    July sleevers?

I was also sleeved on 7/27. I'm on purées and I haven't had anything that's actually pureed. My favorite is tuna mixed with Miracle Whip and I add tiny tiny chopped pickles (no peel or seeds) and cheese. Last night and today I had baked salmon, not even close to a puree but my NUT said it was fine. It felt great to be chewing real delicious food! I also love refried Beans mixed with cheese and plain Greek yogurt.

    Good Snacks?

I always had yogurt, cottage cheese or refried beans. If it was an on the go snack then I had a protein shake or cheese and lunch meat or tuna. That early out from surgery my snacks were aimed to get my protein in. I would also put PB powder or sugar free Hershey syrup in regular or high protein Fairlife milk.

What did you eat today :) ?

Heh. 135.9 today, but I'm beating my way back to 135 before I add back Snacks unless we go out to dinner tonight, in which case I will have a low calorie meal and two cocktails. Yesterday, I had an extra evening snack of 1 oz. pretzels and I only got in 7 cups of Water instead of 8. Today, I'm planning around 1,000 calories for food, 74 grams of Protein and possibly 250 calories in drinks if we go out. I walked for an hour this morning and worked hard in the yard for an hour. I'm pooped, but the yard looks good. Shooting for 8 cups of Fluid again today. B: Soy Latte, then an hour later a slice WW bread, 2 oz. 98% fat free ham, and 1/2 banana (250 calories, 22 g. protein) L: Open faced sandwich of 1/2 large sliced tomato, 1/4 cup grilled summer squash with 1 tsp olive oil, 1 oz. goat cheese, 1 oz. 98% fat free ham, 1 slice WW bread (250 calories, 14 grams protein) S: 1 cup watermelon cubes (80 calories, 0 grams protein D: ? Not sure but will include 3 oz. of protein and some veggies and a starch and come in around 250 calories S: 1 cup Fage 0 yogurt, 1/2 c. blueberries, splenda (170 calories, 23 grams of protein)

    February Sleevers.... Check in!

@Darianna75 I got so excited about deli thin shaved meat but when I tried to eat it, it was a no go..... I couldn't swallow it at all and it just didn't taste good to me anymore.... funny how things I love before, i can't really tolerate or even LIKE now...... Now with the chicken salad .... Here is what i do .... now you might want to do it differently. I really don't love boiled chicken so I buy a roitessere chicken. Then I take off the skin on the breast portion and take my fork and mash it very small....then add greek yogurt and half light mayo with dry ranch dressing seasonings (hidden valley) I tsp mustard, and dill pickly relish. I make it very moist. I can't eat a lot at a time.... only two ounces maybe and a few cracker crisps if i feel like it.... I ate this almost every day for a week. I thought I'd take a break from the chicken salad for a while but i really can't tolerate meat that isn't in some very soft or pureed form. I heard it will eventually get better.

    Any April sleevers

Hello all... New here and sleeved on April 8th. Many of you are before me so it's inspiring and informative to read how you are doing, what your going through and how you've made out. Today i'm 10 day's out and noticed I can take a few bigger sips of liquid. Hopefully I can get a some more liquid in during the day. I find it very difficult to keep a cup in my hand and sip every few minutes. The post surgery pain has subsided substantially after day 6. The first 4 days were terrible for me. I still had to use pain meds and spent 1 extra day in the hospital. I think the walking has helped eliminate it. I did attempt to cheat and have a bit of pizza yesterday. Why did i do that??? (StupidMcNupid) It hurt like crazy and I had to call the Doc. Won't go into what he told me... The pain was so bad I had to pray. Had a "#2 blowout" and felt a little better. 4 hours later i started to normalize and feel better. PLEASE, PLEASE don't follow my lead on that one. I was weak and paid the price so that you guys don't have to. Other than that, my energy levels are quite good. I'm sleeping earlier than normal and waking up a bit early as well. Thats good to get an early morning walk in. I'm unsure who's tracking calorie intake but each day (2 shakes / 2 soups / 3 tsp of yogurt) i'm averaging a little less than 500 calories a day. Scary for me. Doc say's don't worry but wondered how and how you guys that are close in dates to me are doing. D

    A New Day

I'm here. Been busy this weekend. Yesterday did my bike riding and hung out by my friend's house for a while before riding back. Today, I did a ton of yardwork - mowing the lawn (it was way long as my mower was broken until Brad fixed it last Sunday), trimmed bushes, weed whacked, etc. Even washed off my patio. After that, I drove to go pick up a dorm fridge that one of Ericka's friends was selling for Audrey. So she put it in my car and it was rattling the whole way home... So after I put it in my garage, I open it and died laughing.... there were 5 cans of beer in it. Well, I gave them to my neighbor. He was happy and I got a good laugh. Carole, I am sooooo sorry to hear about Sushi. It is so hard to be faced with their ailing health and very difficult too if you do have to make a decision like that. Big hug to you for strength during this difficult time. Terri, thank you for your encouragement and sharing your struggles as well. One thing I am noticing, aside from me being disgusted with myself and my behavior, but when I am active I also don't want to eat crap or eat as much. So, that is something I need to keep up with too. Michelle, thanks for all your encouragement as well and sharing some food ideas. I am actually going to try that. I have some pulled pork (no sauce) from costco and I could easily mix it in like you suggested. Thanks!!!! I bought some apples and fruits today, and getting healthier foods around me. I do like my Greek yogurt as a snack too. I buy the case of light and fit Dannon ones from Costco too and they are only 80 calories and high Protein. I made a casserole of sorts too with lean beef, veggies and tomato sauce. Thanks for being a great cheerleader. Janet, I was so saddened to hear about your friend's story. I was elated to see this a.m. on FB that she is doing well and things look very hopeful! That is so incredible. I am sooooo happy for her and her family. I love you from the bottom (and top) of my butt too! Thanks for the formatting tip too. It works! Weird. Nicole, isn't it awesome to already see your clothes getting loose! That is awesome. I agree, it's clearance racks until you reach goal. Enjoy your concert. I am jealous! Dee, I hope the "computer repair" guy that took your $ gets his day! How can people do that? Plus, we need you back on internet! :)How was the amusement park?

What did you eat today :) ?

OK, I've been eating too much of something. Weight is the top of the bounce range today: 137 (confession: I ate two ballpark hotdogs, 1 oz. BBQ chips, and 1/3 C. chili with cheese and onions instead of my planned dinner last night) So today, it's all good, no junk. 895 calories and 74 grams of Protein. And I will be tracking fluids. When I get back to 135, I will be tracking in maintenance a little better to see where the problem is. I know some people don't want to think about food this much, but I am grateful to be at goal and I'd rather think about food now than think about it after I have more to lose. B: 1 slice WW bread, 2 oz. 98% fat free ham (110 calories, 13 g. protein) S: Iced Decaf Soy Latte (I use Starbucks instant decaf, mix with cold soy milk and then blend with a few ice cubes.) Maybe not enough protein is the issue. I would follow what your surgeon recommends, they should have given you a very specific plan. Greek yogurt is good and has a lot of protein but the protein drinks are really the best way to get it in right now.

    October 2018 Sleevers

I'll be hitting the year mark on the 29th. I FINALLY started feeling a bit better about a month ago. I can finally eat more than yogurt without pain/getting sick. So, SO thankful. My first few months, I was creating such good habits - cooking every night, eating healthy stuff. When I started feeling like death in February, all that went out the window because all I could eat was soft foods like yogurt, cheese, or milk. So, here I am, nearly a year out, and I have to start over trying to create the healthy habits. And for some reason it seems harder now than right after surgery, but I'll do it. Now that I can eat, my loss has slowed. I'm up and down a lot, still about 1-2# down in a month. I'm down 135 total, 114 since surgery. Lost 90% EWL and am down to a 26.7 BMI. I'm now a 12/14 (depending on the brand), down from a 24/26. But I still look super flabby. We'll see how it all shakes out now that I can actually eat.

I am going to be honest ....

Wow...a couple of things here... First, it's totally normal to be more hungry when you workout, even without the band. Your body metabolizes food faster when you're moving around, thus making it work through your system faster. Be careful NOT to drink until at least an hour after a meal. That should slow it down a little. Also, have something small to eat if you are hungry after working out, but be sure it's something higher in Protein. Protein will stay with you longer and make you feel satiated. My doctor told me not to agonize over losing only 2-3 pounds in a month as we're still "looking for my sweet spot". He explained that until I'm where I need to be, I'm really just dieting without help. Sure, we all know that the band is/should be helping along the way, but it's not worth stressing over. Be sure your foods are solids....don't make the mistake I did of eating yogurt and cottage cheese because they're high in protein. They don't stay with you and are considered to be liquid. Eat solids slowly and let them sit in your stomach. I liked the funnel anaolgy. If you put food into the funnel (your modified stomach) and let it work it's way through, it's going to serve you far better than if you run the Water and push it through.... I haven't lost much weight, but I've been exercising. I thought you guys might find it amusing to know---NO LIE---my nutritionist told me to CUT BACK ON THE WORKING OUT!!!! Not something I ever expected. I was doing about 45 minutes of circuit training plus 45 minutes of jogging/walking a day, at least 5 to 6 days a week. Oh, and would it make you feel better to know that I lost 4 pounds that month?! Yes..only 4. LOL. Then, after cutting back, as directed, I only lost 3--just as I anticipated! I was an athlete in college and my body is accustomed to working out 2-3 hours a day. Granted, that was nearly 14 years ago, but once programmed....it's hard to get out of that. Obviously I don't have the time or energy to do that at this age. This is why my nutritionist told me to find some physical activity that would be something sustainable. Meaning, in 3-4 years time, I'll still want/be able to keep it up. Don't make life changes you aren't willing to maintain. They'll just set you up for failure and disappointment. Good luck to all of us! I hope that knowing we're not alone in our frustration makes you all feel as good as it does me. I appreciate your sharing. :smile2:

    Any one in NW WA

Its the day before my surgery. I am on my day of liquids only. I am sure glad i didnt have to do this for 2 weeks prior to surgery and that I only have to do it for one week after surgery. I am having that head hunger. Know it is that, for I had been doing 2 shakes for meals prior and wasnt hungry like this. Granted then I was blending a banana in w/them, which really helps. Will be going to the grocery store now to get more yogurt and a big thing of cream soup to drink to see if that helps curb my appitite.

    Change of tastes in food

Noticed that I like mushy food that I would never have considered eating before, such as yogurt. You couldn't get me to eat that no matter what. Now Chobani (Greek yougurt) is my friend. It's VERY strange not being hungry. Was banded 3/2/11 and have lost 19 lbs. Lots of new found energy. As it is a 15 days, my body in space hasn't quite adjusted. As I can move faster with less effort if I turn too quickly, I have bounced into walls (2x)! So far, so good.

    Torture

I used to work out when I was in the Air Force, so taste isn't too much a factor for me... The best flavor I've tried, it's not the "light" but it's Cake Batter.. a scoop of that mixed with some yogurt.. drool

Mayo Banditos / Friday Weigh In !!!!

I haven't been here in a couple weeks. I just had my second fill this past week on Tuesday, I missed Friday for weighing in, but today Im at 198! I finally got below 200, Wow. Havent seen that in like 14 yrs. Only bad thing is, I think my second fill is too much. I dont understand, she only put 1cc in, and I felt like I needed one. The weight loss picked up wonderfully, but I cant keep anything down. All I can do is liquid or protein shakes. Everyday I try a little soft food, but it feels stuck every time. I actually got some yogurt in ok yesterday, found out I can only hold 2 ounces. Weird. I guess Ill be calling them on Monday if this doesnt get a little better. Im still not complaining tho. I'm just happy to see Onederland!)

    January 2013 Post Op

Marla: I know we were close in weight a few weeks ago. I upped my protein to 80-90g a day, sometimes even get 100g in and now I'm at 166. It is worth it if you can do it. Upping has slowed the hair loss too. I also get around 700 calories a day. I am so thankful I had thick hair to begin with. Monday is month 4, Dec 15. surgery date. I, at first though, was a slow loser, but all in all upping protein has definitely helped me out. Plus I due walk the treadmill on random inclines at 4.0mph and I've restricted my diet to just yogurt, cheese sticks, veggies, some fruit, meat, plus almonds, occasionally. Oh yes, I also eat for breakfast special K plus protein. Plus before workout shake as well as after work out shake. Gen :-) 12/15/12

The foam vomit is the worst! Gross! Thanks for the papaya enzyme tip. I will be buying some ASAP. Wendy's chili is great for me. I've also discovered Fage yogurt which has 28 g of protein per cup. I got it at Walmart. SD:1/28/13 HW:358 DOS:338 CW:310
