    8 oz in 30 min

I'm almost one month out...I don't feel any restriction from liquids. I also don't feel restriction from yogurt. But, I definitely feel restriction when I eat my soft foods. I can only eat about 2-3 oz at a time.

I get sleeved in a week

I am going to go to the store tomorrow and get appropriate foods for weeks 1-4. I am going to try and make the best of it. I love jello, milk and yogurt so it shouldnt be that bad. I found Premier protein shakes on Amazon. Anyone have any thoughts on Premier Protein drinks?

Truly don't know what to do

Thank you to everyone that has replied and offered words of wisdom. I will keep trying. Yogurt of any kind, unfortunately, isn't an option for me. It's probably the only food I've had an aversion to my entire life, and it hasn't changed since surgery. I've tried mixing it into smoothies and dinner recipes...if yogurt is in it, I can taste it and I simply cannot tolerate it. My daughter is the same way when it comes to yogurt. However, I will continue to try getting my Genepro down and trying to eat high protein foods the best that I can. I will trust those of you who have said it's a phase and will pass. Good luck to those of you in the same boat as I am.

    light headed

-- I'm about 24 days out and lightheaded/warm headed feelings have been my greatest complaint since day 6 ... Was hospitalized for dehydration on day 11 but still struggling with those symptoms and constant fatigue and overall weakness --- I think my challenge with getting in fluids is due to my hernia repair pain which carafate Rx has helped with a bit but still find challenging I've tried thinned oatmeal and cream of wheat but my hernia hated it -- felt like rocks in my chest -- I'm scared to try anything like that again ... Baby food blended and FAGE Greek yogurt blended with the RTD shakes are ok but still challenging so I don't drink those all the time -- I do feel like I need more nutrients and protein along with Water of course --- it's a full time commitment I've been battling constipation recently and found that colace capsules plus magnesium citrate have helped Sip sip sip all day so you don't end up in ER My blood pressure, oxygen and temperature were normal in ER but blood sugar was low - I have no co morbidities Hope you feel better soon!
  5. I just started the Puree stage of my diet. I made a batch of Pureed Chicken thighs made from skinless boneless chicken breasts with every iota of fat removed. I thinned it with low sodium chicken broth until it came together into a paste. I combine this with pureed hard boiled eggs and a little light mayo and greek yogurt to make a simple egg/chicken salad. I also mixed the pureed chicken with broths and strained cream soups to add a little protein and flavor. My body seems to be tolerating the chicken in pureed form just fine. I was a little concerned about introducing chicken back into my diet after talking to a friend who had Gastric Bypass about 8 years ago. She said Milk and Chicken were nightmare foods for her. I understand how you feel about chicken wings, and that crunchy fried texture. (I love my air fryer too). I have a few pounds of chicken wings, 2 wing-ettes per zip-lock bag, in the freezer waiting for the 'regular food' phase of my diet to start, after soft foods. My plan is to slow cook them in a sauce of some form until they are tender. It wont be crunchy, but they still will be wings. I have them in pairs of 2 for portion control. I'm going to treat them as, well, a Treat, and consume in moderation. Good luck on Soft foods, and your weight loss journey!
  6. Again, thank you for all of your insight. Tomorrow is his two week post op appointment and I will have a lot to say. Little has changed. Today he refused to go to his other doctor because he is too tired, and he refused to even talk to them. He's still demanding and thinks he's helpless. Snort. Three positive tiny moments, though. I heard him using the swiffer in the bathroom the other day. This weekend he was on the phone with a friend and he suddenly forgot he was pathetic. He laughed and talked with energy for a good 20 minutes. And this morning, miracle of miracles, he walked 10 extra feet and got his own yogurt. It's something. I am trying to do a better job of taking care of myself. Not easy. And yes, I have many options to consider. I'm well aware of the situation, and that I don't deserve the abuse. For all those who read this prior to surgery and wonder, he is doing well with his new eating style. He feels full. He feels satisfied. He swoons for my omelets still, just now they're tiny 1 egg versions with no butter and well cooked veggies. I don't think he expected to still find pleasure in food under the new regime...but he does.
  7. When I was on pureed, I mostly took Greek yogurt or cottage cheese to work for lunch. I had more interesting stuff for breakfast and dinner, but yogurt and cottage cheese were easy and portable. I had a serving size of 1.5 oz maximum, so I would often do 1 ounce of yogurt or cottage cheese with .5 ounce almond butter or cashew butter or similar stirred in.
  8. Hmmm think I'll try it with strawberry sometime too. I think they said greek yogurt because I notice its not as much sugar in it as reg yogurt.
  9. Protein shakes and Greek Yogurt are the most common sources of protein during the liquid phase. (my surgeon let me have yogurt while on liquids). I was also allowed watery oatmeal, sugar free pudding, and cream Soups with no chunks. I was told if it ran off the back of a spoon easily, I could consider it a liquid. Hang in there, we survived the liquid diet and you will too
  10. My week one diet is only Clear liquids, broth, Jello, Water, tea, apple juice.... Week 2 I can add cream of wheat, yogurt with no seeds or chunks and creamy Soups, Week 3 I can more "mushy" foods like scrambled eggs, cottage cheese... I'm day 4 post-op and HUNGRY! Anyone else experiencing hunger?

    Whatcha Eating?

I think way too much. I just tracked everything for the past couple days and I am shocked. But just this week I started feeling better and eating better so breakfast: 1 cup of oatmeal or 1-2 scrambled eggs with cheese Protein shake : 3 scoops. I blend it with ice and do it all at once. Comes out to almost 2 cups. Will drink 1 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon. snack: laughing cow cheese lunch: 1 egg beat made in crepe style some refried Beans and cheese snack: rest of my Protein Shake or a greek yogurt with protein or a pudding with protein dinner: Soup or if I am feeling okay some tuna or chicken salad. I am averaging 900-1000 calories a day 70 grams of protein and some 50grams of carbs. I think its too much my husband thinks its too little and my body is in starvation mode. Who knows ???

Cannot stand smell of majority of meat

You seem to like and tolerate dairy products; if you're not tolerating meat maybe consider adding something like yogurt? How do you feel about eggs?
  13. For travel. I always have protein bars and almonds. . I buy Greek yogurt at the airports. I also pack and check my bag with the premier pure protein shakes in my suitcase for the hotel.
  14. I'm doing well. I'm not quite up and all over the place yet, but the only thing that's hard so far is the puréed diet. Pretty much live on yogurt. My sleeve seems fine. Thanks for asking!

I am on full liquids. So that includes yogurt w/no fruit, Soups, cream soups, Jello, pudding, popsicles...........that is about it. Made potatoe Soup and pureed it been eating yogurt for Breakfast and lunch and soup for dinner. I get gas with everything I eat or the burps..........weird, weird feelings in my stomach all week. I am still in pain. Not on pain meds but hard to sleep at night and move around during the day. I drove today but I plan to hold off on that tomorrow...........it hurt quite a bit. Also went grocery shopping and it exhausted me I had to cancel the other errands I was just to tired.......... So nice to hear other people are having some of the same issues. I thought I was just a being a wimp!!

    June 25th sleevers

*GASP* That could soooo be it! I was lactose intolerant pre op but because I've yet to find an Organic Lactaid I just dealt with the bathroom runs..... But it makes sense & I never thought to think the lactose affects my body different now....! I will try my children's Almond Milk. They are lactose intolerant as well & since they've been drinking the stuff since I stopped nursing them they actually really like it. I'll see how it goes, thanks! Right now I'm having some white fish I sauteed and mixed with .5oz of yogurt for lunch. So far so good and surprisingly tasty after seasoning it well.

    Weight gain !

Hello everyone. I had my VSG surgery 8/17/15. My biggest weight was 227. Day of surgery I was 199. My one year surgery anniversary I was down to 153. I started stalling then. All of a sudden I started to gain the weight back. And now almost four years later, I weigh 213. I’m right back to where I was before surgery. I walk twice a day. Have a shake for breakfast and either a shake for lunch or chobani plain Greek yogurt. Dinner is a small meal. Just chicken with veggies or salad. Night time snack around 8 is a cup of popcorn. That’s all. I’m trying to get my water in. For some reason I cannot get the weight back down. I wish there was something else I can do. Is there such a thing as a second SLEEVE? I need all the advice I can get. Thank you so much for listening to my story. Please help. I’ve been to the nut and she tells me I’m doing everything right. I spoke to my surgeon and he says the same. I see him again in August and I really don’t know what else to do.
  19. So that means stay on my protein drink 3x a day... my Dr said to take yogurt 2x a day but heck thats outrageous... company is here.. bbl
  20. For low carbs, you pretty much have to eat all protein--no oatmeal, no prepared microwave meals, no crackers. Even a cup of skim milk has 13 gms of carbs. My turkey breast which I had for breakfast has 3 carbs as it's honey-roasted. My meals are fish, seafood, meat, greek yogurt, chicken, and eggs. cheese as a condiment and half&half in coffee.

    Mornings!

I need help! Mornings are getting better for me at least to not be so tired even after sleeping 8 -10 hours but now I can't start my protein or food. I just am not interested and not wanting anything but water. Isn't breakfast the most important meal of the day?? I'm 2 weeks, tried yogurt yuck, protein shake yuck, don't know what? I used to love having fried bologna and scrambled eggs. I don't know- about lunch time I get my protein in 60g at least. Help?! Need ideas

    September 2019 🍂🍁

Hi Everyone! Seems like everyone is doing really good for the most part. I feel a little frustrated that the weight came off SO FAST in the beginning but is starting to come off a lot slower - but slow and steady wins the race I guess! I'm having a hard time with fluid intake. It's more uncomfortable drinking stuff than it is eating..I find that ground beef goes down the best so I've been doing lots of ground beef and hamburger patties and just chewing chewing chewing! Also eating lots of greek yogurt these days and cheese. I love coming in here and reading everyone's progress. Keep it up everyone, we got this!

The only machine I've read a recommendation for is this one: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00004SUHY/ref=ase_heidiswanson-20/102-8022975-1520903?v=glance&s=kitchen]Amazon.com: Salton YM9 1-Quart Yogurt Maker: Kitchen & Dining[/ame] it seems to have good reviews on the amazon site as well. And it says for frozen yogurt, just freeze the yogurt (duh), lol

    3-week liquid postop course?

Hey Tina, You had mentioned Kristi in your other post and I thought you were referring to my sister, that is the exact same way she spells her name and you met her, but you're talking about the dietician! That's funny. I have researched the lap band for 2 years now. I just find it interesting how each surgeon has a different protocol for doing things. I'm happy you are doing well. :couch2: I just made the assumption I would be doing normal stuff like walking and showering, which I am, I think I actually may slow down for a couple of days. Incidentally, I had 2 oral surgeries last year that were much worse than this, thank goodness! EDIT: By the way, after reading my questions and the other posters, I was thinking, I must have missed something along the way! LOL I emailed Dr. Feng and talked with him and I DID! I missed the entire part of my post op material for "General Guidelines: Liquids and Solids." Geez, how flakey is that! Okay, that material has completely answered all of my questions. The whole creamy/yogurt question really confused me. Take care, Kelli

    Dairy Challenge

This is long and boring so nobody has to read it but I have to write it for my own therapy. I've had TWO good days! And I couldn't do it without all you guys, that's for sure. I learned a valuable lesson that we've all heard over and over again regarding sugar crashes and carb highs 'n lows. I told you that I started this Coke (a Cola) habit a couple months ago? Addictions are tricky cause I never drank the crap pre-bad but became quickly hooked recently. Not having a Coke in the morning was really hard the other day. Somehow I managed to get through the whole day without one. I was my own living science experiment as I quickly recognized that one Coke isn't doable if you have it in the morn. As soon as you crash, you have to drink another. Not an option, the body craves it. I'd have one in the morn and would fight the noon craving, but there was no way to fight the 3:00 p.m. craving. The day I gave up Coke (couple days ago) was the day I was able to avoid binge eating at night, and to have fruit instead of crap. I said in another post that I'd never have Splenda, but I realize I need something sweet and am taking the risk of eating poison since I don't have Splenda crashes. I bougth 1/2 gallon sugar free lowfat ice cream, and that's what I have at night before bed, otherwise I go insane wanting something worse. The crazy thing about SF ice cream is that one bowl satisfies me, whereas I'd need the whole carton of regular. Point is - Sugar is more powerful than Cocaine when it comes to addictions; in my book anyway. I've been doing the dairy thing, too. Karen H (band removed due to erosion and looking fabulous and tiny) drinks latte every day, so that's what I do now. 1% milk mixed with some strong coffee, I add cinammon and a pinch of fake sugar. I eat a yogurt when I get to work, then a fruit based lunch. dinner is whatever hubby is having, back to a small bowl or plate. Fruit at 7pm, then SF ice cream later. I noticed that fruit and yogurt for lunch doesn't fill me up, so that's probably not a smart choice for me since I'm hungry too fast. Today I brought some cheese and chicken salad with flat crackers and a bunch of grapes. I was up 9 pounds. Now I'm up only 4 pounds. This morning I felt like eating and almost gave in to it, but I keep having to tell myself that "this is the way I eat for life." I can't go back or I'll hate living.
