    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

Count me IN!!!!! My revision is very superficial. I will have it done Monday and plan to keep going without much problem. Kathy, I have not taken Dylan to the doctor, but I probably will on Monday. I really think it is ok, but I want our Dr to look at it just to be sure. Even being a nurse, I don't like burns..

    May Bandsters!

Hi there I will try to answer your questions but remember all doctors seem to vary in these thoughts so you really do need to ask your doctor to be sure of how he wants you to proceed!!!!! Will the connection for refills stick out? MY DOCTOR USES A LOW PROFILE BUT DEPENDING ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS YOU MIGHT NEED A REVISION Do they have to cut you again when they refill? NO, IT IS DONE BY USING AN ULTRASOUND TO LOCATE YOUR PORT AND THEY USE A NEEDLE WITH SALINE TO INJECT IT THROUGH THE PORT How soon is a refill? DEPENDS ON YOUR DOCTOR MINE IS 6 -8 WEEKS AFTER SURGERY How long after surgery can you have sex? MY DOCTOR SAYS 4 WEEKS AND THEN A LESS STRESSFUL POSITION FOR THE BANDED PATIENT I did not know that I would be restricted on driving. How long? ONE WEEK OR AS LONG AS YOU ARE ON PRESCRIPTION PAIN MEDICINE ( I STARTED DRIVING YESTERDAY A LITTLE BIT BUT, I STOPPED PAIN MEDS 3 DAYS POST OP)

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

The Dr office just called and is rescheduling my revision. My Dr has a sick baby. We go to church with Dylan's doctor and I talked to him about Dylan's burn yesterday. He said that we are doing the right stuff and that it will heal. Burns just take a long time. I knew this, but the reassurance was, well, reassuring. The worst spot on the burn is starting to get smaller. It really looks better in the past 24 hours. Welcome Carol! I love your excitemen and enthusiasm! YOu will do great on your run!! Welcome back Mamato!! So good to hear from you. Good luck on your run today!!! I have missed you! Ok, as for me, I am going to weigh at the Dr office today to see what my muscle/fat ratio is and how I've done since my fill. I am hoping for a good weight loss. It's been awhile since I have lost weight. I don't know what to do about my running. Like usual, I ran and ran and ran until I can't stand the thought of getting on the treadmill to run. Why do I push myself to that point everytime!! I have got to do this running thing in moderation. I ran like 50 miles in 2 weeks, and then just quit. I can't keep up that pace and burn out. Oh, I need some balance. GRRRR.

    Labor Day Challenge 2012

Challenge start weight July 4 - 219 Original GW 199 Revised GW 189.9 CW 189.3!!! Very happy with my results. I did not expect to lose at this pace. I am on to the Halloween challenge... And have no idea what to expect about how fast the weight will come off! Congrats to everyone on their hard work.
  5. As always, this board is an amazing source of inspiration! I always get so excited looking through the new photos. I'm currently past my goal and in the process of firming up and maybe losing just a few more. Also preparing for a port revision, as my flat-ish tummy now makes my port look like a large golfball growing under my skin. Not so pretty. On a side note, I can't believe how few photos I have at my heaviest... Ahh, the world of digital photography; I look fat in that photo? DELETE! lol So I have some slim pickings from my preop weight. I haven't seemed to lose my love of black tank tops though, hmm...

    June 2007 Bandsters

I do a full 48 hours liquids after a PB and not from self-discipline. I feel my stomach needs that time to recover. I'm really good at not PBing these days. I really have learnt to slow down and chew and pick foods that work. NValicia - that is truly outstanding and you must have worked hard. I must say you deserved a great result like that.I remember when you got your port revision. I didn't want anything to go wrong for any of us and felt so bad for you. I can't believe how much your BMI has dropped. Inspirational!

    Mexico on my own

I had a band to sleeve revision last week....and went to Mexicali alone and back. Couple of things: Call your airline now and tell them you will need a wheelchair. It's easier to have it in your record then to do it at the last minute. If you don't need it....no problem. I totally agree- PACK LIGHT Say hello to other patients on the floor...I made a couple of great new pals while I was there. Lots of folks had laptops with them...find out if your hospital has wireless.... Pack a book. Be totally willing to ask for help and remember that most people are willing to be helpful if they know what you need... Have a safe and healthy journey....will keep you in my prayers. Adios!!
  8. Guys I think I'm going to revise my goal weight. 30 more pounds might be too much more to loose, especially if my neck starts to look drawn. I know that this weight is still obese in fact morbidly obese but Id need to loose 40 more bls to be correct weight and even my doctor said thats probably too much. I vow not to get carried away with this weightloss thing though. Next thing you know I'll have to start looking for a plastic surgeon ! -106 lbs

Lucky #7 are still going strong !!!

I would love to get a revision. when the girls are off of my insurance and I could afford the 'full' coverage, I am going to check into it. Otherwise, when I get my band paid for, 4 years and 2 months, I will get a loan for revision. I need a fill also, but I also need to deal with the head hungries. I'm finding myself eating even when I'm not really hungry, just habit, even though it is good food. I'm going to do the 'almost' naked weigh this weekend and see exactly where I'm at. No more excuses. Feel like crap, sore throat, stuffy, ears hurt, plus a parent (same one as before) has called for a meeting with the principal, to have the principal make sure I pass their daughter in science. Hum, could it be that your daughter has 13 tardies/absences for my class? Could it be that your daughter rarely turns in work. I have already email the parent immediately when their is an assignment and when the child does not turn in the assignment, hey why teach, I'll just sit on the phone/computer all day and the kids can play! Oh well, I really don't care. If push comes to shove, I'll just give the kid a 'C' and everyone will be happy. If you don't want your child to be accountable, why should I. Going to go take a shower, making tator tot casserole in my new tiny individual casserole dishes I got for Christmas, portion control. TTFN

    Revision to SADI

I am giving the VSG to SADI - (VSG in 2016) to "finish the job". Yes, I am in the statistic of regained weight. Lost 125, but put 50% back. Malabsorption and a Real Dietary Plan seems to be the missing components for me, so it's homework time. SADI-S Revision seems to have a 75%-85% long-term success rate, and I need a 2nd chance at relieving stress on my joints and organs. Where else can I find relevant information?
  11. Them tests and being off PPi’s for a week do not sound like fun. Hopefully all that is a means to an end, though and you get scheduled for your revision very soon.

    Feeding tube after revision

I have a feeding tube currently. I had surgery 6/13/24 for revision to RNY. I had 2 emergency surgeries 3 days later. I had a leak and had 7liters of toxic fluids cleaned out of me then ICU 6 days and hospital until the end of July. It has been 10 months + with wound vac, Gtube, and now a stricture that I've had 3 balloon procedures and still not halfway there. Total of 6 hospital stays, 4 ER visits, 7 surgeries since June 2023. I'm getting better. Feeding tube helps but also causes alot of pain and granulated tissue which has to be burned off. I have found 4 people who have talked about the same issues. A leak like this and a stricture is very uncommon. Most people with leaks end up dying. It's why you don't hear about them. I'm not sure why anyone would require a feeding tube other than a major stricture or leak. Maybe due to already having so much scar tissue. They think that is why I had a leak but nobody knows. For reference. I had lapband 2008. Lapband Removal 2019 due to Gerd. RNY 2023. I was 238lbs 5'6 at the time. I'm 170 now.
  13. I had gastric bypass in July of 2019. Highest weight was 400 before losing a bit on my own. Current weight varies from 167 to 173. I still feel some restriction to this day. My meals are usually small although I know we can all 'eat around' the restriction by eating smaller, but continuous meals and this was a slippery slope I fought back against. About 2 yrs ago, I started having right sided pain. It felt like the pain I used to feel when I ovulated so I assumed it was ovarian. Saw OB & had 2 ultrasounds and they couldn't even see right ovary (and the left was fine. Since they couldn't 'see' the right one, they said that was good since there was no obvious signs of..I don't know tumors, growths? The pain continued to worsen & I finally had gall bladder taken out 1.5 yrs ago. I adjusted diet again to deal with gal bladder being gone and things seemed ok. A few months after that the right sided pain returned. About 4 mos ago, the pain got so bad at times I'd be in a ball on my bed considering going to ER (which I HATE doing). Went back to primary got CT scan. CT came up with no findings. Then he referred me to GI doctor for colonoscopy & upper GI. I thought finally 'this was it, we've ruled out most other things'. I also had seen blood in my stools and it was old blood, like coffee grounds so I thought ok, not hemorrhoids? Just got back home from colonoscopy & upper GI. I thought doing prep was bad yrs ago, but much harder having had bypass surgery. Good news is no polyps or other concerning things. Bad news is main finding was on bypass "Patient's surgical anastomosis noted to be widely dilated, raising possibility of Dumping Syndrome as a cause". OK, most know what dumping is. I thought it was post surgery when we ate food (i.e. sugar, high fat) that processed too fast, etc. and you had dumping. Is the type of dumping they are alluding to different from our post surgery dumping? They recommended I see gastric bypass revision specialist. Has anyone else had revision NOT due to 1st bariatric surgery not being successful but for a "medical reason" like this (other than GERD, heartburn). I'm not even sure insurance will pay, but I have 2 yrs worth of history on this pain. Even it if does pay, I dread what this means for me - more hair loss? If I do this, will I need another revision in 5 yrs again at which point I'll be getting up there in age. I also still feel restriction kick in although yes, nothing like 1st 2 years My highest right now hovers at 173. I hoped I'd get to 150 but closest I've come is 167-168. Is revision another 'nuclear detonation option'? I've also wondered with the CT scan, etc. is there any chance of some straggler/stone from my gallbladder surgery 1.5 yrs ago that should be considered? Should I post this in the revision group instead? I read through some and was unsure. Are we allowed to cross-post? Any input would be appreciated. This is causing issues on my job as the pain hits out of nowhere (not X amount of time before OR after a meal, that I have been able to discern. Thank you!
  14. I agree with @swimbikerun. Don't go off of us exceptions. It's actually not common to lose a lot with a revision. Go into it expecting about 50% less weight loss than what you had with your initial surgery. Then if you lose more, it's a pleasant surprise. But if you don't, you're already prepared for that.
  15. Have a revision to bypass. That's what I did and it's a game changer. Now, I had it due to complications, but it's still worth it. Start looking into it, and work on getting your mind back in the game. You know the diet, you know the rules, you know how this works. Get started now. I will say, you won't lose weight as fast, or as much, as with your original weight loss surgery. But you could look at a good 40-50 pound loss, which would put you right back in the weight you liked. I say definitely do it.

I can't believe I'm here again. Sleeved Jan 2013. HELP

I did the Lapband (and loved it) went back 10 years and the doctor persuaded me to get the sleeve. I had -0- restriction (even the day of surgery I had -0- restriction and I hated it. 6 years later (this date) I am preparing for revision (by pass). I feel like such a loser (and not in a good way either) I take Imodium AD everyday for the chronic diarrhea fromt he sleeve. How is the diarrhea from the revision (by pass)?
  17. I also did very little research on plication. The reason I chose not to is because I live in a fairly small town in Texas. I was afraid it was too new a procedure for my local surgeons to know about. They don't offer it and if I had an emergency post op and couldn't get back to Dr Ortiz, I was worried they would not know what to do. Also my regular dr does all my health needs and I didn't know if he would know enough about it either. But on the plus side of the coin, a girl I was picked up with at the airport had plication the same day I had sleeve revision, and she was released to go home a few days before me and she said she had no pain. But my pain was also minimal. I just took liquid Tylenol and it was enough.
  18. I'm still so confused. Why do you keep posting pics of Ed Burns? But serious proppahs dude!!!!! Congrats and so happy you shared! Can you believe you are the same guy that started your journey or even your revision journey? And don't you think IF has been a game changer on the loose skin front? (and yet, part of me is still saying...and STILL no di*k pics all up in heah for us...I just don't get it...)
  19. Jesse we are a little similar in our stats. My highest weight was 260 and that was my sw as well. Tuesday I was 247. I will only be weighing monthly for now... my sx date was 4/8. I'm 5'8 and 24 years old. Also mine was a revision from the band though.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Cellulitis is an infection of the tissue. Mine was about 75% of my leg from ankle to back of my butt cheek. painful, and sore.. Better now, back to work full time next week. Still some discomfort if I am on my feet too long..So therefore I find myself sitting and resting with my leg elevated..Most likely from an infection in the incision from my thigh lift revision just before Thanksgiving. But nothing was every conclusive as to a decision as the cause

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

Fanny - I hope your surgery goes well today. I had to have port revision surgery a couple months ago - the recovery wasn't too bad. I hope the kinked tubing runs about the same lines. You'll be up and about before you know it! Let us know how you are - when you are up to it one of us I'm sure will light a fire under you. Lyn/Kathy - good luck with the interviews! I'm crossing my fingers and praying for you both. Renewed - I'm going to check out Salsa's blog. I have Nike Shoes but I have no idea what ya'll are talking about with the tracker. Mike looked at them and it (he's a techy - I understand it but am not into things - I think I would be if I could afford them). I do want a Bodybugg really bad though...hoping I'll get one for Christmas. I haven't been very suttle about my hints. I haven't seen or heard from Bonnie either. I hope she is okay. Georgia - we are going to rock that 5K! Jeannie and I did Zumba last night at the Y. It kicked my butt! Really bad! It was fun though...my body doesn't quite move like that, but I'm learning.

Lucky #7 are still going strong !!!

DO NOT cover your children!! They're all over 21 now, right?? They need to take responsibility for themselves. Get jobs that have coverage, etc. No one in school now?? Colleges have health insurance available for a reasonable price. Get a plan that will allow you to get the surgery that you need!! So... how was the LOST finale???? Gave up watching that several years ago when it just got too weird!! TOO FUNNY!!! Bailey's in his coffee!!! :sneaky::tongue2::tt1: :tt1:You should be able to get SF Irish Cream for his coffee, but maybe not at Starbucks. Their SF flavors are so limited considering the myriad of SF flavors that are out there! There is a SF white chocolate powder that is wonderful! I usually get that mixed with a little SF Raspberry or vanilla. So.... scale went up today... TOPS weigh in... I'm back a hair over 200 again and it's depressing!! Just farting around with the same 3-4 lbs for way too long!! Up, down, up, down, up, down!! Especially considering all the exercise and walking I've been doing. Have to revise what I'm eating! Apparently my body likes this weight! I weighed right around 200 for a lot of years. But I don't want to stay here!! Anyways, nothing to do with that... I'm feeling kind of depressed and weepy for no apparent reason! Go through this from time to time which feeds my theory that even after menopause we still experience some sort of "cycle". Then, since Earl skipped TOPS this morning, I went to the pet store on the way home. Not a good thing to do when I'm already depressed! But I'd never been inside their main store and it is truly beautiful! Big aquarium room, reptile room.. all beautifully decorated with soft lights and music! Would never seriously consider buying a dog there because their prices are too high. They had Chihuahuas and Toy Poodles. The poodles were so cute... 5 of them, all blond... but $795 and NO papers! Not registered. And that only includes puppy shots and exam. Shelters are way less than that and often include spay/neuter, all shots and pet exam. But... I spent about 1/2 hr browsing through their books on several small breeds... Yorkie, Shih Tzu, Maltese, etc. I really want a Yorkie mix. One book said that Yorkies make great therapy puppies... like to take to a nursing home or hospital, because everyone they meet is their BEST FRIEND!! That's the way Gigi is! Tracy will bring her over and she opens the door and lets go of Gigi's leash and she races across the room and dives into my lap! Love it! Oh... so you have another hour of Lost to watch. So you haven't seen the climax yet. Thought there would be comments on Face Book this morning but haven't seen any so far. Home before noon this morning and nothing else on the agenda for today! Just sat around all day yesterday. Can't do that again. Will maybe take a cruise around the neighborhood. And think I'll go do my routine at the gym, too. You probably all saw Karri's prom picture already, hope she doesn't mind, but I'm going to post it anyway. It's so cute and so funny!
  24. I am wondering if anyone has the band over bypass. I am scheduled to have this revision procedure in 2 weeks and would love to hear how it has been for you. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
