Hi Angie, Congrats on your surgery! I have slowed in my weightloss with the mushies phase also. I am finding it to be one of the hardest phases because it's just difficult to know what to eat that is healthy and suited for weightloss. To me the suggestions my surgeon gave for this phase just feel so completely opposite of everything I was doing before the mushy phase. But even still I have continued to lose with losing 5.6 lbs this last week. One key is drinking lots of Water and another of course is getting out and walking every day. One thing that we have to remember is as we increase the calories consumption we need to increase the exercise to continue to burn off more then we consume. I hope this helps. Best of luck!

I want to see if i can get a band buddy. I'm having a difficult time and need guidance. I'm 4 months out and have not lost any weight in about 6 weeks. I have 2 children a 12 year old with autism and fatty livers disease. My daughter is 8. Been with my husband 14 years, married with him only a year. Lol. I work for a school and love my job. Send me a private message if interested.

I had fluid removed due to swelling from being sick. I gained a lot back and my doctor put me in the pre-op diet for 3 weeks to jump start me. It helped a lot!

So I go in for a fill next week but the fill I had 6 weeks ago was.....interesting. he had to dig around a little to hit center and I was a bit concerned and he said that I've lost so much weight that the fat around my port area has probably gone away so now its tilted and assured me it was nothing to be concerned about I was wondering though if anyone else had this happen?

I had done some research and heard anywhere from a size 32 french bougie to a 40. 40 being larger. My surgeon uses a 40. I'm just concerned it may not be as restrictive. I don't really have a choice but was curious of others experience and successes with various sizes. Also I am 298 lbs and the surgeon said he'd be disappointed if I didn't lose 100 lbs in a year and not surprised if I lost 100 in 6 months. Is this possible? Other lose that much in 6 month's? Any tips for success .I would be thrilled to lose 100 in 6 months.being 5'6" my ideal weight is around 140. I'd be happy with 160. I'd be happy to see the 100's again. What's folks regiment post op for exercise ie: 1 week out 1 month 3 month etc... Thx

ask your surgeon what he recommends. I think you will find the surgeons recommendations on alcohol as varied as they are on caffeine/coffee! I think I had my first social drink at maybe 12 weeks post op, but I tend to avoid alcohol altogether now because it really is just excess calories. If we are out with friends I will get a "token drink" and sip at it, but that's about it. I'm all about not throwing the calories and carbs away for drinks. :-)

Good evening all my fellow sleevers, and sleevers to be... I have been reading a lot of the posts on this site, and although there are many people here that offer positive reinforcement to others, I see much, much more of the self negativity. If you stop and think for just a second, who is your biggest cheerleader? Who is your biggest fan? YOU ARE!!! Too many people speak too much negativity into their own spirits about what they can't do or think they can't do. My mother (God rest her soul) always said to me, "Don't tell me what you can't do, tell me what you CAN do". All of us have very difficult struggles ahead of ourselves, whether you are pre or post op. We MUST starting speaking more positivity to ourselves. We need to tell ourselves, "Yes I'm going to make it through the next 2 weeks of a liquid only diet". "Yes, I'm going to walk for at least 10 minutes everyday". Everything you say to yourself should start with, "I can or I will". ONLY POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS!! If you tell yourself, you can't, you won't, or even I don't know, its not going to happen because you're beginning with a defeatist attitude. Speak positivity to yourself, say it out loud so your brain and your subconscious hear you claim the positive affirmation. You will be shocked when you realize how strong you really are, but you've always started the race 2 paces behind the pack because you started doubting yourself before you even got started. Start building your "new self esteem" NOW! You won't have time later on because you'll be too busy LOOKIN' GOOD!!! You CAN, You WILL, I CAN, I WILL... Let these words be your mantra. Just remember fear and self doubt bring failure and disappointment. We have all experienced too much of those in our lives already. Remember this... "Insanity" is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result. Let's start today doing something different, expecting a POSITIVE result! Thank you for your gift of time!.... Turning 45 this week, getting sleeved next week!
MrsSugarbabe replied to shutterbug33's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Happy (early) Birthday!!! Hang in there! You didn't travel this far just to chicken out. I'm turning 59 later this week and received a call this morning telling me my surgery date was moving up to 11/10 (from 12/8) if I wanted that date. I said YES!!! So ready to get this behind me so I can get past the post-op process. Have to start my 2 week (minus 1 day ) pre-op diet today so there won't be any going out to supper on my birthday , but we'll Celebrate another time. -
Further Out With the Sleeve...what can I expect?
LaceGirl posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm about 12 weeks out and I'm down 47 pounds. Haven't had complications, sleep better, off my diabetic meds and feeling happy! My question is about the future. My biggest fear is back sliding into old problems, I want to stay in this good place I'm now in. I can only eat moderate amounts of food and that restriction is helping me change things for the better. When I'm a year or two out will that be completely gone? I'm worried. I'm really hoping this help sticks with me. Any experiences from long timers would be fantastic to hear! Thank you! -
It is time for another weekly update. I'm so mad at myself for this week. Somehow I've managed to gain back 5-6 lbs.:think I don't even know what happened, this whole week has just been kind of a blur. I've scheduled another fill for next week. That'll be three weeks after my first fill. I really hope this one gives me some great restriction. I have to be back on liquids for a week afterwards. That should get me back on track for my January 1 goal. I really want to make it to One-derland by January. I also just found out that my dad is planning to bring my grandmother to visit for Thanksgiving. :help: Now, don't get me wrong, I love my grandmother. But she drives me crazy. She'll tell me how much she worries about me and how I'd be so pretty if I'd just lose weight. Oh but that isn't the worst! Usually about 5 minutes after she reminds me that I'm fat (you know like I forgot) she'll ask me if I want anything to eat. Does that make sense to anyone? 'Cuz it sure don't to me. So I want to lose as much as possible before Granny hits town. She doesn't know I have the band and I have no intention of letting her know. She'd just over-react and give me a headache. I know my reward for losing 75 lbs. is to buy a bicycle. I'm thinking of changing that. I may just go ahead and buy one now. It might help get going in the right direction again. I used to love to ride my bike when I was a kid. It would certainly help on the days when I can't manage to get to the gym. There is a bike store right by my work, I think I'll stop in there on Saturday. I've gotta do something. I won't be able to stand myself if I start yoyo-ing up again. :help:

In my experience, I had to separate from my child for a full week. My situation is different than yours because it is just my son and I living together in a house. I sent him away to live with his grandparents for a week and he was actually opposed to it. My son is much older than a toddler, but the point I'm going to touch on doesn't have much to do with age. It brings on more stress when your child is around and you are not well enough to play or even hold him. My own son did not understand how I could be sick when I looked fine on the outside. He ended up thinking he did something wrong, which broke my heart and made recuperation even more troublesome. My son did come over three times briefly during the week he was away so that he could see for himself that everything was going to be okay when he got back. I showed him my staples so that he better understood why I didn't feel well or get anymore incorrect notions about why he needed to go away for a week. I talked to him on the phone everyday, of course. I don't think it is a good idea to let your child see you in the hospital. This is just my opinion, and my situation is different than others. My own child had to deal with the death of his father at a young age and is a little more sensitive. I have worked with young children for 15 years (preschool director and public school teacher) and can tell you that they are more effected by a parent being sick or hurt than you may ever realize. It usually comes out in their paintings/drawings, dramatic play, or even aggressive behavior. Whatever you decide, just make sure that your young child is reassured that everything is okay. Any change in their normal routine could be confusing or upsetting and they need that reassurance and understanding. Good luck!

Ladyred usually 2 weeks out they have you start on a clear liquid diet. All Dr.'s and programs seem to differ so I was wondering if they had you start yours this week or do you have to do it days before? By the way, are you going home the same day or will you be staying in the hospital? We can do anything we put our minds to here's to our health and soon to be new bodies!!!!

Glass half full vs. glass half empty? When I look at your sig line, I notice that you have been banded for 14 months and have had three surgeries IN ADDITION to the banding surgery. That isn't to say you're not doing a bang-up job, because you apparently are. I'm just saying that not everyone is prepared--financially, emotionally or physically--to spend thirty or forty thousand dollars, have four surgeries and still be heavy enough to qualify (with a couple of comorbidities) for weight loss surgery a year later. For example, I have an orthopedic surgeon who excitedly asked how much weight I'd lose with BREAST REDUCION surgery, because my knees are becoming damaged and he wants to stop that ASAP. So what those docs are basing their opinions on is the DATA...such as that available at PubMed...and their experiences. What else could they ethically use?

Indeed I am!!! I don't have my date yet but I'm praying they will let me schedule it this week. I'm starting my prep diet Monday no matter what. If it means I'll have to be on it longer than the 4 weeks then so be it. -
2 Months Post-Op & told I've lost more than normal.....
jess9395 replied to S(he) be(lie)ve(d)'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've been told I lost faster than "normal" since the first week. Was told not to expect to keep losing that fast, but I did. Was told to raise my calories and I did...some...as much as I could without being uncomfortable or eating too many carbs/sugar. Some people are slow losers, some faster. I really don't think there's a whole lot you can do about it if you are following your dr's instructions. -

Hi all - I am scheduled for a sleeve this Saturday 11/22. My biggest concern? Post-op healing with a 14 month old at home. Hubs is taking off two weeks to help me and we have an amazing sitter. But i am not able to lift my kid for four weeks. My demanding little chicken is not going to stand for that. To sleevers with young kids - any advice? Tips?

My not exactly textbook postop course so far
2goldengirl replied to 2goldengirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Aww, thanks, Babbs! As it happens, all that Fluid vamoosed in a big fat hurry. I have now lost 10 lbs since my surgery date 10 days ago. That's partly because, like most fresh post ops, I can't get in all my Protein and fluids yet. My new sleeve may have had an extra week to heal, but it hasn't had any more experience handling input than a brand-new one. It's a process. -
My not exactly textbook postop course so far

Since we do have the "like" button, it would be nice if it gave the opportunity to be specific about what one likes. For me it's your being a health professional, therefore, not freaking out about weight so soon after surgery. I was wondering how you were doing the past few days. It's good to see you again so that I can tell you that the garage is off limits for the coming week. So are the monkey bars. -
Learned last week that I was denied for skin removal surgery. Pretty bummed, what with warm weather coming and the thighs sagging. Apparently there's no way to appeal since BCBS has changed the criteria to qualify. Anyone else go through this, and what did you do? I can't afford to self pay, unfortunately.

Oh my god yall I never thought I'd be this close, getting kind of nervous, but excited!!! I don't know if I've lost any weight on my 2 week pre op diet I'm sure I have I just need a scale. Any idea where to get a good accurate scale that doesn't cost too much?? -
haha I had this conversation with one of my workmates last week as I have noticed the cuffs of a pair of jeans now get caught in the back of my shoes when I walk! I thought I was shrinking also...which isn't good when you are barely over 5ft!
