This has been a very long journey for me. Over a year ago I decided to do the surgery. I have waited and waited and now we are a little over a week a way. I start my liquid diet next Friday and my surgery is on April 4. So many emotions right now!

Oh I totally understand what you mean! I'm a little over 3 weeks out, and I was wondering if I had that problem. I had a really thick soup and oh man I felt the restriction! But not only that I felt satisfied! It was such a good feeling. I think you will be just fine

So I was at a 1year old's birthday party at a cousins house and I was sitting on the couch (I was sleeved 8/10/15) and all of a sudden another cousin came running in the house screaming my name, I jumped up without thinking because my 9 yr old was outside with her & I thought something happened.... Well she forgot I had surgery and was only kidding, problem is I hurt myself.. I was feeling really good but now after that I am back to feeling like I was week 2 post op. My one incision inside just burns and stings so bad when I bend slightly & turn, Im so upset! I called dr office on Tuesday but never got a call back yet, Guess Im just wondering if anyone ever hurt themselves like me

I was on our home treadmill at 2 weeks post-op and fell onto my stomach and slid back to the floor. I panicked and called the surgeon's office after hours. The surgeon called back and assured me I didn't damage anything but I have a long scar from wrist to elbow on my left arm from the edge of the tread. I still hate that treadmill...lol I am sure you may have pulled something but will probably be fine. Call your surgeon's office again if they don't call you back.

JayTee562 replied to smilan's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same problem last week and was concerned about my surgery getting cancled even though it's a little further away than yours. I went to my pcp got an anitbiotic and some alergy relief meds knowcked it right out. Good luck and hop you feel better -
Have any of you had your surgeon tell you that you need to loose 8 pounds in one week? I’m confused I thought I had 2 weeks to loose that which seems realistic. I was informed by my surgeon today that I won’t be allowed to have surgery unless I lose four more pounds.

I am over 5 weeks out and mine is the same way. I feel that way with certain foods. I do feel like it's getting better as time goes by. -
Birth control pills before surgery
MollyF22 replied to monica36's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to stop a month before surgery since it can cause blood clots. Then like 2 weeks after or so, I can start again -
So I got sleeved exactly a week ago. The following was posted by me at OH for those of you who frequent both sites. I'm just trying to get some insight into a really frustrating situation. I was on IV fluids only until Monday, when I started clears. I was on clears until Tuesday afternoon when my info packet said I could move to purees (including mashed potatoes). So since Tuesday, I've been eating the following: -Refried Beans (made me a bit bloated and unhappy) -Yogurt drinkables with splendaa(very pleasant, easy on my stomach) -pudding cups (fill me up fast, but pleasantly satisfying) -Soup with the chunks strained out, though not necessarily clear broth (ie, tortilla soup and hot & sour) -Soft tofu mashed into thin paste -Runny oatmeal with milk and Splenda -Starbucks Iced Latte with no sugar Now bear in mind I just got back. Protein drinks and sugar free options were very slim down in Mexico, so I had to commit minor carbicide a few times, just to get something in me. But is there anything on this list I should definitely NOT be having one week out? Only the beans felt like a bit too much. I'm also trying to better understand the when and when not to drink in relation to meals, even if the meals are mostly liquid. My doctor's diet schedule is incredibly vague "Softs: 3 days to three weeks" and a lot of the other ones overlap. The confusion comes because Angeles Health's own literature is so damned inconsistent. I dug up one version of their post-op plan that outlines Week1: Clears, Week2: Protein shakes, Week3: Puree, etc. But my doctor's nutritionist handed me a paper packet that said to go from clears to puree on Day 4! So I did, and it even listed mashed potatoes as an option! I'm so confused! And now you all have me worried. My own nutritionist isn't seeing me because she thinks there's no point since my diet is so restrictive. I flat-out told my surgeon and his team I was having yogurt drinkables, strained soup (not necessarily clear), and mashed potatoes and they voiced no objection. *sigh* Another issue is that when you're released from the hospital, they cut you loose and want you to stick to the diet plan. We found no easy protein shakes in Tijuana, nor did we find anything low-carb that I could eat in the pureed category. We really were left to our own devices. My stomach feels okay. I was eating mashed potatoes extremely slowly, licking little bits from my spoon and could only eat an ounce or so before feeling full. I'm perfectly happy to scale it back now that I'm back in the States. Should I just go back to my pre-op protein shakes? How do I know if my sleeve is okay and didn't get stretched?? The potatoes were okay at first, but now I just feel a bit bloated. I guess I'm trying to get some peace of mind that I haven't done any permanent damage to my new sleeve. PS - The coffee dried me out, so I think I've learned my lesson on that.

Worried I screwed up big time
ybnormal replied to Dannymac's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah Starbucks wasn't on my list of things I could have. I will admit to taking two tiny sips of coffee about 2 weeks out and to be honest, those 2 sips were enough for me. -
So I live in a remote community in the Yukon Territory and I am one week away from starting my travel down south to get my surgery! Next Saturday we will drive 400km to Whitehorse to hop on the plane and head to Edmonton. Thankfully my wonderful parents have offered to take our young boys (aged 2 and 4) for a couple of weeks and will drive from Northern BC to Edmonton to pick them up. Then my husband and I hop back on the plane to head down to Seattle for my surgery. I am a bundle of nerves!! Surgery on the 19th of this month.... the time seems to have gone by so quickly since I started the process this summer. No second thoughts, but a lot of curiosity about my life after the sleeve. I am also looking forward to nearly two weeks in a hotel without my boys! This mama needs a break. Nothing to do but watch movies and read books... ahhhh sounds good to me! Does anyone out there have a goal weight? I was 319 when I started my presurgery diet and am now at 311. In my head I am thinking that 170 would be so lovely! The last time I was 170lbs I was around 14. I cannot even imagine what I will look like! Kara

On the plane in one week!!
Thomas CPA replied to Yukon Kara's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I started at 305 got down to 236 for the surgery and now 198. Originally I want to get to 170 but at 198 I am changing to 180. My shoulder blades and ribs are near skin level and talked with my primary care doctor and she thinks 180 to 190 range is where I should stay. Original doctor said 150 which was fine at age 18 but after putting on weight and then taking it off the body has changed. So advice, keep it flexible. Set your goal weight and modify as you go. Remember the surgery will not get you to goal weight, it is designed to help you lose 50 to 60% of excess weight. Diet and exercise will be necessary to get the rest off. Have a safe journey for the operation, a speedy recovery and enjoy your two week vacation from the kids! -
@@Momma_D Don't panic. TOTALLY normal. Your body is adjusting, that's all. I gain weight all the time, but then I'll have a 4 pound weight loss. You are doing nothing wrong, (especially if you've switched over to good Protein instead of mashed potatoes and crackers)...follow plan, get some exercise, and it will come off. Stalls and weight gain are all part of the process, so you may as well get used to it now This journey is not a straight line, but more like steps of stairs. You'll have your ups and downs.

Out of nowhere tonight I suddenly felt like I had to vomit, 3 hours after I ate dinner. I spit up a lot of liquid, and had a horrible burning sensation in my throat, and taste in my mouth. I've never had acid reflux, I suppose that is what it was? I haven't been taking my prilosec the last few weeks, since I thought maybe after two months with no problem I was in the clear? Questions - I did really well yesterday at thanksgiving, except I ate a big chunk of skin from a deep fried Turkey. Could that trigger an attack over 24 hours later? It's the first time I've had anything that fatty in probably eight months. It was the only thing I've done out of the ordinary, today was back to my regular diet, although I did fund a beef Jerky with no carbs, and had about half an ounce of that with lunch. I had pepcid complete in the house, and chewed one of those. I'll call the doctor tomorrow, but can I restart the prilosec tonight? Should I sleep sitting up tonight? Would that help prevent another episode? If that is what people with gerd go through, my sympathy level has just gone through the roof. What a miserable feeling.

I drove about a week after surgery because I had to take my girls to school. My doctor said as long as I wasn't on the prescription pain meds, I could drive when I felt ready. I started walking about two weeks after surgery and then started really "working" out at the gym at six weeks. I still got tired easily, so I had to take it slow at the gym when I first went back. I would plan to take it easy at least the first week when you will need lots of rest.

I had a banging headache for the first 2 weeks or so. I think in my case it was due to to few calories and my body learning to pull energy from itself and not eaten food and also ketosis (sp) it will pass just keep up the fluids and portion shakes

I am 5 months out and doing great, except for heartburn. I use to get it maybe once a week before surgery. after surgery I didn't have it all anymore and I thought how wonderful"......well by the third month it came back with a vengeance! now I seem to get it every day after the evening meals. I take Prilosec which helps. does anyone else have this or know why I am all of a sudden experiencing the heartburn? I still eat only 2 ounces of protein, but I am suppose to be up to four ounces, which I can't eat yet. thanks for any suggestions. I go for my 6 month check up next month.
