I have been using the body bugg for 1 month. I love the information that it gives me but here is the problem. My average calorie deficit a day is 800-1100 calories and I have not lost any weight. I take in about 1100-1300 calories a day. I usually burn about 2100 callories per day without exercise. 2400 with exercise. I heard that if you are closer to your goal you can have a large calorie deficit. Is that true. I weigh 168 and my goal is 145. please help.

What exactly is your stomach healing from?
wishinghoping posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've gone to a couple of different seminars and they have each emphasized that the lap band system is much less intrusive on your body than gastric by-pass. As I've read here I've been very surprised at all the pre-op and immediate post-op restrictions. The latest surgeon indicated there were basically no pre-op for banding. He was also very clear that it might be months before the band was fully functional and giving the restriction you want. Until they reach that "sweet spot" (his term), he said he's had quite a few patients gain weight after having the band installed. So that leads to my question. If the stomach is not being cut and you do not feel much restriction until after you are filled, what exactly is your stomach "healing" from? I've read through the frequently asked questions and it emphasis not eating any food until the doctor allows while you "heal". I'm not challenging the rules. If I'm told not to eat solid food for 3 weeks, I won't. But it does confuse me as to what exactly the stomach is healing from if it isn't being cut. Thanks for any help in understanding. -
Can you tell me what size you wear??
Mom-2-one replied to topazz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5'4" wt 240. I wear 18/20 pants and xl-1x tops. Most of my weight is in the middle (tummy, fanny) so you might realize you can fit into smaller sizes than you think! Good Luck! I am looking forward to hitting the 200 mark. -
Start weight 265 on August 31st, Friday. I wasn't going to weigh in til next weekend, but they threw me on the scale today at my follow up appointment. Drumroll please.... 252! Really, 252?! Now I understand this is mostly Water weight, but 13 pounds in 4 days is simply exciting any way you look at it! Yay!

What's Going 2 Keep You on Track?
Band_Groupie replied to JayTee562's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Good question! My plan (subject to change LOL) is to never be on a 'diet' again...ever. I've been on them all and they don't work (well, I've lost a ton, but gained it back). I do plan to spend a lot of time upfront learning; how to eat healthier, exercise, counting calories, liquids etc., and yeah, I'll be stocking the cupboard with lots of low cal (shhh- yes, diet) foods. I'm going to TRY not to worry too much about what I'm losing or not during Bandster Hell (easier said then done...patience will be tested), and I've been saying since last year that I'm not expecting real restriction until the holdays this year (if it comes sooner then great!). I do plan to follow the Bandster rules, which means not drinking your calories ever (so no Protein shakes EVER once I'm past this pre-op time unless I'm running low on getting protein in for some reason. I don't get the banders who are drinking 2 meals a day years out from banding...why get a band?). I'm hopeful that eventually (maybe a year or less out) I'll be able to eat the same healthy foods my family is eating (leave out the less healthy ones, but nothing will be totally off limits- I'll just have to figure small splurges into the day) but just a lot less without having to count calories etc. (hoping I'll know enough that it's all habit by then). If I'm not losing I'll go back to counting calories for awhile just to figure out what I'm doing wrong. So in other words I plan to follow the Banding guidlines and make this a lifestyle change. I know I can live with a new lifestyle, but I can't live forever on a diet. Sound like magic to me...we'll see how it goes. I do think a plan like Weight Watchers is the kind of plan that people can incorporate into the bandster rules (you can do both together without breaking the rules) if they need the added structure to help them along the way and I know that's there if I need it. -
Fell off the wagon with questions...
Catherine55 replied to micnat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm glad to hear you say that you are getting back on the wagon right away! Your post made me afraid for you! Still on liquids and eating candy bars and milk shakes? Leaving aside the risk of causing your band to slip, you don't want to be putting on weight during this early phase! Anyway, I'm not going to flame you. But, you should give a lot of thought to what made you want to sabotage yourself like that and what you can do to stop from doing it again next time. I wish you all the best in your lap band journey and look forward to seeing you do very well after this little blip! Catherine -
Exercise Programs After Surgery... What are you doing?
MrsShannonDennis replied to mears06's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good Luck! I work out 5-6 days a week. 2 days a week I do an intense boot camp thats a mix of cardio, weights, yoga, pilates, you name it! 2 day a week I do a Zumba class with is Latin/salsa aerobics dance class at my gym. The other days I work out with my friend doing just cardio. My trainer gave us tips on different cardio ciruits. We use 4 cardio machines (elliptical, treadmill, spin bike, and stairs). We rotate and do 5 minutes on each 2 times through the circuit. The most important thing I have learned frommy trainer is to ALWAYS switch it up! Your body will get used to the same old thing over and over and you wont see results. Dont just do cardio. You need to be toning also as you go. Good luck and hang in there. Working out is the toughest part but the MOST rewarding! It will become 2nd nature to you in no time! -
In my mind, based on my research, I am thinking it will take at least 8 weeks post surgery to get the bal rolling with the band. I watched a few YouTube videos of peope whio post every week and they all seem to have gone the 'Bandster Hell" period for an extended period of time. The all reached that frustration stage too where they doubt the band process. In the end they all lost lots of weight-lots! I am not sure how many fills you have had so far. But another Bandster posted that her doc. said it's like blowing up a balloon-once it has air in it -it only take a small amount (fill) to have a greater impact. .5 cc can be just enough-some people had that much taken out because of problems and it made a huge difference. If it was your first fill I woud say it's not enough...but if it's your 3rd or 4th fill that sounds right. Hang in there-your ride is just beginning and this time next year you'll be skinny!!

I was banded on April Fools Day this year. It took me about 4 fills (had one last week) to get to where there was any restriction felt. I have a large band that holds 14 cc's and I now have 7 cc's. I started with 2cc's and got fills in 1cc increments. I have not been dropping weight very fast, but I think this last fill is enough to do it. Just be honest with your doc and they will increase your fill as needed. It's a process. You have to be patient

Sleeved in October 2013...down 52 lbs. exercise regimen is a must.
joatsaint replied to Scarpediem's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Way to go! I believe exercise is a key component in successful weight loss. Not just because it burns calories, but it also helps prevent muscle loss as your body loses weight. I know that my weight loss wouldn't have been as good if I hadn't been exercising on a regular basis. I had to find ways to continue burning calories at the same rate as I was right after surgery. Since I wasn't carrying around the extra weight, my body didn't have to work as hard to get around. I've only done walking as my primary exercise, but I do vary it up by going to walking tracks and park trails. I like a variety of hills and obsticals to keep things from getting boring. Back in October, I started wearing a backpack with a few books in it for added weight then got a weighted vest in November. The vest had the added benefit of working my core and leg muscles in a new way. It's hard to make a sharp turn with a 20 lb vest. :-P -
Today I am at 264 I had a fill last week on Dec. 14th and have a little restriction I have not lost any weight and I went to the gym 4 times last week. My man thing is just that I want to be successful in my whole journey in a year from now I want to see a dramitic difference. I know I need to drink more water and stop eating things I am not suspose to eat I need to figure out a eating plan that works for me. I know I can do this and I am. TO GOD BE THE GLORY.

In one hour my husband's alarm will go off and I'll take a quick shower while he and our roomie enjoy their coffee. I don't begrudge them the java, but I do wish I could have some. Then we'll all three drive across town to the hospital. Thanks to the call from my surgeon, I know I'll report to have a PIC line (sp) installed. Maybe they'll put the Heparin in through that, maybe I'll have to endure another shot in my belly. I keep chanting to myself, "You can do this. You've been through so much to get this far. One more day. You can do this..." I'm exercising every bit of self-control I've ever had to proverbially put one foot in front of the other and smile like nothing's bothering me despite the hunger of two days without solid food and a raging thirst. Amazing how pre-surgery nerves can turn even a strong-minded person like me into a internally gibbering wreck. I'm keeping my eye on the prize-- the picture of me I'm using here. I weighed about 175 when that was taken. I want to look like that again. I will lose the weight that has dragged me down for fifteen years and destroyed my health. I'm even better now than I was then. I've quit smoking, achieved my dream of being published, and I have a lovely home in Florida. The only thing holding me back has been my weight and the health issues it brought with it. Will things be champagne and caviar after surgery? I hope not. Can't stand the stuff for one thing. (grin) No, but I won't have the anchor of ill health holding me down. I'll still be here in my little home office, typing out stories to entertain and amuse for as long as my muse stays. But, maybe once in awhile I'll go scuba diving again and not be afraid to be seen in a bathing suit. That would be nice. Lena

Hello all, I am from Springfield MO, 32 yrs old, 300+ pounds. I can lose weight but have never been able to keep it off. I like to eat. I am lucky to feel full after any meal maybe once every two weeks. That is reguardless of what I eat. I can go to pizza buffett and eat 20 slices and feel pretty much the same as when i entered. If any of you were similar to this before the surgery can you tell me if the band has worked for you. I am also looking into the mini gastric bypass surgery just for this reason. I know a person who had it done, and he is down over 100 pounds and still losing, but is able to sit down to a dinner and eat a 8-10 oz steak and baked potato and salad. Any input is greatly appreciated.

10 months and FINALLY restriction at 6cc!
Queen Fig posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Went to the doctor Friday and they thought I had been at 7 cc for the past 3 months but couldn't figure out why I was still hungry. They pulled all the fill out and measured and I have actually been at only 5!!!! They looked back in my records and realized that they did their math wrong. This has been a frustrating journey as I had just about given up hope on the band as I could eat WAY more than 1/2 cup of food before feeling satisfied. For those of you like me who have been slow losers, be patient. Now that I am up to REALLY 6cc, I finally have some restriction and feel so much more in control of my eating. As an emotional eater, I have had trouble eating healthy too which has been part of my problem. I read a great book called "Why Can't I Stop Eating?" which was very helpful too. I guess I thought I would have the surgery, lose weight and that would be the end of the story of my fat self. It has been more work and time than I ever thought as I was banded in November of '09. I have lost 30 lbs but wish it was more. I am happy with my loss--but had unrealistic expectations of where I would be by now. Anyway, I am excited about the days ahead as a RESTRICTED bandster. I know this thread is all over the place, but I guess I just needed to get some stuff off my chest and make room for a fresh start! Have a great day!!!!!:rolleyes2: -
Keep up with your weight loss and try to follow your surgeon's eating plan. When I eat sugar, I start wanting more and more of it. Just a bite is a trigger for me. Stay on track and you will have an even better smile at the end.

How many calories at each month post op
James Marusek replied to heather5565's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The approach after RNY gastric bypass surgery is to control the volume of food per meal and is not focused on calories. As your food volume goes up, your calories will likewise go up. As you near the end of the "Weight Loss" phase and begin to transition into the "Maintenance" phase your body will automatically transition between these phases and the rate of weight loss will dramatically slow down. One option that you have is controlling content of the food that you eat. Your daily Protein requirement is a combination of the protein that you obtain from supplements (Protein shakes, protein bars) combined with the amount of protein from your meals. If you concentrate on consuming high protein meals (and you track and monitor your protein intake) then you can reduce your reliance on protein supplements and the calories contained in those supplements. This will allow you to optimize your weight loss. Over time I went from 3 protein shakes a day, down to 2, down to 1 and then finally down to 0 (when my meal volume increased to 1 cup per meal). -

How long have you had yours...
NaNa replied to Twinsmommy0513's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
No one knows how long the band will last, it's a foreign object, there could be many reasons why someone may have to get their band replaced or removed. Some have medical reasons, sometimes there are malfunctions with parts like leaks, some have very poor aftercare. The best thing you can do is arm yourself with knowledge of how the band works: Here are some things you may need to ask your surgeon: 1. How many lap bands has he/she has performed? greater than 500 is best 2. What is his/her complication rate? Do they convert many band patients to Bypass or Sleeve, if so, BEWARE. 3. Research the new eating habits of how to chew your food with the band to prevent frequent vomiting (frequent vomiting can cause lap band complications long term, like horrible reflux, bad enough to get the band removed). I will be 8 years post op this month, however I had my older band replaced 4cc band, that is no longer used in the US due to higher complication rate from Pouch and esophageal dilation. However these same complications can occur with the newer bands, but they occur less often, as long as the patient don't keep it dangerously too tight. The reason I got the band was because I can get it removed if something happens and I can always get it adjusted to help with weight loss. I would do the band over again in a heartbeat. Good luck. -
Ugh having a hard time finding comfort

This is a new depressed feeling. I really thought I had depressed on lock down. I suppose you could be right. But the feeling is more frustrate and lost. Misunderstood. Once I'm cleared to start running again next week. I look forward to it. Perhaps that will help. I feel like I have lost friends as thy have been jealous of my weight loss. But it comes with a price a huge price and I need to find my new way. -

I think what's different about me and most people here is I love myself, maybe a lil' too much. I don't aspire to be thin, I don't want to be skinny. I love my curves, my shape, me. I'm an hourglass, maybe the big ben of hourglasses but an hourglass nonetheless. Part genes part hard work, regardless of how much I weigh I still have a "shape" and it's not just round. When I lost weight before I kept the same shape, just a smaller version of it. I'm in faith that the same thing will happen now. I like me, I like my big butt, musclar and powerful legs, I like my arms, my face (minus the double chin lol) and my breasts. YES there's room for improvement, that's why I'm doing this. But I just don't look in the mirror and think "ugh" like some of the people I've talked to on here do. We're all beautiful in our own way and pardon the pun but weigh, as well. 300, 200 or 150 I'm still fly. I'm still beautiful, I'm still me. And because of that I think this journey will be easy for me. Self love is what it takes. Yes I could sit and point out my double chin, my backfat, how the tops of my thighs aren't so solid any more, but hey I can still wear a skirt or bathing suit an nobody really notices.. I could point out how I have a stomach, that thankfully is soft so people don't mistake me for being pregnant I could point out how my upper arm is a lil' loose as I age, I like to think its from all of the beauty waving I did lol...j/k But point all of that out wouldn't do me any good, besides it doesn't define me. I have always been and will probably always be a plus sized woman. Yes yes, I know we all want to be skinny, yeah not me. I'm just not part of that crowd. People keep making comments to me about "You're so pretty, imagine what you'll look like after" - Fa' real? I mean really?? was that supposed to be a compliment? I look pretty freakin' good now, and I'm not sure the world is ready for a skinny Yvette LMAO.. Ok maybe that's just funny between me and my BFF.. lmao.. but I digress.. I'm just saying.. if we love ourselves it makes the journey easier.. If you're not constantly jumping on the scale, getting caught up with who from your surgery month is losing more than you or whatever the situation is, you're bound to succeed and do it with ease. Excuse the outfit, this was takin' before a "trailer park party" but as I was going through old pics I figured I'd stop and show the world what 5'5 315lbs looks like on me...

I think I love you from head to toe..
LoseIt! commented on Yvette1026's blog entry in How I lost 100lbs
I think you are rockin! I have a shape when I'm thinner (I'm talking 200 lbs, because I've never been thin), but as I gained weight, I have lost my shape. I'm looking forward to seeing more definition in places, but like you I like curves!
