Weight Gain Since Starting Purée Meals...what Am I Doing Wrong?
4ALongerLife replied to shamrockjulie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Three weeks is a milestone where almost every single WLS candidate goes through a stall. I think other ones occur, but not sure that they are as predictable as the three week stall is. Sweetie, you have lost 18 lbs. in nineteen days. Please tell me, how much should you have lost? What is an amount in those nineteen days since your surgery that you would be "happy" with? More food for thought: You can't rush perfection. If you do, you'll have severe skin left over anyways from it, so avoid that if you can! Anyways, it took you years to put it on, how long do you think it's gonna take to get it off? Slap me if you must, but... think about what I said pls. Oh and btw, you will have an influx of emotions in this journey whenever you lose quickly. Your body is making hormones for you at your largest and doesn't quite 'catch up' with the amount you lose so quickly. It takes time to recalculate. So best thing I can tell you is this ... be patient as you can... work the program (i.e. dr's orders - Protein, Water, exercise, regular BM schedule, sleep as well as logging your food) .... and best of luck to you, always. xx -

Between Breakfast and lunch I have a Protein powder shake mixed with 1 percent milk. Lunch time I have a small strawberry wild shake with added whey powder from Jamba juice... For dinner I have chicken or beef broth. -------- Today I ventures away from my broth dinner and tried three bites of grilled chicken with goat cheese.. PAINFUL felt like contractions in a snake like moveme. what's everyone else eating? I take a protonix and gummy Vitamins every morning. My Water intake is kinda low. I try and try but It almost hurts.... or maybe it's me self sabatoging. I have always had a low water intake. I think I am a bit twisted and like feeling dehydrated. I have hit the three week stall no weight loss. please let me know what you guys are eating so I can have more ideas

Sleeved 9/11. Starting weight 332 Today's weight 302. -30 so far. I hit that three week Stall hard. Just this morning after a week of not losing I was down 2. Thankgoodness. -
I'm going on to a three week stall. This is no fun. I realized that as soon as I got my period is when I stopped going down. I've been walking for 30-45 mins a day. Getting in for the past three days over 60 grams of protein and about 64 oz of water. I only eat chicken beef or egg. I follow everything my Dr said. Do you think the scale will start moving soon?

Sleeved 9/13 down 17 pounds start weight 197. Pushing through the three week stall. Finally dropped another pound. Jogging a mile on the treadmill everyday. Work hard on getting protein and water. Sometimes it's harder than others . I am eating some of my protien now. I get full fast though. Going to a nut group class tonight at Forest park medical . Hoping for some good info to help me on this journey.

I have had reflux for years. Took Nexium I had a upper GI and was diagnosed with Barrett's Esaphogus I am in early stage no dysplasia. First thing he told me was to lose weight. Not easy cause I'm also a diabetic high cholesterol sleep apnea and high blood pressure. Lots of meds made me tired. He told me I needed to lose 70 pounds. I went to see a doctor about gastric surgery. He and my gastro doc talk and decided the sleeve would work for me. I had surgery the 13 of sept and have lost 15 pounds. I'm off all of my meds. Oh BTW they found a hiatal hernia whie in there. What a difference that made getting that puppy fixed. I do get Gas. Not the same as reflux I use gas x strips. No reflux. Mainly I'm sure is because my diet has changed so much. Both doctors told me my acid levels would drop. Not all doctors would agree the sleeve is good when you have Barrett's but both my doctors felt it was a good choice for me. Wishing you luck!! I'm down to 183. Enduring what everyone refers to as the three week stall. I'm gonna up my walking tomorrow and switch up some of the liquids soups proteins ect.. To get my metabolism moving again. Take care!!

I love how simple things are such great accomplishments! Congrats on your towel covering up all of you! That's awesome. I'm waiting to see if I will have a three week stall (I'm at 2 weeks tomorrow post op). If there is a stall, your post has relieved me. Thank you!

Yes, Yes . . we are all very different in the way we lose weight. However with out sorting through every post ever made on VST I was wondering what are the most common times to stall through out the first year and do they last for different amounts of time. Example, if three weeks and 5 months are common stall points , does the three week stall only last one week where the 5 month stall last a month ? Stalls seem to get everyone in such a feisty mood I thought if i just prepared for one in my head I could psych it out

Stalls normally happen around the time of my period... (I also was able to and wanted to eat some more around that time) Also... I got the infamous three week stall. As far as overcoming the stall.. I really didn't do anything. I just continued doing what I was doing. I was doing pretty well with exercise for a whole but have been slacking recently. As far as foods that disagree with me... Let me just say that I have never thrown up... But it gives me diarrhea I don't do well with any kind of egg (fried or omlete). Anything too high in sugar. Anything too high in fat. At the beginning anything acidic or with garlic powder upset my stomach.

Ok so I had the infamous three week stall... But I got over it. And when I get my period I dont lose as much But I have been stalled for like 2 weeks now and I don't have my period. I think my problem is not enough exercise and not being able to resist temptation as well I am almost five months out and down 110 pounds... But I still weigh 262!! Far from goal Any suggestions? Anyone wanna give me a swift kick in the behind? I feel like I should know the answer but can not enough Protein slow your weight loss? I prob get about 30 grams a day... I know... Bad

I am a little over 4 months post op and my nutritionist said that I should be eating 1200 calories a day. I actually was not eating enough and found when I upped to 1200 a day I started losing again. She said that our bodies are really not intended to function long term on the lower calories. If you had a three week stall, I would strongly consider taking a couple of weeks and trying to experiment with your calories and find a level of calories that your body likes. Mine likes to get around 1200-1400 and I lose about 0.8 every day that I hit that target, of course if I go over, then it doesn't but if I have a really low day in the 800 range, I also gain. I know that this is not what a lot will say, but I find that it works well for me and I wanted my lifestyle to be something i could maintain forever and I know that I could never last long term eating 800 calories a day. I intend to eat 1200-1400 per day for the rest of my life with the occasional day that will go over that.

My Has This Group Grown.. Anywho, How Much Have You Lost Far?
faith2911 replied to Kiki Von Moonshine's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgery was July 13th and I have lost 42.5 pounds so far but 15 were pre-op. So I am a bit disappointed even though I know I shouldn't be. I had a three week stall that began at the three week mark. -
Go to the search bar and input "three week stall"... if you are at four, consider yourself lucky. The "three week stall" is one of the most common ones almost all sleevers experience. Hang in there and do what you are supposed to and it will subside. More stalls to come eventually, but be patient!

Feeling Frustrated And Depressed
Izuri replied to milkD's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a three week stall at week three that I just finally have come out of. I tried changing around everything, increasing Protein, walking, Water, decreasing carbs. Nothing helped. I have no clue what eventually knocked me off the stall, but I do know one thing - it sucked! I can't imagine how you're feeling six weeks into one. My clothes don't feel a whole lot different, but I was slowly losing an inch here and there, so if you're not measuring, maybe that'd help you keep going? I know you already acknowledged the low water, but that would be one thing to add. When you work out it can be really important to replace water. Hmmmm...Have you tried switching up the type of workout you do? I know other times I've reached plateaus in diets I was able to get over the plateau by exercising at a different time of day, for example, moving it to early morning to get my metabolism up. Or changing which workout I was doing so that I wasn't stuck in the same thing every day. On that same token, are you eating the same types of foods every day? That's another thing that will throw me into a plateau. My brother is a creature of habit and has the exact same lunch every day. If I do that, I will stay put at the exact same weight. My body likes it when things are consistent and will try its very best to keep them there. Are you getting in enough fiber? That might help keep your digestive system moving. I'm not sure if it will help the scale, but it would be a healthy thing to have in your diet. I'm not sure what else, but you will get through this! If you are doing the right things your body will eventually have to give up and let the scale move. For the mean time, maybe put the scale away (I know this is so ridiculously hard to do, maybe you'll be better at it than I was!), set some fitness goals instead of scale goals, and measure. You can still be successful even when the scale isn't moving. -
I agree with butterthebean....I actually laughed at some of the post...laughter is good for the soul....everyone here really want to see people succeed. I fell off because for some reason I stop wanting meat & only wanted soft stuff, such as macaroni salad, mashed potatoes...I got back up & dust myself off....I started back to protein shakes to get back on track. I was doing the happy dance today after I got on the scale & down three more lbs after a three week stall...yayyy me

I am 4 months out and have only lost 52 pounds, so I'm behind you!! I have been on a three week stall and feel huge today!! I laughed when a coworker told me I looked really skinny. I'm like - um, 210 pounds on a 5' 3" gal is skinny? Compared to 262 pounds I guess it is. We all have our good days and our bad ones. Try not to think about what others say or what you THINK they are thinking - you are most likely way off base. I hope you can get your mindset it a better place. We're here for you!!
