This is maybe a pre-emptive NSV since it won’t be until this afternoon, BUT... I’m getting my haircut in a pixie cut today after work! I’ve been wanting one since the last time I had one 12 years ago when I was at my lowest weight ever (until now). Nervous but it’s super exciting that I’m willing to take the plunge again for the first time in over a decade! The only reason I might back out is if she says the hair loss will be more apparent with the pixie cut, but otherwise I’m going to go for it and CAN’T WAIT!!

Hi everyone! I really enjoy reading about everyone's victories! Thanks for sharing. My NSV happened on New Year's Eve. We had some friends over and we decided to go sliding. Not only could I fit in the plastic sled, but I was able to walk up the hill without slowing down or huffing and puffing! What a great feeling!

NSV: vacation edition

I think it’s because of where it’s located - position and angle is impossible to reach otherwise! So interesting, learn something new every day. I'm thrilled that you had such exemplary NSVs on vacation. I hope to experience the same one day! -

Looks like you're having a ball! I'm so pleased Ireland is giving you lots of NSVs. I'm a wee bit biased but I do think it's a magical country! Sent from my SM-G930F using BariatricPal mobile app -
NSV: vacation edition

Love your positive post and it's great you achieved some wonderful nsv while on holidays. aaah Ireland! -
So I’m on an absolutely amazing trip to Ireland this week and it’s been fantastic both because, well, it’s IRELAND, and because it’s been chock full of NSVs. I am five months out from my RNY and as of the day I left home I am just about 70 lbs down (67.4 including two week pre-op). Some of my vacation NSVs: - my reaction to just about every picture that is taken of me is “OMG I LOOK SO GOOD!!”...total opposite of before weight loss - castles with a million stairs and huge hills to/from cool places like Giant’s Causeway don’t even cause me to get out of breath. I kept getting nervous and anticipated having a hard time with things that ended up being a breeze! - Lastly, one that is highly specific and special for me: I kissed the Blarney Stone! It involves 120+ very narrow winding stairs up and then someone holds you while you lie backwards and reach out to kiss it while you hold the bars and the person holding you helps. Even at my new weight I was self-conscious and nervous about whether I’d be able to do it or whether they’d look at me and tell me I was too big for it, but it went great! Here’s a not very flattering pic of it so you get the idea! I never ever would have had the confidence to try it before this weight loss. What a great feeling! What vacation specific NSVs have you had or do you look forward to??

Paddyski, let me put on my Judge Judy hat and assess this case. I find it to be one-half NSV, one-half OMG. Please tell me you weren't going Commando that day, that might cause a stampede!👣

soo just a quick question... is it still a NSV if you find yourself chasing your toddler through the mall on Christmas eve and you pants fall down to your ankles? still feeling mortified and joyful at the same time about that one.... Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!

Dose of Reality!!! Please do your Research!
Jazzy1125 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Let me start this thread by first apologizing if it is too straight forward. I know we all need support including myself and we are all here for support, to get to know one another, and to be there to pick one another up when we fall. Gastric Surgery is a life changing surgery! It will change the rest of your life for the rest of your life. It is a physical change to your inner workings of your body.. and ONLY your body. It does not change how we deal with food. It does not change how we choose to eat. A choice is a choice that solely rests on our shoulders. Our stomach was changed on the inside to restrict the amount of food we can consume at one time. That is it!! The rest is up to us. Please do your research before having the surgery. I have seen so many posts on here where people think because the stomach was altered the weight is going to magically drop off over night. Magic is found at Disney Only :). The hard work, exercise, controlled eating, limiting carbs avoiding junk food. Making the right choices when it comes to fueling our bodies is solely our responsibility! Let me add here.. i am far from perfect! I have struggled time and time again, hence why i am a part of these boards! Read the boards before surgery from newbies! And what they have experienced immediately following surgery. Every experience is different but you will know what you can expect, and if it does not happen to you.. Guess what? You are one of the Lucky ones!!! Count your blessings! Each and every one of them! Each day is a new day and a chance to put in a little extra effort to meet your end goals. Speaking of Goals! Have some! NSV ones, Scale Ones, Measurement Ones... We all have something we look forward to on this journey. Make lemonade out of lemons! Have fun with your new tool. Take advantage of it and baby it at the same time. Follow your doctors orders! We are not all doctors here! This is a major procedure. There are reasons the doctor puts us on the food plan that he does. It is not to punish us. It is to make sure we don't put a whole in the new stomach that is still stapled and healing. Seek out a therapist if you are struggling with emotional eating. The folks on the boards can give tips, but you really need to get to the root of that, and that may require a doctor visit. Yes Accountability is a great factor to have on the boards, and it is great to vent, but if you are truly struggling with emotional eating, then you truly need to seek a provider in your area to help you get through it. There is so much information, tips, and advice on the boards! Take advantage of it. Take time to read them! Be a part of the community and respond to others that may be having a down day.. It is expected! But please please before you take the plunge on this life changing surgery know what to expect. Know what might happen and be prepared for it along the way. Rant over! If you made it this far.. Thanks for reading. I just wish some folks would read up on something they are investing in and all the pros and complication possibilities so they know exactly how things may play out. With all my love and a Merry Christmas to all.. Jazzy -
November 2018 Sleevers!?!?
Starry*Night replied to Sealeafi's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
HUGE NSV guys, I'm so excited and had to share!!!! I cycle for my exercise on a stationary bike instead of walking. I started with the resistance at 0 and recently bumped it up to 1 - it's a big difference and I'd have to stop every 1-4 mins to give my legs a break. Well TODAY, I was able to cycle at that resistance for 45 mins straight!! AND I was able to peddle up to 30mph when I'd push it for a few mins every so often to break a sweat! By the time I was done, I was sweating and out of breath, and guess what? IT FELT SOOO GOOD!!!!! This must be the euphoria people feel after working out!!! I've never felt it in my life and it feels AMAZING!!! It also really relieved some stress. What victories have you guys been experiencing? -
Other nsv, my new obsession with actually trying on clothes lol. Was always afraid to because things didn’t fit and I’d be disappointed. Not the case anymore!

Hmmm, current nsv, not gaining over the thanksgiving holiday. I mean I don’t cook for thanksgiving but still. My weight has been stalling like crazy but my measurements are still shrinking. I was able to fit into a size 14 pair of jeans earlier in the month. Impossible!

And my post-OP sorrow came worst when I saw a picture of Bari-pal JakesMom with her surgeon on Surgery Day. You see, I dearly wanted such a picture, asked my son to do them to memorialize everything, I would never ever be that large again. Guess he thought I was delusional, over-sedated, like anyone who is chemically impaired, don't pick a fight, ignore them. But I have none, and I never will. I think I can remember in my mind but no documentation of a wonderful occurance in my life. I finally got a picture of my,Dr Needleman after trying for this many months, he kept resisting , told me he was UGLY , he's not, he was my physical life's rescuer, and I owe him such a debt of gratitude that I can never repay. Now I have a weight loss foundation tool, and I will work with it until and past my goal or until my dying day. If you are still pre-surgery, take down your measurements like James M says, even your ankles and wrists, that way when you lose you'll not miss NSV when they come. When people are kind to you, take their pictures, on your Day of Days take a photo record, my anesthesia doctor was extremely kind, he also left me feeling calm and safe that day, all I know was his name was Dave, he had kind eyes and made me feel special. But no picture of him or the surgical nurses that helped me be ready, and I would have felt so honored to have them, sort. of like a visual aotograph. So I did get a few from my recent unexpected hospitalization, gosh I thought I looked horrid, no wonder I got plunked in a room. But I did get several of Dr NEedleman's staff and a side view of my Big Kahuna in what I call his natural plumage, stopped to see me Still in Scrubs. And I shall treasure it like he was a Rock 🌟 because to me, He Always Will Be. Just got to make sure he's "backed up "somewhere so his image doesn't get erased.

Wedding rings - what to do?
MSTieMom replied to ummyasmin's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
First, awesome job on a NSV! Second, you can get a ring spacer for about $5. Little clear silicone thing that wraps around the band (on the palm side where it isn’t noticeable. They sell them on amazon and elsewhere. But for a quick fix if you don’t like having rings on your middle finger is to try switching it over to your right hand. If you are right handed you might find your right hand is slightly larger and the rings might fit better there. -
I don’t see my dietician until the 19th so my food options r still very limited 😔 what is nsv’s?
-
Careful with those, I had a bad experience 🤢🤢. As a treat for myself I’ve gone to the canarie islands to soak up some winter sun After a rough two weeks this is giving me the boost I need. Highly recommend do something nice for yourself when you hit the two week mark. Food wise I’m managing about six to seven mouthfuls of food. Trying to eat about 5 times a day that’s what my team suggest. Protein always comes first then usually veg. Looking forward to some nsv’s

I am 40 and am 5 weeks post-op. No complications so far (besides, like everyone else, trying to pass a stone where you shouldn't). Just had my 1 month post op appt earlier today and doc says I'm doing well, I feel excellent, energetic, and have had tons of NSV's in a really short period of time. To the original poster - my 1 week post op appt was a post surgery class that included about 10 other people that were also 1 week post op- I would say at least 7 or 8 out of those 11 people were 40+. I wouldn't worry too much about the age thing.

@danieocean CONGRATS! I had the SAME feeling when I was finally able to find back into my VS bras! HUGE victory! All the same items as Misouri-Lee's Summit above, including the sentiment that I don't like snug fitting clothing anymore. But, my most recent NSV was to go into a clothing store and buy NORMAL size clothes, not a size with a "W" behind it. I nearly cried at that one.
