weight loss plateau
TheNewME71 replied to TheNewME71's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, I was thinking of more exercise. Trying to watch what I eat also I don't eat healthy all the time. I do go out but I try to make the best choice there is when I do. But that's not a lot of going out but still. It just gets frustrating when you know you have more to loose and its been months and no change Thanks again -
You are not alone.. I'm one week post op as of yesterday. I feel the same way.. Did I do the right thing? Could I have done it on my own? Then I snapped out of it and said not at all.. So wanting to eat yes that's me but I know that will soon pass.. Don't be to hard on yourself it took us months and years to gain the weight and it will take time to loose it.. Follow the program and stay motivated.. You will be fine!

11 weeks post op and having trouble keeping any real food down
Spica replied to Spica's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for your comments. It looks like I am a little ahead of you and I am just getting a little frustrated with feeling terrible after eating, the slime thing, and then throwing up, etc... After reading many comments here it looks like everyone has different experiences and challenges to deal with and work through. Looks like the timing for various things are also different for everyone. The weight loss for me has been unreal, but seems like a starvation thing at this point as well. Try to eat something and then get sick - repeat.... In three months many great changes have already happened and I needed to do this for sure, so no regrets, yet. My goal is to loose half my body weight but I do not want to do that in 6 months! I just hope this is a phase that will end soon, cause this sucks for sure. -
Lifting post op..
AmyInOrlando replied to JessicaAnn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Doc is really conservative. My post-op paperwork says 5 lbs the first week and increase at 5 pound increments each week. My problem is.... I'm traveling to Mexico, and I have to pack. I'm going alone, so I'll have to manage my own luggage. My plan is to take a light weight tote, and only bring the bare necessities. Normally, if I was going away for 5 days, I'd have 10 changes of clothes, at least 5 pairs of shoes and purses to match, LOL. My plan is a loose long dress to fly home in, a small pillow and airline blanket in case I get cold on the plane (the Airlines no longer provide those), enough changes of panties, a nightgown, the bare minimum of toiletries (I won't be wearing make up), some broth packets and Mio drops for the last night, a book to read, and a journal. Of course, my I-phone and charger. I'm not bringing my lap top with me since that alone weighs at least 5 lbs. I've already spoken to my "sleeve Sister" and I'm sure we'll have enough to talk about to keep ourselves entertained. Am I missing anything??? -
Hey guys. Every morning I get up I weigh myself. And it appears that I loose a pound a day . Is this normal for anyone else? I mean I love it but is it coming off to fast?

Did u have steri-strips? Or just dermabond? I had steri-strips and my skin was fine while they were on. It was even fine a day or two after I took them off. But then I noticed the itching and redness a couple days after I removed them.

Loves: collar bones, hip bones, ribs, back bones, general muscle definition. Not so much: Going from a 42C to a 34B was not exciting in the least. I also was a little sad that I have a pouchy stomach due to excess skin and little bat wings. BUT I would rather have those problems than being my former fat self

Skin firming lotions
Clementine Sky replied to 2bsleeved26's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't used any lotions specifically for firming your skin. I simply use a sea salt scrub in the shower to exfoliate, and then a body lotion while I'm still damp. In the winter I was also using a body oil. I don't know to what extent firming products help. I think whether or not you develop loose skin depends on various factors, such as how rapidly you lose weight, how much weight you lose, how long you were at your highest weight, and your age. I've lost weight at a very s l o w pace, but the silver lining is absolutely no loose skin. You might want to look on MakeupAlley and see if you can read product reviews for lotions that are supposed to firm your skin. It won't be as specific as feedback from here, of course, but there are far more people who use that site. -
wow, Kartman... good for you - good for all of you. It is interesting because I was just banded and I am really hoping to get to my goal weight but as I see here you actually beat the goal weight and end up much slimmer than you planned if you apply yourself. That is an inspiration. I am 5'10" female surgery date weight - 265bs current weight - 230lbs goal weight - 150lbs I did not choose my goal weight - my doctors office did. They calculated my height to my weight and came up with a perfect BMI for me. I had to loose 110lbs to get there. The amazing thing is that when I was 20 I was at my slimmest and I weighed 160lbs - I was skin and bones so going to 150lbs is a wonderful thought. I could start modeling or something. Anyways - it's all great.

I am at gw (actually below it but haven't updated stats). I went from size 20 to size 8. Prior to wls I had my gb removed and had a true emergency c-section with vertical incision, so my abdomen is definitely scarred. It's also flabbier than I would like, which I'm working on... At my 6 month visit my surgeon asked if I would have a tummy tuck. He told me I'd be a size or two smaller and overall have a nicer (less flab) shape. Given that my stomach is scarred pretty badly I'm not going to be wearing any midriff bearing clothes, and I am overall happy with how I look. However the flab bugs me!! The cost of surgery is pretty high for a vanity project, I have some loose skin but it's not bad. Anyone in a similar situation who did or didn't have a tt and is happy with the results?

It's where u set a goal and challenge your self to loose weight by a certain time :-)

I remember my doctor saying that if you dont get enough nutrients you may have hair loss. However, I've noticed my skin is very dry to a point where i realized it may be because of my new eatin habit. Has anyone experienced anything similar or noticed anything different about their body besides weight loss? or am i just paranoid :paranoid lol

At 3 months 1 wk post - op and NO weight loss in 3 weeks - help
LaurenB8604 replied to raeych75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Does in anyone recommend anything for a stall? I have a Similar situation going on right now but I have lost a pound a week for 3 weeks! I know it's still a loss but I was loosing more up until recently! I wasn't sure if I was doing something wrong or what ! -
Exercise is amazing for our hearts, keeping and building the muscle lost with the weight loss, but technically is only a small part of losing weight. It's actually 90% diet. I have seen many people have this surgery and lose without any exercise at all. That being said, I'm a huge advocate of exercise for the reasons mentioned above. At almost 50, I'm in the best shape of my life thanks to 2 years of steady exercise. I've also managed to reduce some sagging skin a bit. I also think exercise is more important during the maintenance phase to KEEP the weight off than it is during the losing phase.

OK LETS HAVE SOME FUN! I AM GOING TO BE WRITING A BOOK IN THE NEAR FUTURE ABOUT MY WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY, AND I WOULD LIKE SOME INPUT FROM MY FELLOW FRIENDS ON LBT. I WANT TO HAVE A CHAPTER THAT TELLS THE HUMOROUS SIDE OF THIS JOURNEY. SO LETS HAVE A GOOD LAUGH. IT MIGHT BE THAT ONLY US PEOPLE THAT ARE/OR HAVE BEEN HEAVY WILL EVEN "GET IT". BUT THAT OK. SO MAKE SURE TO GIVE US YOUR TWO CENTS. YOU KNOW IT'S TIME TO BE BANDED WHEN............... YOU PULL A MUSCLE, TRYING TO WIPE YOUR BUTT! WHEN YOU CAN'T FIT IN THE AMUSMENT PARK RIDES! WHEN YOU LOOSE THE BAR OF SOAP IN THE SHOWER. WHEN YOU CAN USE YOUR STOMACH AS A TV TRAY! WHEN YOU CANT CLIP THE SEAT BELT IN YOUR CAR ANYMORE. WHEN HAVING SEX, YOUR HUSBAND HAS TO "TEETER TOTTER" OVER YOUR BELLY. WHEN GOING TO THE BATHROOM MAKES YOU BREAK OUT IN A FULL SWEAT! WHEN YOU CAN'T REACH ALL YOUR BODY PARTS TO WASH THEM IN THE SHOWER. WHEN YOU PASS "GAS" AND IT DOES NOT KNOW WHERE TO GO. OK, LETS HERE FROM ALL OF YOU............

Stalled after 1.5 weeks?
Mr Alley Gator replied to Suzi_the_Q's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Relax your body is fighting back and has gone thru a ton, Plus I can tell your anxiety level is high. You are not going to loose the same amount every week. Stay on course and remember you are doing this journey for you health, It is a journey nobody here will tell you it is a sprint. They say eat slow because your body is healing, I suggest you turn your focus to something else that makes you happy, For me it was a puppy, You got this ..... You wanted this ...... You did it! Now the reward in the future will be worth it -

Loose Skin Suggestions
DaleCruse replied to pixystix0116's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm going to suggest an alternate answer: Document, document, document any/all problems you have with excess skin. Then talk with your surgical team. If you have enough documentation & their support, you *may* get your insurance to pay for excess-skin removal surgery. Good luck! -

lol did you need the surgery you look great to me or you just dont have much to loose good luck! -
Hey everyone. So I have a question for the ladies. I am about 15 pounds away from my goal weight. I have lost 120 pounds since February and I definitely have a lot of loose skin. I wear skirts and dresses most of the time. Does anyone have any suggestions on a type of girdle that helps control a saggy butt? I will confess that I have been very cheap with all of my underclothes during this weight loss because I hate to spend a lot of money on something that I will only use for a short time but I’m starting to be really uncomfortable in the ones that I have bought with them riding up and getting into places they shouldn’t be and I’m looking for some suggestions from people who understand the struggle. also, Bras? I have went from a size 38D to a 34B and what I do have is basically loose skin. So I’m finding that every time I bend over, stuff starts falling out if you catch what I’m saying. I do plan on having some plastics done to help with all of this but I want to get to my goal and be at a stable weight before I do all of that but in the meantime, I need help!

When Can I Take a Bath?!

I waited a week after the skin adhesive tape fell off, about 3 weeks after surgery. -
I was shopping at Walgreens looking for liquid Biotin, unfortunately I cannot stomach the pills. Prior to ny discovery I opened the Biotin capsules and poured the powder in my shampoo, conditioner, moroccan oil, castor oil to apply the Vitamin directly to my scalp. Fyi, I do have a lot of new growth from doing this remedy. I found liquid collagen which has 2,000 mg of Biotin and 6,000 of Silica which is excellent for hair growth. The packet says Intensive Nourishment for Skin, Hair and Nails. It comes in a liquid packet you add it to 16 oz of waved and drink. It comes in one flavor strawberry Kiwi. I have to admit it does have a strong vitamin taste to it but who cares I dont want to lose any hair. In addition to what I was doing I'll be drinking this liquid vitamin daily will let you know in a month if any difference. Also came across these yummy gummy Calcium and D3 Vitamins from natures bounty. They are delish. Here are some pics
