❤My Revision Story❤
WOLVESFAN1 replied to GreenTealael's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
My revision was on 12/17/19. I am doing awesome! I'm in the pureed stage, but I have not thrown up since the day before surgery. I had Gerd and throwing up so bad that I was aspirating food. I was malnourished and my voice stayed hoarse all the time. I'm definitely keeping what I eat down and my voice is even improving. I've been very pleased thus far. Hoping to start soft foods next week. The revision was the best thing that has happened to me in a long time! -
When I had my bypass 9 months ago I just told everyone I was having surgery and did not elaborate. Mo one asked what kind! I wad out of work for 4 weeks. The weight came off pretty quickly, but if anyone suspected bariatric surgery they didn't say so. I don't think you have to give details! Best wishes. It's amazing how many people can't "stomach" the protein shakes. After I got my lap band 10 years ago I lived on them. Now I can't get them down. Sounds like most of the bypass patients can't drink them.

I’m preparing for revision surgery and I’m wondering what excuse people have used. I want to say I’m having surgery so people understand that I’m incapacitated for a couple weeks just don’t want everyone to know it’s Bariatric surgery. I have enough of a messed up head about my weight that I don’t need the judgement. Also I work w my mom and I woukd tell her but after my last surgery I asked her not to tell anyone and she told her friends so her priveledges have been revoked! I have sinus issues I thought about using that and I also have been having some female issues so I thought about that. Last time I told like 3 different stories and I’m sure most people figured it out. TIA for your advise and non judgement :)

I’m preparing for revision all surgery in the next couple months. I’m concerned about how much I can lose. I originally lost 112 with the sleeve and have gained back about 55-60 (I’m afraid to look). I have heard things like the sleeve portion of the surgery (which I have already had) helps you lose the weight and the rest of the surgery (malabsorption part) helps you keep it off. Wanted to see if there were any people here that have done this revision that can give me the skinny on how much I will lose. ANY advise on what I’m getting myself into is appreciated. All my research points to go but real life experience is always appreciated!

Sleeve to bypass weight loss concern
bikerchick519 replied to GotItDoneInHarlem's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I thought they would do the LINX for me but the doctor said he took my case to a board of doctors internationally and they all said I need a full gastric bypass and not the linx. but of course my insurance has denied the bypass and the linx so I'll just have to keep suffering for now. -
How long did it take for your insurance to approve ?
bikerchick519 replied to Empress jade's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
It took bcbs of ks 2 weeks to deny me for a revision and my revision is for acid reflux. -

bikerchick519 replied to carlacv's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I just found out today I was denied for a revision because even though it's for GERD my insurance says the GERD is a complication from weight loss surgery and therefore they won't pay. I hate insurance! -
Questions about eating
Losingit2018 replied to LawrenShrinking's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had conversion from sleeve to bypass on 11/22. I have also had a hard time finding things that will sit well in my stomach. I am not even able to drink the same shakes that I drank after my sleeve. I saw my dr at the 4 week mark. He said not to worry as long as I can get my fluids and at least 60 grams of protein in. I do this by making sure that I drink two shakes per day. I have never been one to eat dark meat poultry but I did break down and try a drumstick from a rotisserie chicken. That ended up being the easiest meat that I have tried so far. try to get your protein and fluids in even if by shakes. Hopefully you will be able to tolerate more meat at a later time. I do eat a few bites of meat at dinner with my husband but I really can’t eat much at all. you are not alone -
Sleeve to bypass weight loss concern
Losingit2018 replied to GotItDoneInHarlem's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
That’s not true at all. I did choose to revise to bypass partly because I had not lost enough weight with sleeve. However, I was excellent candidate for linx procedure. I opted to do it then changed my mind a few days later. My original surgery was sleeve. oops I now see that you were speaking of lnf and not linx. Sorry -
Sleeve to bypass weight loss concern
bikerchick519 replied to GotItDoneInHarlem's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
is your insurance paying for the bypass? mine (bcbs of ks) just denied mine. they are saying the reflux is a complication of the prior weight loss surgery, which is not necessarily true. -
Sleeve to bypass weight loss concern
bikerchick519 replied to GotItDoneInHarlem's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
i just went through all the testing for GERD and was told the traditional acid reflux surgery isn't an option since most of my stomach was removed with the sleeve. I asked about the Linx surgery but was told the surgeon asked many other doctors and they all said I should have full bypass ( I already had the mini bypass to fix acid reflux but obviously that didn't work). My insurance just denied the surgery today so I'm looking at going back to Mexico, again. -
So I’m 2 months away from my one year mark. I’ve gotten down to 210lbs. So I’ve lost 120lbs total. We tried from 2015-2018 and got pregnant four times but they all resulted in miscarrage due to my weight and weight related health issues (high bp but mainly diabetes) and then had one chemical pregnancy. I didn’t realize why until I went to a professional and he told me I needed to loose weight to have a healthy/successful pregnancy. So I proceeded to have gastric bypass and ended up having the surgery March 27,2019 and here I am healthier and happier. Only thing I have wrong now is anxiety and a rapid heart rate (from being on high bp meds so long) which I’m on medicines so both are under control. Well we have been ttcing since October and still nothing. I was told fertility will raise after the surgery and I’m kinda starting to get disappointed. Did any of you ladies have troubles ttcing after surgery? I guess I’m so discouraged because we tried for so long in the past and now I can’t help but feel like we’re still going to have problems conceiving.

I understand your pain partially. Mine was not open but I had hernia repair with a full bypass. I’m 6wks out still having some discomfort and pain. Your body is traumatized and it’s going to take time to heal. Were you given a binder to wear to help support your stomach? Are you sitting up sleeping (propped on pillows) I used 6 to help sleep, or slept in recliner. It’s a new learning process to know when you’re hungry or thirsty. I still can get in the required liquids and proteins drinks in a day. I get too full even drinking from a shot glass every 15 min. The no water with food is for solids only. What’s your post-op diet after 10 days it should be purée to softs and gradually adding in fish around 4 weeks soft veggies around 6 weeks. That’s how “some” are structured.

elsie77 replied to Krimsonbutterflies's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone, I’ve been lurking for a while, this is my first post. I’m from Ireland but will be traveling to Brussels for a revision from Band to mini gastric bypass on 14th Jan. I’m a few days into my pre-op diet which is just a low fat / no alcohol diet for 2 weeks. Good luck to everyone changing their life in January x -

Gastric sleeve and lupus
MsBrown76 replied to brooksbrittanyanne's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had bypass on 11/21/19, and I was diagnosed with SLE, Sjogrens, and PMR in 2017. Thanks God it’s well controlled with Plaquenil. The only issue I’m experiencing is the fatigue, and I’m noticing hair loss starting. That scares me the most, but I’ve added Biotin to my vitamin regimen. The pain and discomfort I’m still experiencing I’m not contributing that to my Lupus at this time. I had hernia repair too and that’s the area the bulk of my pain is, and lower abdominal region. I wish you the best of luck. Just know there’s no more oral prednisone if you have to use that for flare ups it has to be IV, or injection only from what my doctor told me. It cannot be long term. -
I had bypass 11/21/19 and still having pain and discomfort. For the last week and a half I’m having issues with getting anything down (liquids, chewable vitamins, food etc.). Not sure why, but I finally called my doctor’s nurse today (left vm). I’m using gas-x in case its gas pains no relief, I chew chew chew/sip sip sip before swallowing but everything seems to get stuck in my chest area. When it comes back up it’s a ball of slime nothing else. It’s happens a couple times a day. Anyone else having this issue?

Sleeve to bypass weight loss concern
MsBrown76 replied to GotItDoneInHarlem's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had bypass 11/21/19 and maintained my weight for seven years after my sleeve. I’ve lost a total of 25lbs. My doctor is expecting me to lose up to 40lbs total with the revision which was due to GERD and hiatal hernia. He told me be prepared to lose 30-40lbs overall when I went in for the initial consultation. -
Hello! I had my gastric bypass three weeks ago tomorrow- all of the incision are scabbed over and healing beautifully but one (this biggest one) is still occasionally oozing the bloody stuff that was in the drain. Should I be concerned? It’s just a few drops a day, There is no swelling, redness or pain. It’s a little uncomfortable and hard at times but I think it’s the location (moves a lot when I’m sitting/standing).

Hi All, I am new to this site, so still trying to figure this out. I am 6 days post op, And I basically feel like rubbish. The post op feeling I’ve had was nothing like I would have expected, but then again the surgery I had and planned for was not exactly what I got. My surgeon and I decided the mini gastric bypass was the best route for me as I have chronic Acid reflux. When I was on the operating table the started to make the key hole incisions, after the 2nd one they found a very bad infection on my belly button and infected tissue build up, which lead to open surgery instead of keyhole. They removed a large portion of my stomach too, as they said it would have been dangerous to leave inside because of level of infection. i woke up in the most amount of pain, and I was refused morphine because it was not good for my new stomach. I stayed in hospital 4 nights and was given everything through an IV. just before discharged I was asked given some clear chicken broth to drink and told for the next 10 days my diet would consist of clear broth, yoghurt and water. I am really struggling, physically and mentally. physically I can’t do anything for myself I feel immobile, I walk a couple of minutes and I’m out of breath, I can’t bend I can’t stand straight and sleeping is a nightmare. I also developed a cough due to post nasal drip which as you can imagine is excruciating. my dr performed a scan day 2 post op to make sure everything was fine and it was, my bloods have all been fine, as have my stats but I just feel rubbish. I don’t know when to eat because I don’t know when I’m hungry or full. I can’t stick to the no water rule because I need the water for my cough. I feel nauseous pretty much all the time, my intestines are constantly gurgling, and I seem to not be able to control my bowel movements! Can someone tell me I am just freaking out because a lot has gone on with my body, the dr has said everything is fine so why do I feel like this? thank you so much for reading my essay rosy

Lap Band Slipped... Not sure what to do next
summerset replied to SpaceCowboy74's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Comparing a 189 cm male vs. a 152 cm female in regards to energy expenditure doesn't make much sense. What's too much food and what not is the decision of SpaceCowboy alone. I can eat more with my MGB as well and still weigh less. One can never know how weight will develop after the band is gone. The bypass lottery seems to have given me quite a bit of malabsorption. (It also gave me some intolerances that luckily I don't mind that much.) "Wise choices" are important but when it comes to diet and nutrition there is more than one road to Rome. I deem many choices users on here make in regards to food as flat out unhealthy and unreasonable (a meat burger, bun or no bun - that's something I would consider not a very wise choice). Many of the meals pictured in the "Food before and after" thread - I wouldn't go near them because I think of them as very unhealthy and unreasonable choices. However, it seems to work for a lot of users and if some diet will work long term in regards of both weight and health or not - that's something nobody knows. Trial and error. Not everybody seems to thrive on the same diet. -
So Being post op almost 6 years they pump you full of air so that pain will be there for a few days, walking will help with it. When you have a reversal or a revision it hurts a bit more I felt bad for a week, my wife went through the same procedure and had a ton of pain in the first 48. If you are home and cannot control call the doctor and ask, what the issue can be, I had a kink in the sleeve and it hurt big time. It may hurt now but it is so worth it. 6 years post op I am still loosing and take your vitamins when you are able too, Anemia is a horrible side effect.
