Hello lovely people. So im confused on how every forum including my own surgeons says all different times to start things after surgery. Some day week 1-2 u can have mashed pot some say no only creamed soups some say yogurts some say You can have some normal food at week 3 please tell me what you all did or are doing . My nutritionist even is saying different then what was on post op papers . I don’t want to mess this up but if I can attempt different things that won’t affect me and is “allowed” I sorta want to. It is. I had mine on 10.11 too. I'm still on liquids the booklet I received says stage 2 is for 2 weeks and then this other paperwork I got at the hospital says 10 days. I can only have protein shakes, soups, water, jello, and Popsicles. I did blend up some soup and then put it through a strainer and pretty much nothing went through =(. I can't wait for applesauce, or yogurt even! Scared but excited. -
1-week post op; feeling all over the place
SpartanMaker replied to KRod6's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I hear ya. I think for some people, they have them open up the capsule and add it to yogurt or something. I didn't have to do that, so didn't worry about it. -
yes and I still use them when I eat yogurt! Just become I like them. I got mine at Target.

Those leftover two ounce disposable cups are good later on to measure hummus and sauces/ dressings and stuff. One tablespoon is 0.5 fl oz. Most sauces use two tbsp as a serving so half that cup is one serving. I carry a cooler with me when I am out and about and I always have my salad dressing so if I stop for lunch I have my own which is the yogurt dressing so it’s quite a few less calories. Now I actually carry it in a different container and I eyeball it but that is after measuring it in those containers many times first.

When did your program give you the OK to take vitamins?
ms.sss replied to raspberrylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was advised to take them as soon as I got home (i.e., tue day after surgery). And yes, they made me nauseous…particularly the calcium pills, and the multivitamin to a lesser degree, but still quease-inducing. After a few weeks I switched to calcium chews, which where much better, and I dealt with the multivitamin as best i could (i tolerated them better when i had something in my stomach, but i ate very, very little the first month, so it was challenging. Around 2 months post, when i could stand to eat again, i would bury my multivitamin in a tbsp of greek yogurt and down it. That seemed to do the trick. -
I use Baritastic and agree with another poster that since it is designed for toward bariatric patients it works very well for my needs, tracking important markers like protein, calcium, water, carbs, fat. It is very easy to scan the barcodes of different foods like protein shakes, applesauce, tomato soup, yogurt, etc. and keeps track of your weight lost before and since surgery, as well as inches lost. There's a section for daily notes, reminders, a timer for eating (20 minutes to chew, chew, chew!), drinking (there are two warnings for drinking: don't eat yet! and don't drink yet!). So, the way it is tailored for bariatric patients is what makes this app so great. Good luck with whatever you choose to use, I am sure they are all great!

Got my sleeve done on 9/27. Finally into purée foods for my program. Doing good. Still feeling tired but getting in my walking. Have noticed some tooth sensitivity so I’ve upped how often I brush and floss and mouthwash. Definitely not going to purée meat so it’s yogurt and scrambled eggs for me! 😂 -
I need some suggestions! And was wondering what your phase 2 is for food? Please I’m allowed yogurt , cottage cheese and mash potatoes

I had a huge problem early on with nausea and vomiting. I had GERD at night, and it took about 6 months to find the right medication and dosage for me. It took me a while to find the right time in the day to take my doses for my tablets. I take one dose at 4pm and don't eat for 1 hour before and 2 hours after. I take my second dose at midnight and have nothing for 1 hour before and never eat till my breakfast protein yogurt and milky coffee. If my mouth waters I have eaten something my stomach doesn't want yet, usually chicken. I will have to vomit saliva and foam. I also had to take vitamins without any iron as the iron made me nauseous too The nasty taste disappeared when I could eat better I hope you get this sorted quicker than I did, it makes you so weak eating so little

Sometimes restriction takes a bit of time to feel. Due to cut nerves. But I get what you're saying. For me, it depends on the foods that I eat, some offer more restriction than others. Like grilled chicken, denser proteins offer more restriction than say, Greek yogurt or crockpot shredded chicken. The bypass is just a tool, and it will not do all of the work for us, which I have to be mindful of now because when I had a lap band, that thing was so restrictive that almost everything got stuck and felt dense. So when you can, choose denser proteins and weigh/measure your food so your stomach and brain learns what your new "full" feels like. I didn't lose my hunger either like a lot of people do. And I work out and lift weights and that has always made me hungrier, especially when I started weights again at 6 weeks post op. I never experienced nausea, but I know acid can cause nausea. Are you on an acid reducer? -
Low fat mayo is a solid substitute but I really like greek yogurt & cottage cheese (with seasoning) as a substitute for Mayo or any creamy condiment. Adds a nice amount of protein too!

6 weeks post op ZERO WEIGHT LOSS AND DEPRESSED
crazycatladycanada replied to crazycatladycanada's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I track everything I put in my mouth into the bariatric app. I weight everything that is not pre measured. i am on the treadmill or swimming laps at the pool daily. I tried the do nothing method and was gaining so that doesn’t work for my body. i have a Apple Watch I wear 24:7 except when it’s charging that keeps track of everything including my steps, calories burned, caloric intake, etc. my dietitian is the one that said I should be walking or swimming. Things I find so weird when reading about others sleeve surgery: - dumping, I have not thrown up once or felt I was going to. My stomach hates eggs now but it’s just a really uncomfortable feeling I get - everyone has fast weight loss. Me ALMOST nothing. Dr thinks my intial weight loss week one was fluid. We are two months post op. And seven weeks from when I got back and was weighed at my dr. - I can eat more than a cup of food at a time if I wanted to. I don’t. But I can easily polish off a Greek yogurt cup and still be very hungry. -
Hi everyone hope everyone's had a great weekend me um not so much so on Saturday I got a fill. My doctor also had my xray to see if there was a slip and I'm good he said my band was loose and I already had 7cc in. So we did a .5 fill and then that day I had broth some water little yogurt ok then the next day I had hot tea and few sips on premier protein and that's when **** went south besides me gurgling the whole damn day I'm constantly going to the bathroom and throwing up like spit I couldn't sleep well last night and then try taking care of a 2 year old in the mix of all this. I called my Dr and said I need this fill out he said we only added .5 and u were loose u could of even gotten more in he said I'm super swollen and ontop of all the throwing up makes it more swollen causing the bnd to fit more right he said to hang in there just eat ice chips and what not I mean has anyone one had something similar? Where u thought u need a unfil its to tight then all sudden it gets better and then never needing an unfil? There's a big burp that won't come out and it's like stuck I know the acids are crazy in my stomach since I haven't eaten anything I drink water and it just gurgles I tell my Dr this he says just let's see what happens in another 24 hours I wish there was a 24 adjustment doctor uhh hellp Sent from my DE2118 using BariatricPal mobile app

Hi, Welcome! I also have a dairy and fish allergy so it was a bit harder for me to find a more varied diet. For the yogurt I was using Siggi's plant based yogurt but have since moved over to Kite Hill plant based greek yogurt. Less carbs, less calories and more protein. For my drinks I use Evolve mainly. I used to use Orgain and OWYN but I think those both have sunflower in them. Just make sure you read the labels and you will be fine.

Everyone who does this surgery will have a different story, I have found nobody is the same. We all have different regimes and surgeons' recommendations. So, everyone progresses at different rates. It is a mistake to compare yourself to anyone else. Well, I could eat for England as we say! Especially Chinese foods, I loved rice and noodles. Now I am just starting to eat a bit more, but I don't have a lot of hunger and quickly get full, so I have 5 small meals a day and 20 ounces of milk or milk shake a day. That puts my daily calories around 900 - 1200 My breakfast today was almost 4 ounces of protein yogurt and a milky coffee. Lunch was a peeled apple and a 1 ounce of French Brie cheese. I have just had a strawberry milk shake. My evening meal is 2 ounces of homemade pork sate with 1Tbsp of brown rice. The rice is just for show as I can't manage more than 2 tiny bites after the protein. Later I will have an almost sugar free ice lolly [44 Cals] and my milk allowance. If I am short on protein for the day, I will finish the day on 4 ounce of protein yogurt. I usually fit a bit of veg into my day, even if its only in a mug of soup, but not today I am used to seeing my tiny meals, but family and friends are shocked at how little I eat and don't see how big that their portions are.

When your phased plan allows for it, incorporate plain Greek yogurt or a probiotic to assist in the eradication of those icky toots.

There is some very good advice . You are not alone in this. I'm 20 day post op and I have what I call fat brain. I eat not because I'm hungry. I eat because my brain is yet to resolve my habits. I eat late and too much.it has been my issue for 30 years and it will take time to relearn better habit. One thing that I'm doing is to eat better protein at night and have suger free snacks for night. Sugar free jello or pudding and or no added sugar Greek yogurt . Another thing I'm trying as of two days is I put on a timer and eat two small spoonfuls every five minutes. I have tossed out all temptations and snacks in house. If I'm learning new eating habits then everyone in my home is also. No chips, no pop, ice cream or junk food. It is a great time to teach kids the importance of cooking healthy and learning portion control. It is not an easy road but it can be done and you will need support from family and friends. We are here for you also. Best wishes and good health on your weight loss journey!!

I have that habit too. I haven't found a way to stop it though. I tend to use food as a sedative. On a good note though, studies have shown that eating protein like string cheese or Greek yogurt before you go to bed helps build, repair and nourish our muscles, and maximize our workouts. Pistachios and cherries are good at night too. Those help with sleep -
Vitamin deficiency please help
SpartanMaker replied to PennyIris's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I do the Procare Health one-a-day capsule with 45mg of Iron. I have no issues taking large pills, but if you do, you might have to open it and put it in Yogurt or something. They also make a twice a day capsule that I assume is smaller if that's what you need? I looked at the specs on eight different bariatric vitamins and felt like the Procare Health capsule was the best. (It was also the ones my team recommended.)
