Yes its normal to be able to feel it, more so in the mornings and just after youve eaten/drink, after a while you wont notice it, but in about 4 more weeks if it still feels weird talk to your doctor, they may need to adjest it, if you hve any worries always talk to your doctor, but you should be fine once you've completet healed. and 10 pounds is still a lot, remember its a process thats going to take months even years to reach your goal and maintaine it, good luck to you and be proud that youve taken the first step to the new you.

Not losing and frustrated
BBdoodle replied to Christie Frazer-Fernandes's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you exercise? We all stall , keep up the tracking, get your protein and water in and exercise... all three are key !!! -
I am still vomiting up just about everything. Seems the only thing I can handle is water and that even comes up eventually. Any advice? I'm suppose to start vitamins and protein today but I don't see that happening.

I guess it depends where you live because I'm in Los Angeles CA and just finished my class on the 5th but my bestfriend finished her class in July and had surgery 3 weeks to 4 weeks later!!! -
I completed a year of medical weight loss with no luck. I was put on phentramine a week and a half ago and already lost 7lbs. I am happy with how it’s going, but I know as soon as I stop I will gain it right back. I have started the process for vsg, but I’m so scared. I have to wait ten weeks to complete a few insurance requirements and then surgery can be scheduled if I want to go that route. So many mixed feelings! I’ve had therapy and am through with emotional eating. What scares me most is that I’m a single mom to a wonderful six year old little girl. I’ve had a falling out with my family so it’s just the two of us. That makes surgery more difficult. Making a permanent change to my body is scary too. I know deep down it is what I need to do. I want to be able to do everything with my daughter, especially amusement park rides. I’m never want to go on them because I don’t want to be embarrassed if I don’t fit! Anyone else have a similar situation or any advice?

Wednesday I will be three weeks post op, and I am doing great. No problems what so ever! So far I LOVE LOVE LOVE my band....I have steadily been losing weight and that is my goal. I have not had any problems with foods so far, and I hope that it stays that way! I can eat a lot more than I thought I could eat, but it is still not even a fourth of what I used to eat. So all is good!!! Have a great holiday, and keep staying positive !!! -
2 days post lap band
Strike Up the Band replied to SWEETGRACE's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi . . . I am also 3 days out of surgery and the only annoying thing is the gas. I seem to have a spasm in my chest from time to time like I need to burp, but nothing comes up. It's a little scary. I hope that's all it is. Anyway, I haven't stepped onto the scale yet. Too afraid yet. My spirits were in the dumps yesterday, but much better today. The hold that food had on my mind leaves me also at a loss of what to do with my time. I guess I'll go back to knitting. I'm excited about the future too. -
Having Trouble Finding Foods

Hey thats great 41# in six weeks!!! That's wonderful. Right now veggies can be the enemy. I handle those really cheap pizzas by Tostinos but only the supreme flavor just fine. I have an egg intolerance so eggs aren't my thing either. My nut, wasn't big on me eating them until after 12 weeks. But my Dr standards are really strict post op diet was 2 weeks of clear liquids or jello, 2 weeks of full liquids, 2 weeks purée, 2 weeks soft and then regular. Peanut butter is a great source of protein. I remember losing 6# one week & nothing the next! -

My name is Jim and I just had lap band on 11/06/08, I have already lost over 45 LBS!!!!! Well okay, I am streaching the truth a little. I have lost a couple of pounds but have not weighed in yet waiting to see what I lose in the first week. I have been off work, as I work in a physically stressful position and I have been trying to return to a normal lifestyle, but I am constantly fatigued. I did some basic figuring last night and believe that is because I have only been taking in about 350 calories a day. so I am in the process of doubling that today with the High Protien Boost! The only alarming thing that has happened is I had awoken to bruises all around the port sight to the large incision. Have I overdone it on the lifting weight limit, or is the natural to occur after you stop recieving the anti blood clot injections that I had been getting every 6 hours while I was hospitalized (been home 3 days)? Good Luck everyone! Jim

When I first started and got the list of all the things I had to do to prepare I sat down and cried and almost gave up. Then I took a step back and just did things one step at a time and it was much easier than I thought. I am 3 1/2 weeks out now and feel like this is the best decision I ever made. I have lost 30 pounds and feel amazing. I have so much more energy and for the first time actually WANT to exercise, although I can't do anything except walking at this point. I do have cravings for little things like toast with peanut butter but can't eat solids yet. At this point eating more than a couple of tablespoons is uncomfortable so I have no desire to binge or eat things I shouldn't. Take some deep breaths and try to relax and just go one step at a time. Good luck!

TatT3d_GirRL posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi, Like my title says I can't believe I'm doing this! I am a 30 yr old single mom to 3 wonderful boys. They are 14, 6 and 1 1/2. I decided to join a support forum because I am having LAP-BAND® surgery performed on Tuesday!!! Even just thinking those words chokes me! Tomorrow well in a couple of hours I have to go to the hospital for all of the pre- op testing!!! I'm so nervous I can't sleep!!! My life is very complicated! I don't work right now mostly because I am ashamed to be seen in public. I am 4' 10 and weigh 210 lbs I'm always in pain and have become so heavy for myself that it is actually causing a sore in th bottom of my foot! Well I'm going to go read some of your posts! I hope to hear from some of you real soon! Lets take this journey together because I haven't really told anyone in my life and I can't do this alone. -
My paperwork was submitted yesterday for insurance approval!!! I have been fortunate that my coordinator has been on top of things so much and actually sent in my info a few days before she said she would be able to!! Now on to some pre surgery testing and at least 2 weeks if liquid only diet!! Hoping for last week in October/first week in November date!!

Banded in 2009 and had plication TWO days ago
mrsto replied to NinaC's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I felt the same. I was in pain for a good two weeks, and it took a month before I turned the corner. During the first couple of weeks (mostly the first week), there were nights that I'd get up at 2a.m. & take a swig of Lortab. The doctor had told me that this surgery would be nothing compared to the hysterectomy. NOT! The surgery took a lot out of me; I was surprised how long it took to recover completely. But I'm SO glad that I did it! It's doing everything I hoped it would, and I've never had a day with regret. -
Need some encouragement

Everything happens for a reason - maybe this is what God has in store for you. I LOVE my band - and have lost 67 pounds in just over 4 months - it's been like a dream. BUT, you WILL likely be hungry the first few months until you get enough fills to actually feel restriction. I had my 4th fill this week and am JUST NOW at a point where i have any restriction and have to eat slow and chew well. Before then it was pure will power. BEST OF LUCK TO US ALL ON OUR JOURNEYS!!! -
Eeik! Been in this community for 3 years! Still haven't progressed. Where do I start? My PCP? I'm in Massachusetts... Close to Worcester. Any recommendations?

Hi All, I need to vent and I couldn't think of a better place. I scheduled my band for March 30 as I am a teacher and we will be off the following week for the Easter/Passover Break. Plenty of time to recover without having to arrange covarage. Two weeks ago I called the office to check they had everything they need and all systems are go. The woman who is the liason between Dr and Insurance finally answered my third call and told me she was too busy and couldn't get to it then, but said she would call if there was a problem. She never called so I felt sure all was ok. I called again today and she tells me we might not have enough time now to do it on the 30th and wants to look at April 5 (happens to be my 40th BD). By April 5th I will only have Friday and Monday off to recover. Then she said, "let me call you right back" and I haven't heard from her since. Basically, I can arrange covage and I am willing to do it whenever, it just ticks me off that I specifically told them why the 30th was important and they assured me all would go smoothly. I know if this is the worst thing that happens during my band journey I am blessed. Just needed to vent my frustration. Thanks for listening :faint:

Has anyone had the procedure done by a teaching hospital?
Lolly- Singer in the BAND replied to mp8btpc's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Yep- I am having surgery tomorrow 3/2/11, by Dr. Wallace at Froedtert (Teaching Hospital) because as an employee at the Medical College of Wisconsin, it was covered at 100% there. Froedtert is in Milwaukee, WI... And pre-op process has gone really well. Good Luck! -

Mayo Clinic-Rochester,MN visit
long2bethin replied to Mary Kelly's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I see this was back in Jan. so I might be to late to be helpful, but I had my surgery done at Mayo a week ago. We actually live here so use Mayo as our primary care. It's a very long process through Mayo, I can tell you that. I don't know how they do it with out of town people but we have to go through a 12 week learn group before they start the pre surgery appointments and there are a few of those you have to complete. If you have any questions still you certainly can message me though, I will try to help if I can. -
Hi everyone. Dr Schuricht did my lap-band surgery 3/23/2009 at Pennsylvania Hospital. He is a very smart man and caring. Anyone else go to PA Hosp?

ARE THERE ANY PRE-SLEEVER'S FROM LOUISIANA PLANNING ON GOING TO MEXICO?
Buckwildest replied to BackToBeautiful's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Sorry, can't help you with the Mexico trip, I was wondering if you had ever heard of Dr. Thomas Borland in New Iberia, La. http://www.thomasborlandmd.com/ While it's not Mexico rates, All in price is under 10 grand, and you don't have the travel and language barrier to deal with.Sleeve is the only procedure that he will perform, and he's done thousands. I'm one week out of surgery, and have been more than satisfied with the level of care and service i have received. Give him a look and see if perhaps this might be an alternative to leaving the country for you. take care.
