Everything makea me nausueous
kscdvm replied to shelbyschroepfer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I was in the soft stage, my nutritionist recommended things like Greek yogurt, refried Beans with salsa, sugar free fat free pudding made with skim milk and 1/3 cup dry fat free milk for added Protein. Take it slow and you'll find a routine that you can build on it. I know you haven't had real food in awhile but don't try to jump farther ahead than you are ready for. -
Help Me! ....eating After A Lap Band Fill
NJGirl32 replied to momnear40's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my surgery on May 25th and from that date till August 23rd I pretty much could eat normal food (I would need to stay a little away from bread). I could easily go out to dinner and eat a meal. I could eat pizza. With each fill things got a little different. Then on August 23rd I got the fill that did it for me. It was a huge learning curve becuase my mind wanted to eat but the band would say "Oh no you don't." I usually have a granola bar or a yogurt for Breakfast. I drink coffee-I like it and I only drink 2 cups. At lunch-well that's a tough one because I really can't eat a lot at lunch. I am going to try a Protein shake next week for lunch. If I don't eat lunch I will come home and have a snack (nuts/raisen mix or cheese on a cracker-something like that). For dinner I will either eat a small portion of what I am serving my family or eat 2/3s of a lean cusiene. Then I like my night time snack so that will vary-maybe SF pudding wih whipped cream or a granola bar (I love them) or popcorn-it depends. With that being said it it very easy to eat around the band. Ice cream goes down fine, so does chocolate, and alchol too! I find that if I eat solid Proteins first then I am not hungry for crap. I also found if I skip lunch I get very hungry -so I am working on that. Last night I went out to dinner and I had a small flounder stuffed with crabmeat (the size of a deck of cards)and 2 tablespoons of spinach- it was perfect-except for the Toostie Roll Martini and beers. I don't drink that often and I am losing so a little indulgence is okay for me. I hope things work out for you-you might just be 1 or 2 fills away from the perfect zone. -

Dargar- I was advanced to stage III todays Breakfast was Protein shake, lunch was yogurt and 1 slice of cheese/1 slice turkey and 3 crackers. dinner was 1/3 of a turkey patty, 1/4 baked potato and 4 green beans- dinner was too much- I also went and walked 2 miles today, and have bypassed my Water levels- -
I'm starting the 5 day pouch test tomorrow. I am at 3.5cc now, and today I had a frisco burger from Hardee's. It wasn't even good. I'm just sabotaging myself because I know I can. I should add, I started myplate back again today and after seeing the gross amount of calories in the burger, I adjusted the rest of my day. 140c yogurt, 200c of crab & 2 handfuls of red grapes.

Try anything and everything. I tried chicken salad and was not impressed. Maybe it was the way I made it. Fish, shrimp, shell fish? Also I make protein shakes with mango and strawberries. Also Greek yogurt. Good luck! I know it's frustrating!

February 2021 Sleeve Surgery
NaturalMom replied to LifelongJourney's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Had my surgery on the 23rd. Everything went well. First 24 hours were a bit rough, but now I'm doing okay. Walking 2-3km everyday since Thursday, getting most of my water and protein in. Still sleeping in a recliner, but hoping in the next couple days to move back to my bed. On strained thin liquid diet for 10 days, then smoothie consistency liquids for 10 more days, then purees for the next 10. Hate every protein shake I've tried, so I've been putting unflavored protein in my soups, broths, yogurts and that's been okay. Think I really hit ketosis today because my breath is awful and the taste in my mouth is so, so bad even right after brushing my teeth. Oh, weighed myself this morning for the first time and I'm down 13.8lbs from surgery--YAY! -
I was eating yogurt..when it started......i was like wth...im not hungry..trust n believe...i made cheeseburgers for dinner....and didnt even want a bite

one day at a time replied to one day at a time's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Called the dr. Said to eat some plain Greek yogurt to increase probiotics. If I still have tomorrow to go in due to dehydration issues. He said it is not normal and is not dumping. -

I love the new look of everything here, I thought I had gone to the wrong website! I decided to modify the two protein shakes a day...I have one in the morning, then at lunch I am having a sandwich with fruit, then dinner is lean meat with yogurt and a veggie and fruit. This is working, I am already down 2 lbs. and this will be the third day. So maybe I can lose some of the 12 lbs. before my next appointment. -
You don't DRINK the vinegar, you hold it in your mouth, then spit it out. lol. Surprisingly, my 10yo dd LOVES that program Nova Science Now! We watch it all the time. Pammie... maybe frozen peas or corn would work the same as the blueberries but not stain? Make a vanilla yogurt/protein powder/frozen blueberry smoothie w/the berries... Work today... got a little burned @ the pool yesterday, esp. my eye lids... weird. It's grey today, calling for thunderstorms, so just as well I've got all this work to do! Enjoy your Friday!

I'm in Sheffield. No shakes at all just 3 pints of milk, 2 low fat yogurts and 2 litres of water -
tully, i'm sooo sorry you're having a hard time! i know exactly what you mean about never wanting another protein shake ever. i'm already so freakin' burned out on protein powder, i almost can't stand it, and i still have two weeks to go, PLUS post-op! i know i've been told that not eating ALL the stupid protein will keep you from losing the weight, even if you do everything else right, but it's just so icky. :-( i've managed to get by so far by freezing the "shake" mix, and eating it like that, but it's still horrible tasting. i did eat it once mixed in with yogurt, and that managed to cover the taste pretty well, but i really don't like the taste of yogurt either! *sigh* one thing, though, how's your thyroid? i know one reason it's so damn impossible for me to lose weight just from dieting is because of my underactive thyroid. the only way i've even been able to actually lose weight is to diet AND exercise my butt off... but it's hard to find the strength to exercise when you're only eating 1000 calories a day max. okay... 2 weeks... we can do this... one terrible yet liver shrinking shake at a time.

I also take Metformin. I haven't had a problem yet with my halves going down, but I haven't been filled yet either! I have a pill crusher, but yuck, those things are bitter. I don't always remember to take my evening one, but whenever I check my blood levels they are right where they need to be. I would definately call your PCP and see what he says. I was a grazer before. I'd walk past the kitchen and grab chips or almonds or Cookies. It's been tough, but I've really had to be strong. My new "craving" is cottage cheese. I would have laughed in your face and smacked you with a slice of pizza if you had told me that two months ago. You need to go shopping and have quality stuff on hand. I have so much Soup, sugar free pudding and Jello and yogurt around that I'm not having to worry when I really really feel the need to have something to eat. I bought some little square sushi or dessert plates at Target for 99 cents each and those are my plates. I also bought a 6 pack of colorful, plastic baby spoons that actually look like toothbrush handles. It helps with the portions. Instead of moaning over the amount of food I'm missing out on I look at the plate and say "Hey, look how little satisfies me!" (EVEN if I DON'T feel that way!)

I have to say that as time goes by it does get better. You know as someone that is 3 weeks out (the expert that I am ) The only thing that I can say that I had a taste for was a coke. I did cheat and have a sip and let me tell you, the worst feelig ever!!! Not because of the sip but because of the taste! It didn't taste good at all and that's when I was having the same feelings as you. Will I ever be able to have a burger or a coke? Will going out to dinner ever be something I look forward too? IS LIFE EVER GOING TO BE ENJOYABLE AGAIN?!?!?! Then the all time greatest...Did I do the right thing? I have to say that only time will tell. The pain under the boob thing is a little less painful now. People also talk alot about listening to the band/body. Have to say that its true. In the morning I need something warm first to loosen the band up and then I can have the cold protene shake or yogurt. the pain is worse if I start with something cold. I also need to wait a good 30 to 45 minuted before introducing anything to my stomach in the morning. I think its going to take time for all of us to figure it out.

I start my pre-op diet tomorrow and I had a serious pig out day today. I'll be doing 7 days of a high protein / low carb diet - no white stuff. one fruit and one yogurt per day. I feel very lucky after reading all of your posts about the protein shakes, but I will deal with those after my surgery. One week to go for me then it's on to lifetime skinnyhood! Oh yeah!

What Do U Mean By That?
Webchickadee replied to bandalyons83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Early on I thought I was having problems with dairy, but eventually I figured out that the very loose stools were due to the post-op antibiotics. It cleared up as soon as I finished taking the antibiotics, and started eating mushies and solids. I have not problems with dairy now (5+ months post-op), but I don't drink regular milk (only unsweetened almond milk, once in a while). cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. are all well tolerated (and loved!) Now my biggest challenge is eating too fast (I still haven't learned how to slow down enough!), and occasionally eating too much . Just ONE bite too much can send me into bad stomach pain and I have to lie down or walk around (no sitting, crunching my stomach together even more!). And I get the "slimies" where I have excess saliva production, have to swallow alot and wait for it to pass. Not fun! I also get hiccups when I'm full or slightly past full. -
I have read on the boards of some people doing a mini restart for their sleeve...doing 1 day of Water, 2 days of Protein shakes & then on to other foods. I think lets your sleeve rest & reset a little bit. I also have a hard time getting in my protein, but that is because I am a vegetarian. I too have a greak yogurt every day. Instead of regular Peanut Butter I use PB2. It is a powdered peanut butter that has 85% less fat & calories than peanut butter but a full 5 grams of protein. I also use the PB2 in a shake that I make with almond milk, chocolate Protein powder, frozen banana & PB2. It is so delicious with lots of protein that doesn't taste like a Protein Shake. Another good tip I got from my NUT is eating lightly salted edamame (roasted soy beans). You only need 70 eat 1/4 of a cup for a full 14 grams of protein. Low fat string cheese too. So my average menu looks something like this for protein: Breakfast: 1 cup almond milk 2g 1 scoop protein powder 15g 2 tbsp. PB2 5g Lunch: Non-Fat Plain Greek Yogurt 16g 2tbsp. PB2 5g Snack: 1/4 cup edamame 14g Dinner: Veggies - no protein Snack: 2 Polly-O sting cheese 2% 16g That menu is a total of 73 grams of protein with absolutely no meat, very little carbs or sodium. My NUT is looking for 60-70 g of protein per day. Everything I have eaten, she has approved. Even when the day comes to 73 she said it's okay, but not to push it too much higher. I don't eat the exact same thing every day. Sometimes, for example, I substitute carrots & roasted red pepper hummus for the string cheese. That gives me 61 g per day. I know that this a long reply, but I am hoping that maybe even 1 of these things might help. I think that they are all fairly easy on the stomach & also for digestion. Meat is much harder to break down. You are doing awesome with your loss so far! Congratulations.

I am pre-op and I have a Ninja blender - got it at Target for about $100 - and a Breville juice Fountain Plus - got it at Bed, Bath & Beyond for $150 (before a 20% off coupon). I love both and, as you can see, not horribly expensive. Especially if you are talking about ordering from Pressed Juicery. You can experiment with small batches of veggie combinations to see what you like. Also, everything I have read says that the nutrients start to break down quickly after juicing and to dring within 30-60 minutes after juicing. So I don't know if you would be getting the full benefits from the juice by ordering it. As mentioned before, there are benefits to both juicing and blending. Juicing - I like vegetables but not so much veggie juice, but it works for me because I usually mix veggies and fruits together. I don't even taste the greens when they are with carrots and an apple. Yes it has carbs and surgar, but it also has healthy enzymes, Vitamins and minerals. And can curb a sweet craving without resorting to something that has empty calories. After the sleeve, I won't be able to eat as many veggies/fruits, but can get the same vitamins etc, packed into a drinkable form. As for cleaning, it's a breeze as long as you clean it right afterward. I reuse my plastic grocery bags to line the pulp container so I don't even have to wash that - just pitch the bag. The rest you can easily rinse out or put in the dishwasher. The only "hard" thing is the filter and it comes with a brush to clean it. Really not too bad. Blending - I love my Ninja! Not as good as a Vitamix but I wasn't willing to pay $400 or more for a blender. It does the job. It can crush ice into snow, so it's powerful. I make homemade sorbet for my kids and they LOVE it. I just use frozen fruit (we love raspberries and cherries), a little milk or Water (you don't need much liquid), a little vanilla and a bit of sugar or sweetener to taste. It comes out the consistancy of soft serve or soft sorbet. Eat it as is or put in the freezer if you want a firmer consistancy. I usually make smoothies with greek yogurt and frozen fruit.

Greek yogurt is one of my go-to foods. I love it! I add sunflower seeds, sesame seeds or chia seeds. Gives it crunch, added protein, and nutrition.

yogurt will go down fine and it is the one thing I was able to eat the most of but I gotta tell you it all gets old real quick lol I got to the point that I couldn't even drink a Protein shake anymore it just wouldn't go down the taste and thickness of it just started to make me choke.. I finally order this stuff callled click protein it taste like coffee, alot of people on here will say it is the wrong protein, but liz ( the Nut ) was starting to get so worried about the amount of protein I was getting that she didn't care and told me to drink it even tho it wasn't whey... She also told me I could drink through a straw because I wasn't getting my fluids in and I told her I could drink more with a straw and she said fine then do it. She also allowed me smoothies shakes that I would make using yogurt, calorie countdown milk and fruit or I think in the beginning I was using the torani syrup instead of fruit and then moved on to real fruit later.

what do you eat everyday?
Jachut replied to alygrl77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
for mushies or generally? I tend to eat Cereal and fruit kind of things for breakfast, or shame, skip it all together. Mid morning I've started eating a snack simply because I've started teaching and I have a defined break then. I usually have a piece of fruit and the other day I had a small bowl of vegetable soup. lunch is soup, or a salad (with chicken, tuna or egg) or crackers and cheese. I dont usually eat in the afternoon, when I do, its not good, lol, usually its when I'll give into sugar cravings. dinner is meat and three veg - last night corned beef, mashed potato/pumpkin and steamed veg. during mushies I made a lot lentil dahl, soft salads of avocado/skinned tomato/skinned cucumber/chick peas and a can of flavoured tuna, yogurt, soups etc. -

marykb replied to alygrl77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I was eating mushy food, I did a lot of yogurt, cottage cheese and scrambled eggs. The eggs made me fill full the longest. I eat only 1/4 C per meal and 1 scrambled egg would do it for me.
