So it's that time of year where we get poked a lil harder for that weekly insurance premium because our insurance blows and we have to pay more and more each year. My question is, does anyone know of an individual plan with any insurance company that covers lapband. Sad to say, that is my goal to find an Insurance company that covers it and then I can drop my insurance at work! $62.00 a week for insurance is a little steep for not covering weight loss and after months of emailing back and forth to see if they would add the policy, they say no because it will cause our premiums to go higher....HELLOOOO!?!? Any guidance in the direction would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Ronda

For anyone in the DFW area looking for these products, they carry them in stock in Midlothian at the US DRUG MART. They can get anything, but have a good supply on hand and will carry anything that you ask them to. Stephanie there had the sleeve about a yr and a half ago and is very well versed on what things work, at least for her. She will give you samples to try to see if you like the taste. Just super helpful.

This is a repost in California forums, Sorry: Hi, my name is Ray and I am in the process of getting banded. I have had my first meeting with my Surgeon (Machado), did the blood work, xrays, and met with a nutritionist today. I have to get an evaluation and have no idea where to find one, they provide one at the Machado's office but doesnt go through insurance. If anyone knows where I can go in Sacramento, please let me know. I have BC/BS. Thank you, RG

Dr Kim did my surgery Jan 2012 and since I have lost a little over 90 lbs! If you are looking for a knowledgeable doctor you can trust, Dr Kim is the one! He is out of Colleyville, TX but also handles traveling patients. He knows what he is doing and I totally trusted him. I liked the fact that he was well known. I was so glad I chose him to do my sleeve. He is a very nice gentleman that doesn't beat around the bush one telling you what you need to do to get surgery done. I love that his practice is growing adding more doctors. Dr Holden is a very nice doctor as well. I am truly living life again thanks to Dr Kim! His staff is amazing and very helpful! Dr Kim is the man!! -
Does anyone know if you have your surgery done at the OCC and if needed is there a barriatric doctor in the U.S that would see you, if needed?

I've heard elsewhere that some insurance companies do not require the 6 month supervised diet if you go to a bariatric center of excellence. Does anyone know anything about this? I have BCBS of Tx- TRS Active Care (teacher insurance). I do know that they have centers of excellence, but I don't know if this applies. I call them almost every day with more questions. I just thought I'd put it out here and see if anyone knew anything.

Confused about insurance requirements for bariatric surgery

Hello everyone, I have decided to see a patient advocate at TrueResults in Phoenix to see if I am qualified for the gastric sleeve. I gave all my insurance information to them before my appointment (I have Highmark BCBS through my employer, Centene Corp). The patient advocate informed me that they verified my coverage and that I meet all the requirements for a bariatric surgery. However, my BMI is under 40 and I do have one of the co-morbidity mentioned in the insurance requirements which is HBP. My dilemma is that the patient advocate said that I am required to be on two blood pressure pills in order to qualify - which I am - but the customer service people at Highmark BCBS keep telling me that I need to be on three HBP pills in order to qualify (they even sent me a hard copy of the requirements). I don't know who is right and I don't want to start this journey and to find out that I am denied. Has anybody else experience something like this ? I would think that the insurance people at TrueResults have accurate information, but I doubt it right now. The customer service rep at Highmark gave me the requirements for Highmark BCBS in general, but I know every employer might override these general requirements. Please help ! Thank you. Isabella -

I was banded about two years ago in DeKalb, IL and very sadly the Kishwaukee hospital has to shut down their entire bariatric program due to people not being able to get insurance to approve the surgery...very sad.... -
I was looking into different sites that offer high protien Snacks and such that would be good for the whole family. I was wondering if anyone from Canada has ordered from these sites and had any problems with shipping through customs? Thanks for any information that you can share!

I've seen in a few posts about a website that has good bariatric recipes/menus, but I can't seem to find it now. Can someone tell me what it was? I want to say it had something about "egg" in it? Thanks! I think I get to go to purees tomorrow and am so excited!!
