Morsaille & brittu --- did you get Kitty Carmichael to do your fills? How was she? How many fills has she done? Has she ever punctured a fill line? Thank You BillieBeth

You're not alone. I was banded on 10/11 and have enjoyed searching the site and seeing what others have to say. If you go to the monthly support group you'll find an October 07. These are people who were banded in the month of October. You'll see there's quite a few. Just keep exploring and you'll find lots of good information. Good luck.

Worried about the emotional stuff
Robin Bird replied to BarbBee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi BarbBee, I totally hear you! As I read your message, it was if I was writing it. In fact, I posted for the first time on Friday (10/26) and had the same fears. I am in the 4th day of my liquid pre-op diet. It's nasty and harder than I thought it would be. I don't know why I thought it would not be a huge deal, with the whole food addiction thing you talked about. I am being banded in 4 days (Nov. 2) and I also worry about failing, especially with the holiday season looming. But I am trying my best not to think of failure as an option. My best to you and know that many of us feel exactly the same way you do. Robin :boink: -
My OCD'ness I have been doing for years - since I was in high school so we are easily looking at around 10 years.. I always thought it was strange I would try to force myself to not do it but I couldn't help it and how bizaare it was. Until this past year when I actually started to do some research on the internet about it - and who would of thought its a full blown disorder.... May I introduce to you... Trichotillomania... aka " "trich" as it is commonly known, is an impulse control disorder characterized by the repeated urge to pull out scalp hair, eyelashes, facial hair, nose hair, pubic hair, eyebrows or other body hair, resulting in noticeable bald Patches." (thank you wikipedia for the brief summary). That's right folks I pull my eyelashes and my eyebrows out. Not to the extent where I am bald of lashes and brows but I definitely get bare spots in both sometimes and it's TERRIBLE. And the worse part is - I CANT STOP. It's so subconscious that I don't even realize I am doing it until it is too late. It makes me ugly and I can't stop. I've not told my doctor yet as I'm sure I'll end up getting referred to a psychiatrist or something of the sort - so far they aren't sure why people do this, and it can't be cured but it can be medicated with OCD medications but do I really want to be medicated? If anyone is curious about what this is - this is an interesting article which is very similar to my "story". Psychology Today: Hair Pulling: A Baffling Disorder

Australians - Which State or Territory are you in?
Pearldrop replied to Hop_Scotch's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hello I’m in Canberra. I was the skinny one in the family til about 10 years ago when the weight increase started. I’m scheduled for the 4/6 and have started the pro-op diet today to reduce my liver size Do you have your procedure dates? -
Yesterday I realized that it would be my last Thursday and today my last Friday and then my last weekend being ruled by obesity as next Wednesday I enter a "whole new world...a dazzling place I never knew...." I wanted to be open and share with you that it is truly hard to think about anything else...I have purchased what I believe is the WLS pantry, I've got the Isopure on board, the C, the Multi, etc. I went to Walmart(since I figured I will not stay in that size forever) and bought really cozy PJs that were originally $16 for the top and pant set and I paid $10 now I have something comfortable to recover in, I was not told to do any pre-op diet...how are you December, January, February sleevers dealing with the upcoming dates? I posted the song from Aladdin below, I think it goes perfectly with how I feel about this new chance at life, I dedicate it to all my sleeve sisters! I can show you the world Shining, shimmering, splendid Tell me princess, now when did You last let your heart decide? I can open your eyes Take you wonder by wonder Over, sideways and under On a magic carpet ride A whole new world A new fantastic point of view No one to tell us no Or where to go Or say we're only dreaming A whole new world A dazzling place I never knew But, now, from way up here It's crystal clear That now I'm in a whole new world with you Unbelievable sights Indescribable feeling Soaring, tumbling, freewheeling Through an endless diamond sky A whole new world (Don't you dare close your eyes) A hundred thousand things to see (Hold your breath it gets better) I'm like a shooting star I've come so far I can't go back to where I used to be A whole new world With new horizons to pursue I'll chase them anywhere There's time to spare Let me share this whole new world with you A whole new world (Every turn a surprise) With new horizons to pursue (Every moment red-letter) I'll chase them anywhere There's time to spare Anywhere, there's time to spare Let me share this whole new world with you A whole new world That's where we'll be A thrilling chase A wondrous place For you and me

First workout of the Year

My first out of the year. 10-Month Post Op still going strong, -
Drink lots of water. Like way too much. Keep your stomach full. Sleep if you can to pass time. I "cheated" on my 10 day pre-op with a can of green beans just so I could have a "chewing" sensation by day 8... My doctor didn't worry too much about it. The end goal will justify it all. Before you know it the 10 days will be done.

I was banded on 01-07 and I guess I have been lucky so far.. No gas pains or hardly any pain at all. I have been a little hungry today but it did pass after a popsicle. I dont like the protien shakes at all so I make them into a smoothie. Protien, ice, fruit and water or milk. So much better than powder and protien. Good luck to you, hope all goes well!

meats are hard to digest after surgery but they are also very important for integrating Protein into meals. I am 19 months post op on RNY and I currently get about 60 grams of protein a day from my meals and that is because I use meats. I found that meats go down easy in chili and Soups. So I home make soups that have about twice the content of meats than normal store bought soups. chicken and turkey are difficult. They must be cooked for a long time in Water to soften them to the point that they readily break apart using a fork. Generally I place them in a pot of water and add a bouillon cube and boil for an hour.

I caved and now I'm worried
Icantbelieveit replied to Charlie Brown's Momma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have about 200lbs to lose and lost 10lbs in 10 days post op. He was happy, I was happy. If he poo pooed that, I would have been crushed and felt like a complete failure. But I did everything asked of me. Everyone loses at their own pace. Don’t let the pace take you down. That loss is still a loss. A loss is a win. If you carry around a gallon of milk for a week and put it down and walk away, you will finally feel the weight off of you. But if you take 2 cups a day out of it, it doesn't feel that dramatic. Confused about the pains!
RNMomof4 replied to Siyaa Ela's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was lucky...only took pain meds once in the hospital and that was for a headache. The incisional pain was never more than a 2 out of 10 Sent from my iPhone -
Thanks for all the kind words everyone! The pain in my chest is a bit better today. Before bed last night I experienced very sharp pain in my right shoulder.. it lasted about an hour. It was so bad that it brought me to tears.... thankfully it didn't last all that long. I've been prescribed liquid codine for the pain and haven't had to take any since 10:30 last night... it's around 5:00 am now (I'm still jet lagged) and I'm getting ready to have my first taste of clear Soup broth. Hoping that my recovery will continue to go smoothly. I'm flying back home tomorrow (about a 3 hour flight) so I'm hoping that I'll be feeling comfortable and don't have any pain sitting on the plane for that long. To anyone who's considering having this done... the first day kind of sucks. But if the way I'm feeling now is any indication of how my recovery will continually progress, I should be back to normal in no time.

Is it possible to lose TOO much weight?
TSB replied to smaller_Alex's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone. I'm Tonya today makes day 11 post op for me. It has been extremely hard. The day I started my pre op diet (12/10)I was 213. Yesterday I was 191 Im struggling with keeping down water . so I had my daughter go buy the Gatorade G2. I also drunk soy milk which is helping. Now my urine is starting to lighten up. I have energy just kind of bored.i have never been do ready to return to work. -
Guys I had a huge NSV this weekend. My DD's 6th birthday was this past weekend. We rented one of those "jumping houses/space walks". My 10 month old nephew hadn't had a turn and I looked at that little door and thought there is no way my big rump will fit through there. It did! With Ease! After letting him crawl around and play some - I waited for all of the kids to go inside and crawled back in. I jumped and jumped and jumped. I would have NEVER been able to do that two months ago! It was so much fun. Nothing hurt afterward either. I was barely winded. I need a trampoline!!!

Well,,, all I can say is it's S L O W!!! On one hand, I'm sad that it's not going faster, but on the other hand, I'm eating ice cream and chocolate way too much sometimes. It's hard to break 19 years of bad eating habits and the band doesn't curb those cravings. If I had given MORE thought to getting a more detail surgery, I might have considered the sleeve. But it is what it is and at least I'm going in the right direction,,, be it slow or quick,,, I'll get there,,, by October of this year, if I want to be at my goal, I need to buckle down and try to get 13 pounds per month off. I can do it IF I work out! Wish me luck!!!!

3 months post opp - now galbladder
Bambi replied to hypn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my gallbladder removed when I was 19 back in 1983. It was done open because they didn't have laproscopic at the time. I have never missed it since it has been removed, and I don't miss the pain it was giving me prior to surgery. My only thought is see if he can do it laproscopically. The open procedure for me was extremely painful, carried a six week recovery time and the scar tissue that was created from it was so unbelievable that 2 years ago when I went to have the band put in they couldn't see through all the scar tissue...Get it removed, because it will get worse just make sure you are very well informed by your doc. Good Luck! -
Dealing with family issues and haven't had much food since last Friday.. ive dropped nearly 10 pounds due to this stress everyone might think that's awesome but this isnt the way i want to be losing weight..sweet thought my way would be welcomed with open arms.

I'm down 10 pounds in just 4 weeks. My doc said he wants to keep that pace so he only gave me .2

I think it's because the last 10-20lbs is always the most difficult to lose. I also think that it was my first set point from high school and my body thought it needed to settle there and defend that new position. I also know that it happened in the sophomore phase and this is the phase where we notoriously start living life again. So some of it could be that I slacked off in my choices with a greater frequency of "treat" meals when going out? And before, I cooked almost everything at home. So I think it's probably a combination of metabolic stuff + behavior. Also, that chart doesn't look like it, but the line is actually down at the 130-135 level. It looks more like it's 140ish. Here's a close up of it for the last 90 days.
