Monyka!!! Lol - I would never eat at BK before and now all I want is a whopper!! Damn head hunger!! Have you tried anything like yogurt or sour cream? I've noticed that anything with milk goes down and sits really well for me. The Dannon Oikos Light n Fit is really good. I also always put FF sour cream in my chili (and I never ate chili before my surgery because I hated it) because it helps it sit better. I've heard people refer to these things as "slider foods." I have noticed that some things are more difficult to digest - the first time I did eggs was a little hard, I felt uneasy after but not nauseous. Now I have no problems. Same with tuna. Tried it first, took it slow felt "strange" but now I can eat that too. Here are some things I have tried: Turkey chili with reduced fat shredded cheese and fat free sour cream (prob 2 oz total) Tuna with light mayo and salt/pepper/garlic powder One egg omelet with 1oz shredded cheese and a couple "dots" of ketchup Egg salad with light mayo and garlic powder The one time I "ate out" was Taco Bell's Pintos and Cheese with a side of sour cream (I got 3 meals out of one cup!) Very moist meatloaf with lean ground beef and a couple "dots" of ketchup Cottage cheese Ricotta cheese with no sugar added sauce nuked for 1 minute in a dish Retried Beans with cheese and sour cream The usual: yogurt, cream of chicken Soup. I can barely tolerate Protein shakes so my nutritionist gives us the option of 3 glasses of fat free or 1% milk or a Protein shake. Helllllllo milk!! I hope this helps you out the next 6 days. I don't know about you but all I want is to chew real food!!!

Not bragging but.....

I'm envious you are allowed to have Protein shakes and yogurt. I've had nothing but Water - surgeon will only allow Clear liquids first week post op - and I can't hold more than 1/4 cup without feeling I'll burst. I'd love some yogurt or a shake. -

S - box of goobers at the movies! Calories - 1176 Protein - 64 So enjoyed going out with my hubby and enjoyed everything I ate.....even the goobers! And I only went 176 calories over my calorie count! WooHoo!! -
I'm not having trouble drinking at all. I do take small sips all day long, but haven't limited myself as to how much at one time. Since it's just liquid, I don't think it just sits in your little pouch. I'd think it would just go right through. I'm pretty much subsisting off of yogurt, protein drinks, crystal light and water. Congratulations on your 20 lbs! That's great! I've lost 10 since surgery. I had my check up today and the doctor thought that was pretty good.

*Susan* revision from band to sleeve
MacMadame replied to *susan*'s topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Full liquids includes things like yogurt and FAGE yogurt is high in protein. I had a lot of special "bariatric" foods for that time including protein soups. Or you can add protein to your soups. What's the name of the unflavored protein powder you are using? -

The only thing that bugged me, for sure, was milk. I ate cheese and yogurt like crazy. I could also have milk in things -- baked and cooked. I did suspect that some of the 100% whey shakes were not helping but I could get them down. I eventually switched to a shake that was a whey/soy mix and that never gives me a tummy ache. -

Wow I didn't know this. I thought after surgury you drink protein drinks which are dairy based? I guess yogurt will not be a soft food either. I need to find out what everyone is eating after surgury?? Any input for me? Susan - that is terrible for you. I hope it all works out very soon. -

Hello restriction! You are back my old friend! Since my re-fill on Friday I have played it pretty safe with yogurt, oatmeal, tomotoe bisque ....... I had a couple reduced fat wheat thins with cheese earlier today. Tonight I heated up some chili (my old stand-by protein food) and didn't even eat as much as I thought would be a serving. I got that full signal and took one more bite of maybe 2 beans. My nose started running and I had a sneeze attack. That is my you-took-one-bite-too-many signal. -
Congrats! You are doing really good. Cut the Cipro into tiny pieces and take it with yogurt or SF pudding. ;)

Day 2 of pre-op liquids. It's not going so bad, the shakes aren't that bad tasting. I have flavored stevia to add to them and my surgeons office provided a whole page of recipes for adding fruits, nuts, honey, oatmeal, yogurt, coffee and even diet root beer. My only issue right now is that I woke up yesterday with a head cold that's making my feel like poop. Pre-op testing is tomorrow morning so I'm fasting after 8:00 tonight which won't be a problem, I'll be in bed by then I think. Last appt with the surgeon Thursday next week with my surgery on the 18th. I'll be glad when I'm on the other side of this.

Scared of missing comfort foods!
lsereno replied to little_mrs's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm a sleever, but my comments are general and apply to all surgeries. Like others, my comfort foods have changed. And I've found ways to get the flavors and textures I like. Early out, the Protein shakes helped when I wanted something sweet ( vanilla was my fav) or salty (chicken protein powder). I use PB2 instead of Peanut Butter and enjoy it with apple slices. I make my own pumpkin spice latte using a sugar free syrup, Starbucks instant decaf, and soy milk (lactose intolerant after surgery). I also flavor up plain nonfat greek yogurt for the season. Right now, I'm mixing in pumpkin purée, pumpkin pie spice, vanilla, and splenda. Yum! Instead of chips, I eat pretzels. They are crunchy and salty and I don't like them well enough to overboard with them. For treats I like but can't limit on my own, such as Cheetos, chocolate candy and white cake, I only eat them when away from home so they are not in the house. It allows me to enjoy them occasionally. Each of us has to find their own way. Lynda -

Hello all, I was sleeved on 9/9/15 so far so good. I have lost about 43 lbs and feel great. The cons: I have been trouble getting my Water in, cannot take my Multivitamin (makes me so nauseous), also I have been eating (for the most part) the same food (I.e. chicken, eggs yogurt, nuts) The pros: I love nuts eat them everyday, I am able to get my Protein in but 2 oz at a time, and I can't believe that I lost weight this fast my mind is still trying to catch up Just wondering what everyone else is going though and if you have any advice. Thank you!

Calling all February 1st Sleevers!
prettyCali916 replied to arenea's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey Arenea! What syntrax are you taking? I have the plain and it is meh too but I think Adina might've had the chocolate truffle and she swears by it. Maybe try that?I have the Caribbean Cooler, it smells great as a powder, but when I mix it with water I can't stand it. It's just weird. So today I bought the Campbell's soup on the go chicken noodle flavor and that worked. I didn't eat the little noodles or carrots although they were very soft, but I did drink the broth. I saw they have chicken tortilla in the drinkable on the go soups too. I saw someone asking, but I'm sure it's not as good as homemade. That's so funny! I bought Campbell's chicken noodle and cooked a whole can, completely drained the broth and had that yesterday. My sweet 16 month old daughter ate most of the noodles, carrots and pieces of chicken. She loved it lol!!! That was the best broth/soup ever!!!! On another note - I am SO over these sickly sweet protein drinks! I am a sweet tooth usually but this is too much! I can't wait for Monday!! I have such great plans for next week involving eggs, Greek yogurt, thick blended soups with chicken! Omg! Grocery shopping on Sunday! -
Going from Liquid to soft food today, a bit nervous :)
Orchids&Dragons replied to Plucky's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Start with things that are quite smooth, Greek yogurt, unsweetened applesauce, peaches canned in their own juice, etc. Gradually build up on the texture scale. You'll do great! -
Any April Surgery Dates?
bsumner replied to rokse23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on full liquids. I am doing like 3 shakes a day, yogurt, pudding, jello (all sugar free). Of course adding in the water, gatorade zero, and crystal light. No caffeine either-that has added to my fatigue too. I did try some broth yesterday to try and get used to it for post op and its not my favorite by far. I keep hearing that the second week is better. Hoping this is true. Are you having the sleeve? -
I keep my pantry and fridge full of grab and go options! Any low sugar Greek yogurt (I like siggis, two good, oikos triple zero), two good smoothies, bel gioso individual cheeses, cottage cheese cups, individual nut packs, whisps, chomps, hilo chips, egg bites, protein one bars. I always keep a pack of protein shakes in my trunk for emergencies!

Glad you had some broth So sorry your day wasn't good. I hope tomorrow is better for you. You are healing, it takes work and time but it will pass. It's temporary so do the best you can to help your body heal. It gets better!!! Have you tried yogurt or applesauce?

Thank you all for your support and encouragement. Today has just been a really hard day for me and I can't shake this feeling right now. Since I have only been on soft and puree for the past 4 days I have eaten things like greek yogurt, babyfood meat, protein shakes and medifast oatmeal which has 11 grams of protein in it. So I don't think it is too much carbohydrates. I am not going to get on the scale until next Friday so I think that may help my overall mood. Any suggestions on how to get in more protein? I do a protein shot each day to supplement, but would like to do more. I don't know what I would do without this site to turn too. I just can't fail this time!

So I am still a bit worried because I can eat 5.4 oz pkg of Greek Yogurt and 1/4c cream of wheat Cereal which was my dinner tonight. Do you hit like a hard stop when you try to eat too much? I really am trying to be aware of one but not really getting that full feeling at all. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App

JDru - you aren't kidding about missing meat! I went to Albertsons yesterday for a couple of things and walked by the meat counter. I stood there staring at the steaks. I tried and tried to figure out a way of cooking one and making it a "mushy" without completely ruining the steak. Unfortunately (or is it fortunately?) I could come up with anything so I went on and got my yogurt. Overall I am doing well. The scale has been stuck for a week, and I am getting disappointed with that. I did so well the first two weeks, it upsets me that this week the scale didn't move at all. I even tried uping my exercise - instead of walking 1 mile, I've been going for 2. Hope you and Sandranoelle are doing well!

Usually a half of the small cup of yogurt with fruit before my workout. My favorite go to post workout breakfast is smoked salmon with scrambled eggs with cheese and some fruit.

when do you feel normal eating again (small portions still)?
JamieLogical replied to denisa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First of all, are you on a PPI? Some of what you are describing as "hunger" and stomach grumbling could just be excess stomach acid. If your surgeon didn't prescribe you a PPI post-op, you can buy them over the counter (Prilosec or Nexium) at just about any drug or grocery store. How are you eating chicken already at a week post-op? Are you at least pureeing it? There is NO WAY I could have handled food like that so early on. A week post-op, the most "solid" food I was allowed was drinkable yogurt and I think maybe cottage cheese? I was mostly on Protein shakes and strained Soups at that point. But as for your bigger question about whether you will ever feel normal again, I promise you will! That was my biggest question and concern in my early weeks post-op too. I must have asked that question a thousand times. I dreaded that I would always feel uncomfortable and irritable and tired! I was worried I would never be able to eat like a normal person again or go out with friends. But, I promise, you WILL get there. Just be patient and focus on the day-to-day for now. Get your protein and Water in. Walk as much as you can. And make sure you take all your meds and Vitamins. Day-by-day it will get a little easier and easier and one day you will wake up and you will feel like a human again. -

Susan66 replied to denisa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm only 4 days post op and am on clear liquids & protein drinks for one week. Next week I can add yogurt, protein pudding & small curd cottage cheese. The following 2weeks I can add chicken & fish but it must be puréed. If your stomach doesn't seem to be handling what your eating, try this plan that I was instructed to eat/drink.
