    Heartburn

I had my consultation with surgeon, Psychologist and dietitian today. I was 100% decided about getting the Sleeve based on research related to my chronic disease and ghrelin. Now that I am home from consult I have all kinds of new questions. I am now just slightly concerned about the heartburn issue. I get mild to moderate heartburn 1-2 times in a 2-3 week period. Have any of you had mild/moderate heartburn before surgery and gone ahead and done it anyway and then been fine?

    Back Pain

I didn't think I was doing alot but may be. My mother gave me a flexerill. Going to see if a muscle relaxer will help. I know I'm only a week out but dang, I need at least one hour straight not asleep pain relief.

    Morning Dread..

My NUT said that Multi-vitamins are not effective unless you take them with food. Therefore, I take one of my Bariatric multi-vitamins with breakfast and with dinner. I take them usually when I am half-way through each meal. I've not had any problems. I take my Iron at lunch with my food too. The other vitamins I take are Biotin (because there's only 25% in my multi-vitamin), Vitamin D, and my PPI. I take all of these during breakfast too. I have always found that my vitamins go down better with my food. I have two others that I haven't added in yet because they are so large - Fish Oil and Evening Primrose Oil (for hot flashes). I'm four weeks out so I'm going to wait a week or more before I try to get those down.

    Morning Dread..

I take my Vitamins throughout the day. I have three chewable multi and 2 Calcium chews (love them!) and a weekly b-12. I take the multi-vitamins with my meals and the calcium in between. Sounds like you take a lot., Why so many and all at once?
  5. So I attempted to go out w friend yesterday and the few places we went I didn't see any options. I'm 3 weeks out and still have to eat mushy- but sick of yogurt and not huge on meat. So I got all snappy and ready to cry because for the first time since surgery realized the struggle this is going to be... any food ideas or websites?
  6. Ok start out I wave sleeved 3 months ago and the first 7 weeks were great. I had some pain for the first week but it was controllable. I had no problems advancing my diet as directed. I felt great. Then 5 weeks ago I started with my first bout of nausea and vomiting. Lost a couple of days of work. Then it happened again. And again. I am now on my fourth time of this happening. This time I ended up in the ER for dehydration. I made appoint of going to the hospital that I had my surgery at and the ER Dr had one of the surgeons come and examine me. They didn't find anything, but sent me home with zofran (life and sanity saver). I have an appointment with my surgeon tomorrow. I am just feeling sorry for myself because i wanted this to be healthier and at the moment i am worse off than before the surgery. I am confident that things are going to get better. I have always been a glass half full kind of person, but feeling like crap all of the time and the fear of loosing my job because of this is getting me down.
  7. I am in the same boat. My hair fell out after I had my daughter who is now 8 yrs old. Now my hair is very thin. I am scared to death about hair loss, as I might become bald if I lose more after the surgery. This is the only thing holding me back from having the surgery. I started taking b complex and biotin 2 weeks ago to try to counter act the hair loss from surgery. I am most likely going to be sleeved in September.

    Slipped Band???

i had a bad pain, charlie horse on my left side after surgery for weeks after surgery. the nurse said it was common, something to do with when your on the table and how they position you. and i also got strange pains in my upper back. but they are going away now, i read sometimes the band hits nerves and that will cause pain. i'm curious to know, how the doc could tell if the band did slip. do they do an exray?

    band tight today

andielmt, We are like DITTO of eachother. I was banded on 11/19/07 too!! I was down 21 pounds by Christmas. I've lost 38 pounds, my stomach feels achey about an hour after I eat. I too can feel my band. My tummy just hurts sometimes. Not even after eating and it is NOT my port. It hurts at all times of the day. It doesn't seem to have a reason. I feel tight when I'm REALLY stressed out. I did my taxes last weekend and I got myself so worked up I gagged on two bites of chicken, it got stuck then I slimed in the toilet. I haven't PBed yet. I didn't notice any difference after my first fill on January 11th. I'm having a second one tomorrow. I was noticing I can eat more and more and I'm also at a plateau of sorts. 1 pound a week is a little slow.
  12. i had my fill one week ago and didnt feel to much restiction but today it was good. i still ate a little to much though. i went to exercise tonight and i was so tight i thought i was going to explode. i will try tomorrow to even eat less and maybe i wont be so uncomfortable. nothing is getting stuck at this point. i kind of wish things would get stuck because in the beginning it was like that and i was more cautious of how fast i ate and how much. now ive slipped on both things. andrea
  13. :rolleyes2: Today is my 3 months Bandiversary. I was banded 3 months ago on Sugust 11, 2010. I feel great and i have lost approximately 30 lbs since my surgery and 52 lbs including my prop diet. I have a fill appointment on the 15th, not sure if i need it, but i am losing slow but it is working for me! Happy Bandiversary to all the fellow bandsters who are celebrating 3 mos this week and next week! I hope everyone is having sucess with their bands! If not please, please hand in there, you can do it!!!!
  14. I'm a Newbie to the Group.. 4 Days Post - Op Surgery I wanted to thank everyone for being so gracious with their wealth of knowledge and it's amazing how I've been able to read something that has been beneficial to me,regardless of the topic. I am a single woman with no children and when my Mom found out about my surgery she came to support me for the first 2 weeks post surgery...Here's my question..how many people had someone to help them during this period and did it help with your recovery or are you one of those people that wanted to be left alone to figure it out on your own. My only concern at this point is the lack of a bowel movement since the day prior to surgery and my difficulty with getting the amount of Protein and fluids in daily.. Thanks in advance for any advice that is given. DallasSmile

    Banded This Morning!

Congrats on the life change!!! I got banded last week and am now on pureed food...the only hungry days I had was day 5 and 6. But I guess it all depends on what your doctor and dietitian recommend for you on your post-op diet. I am amazed reading the various differences given. But good luck!

I was on Protonix for quite some time, but right now am on the Prevacid chewable for 6 weeks. Protonix seemed to work well for me.
  17. What is everyone eating? I'm lucky to reach protein and not enough water intake. I've been try a 4oz Greek yogurt for breakfast, then soup or some 1/2 wrap and finally chicken for dinner. I'm not hungry or thirsty.... Looking for help.

    Pregnancy

I have several friends that have had very successful pregnancies and healthy births after surgery! One has even had two since her sleeve surgery (she was sleeved in 2011 - baby #1 was 2013 and baby #2 was just born last week )
  19. Wondering how many people had a safe normal pregnancy after surgery. I know I have to wait a year to get pregnant, but it still makes me nervous. My little guy is 1 and a half so I'm not by any means in a rush lol! Just want to know what it's like for sleevers!! I drank probably 3 gallons of milk a week and ate cereal at 3am almost every night while pregnant with my first.... That's what my body craved!! Now I know I won't be able to do THAT the next time around!!

    Sacramento?

I'm working with Dr. Ali at UCD and I'm wondering if anyone else did the same. I am going to have my surgery in about 3 weeks, if all goes well. I'm just curious about your experience and what I can expect after. Thanks!

Hit the 100 pound mark today!

Thanks! Been doing cardio for a while now. I’m starting weights next week.
  23. I just got my surgery time, and I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 tomorrow morning. They said if it goes perfectly I might get out Wednesday, but I'm hoping to get out Thursday because it's supposed to snow on Wednesday and my niece is already uncomfortable driving around Baltimore. Nervous, but a lot less nervous than I was last week. My youngest brother had a heart attack and got diagnosed with CHF over the weekend. He's 17 years older, but still not old, and I always looked at him like he was Superman. Seeing him in the condition he was in really made me think hard about making some lifestyle changes before it's too late. He's probably never going to be 100% again and it's heartbreaking. I did have a good moment today, though. My doc only requires liquids for one day pre-op and today's that day. I went to lunch with my team and drank my shake and ate my Jello and wasn't even tempted one bit. Of course, it helps that it was an oyster house and we were sitting right in front of the bar full of raw shellfish. I'm not so into that, lol.
