    Optifast Shakes

I had to do optifast shakes for pre-op. I only got 3 a day tho, for 2 weeks. They didn't taste good, but they didn't taste bad. I didn't care for the strawberry ones, but I don't like anything strawberry. I did the chocolate and vanilla. They were really sweet. I found they were easier to drink if they were really cold, or even over ice, and with a straw.

    Stall

Oh yes! What to do is not to panic. Stick with getting your protein and fluids in, along with exercise. Keep doing what you are meant to and don't get down about it - your stall will eventually break. I had a stall that went on for a few weeks, I kept going and eventually the scale plummeted! Good luck....

    Puréed foods

Wow @@britt_12, after 4 days of Broth I don't wanna even see the word Broth. How did you last 2 weeks?

    Full liquid question

I never measured my liquids either. I'd eat 1 small can of Cambells tomato Soup (with 1% milk) a day, broken up into 4 meals. I drank a 1oz medicine cup of Protein shake every hour (or actually whenever I remembered was more like it) and all the Water, crystal lite, Jello, and sf popsicles I wanted. To this day, I can't eat tomato soup. Thank God I found Progresso Tomato Basil Soup, cuz I'm gunna be back on the liquids for 3-4 weeks after my sleeve revision surgery in June. Luv me some Tomato Basil Soup! I would probably break 1 can (2 cups) into 4 meals also (1/2 cup each meal). Nothing like tomato soup for breakfast! Good luck! You'll be happy when you can add mashed potatoes (at least I was. Could've bought stock in KFC!) Marci
  6. I am 5 weeks post-op and have lost 20 pounds. A couple of days ago, I began to notice that when I bend down and come back up, I can feel something moving in my belly. It kinda feels like maybe the tube that goes from the band to the port. It is not painful, just a funny feeling. I have also noticed that since I have lost a little weight, I can feel my port more. Has anyone had a similar experience?

    Pasta?!

Wow my doctor must be strict. I am a week post of. For the 1st 2 weeks I am on liquids only and it's the gross bariactric protein products. Nothing else! I also have to strain my soup. They don't want anything to get stuck while healing. I don't think I can ever eat pasta...

    Pasta?!

Whole wheat pasta and brown rice are on my list of approved foods for weeks 2-6. I haven't tried any yet (5 weeks out) but will eventually. I was never a big bread eater before surgery so I don't think carbs are a "trigger" for me.

    Coffee

I'm glad to see this. I miss coffee so much. I'm currently one week out. My surgeon never said anything about coffee because I stopped drinking it a month before surgery. Do you guys ever have decaf this early?

    Coffee

I was allowed caffeine after one month. I have it everyday with either almond milk and artificial sweetner. A few days a week I do use creamer. No problems whatsoever.

    Exercise

First 3 weeks, did lots of walking. Started back to my aerobic water class at about the 4th week, but some of the jumping, hopping things would hurt, so I did what I could. By the end of the 5th week, I could do everything that I used to do before and then some. No pain by then.

    Exercise

I'm 2.5 months out. I swim 3x a week, go dancing, and then do the occasional walk. Hoping to incorporate some strength training as well but for now I'm happy with my routine!

    Exercise

I'm like 6 weeks out and i haven't started intense exercise yet. I'll probably wait until a year or so after surgery, I'm planning on doing extensive hiking in the Sierras with a buddy of mine back in California. I also plan on getting a bike, if I can find practical ways of using it.

    Exercise

I had my 2 week check up yesterday and I was told I could return to Crossfit (I've been going for over 2 years). The Dr said to listen to my body and stop a movement when it hurts. I'm going back to class on Monday and plan to lift light for the first few weeks, but I should be fine with the cardio portions.

    Coffee

I don't drink coffee but I drink iced tea a few times a week. I never bothered with decaf. I have heard caffeine is an appetite stimulant so be careful if u choose to have caffeine.

    8 week Dr visit

Great job!!!! 40ish pounds by week 8 seems to be the normal as I keep reading that im 8 weeks tomorrow and down 43!
  17. You need to consider that it could really set your weightloss back. Alcohol has lots of calories, and it may reduce your inhibitions enough that you eat things not on your plan. I would tread carefully. You don't want to ruin a whole weeks work in one night.

    Dl Over Here :)

Hello why the last 14 pounds is taking forever to come off? I didn't lose anything last week. I'm stuck at 139. Come on can you sprinkle something over here so the pounds come off before I'm 34 lmbo that's in December 7.

    Waist training?

So Im 12 weeks out and Im losing the weight, although when I look in the mirror I dont see it. But my question is: Has anyone tried waist training? Do u think its too soon? I havent spoken to my surgeon yet, dont see him for 3 more weeks. And I dont feel as though I need to call him about this, figured I'd wait til I see him. But I was curious to know if anyone as tried/trying it. My midsection is the most stubbornest part of my body, and although its going down. Just not quick enough for me! Thought I might invest in a GenieWaist. Let me know what you guys think...
  20. Hi everyone, I was banded almost 2 weeks ago and am doing great. This website is just priceless in helping me get prepared! I just joined today as a member, but have been reading threads and posts for quite some time. I've lost 26 pounds since starting my liquid diet, and hope to have continued success. I wish everyone on this site all the success we all deserve!
  21. I had surgery last Monday and have followed the post surgical diet to the T ... I’ve also been walking everyday, keeping up with my 12 month old baby, and working full time ... and I’ve lost NO weight. It’s beyond frustrating to see the scale not budge!

    First Fill?

Bands are left empty when they are first put in (although I am sure there are some Exceptions to this) I was able to get my firt sill at 6 weeks post op, however, I decided not to get it then, I was still losing weight easily, in fact rapidly. I finally had my first fill about 12 weeks post op.

    Ahh A Great Dinner!

My surgeon said potatoes are a great option but no rice or other starchy foods though. And I said I ate it over almost 3 meal periods silly that's 3 hours . I can't get it 6 times a day so I shoot for 4. 30 lbs down and counting I move on to Cheerios and the like next week. Just softer foods. It's funny how each surgeon and dietician are different lol.
  24. Hi! I am new to the forums and thought I would post a quick introduction. I just had my surgery on Thursday, October 16, 2008 of last week, and am in the healing process. Never in the world did I think I would be as looking forward to eating pureed food as I am right now! I began looking into both the bypass and the lap-band surgeries last year, and decided to opt for the lap-band. Now, I've got the surgery almost a week behind me, and am feeling better by the day. Well, that's a bit about me. Looking forward to meeting you all. Tara
  25. I actually stall out when I am off my birth control for whatever reason. Most people I've met actually have better results while on birth control. Then again, I and many of these women have PCOS just like @@SweetPotato so it may be different for you if you do not have any hormone issues.
