    I'm sad VERY SAD!

How long ago did you have surgery? If it's in the last month or so, what you're feeling is completely normal; many people have "buyer's remorse" after surgery. I sure did! I couldn't eat anything without pain and nothing tasted good for three months or so. By about 4 months out, I started to enjoy eating again. I can eat pretty much anything now at nine months out, though smaller portions. Which is exactly what I wanted. I could eat beef stew with rice (although, I'm not a fan of rice!). I just have to be careful not to eat junk food, which I can eat too much of too easily. This is a very hard process and I recommend you meet with a bariatric therapist. My family and I really enjoy going out to eat and trying new foods when we travel. We still do that, I just don't finish everything now. You will still be able to enjoy your husband's cooking. I think I appreciate food more now because I'm actually savoring it, not just inhaling it. I think it will get better for you.

For the first few days all I had (and you will need) was water, jello, and clear broth. Actually, your clear liquid 2-day pre op diet continues that first week. Week 2 you can introduce protein shake, yogurt etc as you will be on a liquid diet. I'm still on my clear liquid and can't wait for Thursday to have yogurt.

    Two months

I’m about two weeks post op and feeling a little depressed but this made me feel so hopeful!
  5. I have tried three different brands of multivitamins. No matter how I take it, I throw up some days. I bought some iron-free pills, but I will need to take iron, so I don't know what the point is if I take them separately vs together. I took iron with no issues prior to surgery. I just try to eat a big dinner late, or have a decent sized snack with fat before I take the pill, then go right to bed.

I’m finishing up all of my pre-op work this week. Surgery scheduled for 8:40 A.M. on the 21st! Can’t wait to see the results of this journey.

Well it sounds like you are all doing well on your liver shrink diet which would be my first piece of advice. I had very little pain post op and after my dr commented twice on how well I did on the liver shrink diet I asked the NP if the two were related and she said that getting the liver out of the way definitely makes the surgery easier which means less bruising and stuff so yes that did help. The second piece of advice is to not compare yourself to others during your recovery or weight loss phase. We are all here to cheer each other on but every one of our paths will be unique. Don’t get discouraged if you are a slower loser or have more stalls than others. Trust the process and the weight will come off if you just follow the plan.

    November Surgery Buddies!!!

Yeh I really don't know how stalls and breaking of stalls function no matter how much I read on it LMAO. Though upping calories is a lot of work for me if I adhere to my diet guidelines. I don't want to feel like I am continuously eating throughout the day just to up my calories. I think I'll stick to whatever calories I can consume comfortably without pressuring myself to increase or decrease. Average for me also about 2ish Lbs/week but that includes all the weight I have lost in the first 6 months. Though, I have noticed that every other month I stall or lose slowly. So may be that's the pattern for myself, which again is fine as long as it is spiralling downwards. Just hope I don't stop anytime soon lol. I still have tons of inches especially in the middle which need to come off to a reasonable amount for my body to look symmetrical. Anyhow, let's see how my body progresses. It's good to keep this thread updated to see how everyone is doing.

I’m the 21st as well. I’m on day 7 of the pre-op diet and have lost 12.5 lbs. I gave up Diet Coke a couple months ago after about a 30 year addiction lol. My grandkids are here this week but I’m doing well so far. Already been postponed twice so I’m ready for this one!

Congrats on your pre surgery weight loss!......its the 21st for me too! I agree the biggest struggle has been my morning coffee. I started my preop diet on the 8th because we were out of town for 2 weeks prior for a funeral and everyone wanted to take us out to dinner every night for a week so I didnt get to loose much before my pre op started. Plus I kinda wanted to divorce my bad food habbit but have that one last fling hahah. Eitherway I've been loosing an average of 1.2 lbs a day since I started.
  11. I am 3.5 weeks post op RNY. I am still on the pureed food stage. I am finding that I don't have restriction yet, but I do start to get nauseous as I get full. It's a pretty solid stop sign, but I am still learning to perceive it quickly enough. Do other people have this reaction? Does it last, or should I be looking forward to different fun in the next food stage? Sent from my Pixel 4a using BariatricPal mobile app

    UK self funding sleeve

I had my Sleeve done last November, right in the thick of Covid. I am not sure if Covid made a difference but I imagine it did. My private hospital was picking up a lot of ops from the NHS. It was very busy. In all it took 8 months from start to finish. I was initially told 4 - 6 months. The hospital that I went to had to stop its Bariatric work and have its practices audited. That took an extra, very frustrating 2 months. Every surgeon has their own pre op diet some lucky people have none or just a day on liquids. I got 3 weeks of milk and vegetables. High carb veg was not allowed.

Eating carbs (pasta, rice, or bread )

I have hit “healthy” BMI, and my loss slowed significantly. Since the end of March I have been hanging around 168. Today I was 166.6. So I’m thinking I was just in a stall. My inches still changed during this period. I’m fine if this is where I land, but In the back of my head, I would like to hit 160.

4 days post op and feeling so sick

You just had MAJOR surgery; you can't expect to feel wonderful. It took me about 6 weeks to feel okay, and even then, I had a hard time with the food. You should feel better each day or week. If you start to feel worse, reach out to your surgery center. Hang in there!

Stalls are very common. The closer to a "normal" weight you get, the more slowly your weight loss will go and the more likely you are to have stalls. You can talk to your nutritionist to make sure you're eating the right number of calories and the right types of food for your body and activity level. You may need to eat more or less or exercise more.

    Feeling irritable

I'm the same way! I'm 1 week post today and I'm so freaking snappy with my husband . He's been approved but waiting on his date. But has slipped into old eating habits and I snapped on him yesterday. I'm trying so hard to stay on task after surgery and it's like he doesn't even care how much he eats. He hasn't gained his required weight back and is still losing slowly but I feel like it won't be long before he gains it back. Sent from my SM-G981V using BariatricPal mobile app

Good morning! How are you doing with your pre-op liver shrinking diets? I started mine a day early, I was so excited. (Yes, I'm a wierdo.) So today is officially day 7 for me! I have lost just shy of 10lbs, and managed to not cheat. I won't say it is easy, since I gave up Diet Coke after almost 30 years, and I am working on weaning off caffeine, which is my biggest hurdle. I go for my pre-op testing on Wednesday and then it's just shy of a week until surgery day, YAY! So what are your accomplishments and struggles so far?
  18. which surgery did you have? Have you been like this all along, or is this a new development? Just asking because if you're a bypass patient and if this just started, you could be developing a stricture. You're in the right time frame for it. otherwise, like the above commenter said, maybe your stomach isn't quite ready to progress, so in this case, you'll need to back up and stay at the previous stage for a few more days and try again lastly, lots of people can't handle eggs for the first few weeks or months after surgery - so that could be another reason in any event, I'd let your clinic know what's going on.

Extreme Esophageal pain after lapband drained

When I had my fill completely drained, which was about 2 weeks before my band was removed... I could eat normally again, but I never had pain when I ate. But I do remember scenarios like you mentioned in the theater. I remember being at restaurants and having to excuse myself and having to go outside and pace, or run to the restroom to vomit. Lap Bands imo, should have never been approved. They're an epic failure, and in most patients cause more harm in the sense of complications than good. If you're still having pain, I'd ask your surgeon for an EGD. Have you been scoped recently? It seems like a good idea since you're still having pain...

    May 2022 surgery?

Well I vomited first time this week then 2 more times different days. It was fat free Cottege cheese once and can’t remember the other but I learned that even a couple tablespoons can make you vomit if it’s too much for your tummy and it says noooo more so stop half way before feeling your done eating is the trick for me. yesterday I was hungry for some reason a few times during the day so bites here and there and that worked. the scale started to move ounces down at a time each day again. I’m happy with my progress going down now. Feel like I could be further ahead with the stages but week four and still feel like I should only eat puréed. Tummy hates me. Bored with ninja. Send help. SOS. LOL

    June 2022 surgery buddies

Hey, I had my surgery on the 3rd June, and I haven't had a bowel movement either. I brought it up with my surgeon and he said it can take 10-14 days to have one. After surgery sometimes our bowel goes to "sleep" and takes a little bit to wake up again. Im going to wait till about the 3 week mark and then will let my surgeon know if I still have not gone. Hope your recovery is going well!
  22. Hi everyone Not sure if theres anyone else out there feeling like this. Im on soft stage so having things like egg/ricotta/spinach baked in oven or egg/ricotta pan fried without oil or little bit cous cous with veges or shepards pie, supposed to have half cup volume but im lucky if i have a whole tablespoon worth, i count 20 seconds between each bite and i get these pains in my chest and back, its unbearable. I take medication for heartburn. I constantly feel weak & lethargic Sent from my SM-S908E using BariatricPal mobile app

    May 2022 surgery?

Slow weight loss here too. 12.5g loss over 7 weeks but not too fussed about it. It's all downwards.
  24. I needed to smile, thank you. I'm only 8 weeks post op/36 pound loss and I am not a fan of what my butt is looking like at all. Used to be nice and round then gained an extra 50 and it looked awful and now it's looking deflated and awful! Good news is a mommy makeover is an option for me so I try to hold on to that. Robotic?

I remember those days, of being a single mom with no support. Tough decisions. Thankfully, I do have a vacation time bucket that will cover one week - close to two, by the time of my surgery.
