Finished my options class at kaiser on may 25th and I have my appointment to see the surgeon on the 14th. I am a little nervous and at the same time excited. I'm so glad I found this site, so hello everyone!

I never vomited at all after surgery. The closest i came was about a week out, i got nauseous so bad, that i came close. The only kind of "refunding" Ive done is when Ive eaten to fast or got stuck, but that's not the same as vomiting. Everyone handles every aspect of the surgery different. You appear to have handled it quite well. Ive never typed vomiting so many times before, kinda weird, kinda gross. LOL! Good luck!

I work out 5 days a week and work out my abs in one way or another each time, including crunches, lifts TONS of core stuff etc. Never had an issue other then some soreness on the port sight from time to time when I over exert. I would still double check with your doctor though.

Hi Megan and welcome to LBT! Congratulations on being banded! I was banded 3 weeks ago and am doing well. I did have my share of gas pains though. The things that really helped were gasx, walking, and the heating pad. I am also a nurse. I work at Hasbro Children's Hospital in RI. Best of luck to you! Keep us posted on your recovery-Gigi

Any August Sleevers Living In Stall Hell?
doxieville replied to Lucabelle1313's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in a stall, but I wouldn't say it's hell. I've only lost about 6 pounds post-op. while it is a bit disappointing, i get it. I lost 30+ pounds in the 3 month pre-op diet. I know my body and it has always fought me at 210(ish.). Seems to be it's resting point. I know that it will start to lose again. Nobody on here has not lost the weight (or regained it all) unless not on program. And i'm learning how to eat. So i'm happy. And of course I'll be happier when the scale moves again. Sleeved 8/21 Current weight 212 Date in May: 253 -
I was banded 12/10. Lost 20 lbs right away between the pre op diet and being afraid to eat. Then I got stuck. Plateau'd for 3 weeks as the swelling subsided and I could eat more. I didn't gain but it was so frustrating. Now suddenly I am losing again. Really have to concentrate on what and how much I am eating. I get my first fill next week. Down 26 lbs total so far. Yes, it is hard and frustrating, but it is such a relief to be losing weight and not gaining it. It's just a daily struggle to eat right and healthy. But I'm doing it! Thank you to all who are on this site. Very reassuring and helpful. Xoxo

Majot anxiety about weight gain, 6 wks preggers
myturn0421 posted a topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I am having a really hard time and just wanted to express how I was feeling to people that understand. I'm almost 6 weeks pregnant and couldn't be happier, except for the weight gain thing. I haven't finished losing my weight and right now I'm terrified. I had to get completely unfilled, no morning sickness, but it's as if the moment I conceived my band became too tight. I was getting stuck with EVERYTHING I ate. I have already gained 4 pounds. I know that doesn't sound like a lot, but I'm freaking out. I have been so hungry, I wake up needing to eat something. his morning I had an anxiety attack and I can't do this, it's not healthy for me (or the baby)to be so stressed about my weight. I'm trying to relax and calm down.... How did you guys accept this, or did you? :smile2: -
Majot anxiety about weight gain, 6 wks preggers
Pnw_Red replied to myturn0421's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
You're not alone! It's hard, even when you KNOW that it's healthy to gain some weight. I'm at 27 weeks and have managed to keep my weight gain to about 13 pounds so far. That said, my doc's visit yesterday was the first where I saw a big jump-- 5 pounds in a month. It was hard. I'm also looming up on 250, which is another mental block. I started at 322, so I KNOW I'm still WAY thinner than I was. For me, it helped to continue to plan meals and menus and workout as my body allows (starting to run into limitations there.) I don't obsessively count calories, though I check periodically to see that I'm not WAY off base. I've stuck to a moderately bandster friendly diet and have intentionally enjoyed some non-bandster favorites that don't work when my band is tight. HOWEVER, I'm eating more things like big leafy salads (light on the dressing) and raw veggies that I have trouble with otherwise. I'm enjoying a few more whole grain breads and other HEALTHY options that would otherwise give me trouble. My latest obsession is a broccoli coleslaw recipe from an online blog--I eat it by the bowl, sometimes as lunch itself. By enjoying the healthy stuff that doesn't work with the band, I feel like I'm getting a treat in exchange for the weight gain. The sugary/fatty stuff doesn't make me feel good, so I avoid it. It's hard. And depressing. And crazy-making. You're not at ALL unreasonable for finding the prospect of weight gain terrifying. But you DID THE RIGHT THING by getting the unfill! Don't forget that a good 20-25 pounds of pregnancy weight gain is baby-related, NOT counting maternal fat gain! That doesn't mean you'll be 20 pounds lighter the day after babe is born, but you'll be on your way. AND you have your band. It WILL work after baby is here! Good luck to you. There are lots of successful bandsters who have had babies, lost the weight, and gone on to reach goals. You can be one too! -

11 days till surgery and i ate sugar last night! regrets!
MollyF22 replied to thinningdiva's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on 2 week liquid diet. My surgery is Feb 12th as well. It's been rough. The protein shakes are gross. I wasn't feeling to great at work and felt like I was gonna pass out, I had to have some small pretzels sticks. It's gonna be okay. We have time to fix our selves hopefully. -
My coffee use history after surgery is the same. I also have expressos and regular coffee ( not as often). That said, It is not advised to drink coffee before 5 or 6 weeks due to healing and dehydration concerns. My NUT actually said the only time we had to abstain from coffee was 24 hours prior to surgery.

No girl I have hit stalls!!! I’ve had like two so far and they last for about 2 weeks it is super discouraging. Now i don’t step on the scale as much because I’m like what’s the point I know the weight will come off. I’m glad to hear you’re doing so well!!! And 54 lbs since surgery? Wow that’s a lot in less than 2 months. I’ve lost about 30 lbs since surgery, it’s slow but I’ve lost inches for sure I can see my body transforming back to normal lol -

thinningdiva posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
reduced 5 pounds in three days and was at my daughters volleyball tournament late and had PB rice krispies and chili with cornbread. Woke up to acid reflex in the middle of the night. My diet plan does allow solid protein like meat, but no sugar. i feel horrible and will be drinking liquid protein for the rest of pre-op till clear liquid phase. i hope i didn't danger myself for surgery. Anyone else make this mistake? Having surgery on the 12th of Febuary -
Hi everyone, I was told that I couldn't have black pepper two weeks prior to surgery. I start my pre-op diet on Monday so I ordered some bone broth. After I already ordered the broth, I noticed in the ingredients it lists black pepper. Does anyone know why we can't have black pepper? Or has anyone had black pepper with no problems? I'd like to find out what others did prior to surgery! Thanks!!

MONSTER hiatal hernia
Betsy16049 replied to ATXVeg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same here. hernia was the worst my Dr. Has ever seen ( must be what they tell all of us smh lol) I'm 3 weeks post ip and the first 2 1/2 weeks was really bad. I thought something was wrong I thought I was dying but I'm walking normal now. Getting out of bed and down on the floor with the babies is still hard, but I can breathe a lot easier and my heart burn has gotten better -
I’m supposed to begin my 2-week liquid diet on March 25th. Wondering if any of you have done liquid only for more than 2weeks?

How Soon Out Did You Start Exercising?
swizzly replied to turtlebutt825's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I had to wait six weeks for anything but walking, but I still haven't done anything but walking. So in other words, I'm still waiting to start working out. I did add walking to/from work to my routine, so I can't castigate myself for being a complete lazy couch potato. -

Okay...so, i have a question about pills...
Donnainva replied to NeedaChange4good's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
personally, I take all three at once. But thats' me! You see it everywhere on this board--Everyone Is Different! Some people have problems with tiny pills, I can take anything (I've only had one fill-so maybe that will change) I had to skip my blood pressure pills for a few days right before surgery--check with your surgeon -
1st Appt 6/16, deciding on a procedure
ShrinkingPeach replied to keddykat75's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Sleeved on May 15, 2015...took one week off with memorial day and weekends for a total of 11 days. I felt tired but was ready to go back after 7 days. I do have a desk job so also depends on your type of work. Good luck!! -
It will be two weeks since my surgery this coming Friday. I am starting to add soft foods and am planning on keeping it low carb. Do you feel there is more success when you follow a strict Low Carb diet? What are some of your favorite low carb foods? Thanks:)

Newly banded 12/4/12
♥LovetheNewMe♥ replied to Jojo2814's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Jojo and Cassie, I had a lot of nausea post op, I pretty much lived on Gas-x and RX Nausea medication supplied by my doctor. In the days when I could only have liquids I was only able to tolerate 2 ozs or so every 2-3 hours. I felt like that was all I did and I did feel pretty week. I was banded on a Thursday and went back to work on a Monday. I thought because I worked in an office I would be fine but that first week back was really hard and I felt pretty week. My suggestion is make sure you are always sipping on some sort of SF drink in the beginning and do remember that these early days are more about healing than losing weight, that will come after your first fill. I used a lot of creamed soups and once I felt better and had less nausea I added a little unflavored protein powder to help me go a little longer between meals. I also ate a lot of thinned grits and mashed potato's and when I say thin I mean pretty watery. I was so hungry one day I decided to try a saltine cracker because they dissolve well in your mouth, wasn't a good experience for me. Just know the these early days are very hard, you have no real help from your band and you are so excited and eager to start your journey and so frustrated that you are hungry. Know that all of these feelings are normal and you are doing nothing wrong, and Cassie is correct this is the part that is referred to as "bandster hell". You also will eat and drink things during this stage that you later will consider sliders, protein drinks, yogurt, etc. I just encourage you to stay away from high calorie foods now and learn to not bring them around because unfortunately these are the foods that when nothing else goes down they always do. Good luck to both of you and I know you both will do very well. -
Jojo, I also was banded on 12/4. First few days felt like I was punched in the stomach but now on Day 6 I almost feel normal again, EXCEPT for a tightness when I drink Water. Soups, ice pops, etc go down fine, just water. Which I find odd because its the thinniest consistancy. I have two incisions. I am assuming one of those incisions is where my port is located. I go back this week for a follow-up visit. My doctor doesn't even consider doing a fill until 4 week out. (if he even does one he told me) I am glad for this forum and being able to talk about our feelings and what we are going through. It was a huge decision to get this done!! Good Luck Jojo.

Infection prior to surgery?
marly18 replied to mousecat88's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
UTI antibiotics are pretty specific. You should see about treatment prior to surgery. It is usually a 5 day script so there is time to fix it prior to your surgery. I went for my final surgery clearance with my surgeon just over 2 weeks out from surgery and ended up having a UTI. Got some meds and he never mentioned it being a problem.
