What area are you in? There are lots of custom faja shops in the Miami area. Your best bet might be having one made for your specifications. Google custom fajas, lots of options out there.

Congratulations @STLoser. This is an amazing achievement. As @Starwarsandcupcakes said maintenance can be a lot of trial & error. It took me a while (another 11months) to finally stop losing & for my weight to stabilise. I wasn’t eating a lot when I reached my goal (about 900+/- calories) & it took time for my portion sizes to get closer to a recommended serving size. (I also still wasn’t hungry.) I added snacks - like eventually 5 a day. It seemed crazy & I felt like I was eating all day but it was the only way I could get in those extra calories I needed to slow then stop the loss. (I did this with my dietician.) I don’t eat as many snacks now - usually 3 - because I can eat more at a meal. I stabilised at 1300 calories for a year. I eat more like 1400 now because I had to up my protein to 70g (protein absorption issue). Thanks to also needing a higher dose HRT at the same time I put on 2kgs very quickly but have been steady again for 6 months. Fingers crossed. Just take it slowly as you work out what else you can add to your diet. You may have to keep adjusting until you discover what works for you. So expect some ups & downs. Initially I slowly added extra serves of whole/multi grains (went from 1 to 3 but only about 2 now), a second serve of fruit (1 again now), some extra fat (also reduced some), a few extra vegetables, etc. Kept to my very little sugar/sweet foods & no breads, pasta or rice I established while losing. All the best.

    August surgery buddies!

Howdy! My prop goal weight was 230 and that was set by me. I wanted to maximize the weight loss of the surgery as much as possible since I wanted to lose over 100 lbs. My doctor only requires 2 weeks liquid diet prior to my surgery date on Aug 18 the. I wanted to get a headstart, play with recipes, and establish new habits so there wouldn't be a ton of changes at once. This way I can monitor how we'll the fiber is working too. I suffer from constipation and I want to ensure I can do everything to avoid any complications. The Organic Plum Stage 1 baby food is a total WIN because they have yummy prunes plus protein and fiber!!

You bet! The only thing I am doing for the Jello is adding the Liquid Protein to it after I combined the cold water into the hot melted gelation. Hope that helps 😊

    August surgery buddies!

Hey August Buddies! I wanted to share my results so far in starting my mock trial liquid diet to see how well it goes for me. Basically, to test to make sure I can hit all my macros and protein, I don't put it in my mouth if it does not have some version of protein in it. So far I have felt very satisfied and not felt too hungry. If I do get hungry, then I drink more water with the Liquid Protein and it satisfies me. What my days are consisting of: Breakfast 1 cup of coffee with 1 Tbsp of cream and 1 teaspoon of Skinny mix and 1 scoop of college protein Take all my supplements and vitamins Water with Electrolytes Oikos triple zero yogurt watered down Organic Plum Stage 1 Babyfood (OMG - soooo good!) Lunch 2-ounce puck of strained Bear Creek Cheddar Broccoli soup with 2 TBSP of grass-fed Whey protein ( I also made chicken noodle soup and potato soup pucks so I have a variety) 1 Keto Chow protein shake with 1 cup Almond Milk Water with Liquid Protein and Electrolytes Snack 1 Premiere Protein Chocolate Peanut Butter Shake Water with Liquid Protein and Electrolytes Dinner 1 complete SF Jello box with Liquid Protein Water with Liquid Protein and Electrolytes My program may be completely different from yours, but I wanted to share what is so far working for me. I'm down 4 pounds since Sunday and have not been hungry and very satisfied. Average daily calories 850, Avg protein 120 grams, average net carbs 58 (primarily from yogurt and fiber carbs) I feel really good that my protein levels increased to over 50% when I implemented the liquid protein. So easy to consume with your water! Lots of Love to My August Buddies!! ❤️
  6. On 2/15/22 I underwent revision from VSG to RNY due to hiatal hernia and reflux issues. My surgery weight was around 230 lbs, actually a few less due to three days of liquid diet. In the 5 months since revision surgery I've lost about 40 lbs, but have been at a steady weight for over five weeks. I'm currently around 15 to 20 lbs away from my final goal. I had a post surgery follow up with the surgeons office and they just suggested I try to stay closer to the dietary guidelines. I probably was a little short on protein but in the couple weeks since have worked diligently to increase protein and reduce carbs. Yet the scale hasn't moved. Looking for experiences from others who had revision without a large amount of weight to lose. How did it go for you? Is this just a stall or my new normal? Should I expect to continue to lose, or am I pretty much at my new set point after five months?

    Full Nutritional Chart Info

Talk to your surgeon/dietician. If you have high blood pressure, they may recommend you reduce sodium below the generally recommended 2000mg a day, but it's not strictly a concern for people who are not sensitive to salt. None of the dieticians I've talked to about bariatric surgery has recommended any draconian limitations on salt. They haven't even mentioned sodium - just macros. I don't worry about sodium OR fat, just sugar, simple carbs, and protein. For constipation, it's unlikely you will be able to eat enough fiber to solve the problem with food. I was told that drinking enough fluid, exercising enough, and taking something like Miralax was what I should do. I have found that I only need Miralax occasionally as long as I drink coffee.

    Just starting my journey

Yes, for me it felt like it was happening fast, but then it felt like I had to wait forever! It took me 7.5 months to have surgery - I had to jump through all the insurance hoops and then my surgery center was backed up from surgeries they had to cancel due to COVID. What I did was work to practice eating like after surgery - counting calories, higher protein, lower carbs, etc. I lost 50 lbs before surgery, which is weight I didn't have to lose after surgery.

I'm particularly impressed by your weight loss during your second year! I'm not familiar with the Loop DS procedure, but in my case (gastric bypass), it became very difficult to lose weight after the first year and I had to start watching my food intake pretty carefully--so you are clearly doing something right. I had a 20-pound regain fairly quickly in maintenance (the beginning of the second year). However, I actually lost too much during the first year and needed to gain about 15 pounds so I didn't look so skeletal. (Sorry.) I have found maintenance pretty easy by sticking basically to a high-protein, low-carb, low-fat diet. If you are getting 100 grams of protein a day, that's great! You can definitely eat more that 1300 calories without gaining weight. However, it really can be terrifying after eating so little for so long. As someone mentioned, it really is trial and error. I'm able to eat some sugar, have an occasional glass of wine and high-carb treat without too much trouble. You are clearly very disciplined, and you know your own body better than anyone. You'll figure it out. Good luck!

    Dread Eating

Try eating smaller portions throughout the day. That’s what worked for me. Big meals make me feel sluggish and tired. Also, protein heavy meals make me feel exhausted after. Maybe see about getting some labs drawn to see if there’s an issue there. I know if I skip my thyroid medicine even once then I’m exhausted for days afterwards.

    Losing mind battle

I would highly recommend counseling for sure. Getting professional help in managing those feelings, learning new coping skills, and addressing the underlying stuff that is driving those feelings and behaviors is life change, hard, necessary work. The surgery can only get you so far, it is just a tool. The more tools you have, the better. I would also suggest a support program, something with REAL people that you can interact with (this is just a message board, its pretty one-sided). Personally, I am a member of BariNation and LOVE it. It has been a game changer for me. But there are tons of other options out there. Your surgery center might even have support groups. Regardless of what/where, it can be incredibly beneficial to have support in a group setting with real people.

    Covid and my sleeve

Try bone broth if you can. The warm liquids should help with your sore throat and it’ll provide much needed protein. I don’t really remember having a problem eating so much as everything smelled so strong which was odd because so may lose their taste and smell. But just give it some time and you will be feeling better.

    Covid and my sleeve

My husband just went through COVID recently and it kicked his butt. He was only actively feeling sick for about four days but he said he felt off for quite some time after. Its a weird little virus in how it hits everyone so different but just give it time. All you really can do. He didn’t really want to eat for a while either. Just said nothing sounded good. He made sure to at least force down a protein shake or two. Maybe warm up a chocolate one and drink it like hot cocoa. I haven’t ever tried that but it doesn’t sound too bad for cold weather. Feel better soon.

    July 2022 peeps!

5 days since my surgery and I am slowly healing. Drinking my 64oz of water daily and 2 protein shakes per day. My Stitches are inching super bad and my smell has gotten very strong. I am mentally ready for soft foods but my tummy is still healing. Protein shakes are not filling me up.
  15. So I saw my surgeon today for my six month appointment.. I can't BELIEVE it's been 2 years since my surgery. My life has changed so much for the better in so many wonderful ways. Anyway, I'm about to start maintenance. I figured I was close to finished with weight loss because it's been pretty slow for a while, and I feel good and happy with the 205 I have lost. Most of my weight was lost the first year. I have lost 42 since this time last summer, and most of that l lost in those first 6 months. The dietitian recommended I start adding 50 to 100 calories a week of carbs or fat. I currently eat 1300 calories a day. I usually get about 100 of protein (I had the Loop DS). So I'm supposed to start adding gradually to get my calories as high as I can without gaining. I'm excited but SO nervous. I know people have a 10 to 20 lb. rebound gain quite often and I really want to stay as close to my weight now as possible. I weigh 187. I'm 5'3" so that's still pretty much for height but considering I started at 393 I'm pretty happy. I wear a size medium or large which I'm thrilled with. I never cared about being skinny. I have always been a curvy person. I just wanted my health and life back, which I have! But I would like to stay under 200 pounds, so I don't have a lot of room for gaining any back. I know I'm rambling here but I just need some encouragement from those of you who are farther along than I am. How was maintenance for you? Sent from my Pixel 5a using BariatricPal mobile app

    July 2022 peeps!

I am day 5 of my Pre-Op diet (surgery is scheduled for 7/22). I can only have 6 protein shakes per day or have 5 shakes plus either 1 cup of broth or a protein bar. I am doing the 5 shakes and protein bar since I won't be able to chew anything for weeks. Hope everyone is doing well!
  17. This! I have so many extra protein powders and bariatric soups... Etc. for the soft food stage just sitting there. Ugh. What else did I wish I knew before my first surgery? I wish I did the bypass first. Sent from my SM-S908U using BariatricPal mobile app

    July 2022 peeps!

Had my surgery on July 7th. I am five days out and the pain slowly goes away. I still cannot sleep good as I normally sleep on my tummy, so side sleeping is stopping me from a good night's rest. I never thought I would hate water as I do now. I tried the broth and it is gross. I don't drink coffee or tea, hate jello and Popsicles are just to cold to eat still. I am super hungry and my protein drink is not helping. On the upside I have already lost 17lbs, so that keeps me going. I did keto for 3 years and only lost 15lbs. Oh and my Stitches are clearly healing because they inch so bad.

    August surgery buddies!

My husband recently had a partial foot amputation due to diabetes so we are both following a diabetic plan that reduces carbs and increases protein. Just being very mindful of what we are eating and how it affects his blood sugar. I figured it would be good to get into the habit of eating in a more healthy way now, rather than after the surgery. I'm not exercising right now. I'd love to, but hubby is still non-weight bearing and on a pic line so most of my time when I'm not at work is taken up with taking care of him. Hoping to get the go-ahead for weight-bearing tomorrow as well as ending his IV antibiotics, so I'm hoping to start getting some walking in.

    July 2022 peeps!

Today, I start my pre-op diet. It’s going to be a little more difficult that I anticipated, but I’m sure after a day or two, it’ll be alright. Breakfast and Lunch are going to be the most difficult, basically a protein shake for those two meals.

    Worried about getting surgery

Thank you everyone. I do tend to overthink things. It just scares me because it's irreversible, but I also don't want to continue the life of yo-yo dieting. I see my surgeon on Thursday next week so I will definitely voice my concerns with him and go over my options.

    2 Weeks Post op

My plan actually says any full liquids do not count toward my 64 ounce goal. I wonder if that’s just to get us used to getting that in outside of protein shakes

    2 Weeks Post op

I honestly can say… I have got surgery on 5 and went home the next day… now the only problem I have is it very hard for me too get fluid down… I was told I needed too get about 64oz but this is the catch… I get pain when I drink water even wit the protein… the only thing that goes down is Crystal lite, G zero… I’m getting so frustrated because today was my first appointment wit my Doctor and I most say he said he will send me back too the hospital for fluid I don’t wanna go back there… as anyone experience This? I’m trying my best too get as much fluid but it really hard… it’s been just 6 Days… and I’m frustrated … what can I do???
  24. Hi all, I am working my way through my appointments to get my surgery. I am planning on the gastric sleeve as the bypass concerns me about internal hernia and malabsorption issues. I think the sleeve is the best choice for me, but I am concerned about chances that GERD will happen and I will be forced to get a revision to a bypass anyways. Have a lot of people had this issue? I am also worried about some horror stories I have read where people can't eat or keep food down or even eat. Are there a lot of situations like this? I'm probably overthinking a bit, but I know this is not reversible and I want to make sure I weigh all my options. Thanks for any help.

    Stall out and depressed

Plateaus are a normal part of this journey. Protein is definitely your number one priority and should be the bulk of what you are eating, especially 4 months post op. You did not specify the diet stage you are on at 4 months out or how much you are eating. Don't be too hard on yourself. Slow down and take a breath and start keeping a food diary of all you eat, and I bet you figure it out. It's a process and it definitely does not happy overnight.
