Just 2 days pre-op of liquids. My goal is 130-140 but I still can't see that happening. I have never been that small. I've been in my second stall and just want to see the scale moving again!

Finally Got The "YOUR APPROVED" BUT.....
Simpley_ke posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So i've known that i was approved for surgery since about monday of this week. I emailed my doctors office to let them know and of course they sent me a long email talking about how they must recieve some approval number and confirmation number from my insurance. So me being NOT SO PATIENT; called my insurance company on thursday and asked if everything was moving along. The woman that i spoke to stated that everything was fine and that she would call my doctors office .... SO SHE DID and seriously 2 minutes later my patient insurace rep at the office emailed me saying everything was a go and that i can now come in for my final visit and schedul my surgery after paying nearly $1,000.00 when in the begining the only told me about $350.00. So the problem i have is that i am now having to wait until i can come up with the money for everything to be done. NOT ONLY THAT my doctor isnt going to be in the office at all the week of the 12th so now i either have to get it by thursday of this coming week or wait until the 19th.... IM SO DOWN !!! sorry if this is really long had to vent.. -
Is my relationship with IBU over?
LumpySpacePrincess replied to Jewells70's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I take ibuprofen, but only three tabs once a month during my period. For joint pain, it sounds like you'd need to take it more often, and you'd run a higher risk of developing an ulcer. You might ask your surgeon what else you can take, because there are other alternatives out there. Tylenol never did anything for me, so I totally understand how you'd want to take ibuprofen! -
Has anyone else suffered from being constantly thirsty? I am three weeks post op and every day I am finding I need to drink more and more. It's torture at night and sometimes whilst I am half asleep I gulp down water to quench the thirst and then get a severe gas pains. Has anyone else suffered from this? it's driving me mad especially when I can't drink until 30mins after food (currently on purée)

Looking for a surgery buddy- 5/22

Hi there! I'm scheduled for May 21st, but still waiting on insurance approval as well. This is day two of my two week liquid pre-op diet and it's been a challenge. I just keep reminding myself that it's all worth it and that I will be ok. I think the waiting game with the insurance has been the most stress for me so far! Sending good thoughts your way for a speedy approval! -
I have a date...though not fully insurance approved, my surgeon is moving forward with plans to sleeve me on May 22. I'd love to have a few partners to corresponds with as I start the two week pre op journey...and of course the post op haul. I think sharing stories, encouragement and a simple reassurance of me not being crazy when things happen will be nice.

That's fine just doing as much research as I can until I get close enough to see the surgeons here I've got two choices here and I will go speak with them both when I get closer to my cut off date and see what they offer, what their process is, but I've spoke to a few locals and they say all I would need is 2-3 meetings with surgeon and maybe a dietitian that's it then a 2-3 week optifast diet for the surgery! Can't wait just takes time!

When did you feel normal again?
samuelsmom replied to Jazmundo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Felt almost normal after 2 weeks and completely back to normal when I started on solids at 4 weeks. I'm 2 1/2 months out and don't even feel like I had surgery. If I didn't get full so quickly and have those little scars on my abdomen, I would think it just a dream! -
I’m a week out from surgery and yes I’m hungry. I had the lapband for 10 years and never once felt hungry. I am still weak feeling. I’m now eating protein shakes, broths, jello, Greek yogurt and I added a scrambled egg. The egg did help. I did read that when you don’t get enough protein you will be hungry. I can’t eat more than I am.

My friends had their yearly big bash yesterday. Energy wise I did great, but I was so afraid to eat. I ended up drinking my tea and a ton of Water, and waited till I got home to eat. I wish I could have salad, my doc said not till I am at least six weeks out. Sent from my VS920 4G using RNYTalk

All I want for Christmas in July is a Surgery Date
NotLookinBack posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sooo deflated with this whole thing.. I am sooo over it.. the doctor's office has such a non-shalont attitude about things. I have called and emailed a million times trying to figure out if they changed the code with insurance… I just got of the phone with insurance and a whole new claim has to be submitted by the doctor.. and I got a nasty email from the insurance lady at the doctor’s office earlier saying that she is busy and she can’t submit my stuff this week because she is covering vacations and she has more important things to do that pertain to some patients that have potential life threatening issues not a procedure that is elective.. :’( My vent.... I am a planner.. I have two small kids, a full time career, I volunteer a lot, and I have things and other obligations that I need to move around when it comes to surgery. I want this more than anything.. and it is driving me crazy not being able to plan things down to a T.. I have to have some sort of plan.. I won't have to worry about loosing my hair 3-4 months post-op.. I am going to pull it all out now.. :'( -
Thanks to everyone for the replies. Everything mentioned is what I've heard, but I didn't know if I was missing something. The biggest rule for me to follow right now is the excersize. I have started excersizing 30 minutes a day right now, and my legs are screaming at me. I know that in a week or two, the pain won't be as bad, but I so want to stop. To keep me motivated I made a poster out of a cartoon that says "What fits into your busy schedule better? Excersizing 1 hour a day or being dead 24 hours a day." To everyone good luck!

Well Im back from my trip to Mexicali to see Dr. Aceves and his wonderful staff. I was told by all of you who had seen him how wondeful he was and YES he was!! What a nice man and such a dedicated surgeon. I asked him if he takes any time off, well Sundays of course. He said he loves his profession so much that he could spend every waking hr in the surgery room, now that says a whole lot about the quality of this man and the love of what he does. I was in such good hands. I was scared to death to have the spinal ( i had a bad bad expeience with my baby) but the anaethesist put my mind at ease and i put my trust in him which he thanked me for.... it was a snap, he also had a wonderful bed side manner and made me laugh which lightened the moment. Surgery was over in a blink..literally and Im now one week today and down 6 pnds. I have had the normal abdominal discomfort, but id say having a C section for me was wayyy worse. Im able to get down all of my fluids and Protein requirements so i think that makes a big difference in how I feel and heal. I am sure to take my Nexium first thing in the morning and have had no problems with acid or discomfort in that dept. I have had to deal with head hunger, its so strange your instinct to eat is still there but your new tummy is not hungry. It hard to explain until you experience it, the airport was the toughest for me...even though i would never order pizza in the morning, when we went by the pizza place i just about fell to my knees..haha, but it seems to have passed(tongue in cheek), I made grill cheese sandwhich for my daughter yesterday and tomatoe Soup...a definite head hunger challenge because i just cant take a bite! pretty simple. My stab wounds are healing well, actually all but the drain incision are close to healed. I have two kids, one 5yr old and one 6 month old, id say that has been my biggest challenge...taking it easy. How in the world do you rest when a baby needs you? so im just extra careful when i lift him and try to rest when he is napping. I have had a couple of stings bending over so it just makes me put things in check and remember i have just had major surgery. Im still anxious to make it out of the complications zone, but with a surgeon like Dr Aceves on my side I feel like I made the best best best choice! Anyone trying to decide on a surgeon and worried to death like I was, rest assured your in amazing gifted hands!! Thankyou to Dr A and all of his people! I look forward to my new journey ahead... Cheers, Nikki XX ps; not to mention I met some wondeful patients while I was in Mexicali. When you talk to people you find out that we are all in the same boat just trying to get healthy, happy with oursleves and find a different quality of life that we have lost or never had.

So, on a flight this AM I grabbed something to eat that is a little out of my protein comfort zone. It was a fig granola bar with some chocolate in it. I hadn't had anything to eat and was desperate. Shorter flight so not a lot of options. I fell asleep and woke up actually vomiting/foaming. It was all over my shirt and face. My first concern is how the hell that happened. I also couldn't believe the person who was sitting next to me didn't do something...but whatever. I am on my second week of four traveling all week, back to back, and this is so hard. I see the doc on May 8th, the day after the travel is over and he is not going to be happy. My goals are basically to not vomit on myself and to just get through the travel. Anybody with a high travel job have any suggestions? I have some quest bars but I'm struggling with everything - protein, fluids, vitamins, working out. When I'm at home I get almost everything in without any issues. It's frustrating and I feel like I'm wasting a month where I should be losing a lot just basically trying to maintain status quo (or less). I'm not overeating but I'm not eating correctly.

Don't be discouraged! I had my first fill last Friday. Before the fill I felt the same thing you are describing-could eat anything without problems (week 3 and 4 after banding). I have much better restriction for now. I know, though, that it is only 5 days out and this may change. If that happens I will get another fill...and so on. I think this is a common occurance. I used to think that you get the band and lose the weight- (before surgery and LBT) but it is more of a process than that. From what I've read the most successful banders listen to their bodies, overcome the obstacles and persevere! Good luck. Try not to give back any of your loss. I'm trying to enjoy the process instead of fighting it. Thanks to the collection of wisdom and advice of all the great folks on this board. Good luck. Let us know how it goes! If I were you, unless it changes to early to mid December, I would hold off until January. You want to enjoy the holidays with your babies and follow through with traditions. I had a pretty standard recovery other than a brief stay in the hospital week 2. You never know what could happen as far as complications and you don't want to spend Christmas in the hospital. Many people are readmitted into the hospital due to dehydration 1-2 weeks out. I personally wouldn't take that risk so close to Christmas Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

It's pretty normal to hold more food after a year or two from being sleeved. Makes it a challenge to lose weight and maintain. The weight loss is also painfully slow. Cravings are tough. Once I have carbs/sugar I crave them more. I have to get my discipline back to get the scale to move. Many people go back to basics. Logging, protein and keeping calories down. This may be more information than you want - Feel free to ignore it. The calculator below helped me out. It calculates specifically to you. (sex, age, height, weight, activity level) After you enter your information you will see three tabs (maintaining) (cutting) (bulking) Click cutting to get your macros. enter the numbers into myfitnesspal or food log of your choice - Yes, you can have carbs - It will give you carbohydrate levels low moderate high. Start with moderate and see if you go into weight loss mode...If not go to low carb ratio. This works with any type of diet you are into (palo, keto vegetarian etc) https://tdeecalculator.net/

Baby spoons and other such things

Have you used the sippy cups? How were they? I would have assumed they were like straws and straws aren't allowed after my surgery because it can cause gas the cups I bought just have 3 small holes. they are not spill proof and they don't have straws. I got 4 or 5 for $2.98 at walmart. I'm 48 hours from surgery so I will let you know at the end of the week. -
Feb 25 Surgery Date-Now I want to Cancel!
JerseyGirl68 replied to yologirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congratulations on getting your date! You trust your surgeon and your reasons for moving forward with surgery are all still in place. You can make it the next few weeks. Try and focus on all you'll be able to do after surgery. Gather recipes, clean your closets of things you will never need again. Start your exercise plan... Prepare yourself yes, but try not to only focus on fear of complications. You can do this!! 26 days to a new way of life! -

I know where you're coming from. I backed out of my 1st attempt to start this treck, but a month later I did it. The turning point for me was when I realized that my life wasn't going to get any better - I hated going out anywhere, I was always hurting somewhere, and I could onlys see myself getting fatter and more miserable. I realized that after 30 plus years of trying to do it on my own, I couldn't lose weight without help. The next month I was back on track and was sleeved in about 4 weeks. Hang in there, it is worth it.
