    blood pressure question...

I had been on b/p medication for 10 years. I was banded on June 5th of this year. One week later I was so dizzy and took my b/p it was 80/50 and my pulse was 42. I called the dr. and they said to go off my medications and continue to monitor my b/p. IT HAS BEEN NORMAL EVER SINCE!!!! That was only one week post op, I was so thrilled. I am now down 76 lbs. and feeling better than ever. So no I didn't gain when I went off, and part of my medication was a diuretic but had no problems.

    Is This Thing Working?

Im curious as to what your weight is present time? I was also sleeved 10/10/16.
  4. It sounds like there is a variety of ways people respond to the sleeve in terms of what they can eat, So there is a gamble in that sense. I had the VBG 12 years ago and could not eat healthy foods. The opening was the size of a dime and the pouch was the size of an egg, so I was very restricted in how much and what types of food.I could eat.....after 10 years the opening got blocked and I had to have surgery to remove half the band...the back half is still in place. Now, I can eat anything, the size is still restricted because of the stapling that had been done so it sort of sounds like it is comparable to the sleeve but I also gained the weight back. I am trying to determine if havign the sleeve done will be worth it....if it will restrict the amount I can eat more than I am restricted now. So Does anyone know the diameter of the sleeve? From what I have been reading it seems lots of people have had problems digesting certain foods or feeling full and uncomfortable. From the diagrams of the sleeve it looks a lot bigger around than the size of a dime yet people describe their experiences which sound exactly like what I went throgh with the VBG. The pouch was the size of an egg and the opening was the size of a dime.....but with the sleeve it is the whole length of the stomach, so I am puzzled when people say their sleeve feels full or they feel uncomfortable with what they have eaten because the sleeze looks a lot bigger than the pouch was.....I hope I explained that clearly enough for people to understand...... Any thoughts?

    No Xs

That is an awesome feeling, isnt it? I got excited last night. We were at our Friday night Bible Study at church and my pastor usually has to order me a 3x (the place that does our tshirts xs-2x are the same price. The 3x is a special order. He had to wait to put it in because of polos that needed to be ordered too. My cousin said try the 2x on. It fit! I went to my pastor and said look I dont have to get you to special order for me anymore! THAT was an awesome feeling! SW 350 (11/15) BSW 260 (10/17/17) CW 217.6 (1/22/18) RGW 199 GW 175

    7 months out

14 months out and sometimes I wish my restriction was as good as 7 to 10 months out. There are days that I have to restrict myself. I believe it gets better. Hang in there.
  9. Hi, i am 6 wks out. Really having trouble getting prot and water in. I am supposed to get min 60g prot, most days i only manage 50 and that's a struggle. Same with fluids, i usually run 8 to 10 oz short. At this point the goal is to get prot from foods, and wean down to one or no prot drinks. Seems here aren't enough hours n the day!! My dr's rule is stop drinking 30 min before a meal, no drinking with a meal, and wait 30 mins after! I've yet to eat more than 1/4c at a time. Can't do eggs, or most dairys, having trouble with denser meats like HB. I get STUFFED after a couple bites or drinks. My paperwork says, " sfop eating or drinking when you feel full!" so i'm totally confused and feeling very defeated. Feeling like the wt loss is very slow.. I've lost around 34lbs since surg10/25. Sw 300/age 50/F/5'10"/ CW 266. I walk, but My back bothers me a lot so not exercising as much as i should. Thanks for reading and any info you might offer.

  13. Hello, I just got banded last week 6/2/10 and wanted to know when you noticed that your weight loss started to slow down. I have already dropped 12 1/2 lbs since the last Dr. visit before surgery. How did you keep yourself motivated to get this this point?

    72 Pounds Down

I was 236 but in that picture I really don't know how much I weight because that was like 5 months before I started going through the process of meeting the surgeon nut during the two week pre op diet lost 17 pounds . After two weeks after surgery I did get really sick with vomiting on and off the whole summer so I think that also had a lot to do with me losing so fast because I wasn't really able to eat like that ( which was the worst part of my experience ) but I was losing a lottt . Like some weeks I was losing 10 pounds in a week . But after I got better I would stall a little and then now I still continue to lose . Like since last week I've lost 8 pounds.

    Excercise

No Pain, No Gain.....or so they say...that's why they call it a "Work" out.... What you feel now, in soreness from what effort you can put into it.....if you keep it up, within time, it will take 10 times the effort to achieve the same pain.... I used to get out of breath carrying groceries into the house.....NOW I run 5 miles (daily) to get out of breath.... We build upon our little victories, one at a time, time after time....

Today was my band fill day, now have 5cc in a 10cc band. I definitely wasn't feeling hungry today. Mid morning: 1 mug of Sustigen (protein shake) Late morning - Lunch: 1 banana Mid afternoon: 1 skim latte Dinner: 1/2 avocado; small baked potato with light cream cheese Snack: 1/2 cup jelly, 2 slices of canned peaches & light custard Calories: 480 approx Hopefully if I can maintain my intake, I should be able to lose 10 lbs in the next couple of weeks.

    What are you eating Nymph's?

I just bought some of the weight control oatmeal but it has more calories than the regular kind... what's up with that? I am having a very difficult day... craving all day long. B'fast: 3/4 c Special K low carb Cereal with 1/2 c skim milk. Snack: 10 oz of Isopure CLEAR 10 Almonds Lunch: Homemade Chix soup with some small noodles, carrots and potatoes PLUS one non fat sugar free yogurt. Snack: 1/2 of an EAS Protein bar ( hated it, but ate it anyway). Dinner: Don't know yet, but I'm hungry! This is going to be a long week until my appt NEXT TUES! I'm thinking I need to do a day of full liquids and stay under 900 calories. Can I do it???? When will I get restriction?

    Cost

I am going to Dr. Ortiz for my banding on 10-31. His cost is $7950.00 right now. They say it is on special but it seems to be the norm. I have researched my hind end off and I feel 1000% confident in my decision! Good luck to you! I am super excited!

    Is This Thing Working?

Ava how are you doing? I feel like you as I had surgery 10/10 and am only 24 lbs down since surgery and 33 lbs since start of pre-op diet. I tell myself that it is such a small amount for what I've been through. But then I, think how hard it was to lose anything before surgery. I tell myself to keep to the plan, but that is becoming harder as my appetite is returning. Two weeks ago I lost 5.7 lbs and was so happy thinking finally I am starting to lose. But last week I gained 3 lbs. Keep the faith, I am convinced we will make it to a better place in our journey.
  23. Hi there, Congrats on surgery! I was lucky and was first up that day. Was at the surgery center at 5:30am, was in pre-op by 6, was in recovery by 7:30 and was released to go home at about 10:30am. Was a wonderfully uneventful experience so was in and out in a flash :clap2: Good luck on Monday!

    8 weeks out!

I agree with kissifur. I think we should all stop saying only. I know this is the very first time I've ever lost 35 pounds in 10 weeks. We have to remember that wls is not a quick fix but a tool. We still have to do our part. I know I'm doing my part and I am happy with any amount of weight loss and so should you all. We can and will reach our goal weights....but only if we put in time and effort. Don't forget to have patience! I wish you all the best of luck and keep uo the great work!
