Sleeve to Bypass for GERD
Dogmom68 replied to Keona1323's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had a full RNY revision from VSG due to reflux and a hiatal hernia and it really helped me! I wish I had just had the RNY from the start. So happy I had the revision! -

A similar stomach revision is called a StomaphyX. There are several that make the stoma between the stomach and small intestine smaller. -
Waking up with INCREDIBLY dry mouth after surgery
ijgetsfit replied to Mhy12784's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is interesting, I had a revision from lap band to RNY on December 6, 2017 and I am waking up the same way. I hadn’t thought nothing about it. [emoji102] -
Hi! I was sleeved in 2012. I never made it to goal, and put on weight thanks to a medication that makes me hungry all day, slows down my metabolism, and messes with my hypothyroidism. I've seen you post on other threads, and was wondering, what doctor did you finally decide to go with Band07? I'm seriously considering going with a revision soon. Any info on specific doctors you found would be great. Thanks!

Thought I would check in now that I am functioning. I had my surgery last Wednesday. Was in the hospital for six days. Because of other medical problems they used NO paralytics. I had a revision from a Nissan. I feel like I am doing GREAT. Not really needing pain medicine now. Hate cruising my pills and taking them it is so gross. Have my fist follow up appt tomorrow. I gained twenty pounds upon release. That IS a lot of fluid to retain. It is taking its sweet time leaving the system. If I rested more maybe that would help it leave. For the first six days I thought I had made the biggest mistake. Over that hump and feel I made the right choice. Thanks for letting me ramble.

Hi I had band to MGB revision four weeks ago my Bmi was 34 I am 23lbs down this month. I wanted the sleeve initially (massive slip with my band) but was persuaded to have mgb because often when our bodies are used to low calories as you have had a lapband and a sleeve we need the extra help to reset the body to lose, also I had major reflux from my band.

Lap band to gastric bypass revision info
Stacylynn1982 replied to Stacylynn1982's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Usernamtaken and heatherg0907 we all have similar stories. I am waiting on my insurance decision for the revision. I can't eat real food most days and this band has been more of a hassle than help. My last surgeon stopped using the band. My last appointment he called in nurses to see what the needle looked like for a fill. My new surgeon is now concerned with a slip and erosion. I am grateful for all the support in this forum Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I too am scared of losing too much weight with a revision. I had the sleeve done in 2014. I'm 5'4" and my lowest was 102. After 3 years I hit my happy spot of 115. I've stayed there for the last 6 years. I'm intentionally gaining now for fear of going too low. I'm at 125 right now and do not yet have a date. I've already had EGD and upper GI series. I just had my manometry done on the 20th and my pH with Bravo is on the 29th. He will submit to insurance after that. I'm really really scared and wish there was another option besides bypass but the 3 doctors I've seen say bypass is my only option. I'm glad to see you're doing well, and hope that I do too, but I sure am scared.

Sleeve to RNY
SleeveToBypass2023 replied to MissRI's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I'm going to be getting my revision sometime in July. My surgeon said that with the revision, expect to lose about 40-45% of the weight you would have lost if it was your original surgery. So he said I could expect to lose about 60-65 pounds in a year for my current weight and BMI. I lost 116 pounds in a year with the sleeve, so if I can lose another 65 pounds in a year with my revision, I'll be ecstatic. I'm really good at watching my diet and working out, so I think my "dream goal" is to lose 75 pounds in a year with the revision, but my "realistic goal" is the 60-65 in a year. We'll see. I would be lower than I am now if I hadn't run into so many complications and health issues. But this revision is going to get me back to living my life so I can refocus on my health and weight loss. -
Surgery Day! and beyond: Part 2
SorryNameTaken replied to mousecat88's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Girl, yay! I am so excited for you. I'm glad your pain is so well managed. I had a drain after my revision to bypass and I hated every second of it, so more power to you for dealing with four of them. Can't wait to see the end result, especially the dragon tattoo! -
Anyone wanna cheer me up?
kcuster83 replied to ryan_86's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I didn't have a revision, (virgin bypass here) but I had the same concerns pre-op. I was worried about never being able to eat a piece of steak again.. or becoming lactose intolerant. I LOVE DAIRY! Long story short, none of it happened. I can eat anything I want, never dumped or maybe once but so mild I am still not even sure if that's what it was. By about 5-6 months, I was pretty much perfectly back to "normal" other than the restriction and eating WAY less than my normal pre-op self. I never had a problem getting my fluids or hitting protein goals. You got this! Don't worry. I know everyone is different but keep in mind, negative travels faster than positive! So it seems like you hear about more negative things but in reality it is just how word of mouth travels. Best of luck to you! -
Revision... distillization of rny
gabbykittyvsg replied to Nifer72's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
This past Tuesday I had my revision, sleeve to bypass. During the leak test we discovered I have very slow motility of my esophagus. My surgeon thinks this will correct itself as things from my revision heals. -
Revision... distillization of rny

I'm just curious - can I ask what: Revision... distillization of rny is? -
Had my consult with the bariatric surgeon. He said that sleeve or bypass are both possible after esg. Sleeve would depend on the anatomy of the stomach and could only be done if the stomach had dilated or stretched a lot since esg. He did also add that if the esg did not work for me then a sleeve may also not be as effective. The only way to see what would be best is to do a gastroscope and decide after this. He did say that as this is considered revision surgery, a leak from a sleeve or bypass would be higher risk and that his preference is most likely a bypass but would wait until after a scope to further discuss this with me and decide. As for now, I have lost 15kg in 2019. Hoping not to need surgery but glad to have a plan to move forward if I do. Mel xx

5’7” 226 BMI 35 anyone similar? December ‘17 surgery
SIPS in Seattle replied to Ladycop2070's topic in Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty Forum
Thank you! The time will go by super fast, before you know it you’ll be at 3 months. I feel like I’m a rather slow loser which is usually the case as a revision vs a first time wls patient. But as long as it’s still coming off it then it’s all good. Good luck to you, I’m sure you’ll hit 180-190 in no time [emoji4] -
RNY to RNY revision.
Sunnyway replied to ShannonCorbin's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I also will be having RNY revision very soon, but my original RNY was done 30 years ago. Over 10 years I regained all I had lost. Both my pouch and anastomasis stretched. We won't lose as much following revision, but It will get us closer to "normal" BMI. There has been much progress in the technique and protocol since even 2010 so I'm optimistic. -
Modified Duodenal Switch
ChunkCat replied to Lara in Arkansas's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
Yes, the SADI-S and SADI are the same procedure! When you are converting from a gastric sleeve you can either convert to bypass, convert to SADI, or convert to a Duodenal Switch. All 3 impact the small intestines, they vary by degrees of malabsorption. SADI is in the middle of the 3 in terms of malabsorption and doesn't require changing the stomach like the bypass would. They'd just be going in to do the small intestine component. It's a great option for a revision. -
technically a 13 year vet, but the system only let me on the vets forum recently because of my revision date. almost a year in maintenance post revision, so only check in once in a while.

Should I have the surgery?
SleeveToBypass2023 replied to GreatHope's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It's absolutely your choice. But for me, it was a no brainer. I tried everything there was to try, more than once. My health was terrible. I knew I couldn't do it myself, and I knew I wouldn't be here for my kids and granddaughter if I kept going the way I was going. And even though I had some complications with my initial surgery and had to have a revision, I still feel having bariatric surgery was the best decision I have ever made. My only regret is not doing it sooner. -
How did you choose your doctor?
tryinagain2day replied to semausmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
First want to say that people who have the band can share some of their experiences- good and bad. The band was not good for me but great for my dad. I think it's great to understand ALL options when gong in for a surgery. I went in with blinders as I didn't want anything that was going to change my insides and many say the same. There are plus and minuses from all surgeries and really need to be aware of options that's why they are there. By the way- I was handed 2012 lost 25 lbs gained back 3 times that amount and now revised to sleeve 5 days ago. Whatever a person decides on they should view and understand ALL. -
me, I did the removal/revision in one procedure. Mine was smooth sailing in and out in 90 minutes. My doctor has done hundreds of revisions. you want a doctor with experience, because some people end up with adhesions between the band and their organs and you want a doctor who has seen it and and knows how to deal with it. you don't want to be the first. . Yes there are greater risks with a revision depending on how much damage the band has done. the sooner you get it out, the better.

29Feb - losingjusme's plastics day
StephC replied to losingjusme's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Thanks LJM - that answered alot of my questions! Whew! I can totally do 1/2 days at just about anytime. I don't actually have a "boss" so as long as I get my work done no one cares how much I'm here. I guess I should fill you all in. I went to ps 2/25 - they submitted all the paper work to ins. co the 28th, I called my ins co this morning and they received everything on Monday 3/3 - they said normally they have an answer within 24 hrs but it could take up to a week. So I should know if I'm approved by next week. Then my fingers will be crossed as to when the doctor can do the surgery. I work at a golf course in PA so typically I go back to work full time April 1st (Nov - Mar I collect partial unemployment and work about 10 hrs a week so ideally it would have been great to have had it then). I feel like I need to get this done NOW otherwise I'll probably have to wait until Nov. to get the time off. Even if I get it done in April it shouldn't be too much of a problem taking one week and then 1/2 days, but by May theres no way I can do it, I'm the only office person and I am swamped during the season. Everyone say a prayer for me. I dont' know if I'm expecting too much out of the surgeon by hoping he could do it so soon. But I'm hoping he is excited about it since I'm his first lapbander, he is actually consulting with my dr about everything. I'm even the going to be the first in my support group to get it done, so maybe he is thinking I'll be good advertising. Oh another question for anyone who has had the tt - does it effect the port? I know its attached to the muscle and didn't know if it will protrude more or have to be revised. Thanks again! -
I have beef and pork rarely because I have to crave them to eat them. They seem to sit well most of the time but I have “off” days with foods every once in a while. Chicken has been my biggest issue after my RNY revision but I’m slowly able to eat it now that I’m 9 months out from it.
