Hi everyone! I'm 11 days out of from surgery, I had the Gastric Bypass and I'm feeling a little frustrated because I haven't lost anymore weight since that first week of surgery! I'm only down 15lbs. Am I doing something wrong? I feel kind of discouraged! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I returned to the gym around 2½ weeks. I started wearing compression pants and tops. I only wear spanx for dressy look and have never worn a corset.

I'm three weeks out today, and I'm eating 600-750 per day. No more than one 10 oz protein drink per day.

I cringe every time I see a thread that mentions calories...... I seem to be eating many more calories than most on here. I average 1200 I am less than 3 months out I have lost 70 pounds but my weight loss has slowed recently to a pound or two a week. I am eating clean very few carbs and drinking plenty of water but compared to some on here I am gorging myself. The guys at work laugh at my meals. 6 ozs of lean meat for lunch. I would like feed back also

Hello everyone, First post and I am right out of the gate with a rant. I have come here to learn more about my bariatric surgery(VSG) and To make a long story short i am PAYING CASH !!! I don't know the rules yet on listing the business by name but I had some questions i would like to get answered. My Story is that I am doing this surgery (VSG) with my Fiance. So we are PAYING OUT OF POCKET for two surgeries. I was cleared this past week and the surgery scheduler called me and asked when i would like to perform my Sleeve. I told her i am holding off till my Fiance is cleared--meaning she passes her Psych evaluation and we are getting it done together... Fiance was cleared this past Friday for surgery and as of Monday we never even got a call??? Thinking really nothing of it my fiance called on Tuesday and she was kinda given the run around and no one there in the office could really asnwer some pretty basic questions. We had placed a total of 3 calls and one email and nothing !!! This company was not like that though?? they always had answers and they always returned phone calls and email till Tuesday. WE finally got an answer and that was the company was going to call us today at 0900 and tell us some things. 0900 comes and no phone cal. 09:20 comes and stil no phone call so I called them and spoke with a Lisa. Long story short--she said that she didnt think that her company "BS" is the best fit for us?????? i am blown away and said i was just scheduled this past week and i waited on my fiance to get cleared and now your telling me i cant have a surgery i am PAYING CASH FOR???? WTF ???? I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF ANYTHING SO ASANINE IN MY LIFE AS THIS ??? MY QUESTION IS HAS THIS EVER HAPPENED TO ANYONELSE WHEN YOU WERE PAYING CASH????

Is This Normal? Is Anyone Experiencing Or Experienced These Feeling 2 Weeks Before Surgery?!
TexasDy replied to beane007's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm still 6 weeks out and have been wondering the same thing. If I'm going to do this, I don't want to be the one that screws it up. I'm coming to terms with the risks involved (something wrong w/ the surgeon, surgery itself, the band, or my body physically rejecting the band) and have started playing head games. Can I really do this? Will this truly be the tool that helps me overcome this fight? Thanks everyone for your encouraging words!! -
OK, here's what I know, for what it's worth. I'm learning as I go along, and just share what I know... I'm willing to read labels and bring in more info, because I just ASSUME (silly me) that everyone is kind of on the same page. I didn't research how Mexico works, because I didn't do that. So... My surgeon is part of a group that includes him, two dieticians (or, on here, NUTs), an exercise physiologist (trainer) with a gym we can use, an insurance coordinator (my hero), a nurse-case manager, and an office manager. The program involves seeing the NUT and the trainer every month to meet the insurance requirements that their coordinator knows by heart because it's all she does. She gets us approved! The nurse case-manager handles the medication change questions, and other individual things like CPAP and heart and diabetes... So we see her when we are having our freak outs. She's just left, and they are hiring a replacement (not that she can be replaced, but another one, anyway). And monthly support groups. So the program IS the dietician who knows bariatrics. The surgery happens, but it's the tool we use with the NUT program and the gym work we do. I'm shocked that you don't have a NUT. HOWEVER, don't freak out at weight loss numbers. I was sleeved May 13, BUT that was after I had lost almost 60 lbs already, through diet and exercise with the program. (shocked me, let me tell you). I'm thinking I'm losing slowly now, but when we're in a stall, here's what they ask us: Are you tracking your food (measuring and weighing and writing it all down)? are you hitting your Protein goals (they set them based on gender and height. I'm 5'10" and a girl and mine is 85g / day)? Are you getting your fluids (64 oz of non-calorie, but your Protein shake counts)? No caffeine, no carbonation. Low carb diet. No more than 5 eating points a day. A shake a day. (if pressed, they will give a calorie target, mine is like 1000/day). Eating your Vitamins? No more than 1 c of food at a time. Does that help? Feel free to ask me more questions. I have lots of paperwork that I refer to - I'm a scientist

Greetings from Chicago!

LOL...ok. First off, I was able to get my band because I had pre-diabetes. While on my pre-op diet I had lost 12 lbs. The difficult time for me was after surgery and before my first fill. I love to eat. Or should I say loved. I had my first fill and it was not adequate. I was still hungry. I went back to the doc about 2 weeks later and said "Fill it up!" So, he made the band pretty tight. I was able to drink a lot of fluids (ate lots off egg drop soup!) but when it came to food, 2 bites and I was done. I actually had the same fill for about 4.5 months. When I reached my goal he took out a lot of my fill and now I only have 1cc. I am maintaining quite well so far. I think my big thing was that before my band, I was quite lazy. After, I began to really workout and along with the reduction of food intake the pounds just melted away. I hope that helps, I'd be glad to answer any other questions that people may have. -
It took one of my dr's 4 weeks to get my report in. When it came to getting paid tho they had to have my credit card on file and charged my card before my visit. $250.00. So I know how you feel! Finally all my paperwork is turned in and waiting on approval.

6 weeks in and no REAL loss and FINALLY Restriction at 6.5 !!! The best way that I can describe it is, its like swallowing an ice cube, whole, really fast, while its still solid.. Even if i have chewed a thousand times i can still feel it going down my throat and down into my chest. It definitely scared me I'd never felt this before now and i think I like it especially if it means eating less and losing weight. Maybe NOW i can do the no carb diet my office has been suggesting. My friends and coworkers have all cancelled their lap band consultations bcuz everything id lose after a fill id regain the same before the next fill. Hopefully my new found restriction will have them reschedule their appts! Yay Me!!!

Proteins, carbs and calories, oh my!
lauraellen80 replied to DojiGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too! In fact, I called my surgeon's office in tears a couple weeks post op because so many posts on here were so anti-carb, and it had me freaking out and questioning everything my dietician told me. -
I was on liquids for 3 weeks post op. I'm a little jealous!

Return to Work from Home
Wendyfm replied to sleeveplease's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds like you should be ok. To go back to work from home the following week, but wow! Reading the post from Bariatric Hero has me dumbfounded. I was in the hospital for four days Monday through Thursday and didn't even drive for over a week. Although I was walking the next day and taking walks the day after I left the hospital. -
I have my plastics date! Aye!!! So here's my question, 5 weeks post op is spring break. Do you think a three hour car ride to a family resort sounds doable?

Looking For A South/central American Plastic Surgeon
Lee replied to crosswind's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I had a lot of body and face work done last month in Mexico by Dr. Sauceda. He specialized in massive weight loss and has great rates. I was there, under his care for two weeks all inclusive. He has a group over on ObesityHelp dot com. There are a lot of us over there that recently had surgery. He will be in las Vegas in June doing consultations. -
So, had my pre-op appointment on Friday. I don't know why they call it pre-op when I don't have a stinking date LOL! I had to basically sign consent forms, get weighed in and that was it. Surgical will contact me this week to get the surgery scheduled, but I mean, all this waiting is really making me lose momentum. Between completing all the doctor's appointments (and waiting for them), waiting for insurance approval, waiting for this pre-op appointment because they wouldn't give me a surgery date without it. It just feels like this is dragging now...... I know there are lots of people on the board that need to complete 6 months or even a year, so I'm sorry if I sound like a brat. It's just this lull right now is making me feel it's never going to come. I think I'm going to hit support group tonight. That always brings me back and makes me feel like this is really happening. I'm just really losing steam. Thanks for listening.

Yea, I keep thinking about that overdoing part. I'm hoping I'll do less that week if they have a pool to play in, etc. maybe I need to bring a teenager along....unclear if DH will be able to go since he's taking time off for me to recover.

dear.amanda posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm documenting my weight loss journey on Instagram @dear.amanda. Im a veteran, mother, wife and student. Early this year I decided I wanted to live life. I didn't wanna be held back because of my weight. I have struggled the last three years with my weight. I don't wanna be another statistic. Also I wanna find a few buddies who are going to be having surgery around the same time as me. May 16th ... T-minus 8 more days Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I'm currently in the middle of my two week diet before surgery. The center that is performing my surgery sets you up with an eating plan with Meal Replacements they prescribe... Plus a sensible high Protein with vegetables meal... Like an expensive version of Slim Fast! My LORD am I hungry. It wasn't as bad last week while I was at work, because I stay busy... but, this weekend has been torture. I'll make it, however. Eye on the prize. I've finished getting all my supplies for the surgery and at least the first three weeks after surgery. It's funny, because all these folks who have been so supportive this past month are starting to freak out on me and I think they want me to freak out also... I'm gonna smack the next person who tells me, "Well, if you can do this two week diet.. why don't you just keep doing it and lose weight?" I'm going to smack them on both sides of the head, I tell ya. But, I'm still looking forward to the surgery. It's like a big jumping off point! Had to rant.

Phew! I'm so glad to see that week three is known as a stall week, because I'm totally there too. Today, I decided to put the scale away for a little while... for my own mental well-being.

In going on week five and can attest to the three week stall. I started upping my protein and added in walking and by the middle of week four I was losing again.

I am almost 5 weeks out and anything I eat causes discomfort. The only thing that goes down ok and stays down ok is crackers. I am not sure if I am eating too much, too fast or what. My sleeve seems to be very very tiny- it would honestly suit me just fine to not eat at all, but I keep trying because I know that is how I'm going to lose the weight. Any advice??

I am only 19 years old and will be turning 20 by the end of this month. I decided to have this surgery about a month and a half ago and I've already completed my pre-surgery checklist. I should be able to schedule my surgery within the next few weeks. I've noticed that when I research the sleeve and success stories, not many of the sleevers are young like me. Is anyone else having this surgery in their early 20's? It would be great to connect with some individuals who made this decision at a young age such as I am!

Love my Fitbit. Have 5000 steps as goal (2 weeks after surgery). Would never get the steps if I didn't have this constant reminder.
