So how was everyones weekend? I'm sorry you're in pain Molly! Sending a big *hug* your way! Mine was ok. Went to a premier jewelry party at my sis in laws. Had to deal with my mother in law. I can't stand that woman! Came home depressed and ready to eat anything that didn't move. I did ok though. I'm losing pretty slow since my last doc appt. I've ony lost 6 pounds in 4 weeks. I suck! I need to stop eating all the sweets. I have been working out more though. Which is good. I'm having a tough time with food this morning. I was getting yogurt stuck so I managed to get down half a yogurt in two hours. Blah!

Did you recieve a booklet that was for post-op? I got two. They look alike. One is for post-op. The front cover has a womans picture and it says "I can succeed." They actually look just alike. I got one post op and the other in my pre op info folder. The booklet is by "Inamed Health," the company that makes the band. That might really scare ya, I am sitting here reading this sentence..Your stomach can only hold 1/4 cup of food ( or 2 oz.)at one time. Eat 3 small meals. It is page 2 of the booklet. I am assuming they are talking about right after surgery. It also says it is very important the first few weeks to avoid putting pressure on the new stomach above the band. If you have an Inamed Band your doctor's office will have this booklet. It is very informative. But as always follow your doctors orders to take care of the band. I am still post-op liquids. But not after Wed. I get mushies, purees, pudding, yogurt, hot cereals, ect. I am looking forward to it too. Good Luck.

Diet Progression

Mine is sugar free fat free pudding, any pureed soup--I made some black bean soup and pureed it--potato soup thinned down/pureed. Yogurt--I eat Voskos, it's a greek yogurt and has approx. 10 grams of protein in a 5 oz cup. And then there's runny cream of wheat or oatmeal. Protein drinks made with soy milk or fat free milk with a tsp. of peanut butter thrown in. That's basically what I've been eating all week. Everything seems to go down fine and it all satisfies my hunger. And water which I have not been drinking enough of. -
Clear liquid diet...SUCKS!!!

Thanks Alot!! Best of luck to you as well. I drank the EAS Carb Controll Shakes from Wal-Mart. Mixed them with some crushed ice, a little bit of milk and plain yogurt in the blender and they were pretty good. Now its no mac n cheese but after all mac n cheese is what got me here.. They are low in carbs and sugar. Plus when you add the milk and plain yogurt that gives you a little more protein. Hope this helps.. Keep us posted on how your doing!! -

Thanks BooCakes! I am pretty sore today, and sitting in the car for 6 hours on the drive home did not help. I need to walk around some more to get rid of the gas pains. Other than that, all is good! Not too hungry, probably had about 500 cals total of soup & yogurt & protein shake today. Much better than all that broth! You will be on the banded side soon! :blushing: -

There were several reasons; excess gas, empty calories, high in sodium and carbohydrates.........I definately don't need any more gas hahahahaha. QUESTION: I haven't had a fill yet, i'm 2wks out almost, should I feel alot of restriction????????? I feel like I'm too hungry........typical day 4oz of V8juice/4oz cottage cheese for breakfast.........2boiled mushed up eggs and some light mayo.......and mushy tuna or tomato soup for dinner and maybe a small smoothie or some yogurt for a snack (I get up at 6am and go to bed at like midnight/1am)...............should I be so hungry inbetween meals. I have 1cc in my band. -

Congratulations Christie! I was banded on 9/1 also. My gas pain is all in my chest too. Walking helps. Every time I walk, I cough - which hurts the belly but I guess that means progress. Full liquids is good, way better than clear, but I can't seem to find anything I am interested in. The cream of chicken Soup was good...all the Protein shakes taste way too sweet. What else is there? Yogurt I guess. We are allowed to have cottage cheese too, I could try that. Not much of an appetite. -

Yea I have had several times where I was so hungry I got light headed. I woke up at 0430 starving, and ate some yogurt. Just a bit ago I had lentil soup, as I was really hungry. I was told to have regular meals and planned snacks, so far though, I have just been eating when hungry. Not sure if your hunger was real or "head hunger". But bacon always smells awesome. What did you do to combat it? I try to wait 30 mins and if I still feel hungry then it must be the real thing. -

Wasn't that yogurt wonderful? I had one week of clear liquids, one week of full liquids, and today I started on pureed foods. I tried 1/2 cup of egg beaters and I sliced a string cheese into it, then nuked it. It was awesome and quite filling. Today I went shopping and bought instant mashed potatoes. Hope it's ok to make them without the margarine cause I don't have any. I am eating really slowly. When we out to lunch the other day, I did eat pureed soup and apple juice at the same time, just to ensure it all went down ok. I was only nauseous one time, when I tried coffee in the hospital. Other than that, I burped for 5 days before I had a toot and a BM. You sound as though you are doing great!!! -
Well, I hope I am back for good! My computer is up and running again. What a fiasco with Tech Support! Sugarbear: I had surgery the same day as you. You could have written my lapband story! As Pam said I ended up with hernia repair also. I had the same "gas" pains as you and in the same location. I kept denying they could be gas pains way up there! I talked to Pam and as she explained, they are not what we know as "normal" gas pains. It is much better now. I still don't have much of an appetite and I have to keep better track of what I am eating. I think I am missing the Protein intake by a bit. I am going to do better starting today. Dr. Pam says that protein is very important for me to heal. And...not to skimp on my pain meds. (Thanks Doc!) I have lost about 13 pounds since starting on the liquid before surgery. Sue in Russia, I have some protein stuff from Wal-Mart. It tastes cruddy with just Water. Yesterday I mixed it with skim supreme milk and a little crushed ice. I added about 1/2 tsp of Crystal Lite (strawberry kiwi this time), thru it in the blender, it was excellent. At least it will not go to waste and it has alot of Proteins per serving. I have been eating the Campbell's microwaveable Soups, yogurt, cream of rice, knox Jello bars, sugar free fudsicles. The soups I only eat about 1/2 serving and then refrigerate the rest for another meal. They are very soothing. Best wishes to all you already banded Marchers and for those of you coming up, we are watching for you and sending good wishes your way! Gail

I haven't had the refried beans do you know why they said no? I had scrambled eggs w/ cheese; flounder sauteed in lemon and a teaspoon of butter, yogurt (greek). On Tuesday when you go to mushy you still can't have refried beans? I am trying the ricotta recipe tomorrow. -

Hello everyone, I was banded on August 31st. The incisions never hurt but the shoulder has been real sore! I did all to do for the gas, got it out, now I am thinking it is just that nerve. But, each day it does get better, but oh wow, it hurt. No sick at my stomach at all which is good. I am now on a protein shake for breakfast, soup and yogurt for lunch and the same for dinner. It is going fine. Pre-op appointment is this Friday. Take care everyone and congrats! -

Hi Guys, I was banded on 09/22 and was very nervous but all went well. I ended up staying for two nights at the hospital because I could not keep anything down but finally Thursday night I could keep in the water and the broth. I am extremely sore and really can't drink too much because I start feeling very sick. I am on clear liquids and doctor said I could have some jello and yogurt but I tried and just couldn't. I've had one sugar-free popsicle and that helped. I also need to have one protein drink a day and I started today and I'm two hours into it and not even close to finishing it. Well I hope it get's better and I am so glad I took the rest of the week off from work... Good Luck to all that are being banded this week and to all that have been banded..... On a good note: I've lost 9 lbs -

Yay for you, Margaret Ann! Oh, today is so much better! I almost feel like myself again Last night I went to bed at 8:00 after a long stressful day at work. I woke up at 7:00 this morning (holy long sleep, Batman!), but it did wonders for me! I've been bustling around cleaning up my house and doing some other work and feeling pretty darn normal. My dermabond is starting to curl up on it's own, so I have a feeling in another shower or two it will be washed off. I have to admit I'm not really impressed with my surgeon's suture work-- my 4 incisions look really sloppy and I think I'm going to be carrying larger than necessary scars (compared to my gall bladder scars which I have to search to find). Oh well-- I'm not a bikini person and don't think I ever will be, so I'll just have to move on. MissJoany, I too had a mysterious bruise show up about 2 days ago lower on my belly below my lowest incision. It was associated with some pretty sharp pain/pulling sensation when I'd lay flat on my back and I was worried, but to see that other people have weird bruises too helps. Plus, it just feels better so whatever was irritated seems to be becoming less so. One week out I'm upping my food intake a little-- maybe a full yogurt spaced out, a full protein drink spaced out (I've taken to adding a good bit to my morning coffee instead of cream and that's helped get it all in), and a small cup of soup for dinner. No extra hunger yet, and I'm enjoying that! Still not getting 64 oz of water but I am up to at least 32, so still need to work on it. Hope you all are doing well, and for our last-of-September bandsters, good luck and its worth it! Just give yourself a week after to maybe wonder what the hell you did -
Thanks for the tip - was hoping for a chewable vitamin and I happen to be going to Costco today anyway. I may need to pick up some more Premier Protein while I'm there. I hate plain vanilla, but I've been using it as a base for smoothies. This morning I mixed it with a non-fat Chobani blueberry yogurt, some fresh blueberries and ice. It is my favorite one so far. So flavorful - yum! I wouldn't be surviving preop if I couldn't add to these shakes. Hope everyone is doing well!

List Of Can/can't Eat Foods...
Jennifer SoFla replied to Parker's Dad's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was having dizzy spells and was told to increase my carbs. I learned really fast that flour tortillas do NOT agree with my sleeve, I have no desire to try corn ones. Also I cannot stomach a scrambled egg but I can eat an egg sunny side up which is interesting. I also think I am post op lactose intolerant, I have tried cheese, yogurt and chocolate milk and all made me sick. I never had a problem with dairy before surgery and since I am only 6 Weeks out I am hoping it will subside. Throwing up the foam has been the worst part for me, I try so hard to avoid vomiting but it is the only thing that relieves that pressure. I think an antacid would help but my doctor doesn't want to put me on anything unless I absolutely can't live without it. -
Anyone From Buffalo, Ny Out There?
QueenCityGal replied to chilihot59's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh yes Greek yogurt is good and very versatile. And it helps keep the digestive tract going! I do the Chobani Zero plain - 7g carbs and 18g protein, which is the most for a Greek yogurt I believe. I sweeten it with a little Splenda and add a few drops of vanilla or almond extract for a nice rich flavor. Or you can add in a little Crystal Light or other sugar-free drink mix and make your own flavors to keep it interesting. -

I like the GNC Gold Standard Vanilla Ice Cream flavored. It's not too sweet, mixes well, and they have other flavors. The Lean shakes are good also. They come in powder form or four Pk bottles. That brand is a little pricey. Also, try to invest in some sugar free syrups, I.e., Torani, Davinci, etc.. Those are good to flavor your shakes or greek yogurts with. Have a lot of liquids around. Good Luck! -
Hi ALL! Tragedy last night...cable went off half way through Idol!!! But, back on tonight...I missed the last 4 performers:confused: ! Hubby and I went out to dinner tonight...he wanted seafood. Went to Joe's Crab Shack...YUMMMMY. I was able to eat a little bit of the salad...first time for salad and it was A-ok, but couldn't eat much. I ordered crabmeat-stuffed mushrooms (an appetizer) and ate 3 of the 4....was TOTALLY satisfied, full and happy!!! No PB's, no heart burn and.....LOTS of leftovers to eat tomorrow!!!! I'm generally eating a frozen (diet) entree for lunch and being happy with it. I eat an egg or a yogurt for breakfast usually. For dinner, again, an egg, entree or crabmeat(or tuna). (Now I can add SALAD!!) I haven't eaten bread AT ALL. My portions are all smaller than before for sure!!! Disappointed in the loss on the scales, but oh well*sigh* it surely will get better. I HAVE to talk positive to myself, because I'm generally my own worst enemy!!! I successfully ate a 1/8" slice of a Snickers bar, put the rest into my desk and never even heard it call my name!!! For me, that's not just great, it's a miracle!! It has now been in my desk for 3 days and only 2 small (1/8") slices are gone. I'm actually VERY proud of myself for that, because I have NO WILLPOWER when it comes to chocolate. I'll get to personals tomorrow night. Got some chores to do tonight and still want a little "relaxing" time for myself and hubby too! JanetC: Thank you SOOOOOOOmuch for keeping the charts on us and letting us all know how great we're really doing ---stuff that's MEASUREABLE!!! You clearly put a lot of time and effort into our thread and I really appreciate it. I look forward to coming to our thread EVERY SINGLE DAY to see what's up with all of you. Later, Nanster

Post Op Diet Journal - Phase 1
Liz1531 replied to mylapspirit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello everyone! It sounds like we're all off to a good start. Now that things are healing up for me I am getting quite a bit more hungry. I broke down today and ate oatmeal and mashed potatoes. I hear you all talking about Phase I and II but my doctor doesn't have that. I was to start on clear liquids for 3 days min. I did this and then over the next few days could add liquid yogurt and a protein shake. I am supposed to be on liquids until 09/20. How long do you guys have to wait to eat mushies? -
Hi everyone! We got back from the beach unscathed. We did cut the trip short and came on on Sunday rather than yesterday. While at the beach we were under Tropical Storm Warnings and decided not to chance the roads flooding. We had a blast at the Water Park! I ran to the top of one of the towers! I wasn't tired - at all and was able to fit into everything I wanted to fit into. I haven't had so much fun in years!!!! I even turned a couple of heads...LOL....they were old men - but damn they still turned! hehehehe Bea - I saw the greek yogurt at the grocery store last night. I almost bought it, but I was being frugal (we spent WAY too much money - a lot unexpectantly) this weekend. I'm going to get some when we get paid this week. That sounds really good! Nurse - The great thing about falling off the wagon - it is now so much easier to get back on!

Anyone else banded on the 9th and how are you feeling? __________________ I was banded on the 9th. I'm feeling pretty good. It hurts to get up and down and I'm trying very hard to relax but I notice when I don't do much the gas builds up and hurts, So basically it's off and on with the gas but I'm absolutely not eating enough. All I had today was water (which I need to gulp but can't) 1/2 of the cream of wheat that the instant package holds. 1/2 a yogurt, 1/2 protein shake (nasty) and that's it. Were you also banded on the 9th and how are you doing with it?
