  1. I began loosing hair like crazy 2 weeks post op J I had the same problem of not being able to hit my Protein target neither my Vitamins back then. By the time I became better in both matters, my hair was falling in a crazy way by the third month to the limit that I saw a lady taking a picture of my car seat and when I asked her why? She said I could not imagine that someone would loose that much hair!!! The good news is in couple weeks I will be 7 months out and this gets better by the time “I’m not bald thank god”… My doctor said that the less amount of weight u loose the less hair falling u ll see. I took Biotin and it seemed to help and I used the products that would prevent hair loss like Vichy Shampoo. It will get better, hang in there…
  2. I've been losing my hair since about 3 weeks out. It really doesn't matter what you do, if it's going to fall out, it's going to fall out. My hair is very thin now and I'm pretty sad about it. I'm glad it will come back eventually.
  3. I am just about 8 weeks out, and this week started noticing a lot more hair in the comb every morning. Hoping that my vitamins and healthy diet will keep the hair loss to a minimum! Gah!

    No hunger

I had my lap-band in 2013. Well about 5 months ago I kept throwing up and getting re-flux. I went to the dr and had to get all my fluid removed due to the band was dilated. Well after years of not being able to eat crap food I ate crap I shouldn't have. Well I had my first will 2 weeks ago since my unfilled. I have no hunger drive, the thought of food just makes me turn my head. I keep forcing myself to eat and its hard. In two weeks im down 20lbs.

    heartburn

I see him in two days. I hope it does not cause complications. I'd hate to have issues in my first week. Maybe it's not heartburn. I've never had it before.

    Imagination Failure?

I know what you mean! My doctor set my goal at 140, and I was like "I haven't been 140 since high school in 2001!" But I am only three weeks out and I'm already finding it coming off faster than I ever thought it could. You should go on to YouTube and check out AMYSDMOM. Starting with her first videos she was 300. She runs full marathons now and is 5'9" and 145. It can be done, but your imagination will have to play catchup with your body as it changes.
  7. I got a call from the dietician yesterday telling me that my test results for albumin and Iron were still low. I told her she was mistaken about the albumin because I was holding test results in my hand that I took August 27th that read 3.9 g/dl (range is 3.5-5.0 g/dl). I was upset about the iron because I have been taking 65mg of iron twice a day religiously for the last seven weeks. The constipation has been killing me and I have (TMI) an anal fissure that I've been trying to heal this whole time. I really want to cry cuz nothing seems to be going right. I also found out that the PCIP insurance that I have will expire Dec. 31st 2013 and I'll have to pick another plan. The new plan may not have weight loss surgery as a ryder and then all of this work will have been done for nothing. So I feel like I'm in between a rock and a hard place. I'm bumping my iron up to 65mg 3 times a day in hopes of getting these labs straight by next month (Oct. 8th will be the last of my PCP visits and everything will be ready to be submitted). I just needed to talk about it.
  8. This thread is so concerning to me! My NUT called a couple of weeks ago to tell my iron and vitamin D levels were low. She said I needed to add a vitamin D tablet to the multi, but no additional iron. She said also the low levels wouldn't delay surgery, and the next recheck would be at my 3 month post-op visit. She didn't relay any actual values to me, but after reading this thread, I'm terrified this might be that random something that delays surgery, or if not completely corrected in advance, might be the thing that leads to complications. Pardon my ignorance, but if my levels don't get to that normal range before surgery, what am I looking at? Fatigue? Poor healing? Worse?

    goal outfit

I work out 6 days a week for at least 30 minutes on the treadmill. In the beginning walking now running. I have a hard time drinking Protein Shakes on the regular and getting it in like I should but I only drink Water outside of the Protein. I am now going to the gym and adding spin cycle classes twice a week for an hour. I do the squat challenge, and challenge and arms. You can google that and it will show you 30 day challenges. I stay connected to a support group on here from the month I had my surgery and stay motivated by the stories on here. I weigh myself everyday just so I know what to adjust but I don't get upset if I gain. I just keep pushing through it. I went from size 16 and now I'm back into all my size 8's comfortably.

    Six Month Update

Onderland sounds awesome! Congratulations! I hope I get there too! I have another week until my 9 months. Losing was slow over the holidays. But it was the first time I didn't gain 10 - 15lbs and actually lost some. I hope to be at 90 lbs by my nine month mark. I started a C25K which has ramped up my weight loss again. I now get in around 1100 calories per day and feel great!
  11. Multi-Vitamins have Vitamin E which is a blood thinner, so that's why they have you hold off before and after surgery for a few weeks. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

I'm so hoping for an early February date too! My insurance coordinator turns in the package this week and she has said all along that early February is very likely. I'm so excited and impatient!! Best of luck to all of you!

    February 8th!

My pre-op diet was all liquid getting in at least 64 oz of Fluid per day for two weeks. Part of that was my Carnation Instant Breakfast No Sugar added I did 4x daily. I could drink up to 8 oz of natural, no sugar added fruit juice. Other than that it was either broth, artificially sweetened & non-caffeinated drinks, or Water.

    Well Alert the Media!

Here's the answer to the easy way out comment that stops them cold in their tracks: 1) I've had to go on a restrictive, liquids-only pre-op diet for 2 weeks. 2) I've had to re-lean how to eat again beginning with clear liquids, moving on to pureed, then soft foods, and finally regular food. 3) I can no longer use food to drown out anxiety, emotional pain, etc. I have to deal with it face to face so I have good days and bad days. 4) My stomach has good days and bad days and I don't always no which one it will be. Then I have to carefully eat so as not to overeat and become sick. Food must be carefully and mindfully chewed. 5) I have to work out 3-4x per week 6) I need regular vitamins for the rest of my life. * So tell me again, honey, how I took the easy way out.
  16. My surgery date is November 20 - Harrisonburg, VA, and my Dr. requires 2 night stay which means I will go home on Thanksgiving morning. I have laughed at the irony of this all day. I will literally be sipping while the rest of America gorges. I think it is a perfect week to begin my new sleevie life! I also think it will give Thanksgiving a whole new meaning for me and my family! I am hoping that this time next year I will look back on the tough times and appreciate the true meaning of Thanksgiving.
  17. Pre Op Diet Nausia?

Ditto here, I am on day 10 and felt nausious during the first week but it has passed . I also felt dizzy a lot but the Dr said to not do as much physical stuff as I was doing (slow down LOL) I heat with firewood & its wood season so stackin up 10-15 cords was a little much apparently. You will get through the tummy upset, just keep your eyes on the prize !

5 oz of protein OR 10 cookies

It's so frustrating that the two things I MUST have, water and protein, are the hardest. I ate cheesecake and mac and cheese yesterday. It was so easy. Fortunately, I felt a little sick after a few bites of the CC. im only four weeks out, and I'm horrified at the realization that I had 80% of my HEALTHY stomach removed, yet it won't make a difference if I don't get a mental handle on this. Im still plenty restricted but it's getting easier every day. I'm looking for a therapist this week.

Question about 2 week liquid diet

I start Week 2 on Wednesday, so I'm right behind you. I was revised from lap band surgery to the sleeve last Thursday so this is a little more extreme than I am accustomed to. But, I do hear that the starving mode does subside. The trigger that tells us we're starving was removed during the gastric sleeve. Starts with the letter G & I can't think of it. I believe any "cravings" we might have is more psychological more than anything. Make sure you're drinking plenty of fluids (that should help), and be careful when you start week 2. Our stomach's are still healing & we have to introduce foods back in slowly, and as they tell us. Hang in there!

    sleep study

I actually got a big benefit from the sleep study. For a few years I had bad migraines and my body was always hurting. I have ms, so I just chalked it up to that. After the sleep study the found out I have moderate sleep apnea and fibromyalgia. Got me in anti inflammatory meds for the fibro and stated using a cpap. Not one headache in almost three months.

    Nuclear Stress Test Takers?

Your doctor may recommend a nuclear stress test to diagnose coronary artery disease. Your coronary arteries are the major blood vessels that supply your heart with blood, oxygen and nutrients. Coronary artery disease develops when these arteries become damaged or diseased — usually due to a buildup of deposits called plaques. If you have symptoms that might indicate coronary artery disease, such as shortness of breath or chest pains, a nuclear stress test can help determine if you have coronary artery disease. Before gastric bypass surgery, I underwent almost a day of pre-op testing. Since I had issues, I was scheduled with 3 follow on tests done by specialist in their respective fields. We had one individual in our support group meetings who was scheduled for bariatric surgery the next week, but he got a call from the surgeon. They told him to report immediately to the hospital for open heart surgery. He had the surgery and then about a couple months later after he recovered from that he underwent bariatric surgery.

    2 week pre-op diet

Completed my 1 week of pre op diet. 1 more week to go...
  25. I am still a few weeks away from even getting a surgery date yet but I want to plan ahead. During the liquid diet phase should we be adding protein powder to all of our liquids? If so which ones have you tried that you like? I have noticed that with the high protein low carb diet I have been getting constipated, would it be a good idea to add fiber to my drinks as well? I watched a YouTube video where the girl suggested baby food because it is pre-measured, puréed and you can take them with you to work/school for lunch. What are your thoughts on this? I thought baby food would be considered a slider type food and we should stay away. 🤷🏻‍♀️
