  1. "You're saying that we don't have to be baptised or go to church to get into heaven, right? And since we are all known by Jesus and God to be sinners, and he doesn't expect us to go through life without sinning, we don't have to worry that being a bad person or a sinner will keep us from getting into heaven just as long as we have faith in God?" I do believe that we don't have to go to church or get baptised in order to get to heaven. And we don't have to be perfect. God knows that none of us are perfect and that we are going to sin, it is our human nature. I don't have all the answers, I don't understand a lot of the Bible. I think the Bible has been edited and revised so much from its original version that it is almost imposible to understand. I do believe that all we have to do is repent from our sins and ask Jesus to come into our hearts and save us. And we have to be truthful, and honest and really mean it and really believe it. While we don't have to be perfect, I do believe that if we have truely asked forgiveness and have faith that Jesus has saved us, then we will want to live right and do good. I don't think it is a requirement to get into heaven, but if Jesus is living inside your heart, you will not want to do bad. You will want to live the best you can. But that doesn't mean we won't slip from time to time. And God knows this.

    Any regrets?

Absolutely zero regrets. I was a band to sleeve revision. It was the best thing I ever did. I had horrible complications, extensive recovery, and I would do it all over again to be living this life that I have today. I'm 15 months post revision and loving life.

Over 60 and having the sleeve

Ginny C I am 63 and had a band(that had gone bad) to sleeve revision 3 weeks ago. It was hard on me for the first few days. I stayed overnight at the hospital and my husband drove me 150 miles home. I had a migrane for the first few days at home. I was wishing I had never had it done. But after a few days I felt fine and was very happy I had it done! I have lost 23 lbs in the 3 wks since my surgery. The best thing that happened to me is I found this forum. I am on a pureed diet til next week when i go on a soft diet for 2 weeks. I cant wait. I walk a mile on my treadmill every morning. I still get weak at times, but they are getting less and less. good luck with your surgery! Jeri

Over 60 and having the sleeve

I am 100% for the sleeve. !! Sent from my SM-N910T using the BariatricPal App Get that band out before it ruins your stomach and you can't get any kind of revision surgery. I had my band out and got the sleeve in the same surgery, 7 years ago. i am 63 now. It was the best decision of my life. The sleeve works so well. I can still only eat small portions. Just like the sleeve though, candy is my biggest threat. The sleeve does not stop sweet cravings and unfortunately, most of them go down just fine. I'm still fighting a 10 lb regain but at 7 years, I am thrilled that's all it is. It's harder to lose weight the older we get. It could easily be 20 or more, if I didn't watch things so closely.

Anyone From The Raleigh Nc Area?

I had RNY revision on 6/28/12. My dr is up in concord so he recommends a support group at north east med center. I'm hoping to find one in Charlotte.

Why is banding so frowned upon?

It's sad that you are in such an environment! My doc is really pretty balanced and at my 400+ start weight never batted an eye when I chose the band over RNY. I'm so sorry you don't have that kind of support! But 3 years down the road, we bandsters have figures that compete with RNY and other bypass patients, and it is becoming more frequent for RNY patients, several years post op, to get "revision" surgery and get the band. Why? It is adjustable, that's why! It's always good to question yourself, but don't DOUBT yourself! The band has a much much higher rate of success than "dieting", I guess because it isn't dieting. You'll do great at it!

    I'm freaking out!

This anxiety is normal. It is major surgery...if you weren't freaking out, then you should panic! I'm not in the medical field and to be quite honest, I'm fairly naive about the complications associated with a revision. With that being said, I do believe in the power of prayer...I pray God gives your surgeon and surgical team the skills to perform your revision without any complications and I pray you have a speedy, complication-free recovery!

    Jan 2019 bypass buddies

I had my pre-op yesterday (1/8/19). I actually had 5 appointments. 1) pre-op (surgery is 1/21/19), 2) heart sonogram with cardiologist, 3) blood work, 4) dietitian, and 5) stress test wit the cardiologist. I was surprised to learn I do not have to do clears for 2 week pre-op. My sheet says either 4 protein shakes a day or low calorie, low carbohydrate dies of no more than 50-60 carbs per day. No snack type foods, sweets, or starches (bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, corn, peas, cereal, crackers, etc.) I am having a revision from sleeve to bypass.

Hi Mimi! Also January 29th. In Michigan. I don’t have that pain under my incisions. I’m not even sure what it might be? I had revision from band to bypass. Did you find out what the pain was and has it gotten better?

  13. Night snacking: I’m having a hard time not snacking at night. I sleep in a recliner many nights, working, researching. And I still have munches, I’m 4.5 weeks out of Sleeve to RNY revision. I’m not going over calories, so a bowl of Cashew Yoghurt with Blue berries, a high protein low carb bar, or some protein chips. But worried and wondering if this is undermining my efforts? And why do I still have munchies anyways? Surgery date 8/22, I’ve lost 28lb total, 14 before and 14 after ::
  14. @shoregirl75 is having a revision from sleeve to bypass September 10th.
  15. Do you mind sharing what your numbers were at 5 weeks? My doctors office did not really have a weight goal broken out for me like that. Maybe it’s because I’m a revision and it’s snyones guess...! I’m going next week and I plan to ask.

    March sleevers hows everyone doing??

Sleeved March 22nd, highest weight 227lbs, surgery weight 196, down to 154 now. 4 pounds from my original goal of 150lbs so I'm revising lower. when I was obese 150 seemed so far away and unreachable... and now I'm there in four months! I know I can do more than this now. I'm absolutely loving my life now. I can't believe how much better 2017 has been to me than years before! I have so many new friends, I do so many activities that I'd have never even thought to try. I have a whole closet of cute dresses and lululemon I never could have worn before! tracking has been kind of on and off, but overall I've still been eating healthy, not drinking calories, not eating out as much as I ever used to, trying to avoid bringing tempting junk food into my house. still working on getting enough water in during the day, and making a point of being more consistent about taking my vitamins. I've been really good about keeping up activity though, so that's a win! I have lots and lots to work on, but even so, what a change!
  17. My surgery was over 3 times longer than it should have been for a Band removal revision to RNY. I arrived at 6am, was in prep by 630 and was in the surgical suite by 730-800. I was awake and coherent before around the same time my bed made it back to the recovery room. My family was allowed in at that point (once I was awake) From there I did a little light walking, then I was wheeled up to my room within an hour or so. I was then in my room for the rest of day 1, 2 overnights and I was home before 1pm on the 3rd day of my stay.

    Considering ESG

I had an ESG in Oct 2018, I had a VSG revision in March 2020. I do regret having an ESG, in Australia its not covered by medicare thus not covered by health insurance, I self funded. It was a waste of my money and. The sutures did not anchor properly and/or loosened. Looks like Dr Blosser has been around for awhile and hopefully well experienced with ESG. Questions I would ask are how many ESG procedures has he done? Success / failure rate after a year? Complication rate? What can you expect for recovery? What medication prior to and post procedure? What was the heaviest an ESG patient has weighed (his patient that is) and how much did they lose? How many of his ESG patients that he knows of have had a surgical revision? What is the average excess weight loss (EWL) % (it used to be about 20% it may have changed) vs EWL % for his patients. What is the post op program? How much on top of the procedure expenses will this cost? if you have to attend dietician and/or behavioural coach appointments)? One of the selling points of ESG is less complications and quicker recovery, however, this is generally offset by lower weight loss. If you have a lot of weight to lose (BMI 40 and over) you may be better off going with a surgical option. Typically a ESG leaves a stomach with more volume than the surgical option, hence, weight loss will not be as significant as for surgery. LIke the surgical options, many people have had success with ESG and many people haven't.

    Sleeve to bypass

I revised only three weeks ago due to severe acid reflux. Unfortunately it has not helped my reflux at all. I'm in pain 24/7. Literally. However this is NOT the norm apparently and I would encourage anyone to revise who has GERD.
  21. Anyone have revision from sleeve to bypass? I would like to hear your story? Ups, downs, how it is working for you?....any information you are willing to share with me... Thank you

    Bruised

So I was revised 5/27. I’m feeling great... went to bed and awoke with a horrendous bruise on the left side of my belly button ... incision site. Didn’t have a bruise when I went to bed. It’s hard large and painful. Feels like a baseball underneath. All the others are greenish as it’s been over a week. I called the emergency service for my surgeon and his associate called me back. Just said if no fever it’ll be okay. ER if I want but with COVID unsure I wanna go but I had surgery and everything was impeccably clean. Maybe CITYMD. maybe it needs to be drained? 👩🏼‍⚕️

    Boo Boo Kitty's PS Journey

Hey everyone! I am beginning to feel human again. I went to work today just to say hello. I miss work. I am going to go nuts. They were happy and mad to see me...lol... My port area is so huge, I am so worried. I hope the swelling goes down or I am sure I will be having a revision. I am hoping they didn't put it too close to the skin, it sticks out above my ribs now. SUCKS....I am debating on going to see my Lap band surgeon. I wonder what he would say. What do you all think? I am going to post some before and afters soon.

BBK, are you going to put up new pics on makemeheal that youve had your revision? I only see your pics before your revision surgery where you were having problems. Id like to see how it turned out when he fixed them. Are you happy with everything now?
