Well, I got my happy butt out of bed this morning at 5:00 am and headed to the gym. I'm on a roll. lol. I did 35 min on the elliptical. I knew that tonight was going to be busy and I needed to do my exercise in the am if I was going to get it done, and I did it! Yay for me! I'm patting myself on the back right now....pat, pat, pat. Okay, enough of my bragging. Today's menu: Bfast - Matabolism is going crazy because I am STARVING! fresh tomatoes and carrots, dipped in hummus. yum yum Snack Ww yogurt - 1 WW point Lunch - the rest of my lunch from Applebees from yesterday. Talapia & broccoli. yum. Only 7 WW points for the entire meal. Dinner - Low fat chick tortillia soup - 4 ww pts Snack - Skinny cow ice cream sandwhich (2 WW points) Exercise - 35 min on Elliptical

    is something wrong

Have you tried Isopure? They have some good favors, sip on it through the day, 40g protein in the bottle. Also unjury, they have un-flavored that you could mix into yogurt or creamed Soup. Good luck!
  4. I eat what I am supposed to small pieces of baked chicken, apple sauce, yogurt etc... but everytime I eat I have to go # 2. Does anyone else have this problem, its not a lot but I still have to go like 10 minutes after eating??????

hard time getting back on track

Having lost over 50 pounds pre-op, you're going to lose at a slower rate post-op. Also, if you're eating too much sugar or carby foods, be aware that your body retains more Water if your carb intake is higher - it needs the extra hydration to be able to digest those foods, which is why you see a big drop when you start low-carbing - your body's dropping that extra water weight. Is your surgeon satisfied with your progress? Are you following his/her plan? As far as getting back on track goes, I can sympathize, I've been there myself. There's no magic wand, you just have to mentally commit to a few days of struggle, and go back to basics - mostly Protein, and some veggies. Focus on dense protein (chicken or other solid meats, not yogurt and cottage cheese) - they'll fill you up faster and keep you full longer. Avoid Protein Bars, especially while you get back on track. You can do this!

    SLIDER FOODS

Protein shakes and yogurt are slider foods but the protein in them is high. Soup is definitely a slider as it doesn't take much effort on your part to eat it. We need the protein but eating soup also lets you eat and drink at the same time. At this point I would say have more filling Proteins then soup.
  7. Breakfast is grab and go: Protein shake or bar Snack: Greek yogurt or 1 oz mixed nuts Lunch: lean Protein with veggie side (like chicken and broccoli) Snack: string cheese, sometimes with a few crackers Dinner: mini pizza (lo carb tortilla, turkey pepperoni etc) or some variation of lean protein and a veggie. I average around 800 cals.
  8. Hello! I'm on Long Island but understand how you feel. I have had one fill and know its not enough, going for second fill on Friday. I have never regretted my band, I'm sorry you are having regrets. I've realized though the band is a tool. Yes we have all heard that before but you have to diet and exercise and use the band to guide you. I changed what I eat since being banded I pack my lunch every day! I go to the gym, I try for 3 x's per week. It's hard, not easy, but I have lost 30lbs since being banded on 8/11/11 I'm not done losing and pushing myself to keep losing. I hope to be in onederland in a week or 2! My day is usually muscle milk or protein shake for bfast. Lunch is usually Morningstar turkey griller and chobani yogurt, dinner some sort of protein veg and maybe carb. I'm not always good, I treat myself when I want, and like a glass of wine occasionally. Good luck and don't regret anything! Use it to guide you and it will help you more than you know! Message me if you need a buddy or wanna chat!
  9. I did alright on Christmas Eve but ate some cookies on Christmas Day. It seemed to restart the sugar addiction! Lot's of cravings, for anything and everything. Over this weekend I only drank protein drinks and yogurt. I drank lots of water. Yesterday I ate a very light breakfast and early light dinner. I feel back on track again. I do not want to mess up all the good work I have done. I was terrified to weigh myself at the club this am but it was good! Whew, hopefully a lesson learned for me. Get back on the wagon, keep posting, don't give up. We have to live each day - one at a time. I want to add, I have never done so well before - never. I have tried many many times to lose weight and was never this successful. My brain seems to be in the right place now. I thank the Lord Jesus, my band and this forum. I really appreciate the feedback!
  10. I was never able to get down the Protein drinks. I started drinking liquid yogurt and keifer to get in protein and good calories in the second week. Sometimes, all I could handle was vanilla flavored milk (the one in the juice box). Just make sure you keep up with liquids in general, the biggest problem right now would be dehydration. As you add more real food, your protein levels will go up. Hang in there---
  11. I also had the hernia repair along with my band. I took a week off of work and I worked 1/2 days most of the 2nd week just to get back in the swing of things. I bought the whey protein at Sams Club/Walmart. The chocolate mixed with milk takes just like chocolate milk so that is easy to get down. I mixed the vanilla with milk, greek yogurt & a handfull of berries. Tasted really good, but the air from blending was too much for my stomach. I've tried Muscle Milk and that was really good.
  12. I have been purreeing my son's food for almost seven years now. literaly everything you can eat you can puree. the only real callenges are high bread based items. they turn gummy in the blender just as they do in our stomach. For my son, i make some favorites like cambels bean with bacon Soup. To enhance texture and vegis I do it 50 non diluted soup, about 30 percent pureed carrots and 20 percent ground ham. To ground ham appropriately you can add eiter sugar free syrup or the Water from the carrots. I add water (and for him syrup because i need to enhance calories signiicantly) to whatever texture im shooting for, which for him is aboiut mashed potatoes. Warm each item first. It will gound in a food processer easier (i prefer that a blender) Beef with aujus and potatoes woks well too. He loves that. bananas with vanilla yoghurt. i have blended whole pies...just add suga free yogurt.

Eating - 3 weeks post op

According to what I've been told, it sure does sound right! But at 3 weeks, other than the post I made about eating pizza and pasta (do NOT try this at home! I'm a food addict, I didn't resist, and paid the price afterwards)-- anyway, other than that slip up, I was eating 40 to 60 g of protein a day, but my doctor told me that if I could increase, then to do just that! I was having Greek yogurt, and babybel cheese. As well as protein shakes and some string cheese.
  14. I got sleeved march 18th I'm almost a month out and I'm only down 15 pounds mind you a lot of that was the first week out. I had posted on here before regarding my stall felt better but now I'm just so depressed. I drink two proteins a day a Greek yogurt and 20oz of crystal light a day. So that equals out to 50g of protein a day. Sometimes a have a little mash potatoes but can't handle it to well seems heavy.

Post op diet - what was yours?

Clear liquids for the first day and then full liquids (strained Soup, yogurt, Protein shakes) for 2 weeks. I was cleared for mushy foods last week. I'll be on this stage for 6 weeks.
  16. Go to liquids and protein shakes for 2 of your meals. Then some yogurt, SF popsicles and SF jelly for the other. Try this for a few days to see if you can handle this. Maybe you need a bit of healing time after a fill rather than a normal 24 hours of liquids which my surgeon recommends after each fill.
  17. I was sleeved in MX on 3/12/12 this is what I was given. Hope this helps and please treat your tiny tummy and do this so you don't have any serious issues. like a leak. Also I see my primary care for follow up here in the states. She just did my labs for me a few months ago. Take your Vitamins each day. The idea is to not expand the stomach pouch. During the fist week, you will Not be physically hungry (careful with the mental hunger) If you feel lethargic, or very, weak, it's because you are dehydrated, call or email the nutritionist. Important changes: Never combine solids with liquids. Liquids should be taken one hour later after your meal. Suck on an ice cube if you are thirsty. No carbonated drinks. They can make your pouch stretch Avoid high calorie drinks, juices, frappuccinos, milkshakes, alcohol... or you won't be able to lose weight. Or you can easily "dump" Sit down for a meal and take at least 20 minutes for yourself. ( yes you will need 20 mins for 1/2 cup of food) Take small bites. CHEW!!!! 30 Chews per bite Avoid productive burping (P'bing) eating too fast and not chewing food properly, eating solid food too soon after the surgery, drinking liquids with the meals or right after eating, eating too much at a meal. If anything gets stuck, stop eating, wait for it to burp up and don't eat again. Resume your meal later. Eat three meals a day ( solids, no protein shakes) Each plate should have a serving of protein, green veggies, fruit and grain, and one serving of fat If you feel restricted in the morning, drink something warm prior top your Breakfast. If you do not exercise use a pedometer and take 10,000 steps a day. Resume with your exercise 3 weeks after your surgery.

    Is this stupid...?

Same here - if my doctor didn't require it I would not have done it! Though I was lucky compared to others - i only had 3 days of "full liquids" - I could still eat oatmeal, cottage cheese, yogurt, thin soups etc.
  19. Don't beat yourself up. I have had icecream and sherbert over the months. Just don't do it often and don't eat large amounts. For example, If I am at a birthday party I skip the cake and have a little bit of icecream. That way I join in the celebration and have a little treat. I make healthy choices most of the time and avoid that deprived feeling by a tiny treat now and then. There are many healthier choices to choose from as well. Read the lables in the freezer isle.......fat free, frozen yogurt, sugar free ..........
  20. I am day 8 on liquids pre op. I have 3 carnation sf instant breakfasts and I can have sf jello, sf Popsicles, tomato soup ( but not every day), sf pudding or yogurt once a day, broth, crystal lite. I feel very low energy. And i am very gassy, even using lactaid milk. Does anyone else feel this way? I know that everyone's pre-op diets are different. This one is pretty strict but I'm sticking with it.
  21. Thanks so much for the book titles! One thing I want to ask is what you are allowed right now? My first week I was on Clear liquids plus Protein drinks and though I got my 80 grams of protein faithfully I was only getting about 3 carbs a day and I was so wiped out I could barely speak! My nutritionist said I should be on THIN liquids- and as soon as I added Soup thinned with milk, yogurt thinned with milk, etc. and raised my carbs up to 40 or so my energy level got much better! This week, three weeks for me, I have added pureed food and feel human for the first time- have been able to start working out, etc. Also make sure yo are getting your fluids- it is easy to get dehydrated and that will also wipe you out. Good luck!!!
  22. I went on a two day road trip with my sister this last weekend. I brought protein shakes, yogurt, graham crackers, protein bars, nuts, banana's, and applesauce for snacks. We ate out twice and the first time I got a salad that lasted me for both lunch and dinner and the second time (on the way home) we stopped at Red Robin's and I got a chicken sandwich and fries that lasted me for three meals lol (I'm not used to eating bread because of my wheat allergy, but Red Robin's has an allergy friendly menu if you tell them you have an allergy so they can take measure so that you don't get cross contamination on your food and they have gluten free buns and fries if you ask and I got full after eating only a third of the sandwich and four fries). Admittedly, road trips aren't easy with diet restrictions, but it IS possible to work around them and find things that you can eat.

    so many post op questions

First never ever leave your wife with her father ever again how horribly cruel he was both physically and mentally :( Now the drain hurts, its like heaven when it is gone. So that may help. Stay on top of her pain. Take the pain med as scheduled do not wait til she hurts. Don't force protein or foods right now. She is healing. Encourage sipping of fluids, water, gatorade, sf popsicles. Filling her tummy with yogurt or protein will just make her miserable right now. If she asks for a bite or a lick, let her have that...she definitely shouldn't be forcing protein right now. Fluids fluids fluids. Glad she has you. Take care of her. Let her know that drain removal should help so much! Most people are on liquids for two weeks so be gentle. At 6 days focus on fluids in small sips through out the day. When you start her on thinned protein drinks try premier protein ready to drink shakes from sams or Costco. Never push intake but be consistent with fluid. Aim for an ounce every 20 minutes or so but don't be a drill seargent She is lucky to have you!
  24. Hi. I'm at 3 wks post surgery too. What works well for me is yogurt, mashed potatoes, creamy soups and pureed foods. Just remember to chew a lot and take your time.
  25. Wow I'm on mushies, and I'm not allowed mashed potatoes or ground meat. Boo for me! I have been eating a lot of scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt, oatmeal. I do pureed chicken and salmon at dinner, but...yuck! My favourite mushy vegetable is peas. They're actually good.
