I am 6 weeks postop & I was getting extremely nauseous after taking the multi after breakfast. My NUT told me to take it right before bed & it's worked perfectly...hope you find a balance and feel better soon.

I am 2 weeks post op and I can’t stomach my Celebrate chew-able multivitamin. Literally 30 seconds after eating it i get the rumble and then extreme nausea. Should I get a Flintstone vitamin??? What did you use at this point in the game?

STALLED! Must stop the PANIC :(
is it just me replied to Jenn_Marie518's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3 months out and have stalls for about a week but then will lose 6lbs or so.... -
I'm three years past surgery & I've never heard of that.

I know it's early to Celebrate (or is it?) or maybe not enough to create a whole topic, but this might motivate people peeking through the endless pages of the forums! So I'm officially three months (and two days) out of my surgery, and I have lost 27kgs, which translates to 59,5248 pounds according to google! I am really glad I did this surgery for it has already changed many aspects of my life, it has taught me that life's pleasures do not only revolve around eating/drinking. I know the "path" is still veeery long and that it will not always be easy, but so far I am really pleased with the results. Of course I strictly follow my surgeon/doctors advice and I also do loads of sports : I swim twice a week (1,6 miles each time) and I go mountainbiking two to three times a week (depends on the amount of rain my place receives), around 20miles each time. Cheers everyone, and thanks to people that have been helpful on the forums !

Lap Band on 10/22
jenfromtheburgh replied to DrESBE's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had my surgery on 10/14. Answers to questions: 1. it is normal not to go #2. I am doing liquids for 2 weeks so there is no food to cause you to have a bowel movement. As you introduce foods, you will start once again. They also say that a diet high in Protein can cause constipation but everyone is different. My doctor recommends a stool softner and a mild laxative to help. 2. To get the gas out of your system, they suggest to walk, walk, walk. 3.When you burp, it may feel like that. Remember you had major surgery and disrupted your tummy. It may take time for things to heal. 4. There are protein supplements that you add to Water, I haven't tried any myself but you could check out the various wesites that offer Protein powder or a health food store (like GNC) where they sell them. Good luck!! -
Today is one week since my surgery date and I am happy to report I am 10lbs down!!! I am beyond thrilled and although I know I won't be losing 10lbs every week it is a great start because it hasn't been easy and has been very painful but it all is definitely worth it!!!

Hi, Banders! I'm being banded March 13. I was wondering if any of you have found any type of support group meetings in your area that you go to. My surgical center has one but it's only one day a month. I've driven to two other groups from other hospitals within an hour from my home, but those also are only monthly, and one of them was very discouraging (two married people who talked the whole time about how they learned to cheat their band -- I went twice to that one and it was the same pair both times). In a former life, I lost 140 pounds in OA, only to gain it back after getting married. While in OA, the meetings were a lifesaver and I could go to one any day of the week within an hour of my home. But my head is really not in the 12-step realm right now. I've thought of re-joining WW just for the meeting capability, but the ongoing cost could be an issue. It doesn't even have to be a WLS support group, just weight loss, and hopefully, free or cheap. Thoughts? (BTW, this online forum is wonderful, but getting out of the house to a group does help me.) Worst case scenario, I'll probably go back to WW. Thanks for the feedback!

I posted this in the wrong forum so I'll repost here: As most of you know that are reading this I will be getting an unfill tomorrow after about 3 weeks of suffering being to tight. I'm so so so so scared that hunger will come back and attack me. I know that we should feel some amount of hunger, or how else would we know when to eat to survive. But I'm scared of the ravenous hunger that I used to have pre-band. Is it just me? Am I being unreasonable??? Please anyone help put my mind at ease

I believe the correct answer is "whenever you feel like it" lol. I'll let you know how long that is when I get back from surgery next week -
Where you at November Bandsters???
gotmyeyeontheprize replied to LookatmeNow34's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded November 22nd and am not too far from my goal. Since I hit the 100 lb. mark, it has been a slow loss. That is partially my fault since I have been sampling foods that were a complete no-no before. My advice is to make sure your band is adjusted well. Then, slowly eliminate carbs and fat. My doctor only allows 5 grams of carbs per meal. If you are not exercising, start doing so ASAP! I swear by my exercise routine. I do a mix of strength training and cardio three times a week. Then, I try to walk/jog a couple of days a week. That is the only thing that has kept me losing at this point. -
GAS
TheRealSouthernBelle replied to dentalronna@gmail.com's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hate to tell y'all that it's probably not going anywhere! It's crazy because as much research as I did I never heard about permanent gas. Before surgery I had gas maybe a couple times a week now it's all day everyday. Thank God I have my own office. It's sometimes painful. I asked the PA about it and she told me that for some patients it never goes away, but if that's a side effect of amazing weight loss, well, I guess I'll take it. -

Preach on Leepers! I thought I was the only one not burping but blowing the butt trumpet! Unfortunately my husband and three boys try to match me toot for toot since I burp like a newborn now.

I must be a loser. I was sleeved April 10th with no pre- op diet....starting weight 238 & today 190 almost 50 lbs. I've been exercising faithfully this week so I will weigh myself then. I weigh myself on Sundays and have been stalled for a slow losing #. Any suggestions? Thinking in going back to liquids for a jump start.

I'm having trouble posting my topic so if it's entered twice you'll know why! I'm 6 weeks post op and was able to eat a whole taco including the shell. No upsets. I would think that would be too much food. Comments?

I'm also one week out. I want some food other than broth and shakes too. Do you know when you get to move on to the next food stage? Planning my grocery shopping for that has been keeping my mind busy.

Sleevers Whom Are Nearly 4 Months Out
CHELL replied to Prada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'll b 4 months post op on 8/23. Honestly I haven't had any problems with eating anything I've tried thus far. Ofcourse there are lots of things I haven't tried and I try to make good choices most of the time. I have been able to tolerate everything I've tried thus far but can only eat much smaller portions than pre op. I do have an occasional junk food splurge n have had no problems. Still losing. I've also had the occasional stall here n there but the losing always kicks back n eventually. -
I was sleeved 8 weeks ago. My first 4 weeks were great, then my issues started. I started having nauseous bouts and everything I ate or drank was coming back up. I went to my check up with my surgeon and he said I was extremely dehydrated. He pumped me full of 2 bags of fluids gave me a Vitamin B1 and 12 shot. I was suppose to feel better within a day. I went then weekend with no relief. Surgeon called Monday to check and they sent me to get an upper GI. When the surgeon called with the results he said I had a "tight spot" and I had a choice: 1) doing nothing and hope the spot will stretch on its own (and the stomach above the "spot" doesn't just stretch itself and cause me to have dumping later on) OR 2) have the GI Dr. go in and stretch it some. I have been tolerating food a little better lately and getting my fluids in but still not able to get the daily requirements. My questions are : Has anyone had this issue? If so what did you choose to do? and even if you have not what are your thoughts? I have a consultation with the GI Dr. this coming Monday and will need to make a decision...I DO NOT want it stretched too much in fear the surgery will be a waste. So confused....

Now that we are talking about odd things after surgery...At about the one month mark my hair started falling out in handfuls! I have waist length thick curly hair and was mortified. My surgeon laughed and said that was how he knew I was losing weight but it freaked me out. He gave me vitamin injections for one week then I had to cut it into a bob. After that I was put on low estrogen and it has seemed to stop and is growing back. I just hadn't heard anyone talk about this is all.

Two And A Half Weeks Out of Lap Band Surgery And A New Pain Started?
jenn875 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had very little pain with my lapband in the beginning. I'm about 2 1/2 weeks out from surgery and I just started having pain about where my port would be. It's almost like a burning pain sometimes. Any idea what this could be or is this something common? I'll probably give it another day or so and call my doctor before the holiday if it doesn't stop. -
411 REQUESTED: for weeks 1 through 1st fill
avargas18 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been reading about "bandster hell" and "sweet spot". Overfills - stretching etc. Cheating and Straying. I thought I knew enough but suddenly feel less confident. Can you all break down your experiences from post surgery through the 1st fill. Please give me the good, the bad, and the ugly (and despite being gross, was really funny). Also, tell me what you wished your docter or friends would have said regarding their experience. Thanks a bunch! -
Post Op day 2 at home Sleeping
_Kate_ replied to Truly Blessed_vsg's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had to sleep propped up for a week, then on my back flat for a week before I could sleep on my sides. Whhoohhooo I was so happy when I could finally get comfy to sleep! Congrats on the surgery and best wishes for a speedy recovery -
Does the sleeve make you do #2 more?
joatsaint replied to christy38's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
In my case, I am going about half as much. Since I'm taking in less than half of the food I used to eat, it only follows that I'd be going less. Although it does make for some anxiety moments on the scale. I won't lose weight for a day or two and think I'm in a stall. Then I'll go to the bathroom and POOF! I'm down a pound and the weight loss resumes.
