    The stress of Dating

Hmmm... so I am just getting to the point where I feel comfortable dating. In fact, a couple weeks ago, I joined a dating site (I didn't date for nearly 10 years while morbidly obese because of self-esteem issues, so this is a big step for me). Now my questions is, can I date a really attractive, hot guy? I seem to find myself wanting to date guys that I would say are less physically attractive than me & who I'm not particularly attracted to. I was contacted by the HOTTEST man in the universe & I told him outright that I thought he was way too good looking for me. I think I must be crazy! Has anyone else had this experience of automatically rejecting what you really want? I know this is related to self-esteem issues, but how the h*ll do you get beyond that? I'm going to be single forever at this rate Krista
  2. One week out and don't have any strength. Went out today to Dr follow-up. Brought protein drink with me but I still felt like crap when I was brought home . Had to sleep. Anyone else still dragging around?

    Aetna

I have Aetna and I had to 4 classes(appointment s) with Nutritionists dietitian, had to have PCP sign off, nephrology, endocrinologist, cardiology, ultrasound, And had to show I was on some type of weight loss etc. But do not gain any weight during this I was disapprove for the surgery for gaining 3 pounds. Doctors had to go through review . 3 days prior to surgery date I finally got approved. 6 weeks post OP down 40lbs. That's my experience with Aetna Sent from my SM-N960U1 using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. Today is 100 days since surgery. I started before preop at 305 and I'm now at 240.6. I lost 23 on Preop (a full month of preop!) I've lost 41.4 in the past 100 days and I couldn't be happier! I am a Band to sleeve revision and have been unable to work out. I have yet to (knock on wood) stall it's slowed down the past two weeks but still moving!! I should be able to start the gym soon too!!. I'm only 2.2 from my New Years goal. I am so thankful for my sleeve. I wish I had gotten this 3 years ago instead of the crapband!! can not wait to see what the next 100 days brings (lol takes away really) The next 3 weeks are going to be challenging with family vising and holiday goodies but I'm in such a better place than I ever have been that I know that It won't break me! I'll try and post some pictures later on

    Pureed-Mushy stage question

Well they DO mention eggs but only in egg salad lol. So it's a bit confusing. I guess I will text my surgeon and ask. My nutritionist was having a family emergency last time I texted her which was about a week ago and she never did get back to me so I'm currently looking for a new one.

My nutritionist was having a family emergency last time I texted her which was about a week ago and she never did get back to me so I'm currently looking for a new one. I say eggs are eggs.....as long as they are as soft as what you would use for egg salad I think you're good to go. That's what I figured as well. If they are the same only without the extra junk and just soft yolks then I would assume they are fine. I thought about it for a few minutes after my last post and decided I'd go ahead and make some and it went down better than most of the other stuff I've had to eat on this diet and no upset stomach like some of the other stuff too (tuna salad did not go so well). So I guess we'll know soon enough. So far, so good!

    Belching

I'm 6 weeks post op and still can't burp. It feels like I need to really bad but can't, it's annoying. Happens when I swallow too much or eat too fast. I hope it goes away eventually. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. Crazy...I just started my 2 week liquid diet too. I really just want to eat chips. I almost convinced myself that it was ok to eat a left over baked potato and steak from last night because after all you shouldn’t throw away good food. What is wrong with me?!? Can you freeze potatoes? What time is your surgery and what are you having done?

Pureed Stage 14 days post op

Thank you so much for your kind words! I see a therapist every week and I'm hoping to push through.I know this is just a small part in my whole weight loss journey and eventually I will be able to eat relatively normal stuff in about 6 weeks with the occasional treat here and there. That's what I keep reminding myself that this stage is temporary. I'll be a lot happier 6 months down the road!

I was banded the 12th!!! My tummy hurt the worst! Lol I'm supposed to be on a clear liquid diet the first week! I went ahead and had some thin grits yesterday though! Totally helped with the hunger!!!

    pRE-OP DIET

I did not have to go through any pre op diet other than nothing by mouth 12 hours before the surgery. I had my surgery 12 weeks ago at a center of excellence.

    Ladies, Tom Question!

I'm almost 6 weeks out, and started my period a week and half after surgery...and it hasnt stopped yet. It's super light, can wear panty liners. But very time I go to the bathroom, it's there. And I'm so freaking sick and tired of it!
  14. To be honest, we boarded our three dogs for the whole two weeks that I was home after surgery. Originally it was for one week but at the end of that week, I felt it would be better to have another week to heal up. It was worth the $$ to me, which is what counts. However if that isn't an option, using a pillow, like others have suggested should work. You could also put a little Vicks Vapor Rub on your body (like right below the belly button or way up on your chest). I know the smell of that stuff keeps my dogs away from things. I put a teensy bit of that on our power cords when the critters were babies (especially the cat).

    struggling

I'm 8 weeks out and still not hitting mine either. My biggest issue is fluids. I can't stand the taste of anything with artificial sweetner, which is a post surgery thing for me. And I have always hated water!

    Period Question

I hope you feel better soon girl <3 best of luck.

    coffee

Yes it is I am 2 weeks post op I have a cup of cafe latte skinny from Starbucks and I specifically asked my surgeon as well as nut they both said no problem the reason some people drink decaf is because of acidity if u don't have that issue you should go ahead and enjoy a nice cup. 18. Try Ross, they always have tops for like 8.99. I wish I could help, but my 2x clothes are what I am wearing now (fall/winter), I have lots of spring/summer stuff that I wont need. Having my surgery next week, and its just getting cool here, so I still need my 2x stuff. Good luck.

    Discharged home

Mine are falling off just when the doc said they would. I was instructed to take off the dressings 3 days after surgery and to leave the steri strips to dry and fall off by themselves. I lost the smallest one from my sternum on day 4. The belly button one went this morning (a week after surgery) and the remaining two - I give them a day to go. Nice to see how very small the incisions underneath are. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Lunch ideas?

So I'm almost 3 months out and for some reason and struggling with lunch. Tried ricotta bake--loved it until I ate it for lunch 2 weeks straight and still have no desire to eat it again. I've made chicken salad, taco salad (without chips/nachos!), had some lentils and I'm bored with all of these. Anyone have a go-to lunch? I usually do yogurt and berries for breakfast, some type of meat in the evening, plus a protein shake and a couple low fat cheese strings during the day as well. I just need some better take to work lunch ideas!

    Ptsd And Pre-Op

I'm sorry about the emotional turmoil you are experiencing. I'm not a mom but I have personal experience with these kinds of issues. And honestly, the only way forward is counseling (for depression, PTSD), medication if necessary, and support groups for WLS patients. I spent so much of the time - the years - that I was severely depressed thinking something external would save me. A boyfriend, getting in to a certain college, etc. Even when my circumstances changed, and I had all those things, I still couldn't escape myself. You have to decide to fight for yourself, and this surgery is a good step toward that, but definitely, definitely, definitely take an hour each week (you CAN make time) to go to counseling or a support group, hopefully two or three hours for both! You deserve and need that kind of support. Good luck on your journey and we're all with you
  22. i am now 7 weeks out and find myself eating fast like i always used to. at first for the first month i would get food stuck if i didnt chew well or if i ate to fast but now nothing gets stuck. i am not taking 1/2 hour to eat my food, im lucky to make it to 15 min. i know that i need to slow down but its a bad habit of mine. i hope that im not hurting anything by doing this. andrea
  23. Molly, That kind of sucks. Have they told you that you cannot do the surgery now? I too have an autoimmune disease, not the same one though, I have Antiphospholipid syndrome(causes increased risk of blood clots, miscaraiges and even posibley strokes). I told my rheumatologist that I was looking into the Lapband and she did not say that I could not do it only that I needed to be on full anticoagulation for an entire week after surgery. And I told my surgeon about it and he did not seem concerned except about the week of full anticoagulaion. So my surgeon is planning to talk to my rheumatologist about it too. But so far no one has told me I could not have it done, and from what I have read about autoimmune diseases and lap band it is mostly thyroid related. I hope that helps. Jen

    Bras!

Hi All I have never been well endowed at my heaviest my cup size was almost a D cup. Well 12 weeks out my girls are looking like two tiny deflated air balloons! B cups are too small and C cups way too big it is not pretty ladies! To make matters worse is the fact that I have never been smaller the a 36 (40 at my largest). Now what can I do at the gym to tighten up that loose skin??? Anyone remember the old "Granny" cartoons in Playboy?
