  3. Meds with Water, go shower and dress, then hydrate with a cup of herbal tea. 1/2 hour later, 6 oz of Kefir. 1/2 hr later, another cup of tea. Mid morning, 6 oz of greek yogurt or one cooked egg. More hydration if I don't get distracted with work. lunch is 4 oz pasta-less lasagna (cooked chicken, ricotta, spaghetti sauce mixed together) or 4 oz tuna salad (albacore mixed with zucchini relish and mayo). More hydration. Mid afternoon snack is a string cheese or 3 oz of hummus. More hydration. dinner is the lasagna or tuna salad, whichever one I haven't eaten yet that day. More hydration. Evening snack before bed is another 6 oz of Kefir. Protein is averaging 60 grams/day, calories around 700-800.

Gaining 3 weeks post op !

It is really unlikely that you can eat enough calories at 3 weeks to gain actual fat, i have to say. You are also coming up on possible 3 week stall.....give it time and just stay on plan. Start your exercise as soon as your doctor gives the ok, it will give you a lot of benefits.

    Working out

So I've already emailed my surgeon and my pcp, I am waiting to hear back. Mostly it won't be until Monday. So while I wait I thought maybe I could get a little insight from all you helpful people here. I have mitral valve regurgitation. I take heart medication to slow my heart rate Bc I was having insane racing of the heart. Two weeks ago I saw my pcp Bc the medication was making me dizzy. Well come to find out my blood pressure was dropping to low levels 92/58 and my heart rate was 42 Bpm. My dr lowered my dosage, I had signed up for the gym the day before and asked my pcp if I had any restrictions for working out. She said anything should be fine but I should wait to take my morning dosage of medication until after my workout. I have been following all her orders to the T. Here it is two weeks later I'm still having bouts of severe dizziness throughout the day. My trainer has me doing 40 minutes of cardio 5 days a week, 3 days of weights. I have felt awful for almost 3 weeks now. I feel like I am sick however I am not sick. After every workout I feel extremely nauseous, and usually come home shower and fall asleep the minute I sit down until I have to get the kids from school. My husband thinks I am hitting the gym too hard, for the amount of calories I get in a day. I am 3 months post-op and still only able to get about 500 calories a day. I try to eat more but I just can't, I start feeling like I am going to vomit. I get my protein and most of my water. I feel like Bc I was feeling this way before working out it could still be the heart medication even tho For the most part my BP and pulse are good. But the whole gym and lack of calories makes sense as well. Anyone have any advice?

    wine n pizza

I was cleared for wine at 1 month, but I don't drink very often because of the calories. I eat "smart ones" pizzas all the time! They are 300 calories and 17 grams of protein and taste amazing! I probably started eating them when I was 2 months out.

    I Need Some Encouragement

I count calories and make sure I get enough Protein. I aim for 1000-1200 calories a day and at least 70 grams of protein at minimum. I work out 4-5 days per week. I, for the most part, choose low carb, high protein options. I do not eat Pasta, bread or rice. I have the same issue though. During the week I am great. Pack my lunch, healthy Snacks and a good high protein dinner. Over the weekend all bets are off. We tend to eat out a lot and I am less strict. I still try to watch calories and make the healthiest choices I can. If I really want something though I have a small portion of it. This way I don't feel deprived of anything and I continue to lose. For me it is the exercise that helps keep the weight coming off and when I have a bad week it helps me from gaining. I went and got a personal trainer and work with him twice a week and then on my own the other days. He keeps me motivated and is the best thing I have ever done for myself! Keep up the good work! 45lbs are gone never to be seen again! Good for you!

    Pizza

I have 3 teenage sons at home and homemade pizza is on the menu at least twice a month. In fact we had it Friday night. Up until my last fill 3 weeks ago, I was fine with one piece including most of the crust. Now, I just eat the toppings. It may be a little high in calories, but in moderation everything is fine once in awhile.

    Stalled at 6 weeks

Certainly check all the posts using the Search function. That said, what's your calorie intake vs output. How's your water intake? Are you following the diet you are supposed to be or are you off doing your own thing? Are you tracking your food intakes? Don't forget that you could be losing fat and not losing "weight" as odd as that sounds, there are so many times that I'd drop fat % but not a single oz. Just keep doing what you are supposed to, max out on the water (128oz if possible) and focus on lean meats and veggies.

    Stall

You mention calories (which seem really low) but not Protein. What is your protein target? Mine is 100 grams and my surgeon's range is 80-100 grams. How are you doing at getting in all of your protein? Are you able to consume at least 80 grams? Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. But, if you are eating so little you may not be getting enough nutrition to support your activity level and weight loss. Getting in enough protein and Fluid (at least 64 oz) is critical for health and for weight loss. Embrace the Stall http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall Your calories are relative to your protein. What is your protein target?

    Back to work

I am fortunate to feel great. I went to work one and a half weeks after surgery (had surgery wed, returned to work on a mon). I think the fact that I can consume 800-1000 calories helps my energy levels and I eat throughout the day so energy doesn't dip. I am going to bed earlier (10pm) but I used to stay up until 1-2am so that's my most notable difference. What is your calorie intake?

    Calories?

Every doctor has their own recommendations. I've heard as much as 2000 calories to as low as 500 per day. My doctor wanted me to eat about 800 calories per day.

    I'm New

The green zone can be a little confusing to fond. I thought I was there a couple of times. Once I ended up to tight and once I went back a refilled I was all good. When you know how to control the band and work with it. You are in your green zone... Be sure to drink plenty of liquids without empty calories...

    Slowing down weight loss

It's okay, at 5'1" I'm at peace with being short, LOL. I'll be at the forefront of the petite revolution, LOL. And it is important to note that my level of intake is nowhere near average. I'm small overall, in late middle age, female, and I have a lifetime history of yoyo dieting (so my body is very efficient at conserving calories). No one should expect to eat the way I do in maintenance.

    18 days post op.

I live alone and didn't want to cook a bunch of stuff for this phase because like you said, you only eat a few bites and have to throw it out for the most part. So what I did was buy a bunch of my stuff already pre-made and in smaller containers that if I had cooked it. Yes, I understand that you aren't always getting the freshest stuff or know what is exactly in something calorie/protein-wise but I estimated as good as I could and tried to vary stuff up right now. I ended up buying pre-made tuna salad, chicken salad and meatloaf from our local grocery store that has a deli in it. I also bought some of my favorite chopped beef brisket and cut it up in more smaller pieces to have some almost pureed bbq. I also found some chili that was in the refrigerated section that I tried one night (too heavy for my stomach). When I was out and about, I stopped at one of our local sub shops and got a couple of different kinds of their Soup. I've also gone to Subway and had them make a 6" meatball sub with just the meatballs (they can put them in a soup cup) and a little ranch and Parmesan cheese on them. I've had Sonic make a breakfast burrito -- just the insides of it -- and put it in a box to go. Refried Beans and cheese was another staple for me at this time. Anything I had I just mashed and worked with it enough with my fork to make it into a pureed blend.

    Stalled at Week 3

Hey there, did you get to speak with the NUT or Dietitian? Maybe you need to keep track of the calorie intake making sure your putting in enough or vice averse. Find out how many calories you should be on. Sometimes its just your body holding on to the weight, it will start to come off when it realizes this is life now and let go, LOL be patient. Be sure to follow up with the NUT, also maybe your losing inches now that too sometimes comes off first.

    Stalled at Week 3

How many calories are you getting in daily? I'm getting approx 600, which I think is too low, but what can you do....other than add a milkshake....just kidding!!
  19. yeah who knew that losing TOO MUCH would ever be a concern but I'm coming up on my three-month anniversary of gastric sleeve. Have had no problems really at all ... Started at 280 with the two week pre-op diet and weighed 218 this morning. Never really stalled at all and am starting to wonder what's going to happen when I reach my weight target (190). I eat four meals a day but only 200-300 calories per meal so averaging around a 1000 cal/day. I swim 2-3 times a week and do yoga 2-3 times a week and I make sure I hit my protein goals every day. And am never really hungry. In fact my afternoon meals often leave me feeling like I ate too much. When I reach my goal how will I add calories? 1000 cal/day is not sustainable forever ... is it?
  20. Use an online BMR....basal metabolism rate calculator to figure out what your burning per day. Then just add in any calories burned for exercise to get a total burned for the day. It will end up being about 800 to 1200 calories for most people to lose weight without going in to starvation mode.
  21. Banded in December of 2012... I had my first fill in March 2013, and this week I had my fourth fill. What a difference! I'm not sure if my system needs to adjust a bit, but for the first time I am having problems with some foods. Salads cause discomfort... and I only need to eat about 1/2 of the amount of food I was eating previously to feel stuffed. I may have to go to four meals a day just to keep up my Protein and a minimum amount of calories. Hopefully this will get me off the plateau I've been stuck at for the past month. I can really feel the band working. What a different feeling.

    Nay Sayers

Not enough long term data to suggest stretching is significant. Get the sleeve, measure 1/2 cup food a meal, keep your calories logged-never go over a healthy amount, and you will do just fine.

    Days like this

After my surgery I only lost my appetite for a few weeks and then my stomach started actually growling at me again! I have “munchie days”, too where I seem to be hungry all the time. I try to tell myself that it’s head hunger and resist grazing in the fridge. When I just have to have something I’ll have a Swanson’s Chicken Sipping Bone Broth. It’s low calorie and pretty high in protein and it does help curb my hunger. Try having more protein when you eat an actual meal. It does seem to help.
  24. @Nanagrrl3 I’m 4 weeks post op tomorrow and I was cleared for full solid foods after 3 weeks. I have been overly cautious about eating the entire time. While I haven’t had any issues with food coming up or pain/discomfort, I have no desire to eat and can seemingly only eat tiny bits of food. I get full really fast. I totally agree with @catwoman7 that we’re all very different and to try soft foods like fish or soft meats with sauce. Fish has a ton of protein and very low calories. This is a mental struggle that only people who have had this surgery can know. I can’t wait for the day when I feel hungry, can eat without worry and move on. I really wish I knew when that would be. Good luck!
  25. Check out the sugar per serving. Most surgeons have a "low-calorie, low-sugar" rule and a guideline to not consume your calories w liquid... for my surgeon that is supposed to be less than 8g of sugar per serving...that said, he did clear me to juice (but I try to do a 70% veggie / 30% juice mix when I juice). The times I recall looking at Naked the sugar content was pretty high.
