I am almost three months out of my surgery and had no problems for the first two months. Now I was 1 week late, then had spotting for about 5 days, and have now had bleeding for about 5 days or so. I hear it can happen with sudden weight loss, but was wondering if anyone else had this problem and what they gyn might have said. I might also be pre-menopausal (I am 53). I do have an appt. with my Gyn on the 25th, but if I am still bleeding I do not know if I should go. Thanks.

Today is my 3 month anniversary of getting my sleeve. I think that I was doing well, I have lost 40 lbs but then all of a sudden it STOPPED. I am getting depressed and I don't know what to do. I have had a couple of stalls but nothing like this. The scale has not moved since I saw my Dr on Feb 23. I see him next week and I am worried about what he is going to tell me. Are these feelings normal? How do I snap out of it? Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my sleeve but I know that I need to get out of this funk that I am in.

Someone mentioned Generic Drugs
pattimomof3nj posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not too long ago someone mentioned that saving money on generic drugs isn't always beneficial. Sorry, I really do not recall who it was, might have been Tiffy! Anyway, I have been taking the generic for Prilosec since I about 4 weeks after surgery to save money. My hubby has been unemployed for 2 years now! Off track.... The other day, I said screw this, the acid is probably what is causing all this hunger and killing me in my efforts to lose this last 19 pounds! I have been picking at everything that is not nailed down! So, I got the Prilosec and took 1 last night, about 15 minutes later, that is all it took, the gurgling stopped!!! I was so happy! My husband even said he couldn't hear it anymore from the other side of the room that whatever i just took must have helped! I will never cheap out on the generic again for this! I will start looking for coupons now!!! Patti -
Why am I feeling like this?
Bumblestitch replied to kgremmy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey there - you and I share surgery dates! It must be normal (or not uncommon) to have a stall at this stage. I just recently had what felt like a nearly 3-week stall where I was hovering at 280, maybe up or down a pound on any given day. That finally broke about a week ago - which is also when I had a follow-up appt with my surgeon. He said it's to be expected to happen from time to time as your body goes through phases of 'relearning' where it is, and will go through periods of stalls to try and maintain a normal state based on your current metabolism. So that was probably about a week and a half ago, and as of this morning I was at 270.5.. hoping I can kiss the 270's goodbye tomorrow morning. I was getting pretty bothered by it too and tried to uptake my Water - that's one thing I'm really bad about... if I'm not hungry, then I don't think about consuming anything.. but if I am hungry, then I'm not supposed to drink anything for 30 minutes pre- and post-meal. See if you can up your water. I don't know if that helped break it or not but it's something you could try. -
ok, so im 7 days out tomorrow. i just moved on to apple sauce, pureed soups, yougert, and pudding. everything is going well. no problems yet. but, there is a can of bean and bacon soup stareing me in the face and i crave it everytime i open the cabinet! i just want to throw it in the food processessor and eat it! my Dr tells me it will be about 3 weeks before i should be eating things that are pureed or mashed potatoes. if i test the waters, would it be alright to eat something like that at one week out?

Does anybody have this app? Its great!!!! It has calorie, carbs, Protein, and fat counts on almost everyfood. There is a recipes section where you can get recipes for all phases. Im 2 months out and a slow loser (26 pnds since surgery day) and currently in my 2nd stall so im going to be doing the phase 1 meals. It says you can lose up to 15pnds in the first 2 weeks. I need that!!!! Of course the amounts of good we will probably be able to consume for one recipe is most likely half, so ill just consider the calorie count 1/2. Anybody want to give this a try with me???? i would love to see if this works being that we technically Atkins dieters anyways lol.

when did your appetite come back?
carolann0117 replied to adriennemarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 4 weeks out... and now I'm starting to feel hungry. I do pretty good during the day...but at dinner, I'm really starting to notice I'm able to eat more than I expected. I haven't had a fill yet... I suppose feeling hungry is a sign it's probably time for that fill. I don't have an apt yet ... so maybe I should be calling my Dr. soon and check in with him. -
Today was my first fill!!!
carol285 replied to mandyb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think there is a "usually" when it comes to these things. My surgery was 10/25/10 & my first fill of 1cc was on 12/1/10. There was 3.2cc's placed in the band at the time of surgery so that gave me a total of 4.2cc's at 5 weeks post-op ( 24.5lb loss at this point). At my 1/5/11 appointment we discussed how much I could eat & how long I stayed satisfied and decided to add .5cc's, so I am now at 4.7cc's at 10 weeks post-op (36lb loss at this point). I can eat any food I have attempted, it just takes less of it to fill me up and to maintain satisfaction. I'm happy with this & my next appointment is 2/2/11 so unless something drastically changes by then I think I will stay status quo on the fill aspect. -
Today was my first fill!!!

I was banded in early Nov and quickly lost 28 lbs by the end of Dec...all with an empty band. Currently, I can eat anything I want...rice, Pasta, bread...I'm just enjoying these foods in smaller amounts. I feel like I'm eating like a "thin" person already. My old Breakfast was 2 eggs, bacon, hashbrowns & a bagel. Now its 1 egg, 1 turkey sausage link and 1 slice of toast...maybe even alittle potatoes. I'm hoping I won't have any sagging skin issues by doing it slow. Also, I can still enjoy going out to eat and I'm not afraid of any "stuck" issues. (I HATE to throw up!!) The band gives me incentive to pick the right foods and not over-indulge. I even told my doctor that I went to McDonalds and had 1 cheeseburger and 1/4 bag of small fries...that's better than my normal large #2 meal with an order of 6 chicken mcnuggets! I feel like I still have a quality of life with eating...not quantity! Just hope my willpower stays the same. At times I wish I can see a big jump on the scale but know that this is for a lifetime...not just right this minute. With this all said...I only got 1cc fill on 12/28 and have lost 2 lbs since then. My doctor said to see how much I lose in 4-6 weeks and that's when we can decide on another small amount or maybe a 1.5cc fill. I Hope everyone has a great year! -
Did you have a hernia repaired too? That caused the most discomfort for me, although it's not really in the area you described. Strangely, I hurt several inches below my port for a few weeks, especially when I bent over. Physician assistant said it was normal.

4 Weeks Post-Op... What Can You Normally Eat?
Kristin replied to NJsharon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with the others...go out and enjoy your visit. I went out three weeks after surgery to Chili's and got a cup of soup. Ate only half of it. Or if they have a turkey sandwich, just pick out the meat and cheese. Our even order without the bread so you don't have the temptation. -
You've got it! They are going to slide down. But, you had the "well satiated" feeling. That's really what you should be looking for. We shouldn't really eat to a "full" feeling - that usually means we've overdone it. Satiated is the goal. (Now, just because I said that, doesn't mean I follow that all the time. ) At only 6 weeks out, you are still learning your "stop" signals and how much is enough for you. And, it's going to change a lot over the next 4 months or so. Just try to rememer the feeling you had today & stop when you get to that point. Good for you!

attempting to cut and past a new updated weight tracker
MyBandJourney2009 commented on MyBandJourney2009's blog entry in Blog 71925
Yaaaaaaaa me,,, I did it, lol:-) Now I'm in the double digits!!! God and exercise have put me on track with the weight loss this week. I go Monday for my third times a charm fill and I think I'll be at around 9 or 10 pounds for the past month. -
I am so glad to see someone else address these issues. I feel like the "closet" bulimic. I thought the band would help me forget about food. When I researched the band, all I was ever told was "I am so full, I don't think about food any longer." This was music to my ears. Unfortunately, the PB'ing occurred and I was loving life!! I wasn't sticking my finger down my throat and the weight was coming off. Unfortunately, I believe that I have slippage. It is my own fault , of course. I had a barium swallow and my barium was not going anywhere but the band was in proper position per my surgeon. I had some fill taken out and in the past two weeks, I can eat everything and anything with minimal PB'ing. I am definitely going to work my band better. Sheri

Post op woman on the pill question
Foxy_lady replied to mmorris4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on the pill for about 5 years then post op I was noticing my period was off by a week, my OBGYN told me it was because my body had gone through a shock and now it's try to recooperate. She said i lost 20% of my body weight so my body is trying to catch up with making 20% more hormones, so she suggested IUD would be best for me. -
today is my 3 week post op .. what can i add to my diet?

I am planning to travel overseas in a few weeks. I was planning to take a supply of my favorite protein powder to get me through the food choices; however, someone thought they may restrict bringing it through Customs. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

What is satisfied?
Rev Me Up! replied to bleelawry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, once you transition to solid food, you will get full in a completely different way. You will get the warning signs that you have had enough (a gurgle or small bubble burp or hiccup - some people sneeze) and if you take another bite your stomach will feel like its going to burst. You will be uncomfortably full. Also, this sensation changed for me every few weeks while I was in the healing phase. You are better off strictly measuring 1/4 of food and only eating that until you get used to your new signals. It wil definitely change when you are eating regular food. Good luck! -
