bunch of air? It really hurts.

I walk away and come back and all is better. When you start eating take a bite, wait 3-5 minutes and take another. Sometimes if Im having trouble I get up and clean the dishes , get drinks or little kitchen errand type activities until my stoma relaxes. Sometimes I start the dryer or fold a load of clothes and then all is ok.

My God Leatha, I cried when I read your post! How true, how true! Greg said something about LBT a few weeks ago, and I want to steal his thoughts regarding this weekend. You know how you get in a group of people and some personalities tend to clash??? That didnt happen this weekend! Everyone was equal. No competition, no proving to be better, no blacksheep.... just pure honest genuine people! Almost like a movie where strangers from different areas come together and their lives are changed. I know mine is! The stories that were shared were so touching. I feel honored knowing all 6 of these beautiful women. -

I was banded in Puerto Vallarta by Dr.Joya. I was a total of 250 lbs my highest but when i came to Dr.Joya i was at 200LB. my bmi was 33. But because i was on meds for my sleeping and also high blood pressure ,which all came from not being able to lose these last 50lbs they accepted me. I paid $7000.00 for all. and had my own room all was very nice. I was up and walking fast about 3 hours after my surgery. My scars are very sm. loving that.and i didnt have to take any of the pain meds that was giving to me by the hospital. I was banded on 13th of april 09. Take care. -

Congrad's on ur surgery & proud of you I'm supposed to go May 18th to Dr Zapata. Can you tell me about his pain meds. I read that he doesn't give any. Please tell me that he atleast give you Tylenol 3. Please. I can't even deal with a pain of a headache. Not that I ever have any pain. But I'm worried if I'm in pain I want something.
