    Sleeved on 4/28

Thanks everyone & hello fellow 4/28 sleevers out there. Yes I am doing fine otherwise. I do get full on water alone which is kind of frustrating because before the sleeve I drank at least 80 oz. of water a day. I always had a 32 oz. water bottle with me. Now I feel like my mouth is constantly dry and when I try to drink I can't get more than 1.5 to 2oz. in before my stomach starts feeling wierd. I actually prefer water to any other fluids, I just wish I could drink more. I even started sucking on ice chips since the hospital to help quinch the dry mouth which provides about 10 seconds of relief before I get the dry mouth again. This morning my nurse told me since stomach is swollen it may be the reason why I can't drink as much so guess I will have to just wait it out...unfortunately. Thanks again for all the great suggestions! I will keep everyone posted. :tongue_smilie:

Has anyone done any type of detox at all since WLS?

Well I'm going for it. I will start my 10 day liver cleanse next Monday. We shall see how it goes. I'll be doing it with a friend through our chiropractors office. I'm hoping to rid my body of all the toxic medicine load my body has endured for years and hopefully will gain some good energy. Results to follow

    Losing my mind?

I'm just a little over a week away from surgery and things are beginning to get nutso around here. PMS has started a few days early, I have a group project for grad school to work on that I have no clue how to even get started, and I'm trying to prepare lesson plans for 7 days for a substitute teacher. I want to cry over everything. If a sad commercial comes on tv, I'm guaranteed to cry. If I get frustrated with the school assignment I want to cry. If I read something even remotely sad, I cry. If there's a sad story on the news, I cry. It's never been this bad before and I'm sure that alot of it is my mind trying to come to grips with what is about to happen. I can't have chocolate right now which is my food of choice for dealing with PMS. What can I do????? I can't go 10 days like this but I can't blow my pre-op diet either. HELP! Audra

Calories, diabetes, and a clueless doc

I think you are correct re the diabetes information. I would guess your numbers may increase some as you have some carbs once you are months out but I would guess not to the point of going back on meds. I was at 300-400 calories the first month and worked up to 500-600 and stayed at that level until month 6. Then I was only 10 pounds form my goal and worried about losing too quickly (I know that sounds insane right!!) so I purposely increased calories about 100/week to hit around 1000. I worked up towards 1200-1400 around the 10 month mark and now at almost 2 years am around 1500/1600 to maintain. Honestly that seems a little high compared to what others on here say but it keeps me at my comfortable weight. According to the BMi chart I could lose another 10 pounds but I feel like it would make me look too thin and bony ( also crazy to think that would ever be a thought re. my body). If I see my weight trending up 2-3 then I set a goal of 1200 (but usually log around 1300-1400) and that will get me down those 2 pounds within 1-2 weeks. I do think that wont be as easy in another 6-12 months as I am out of the honeymoon phase so I keep logging food/calories religiously. If I see I am low on protein its just a matter of fact thinking ok go get a piece of cheese or drink a glass of milk vs old me would get crackers or chips at the end of the day.

    Slow (maybe sore?) Loser

most people see the biggest drops during the first month or two after surgery. After that, it does slow down to about 2-3 lbs a week (maybe a bit higher for those with a higher starting BMI). So your rate of loss is pretty normal. I'm not sure where you started, but I was well over 300 lbs. I lost 16 lbs the first month, and then 10-12 lbs a month for the next six months or so. Then it dropped down to about 6-8 lbs a month....and gradually went down from there (by the end, it was like two lbs a month - UGH!). As long as you're trending down, you're good! and to reiterate, yes, your rate of loss is completely normal. Just follow your plan. If you cut back too much from your plan, you risk getting sick or having deficiencies. So I would not worry about "moving the needle faster". Massive weight loss is a marathon, not a sprint, as they say...
  9. Your weight can change depending on a number of factors, water intake, elimination, stress, cycle. Yesturday for an experiment I weighted my self almost hourly. I started day with 197.3- had coffee used bathroom-196.5,litter later up to 198, before lunch it was 194,after it was195.4 Afternoon-3pm it was 190.5( I took a photo of scale for that one!) which was really weird usually less in morning -by bedtime it was 196.5, this morning 194. That was 24 hours and the change range was 8 pounds! Don't stress. Overall today's weight is 5 pounds lower than last Thrusday weight in . So I lost 5. Even though I saw 190 briefly - which would have ment 10 pounds. It didn't stick. Now I crazy cause I saw it and want it back!! Ii put the scale away this morning( in my car) so I won't be tempted to pull out of closet. I sure I will meet by friend 190 again probably in another week. Usually the low numbers that I see and then go get my husband to show him - they are gone on when I next step on scale. - come back within a week to stay. Good luck. FYI I went up and down with in 4 pounds the last month- just got fill last week so we are going down again. Hang in there. Don't stress -
  10. First day home had my surgery tues 11/19/13 feeling good took a shower wen I got home that made a big dfference yelled at my teenagers to clean up started my period last night I read bout that an new was going to happen to me lol
  11. My son was not quite a year old when I had surgery. I had surgery on Friday and my husband cared for him over the weekend. My surgeon said I was fine to lift him by Monday and I also went back to work on Monday so sugery was pretty easy for me. I just couldn't let him bounce around on my stomach (he is pretty active). I didn't have any nasuea but they gave me something to make sure i didn't . The only thing I regret is not doing it years sooner! Best thing I ever did, I've lost 65lbs in 10months. I went from tight 18 to a comfortable 10. I hope to be at my goal by my one year anniversary date. I eat whatever I want and I never exercise so I'm thrilled with my progress.
  12. So I had my first fill about 3 1/2 weeks ago. I initially lost 10 lbs quite quickly and then a couple more, all inside of about 2 and a bit weeks. When I wake up I always have 1 cup of coffee, then right up to about 2 or 3 in the afternoon I'm not really comfortable with much (I feel quite a bit of restriction) I usually opt for yogurt and berries or cereal, something that goes down easy. But by about 4-5 I start to get really hungry. I can eat a full plate of food( alot more than a cup). But way less than before I was banded. But I seem to be hungry right up to bedtime and can eat just about anything. So does anyone know whether I need a fill or not? Why am I SO restricted for half the day and NOT the other? If I call my surgeon, they'll just see that I'm down in weight and may not give me one, even though it happened within the first couple of weeks, any suggestions out there would be of great help!! Thank - you:)
  13. I did have a situation yesterday that I want to share. Mostly to get out of my system...It happend with Mar**, a coworker, here at ***. I mentioned early in the week that I tried on a size 4 and I was able to get into it but that was all I said. Another co worker, Ci**, said it was great and she was happy for me. Well, yesterday when I was leaving it was VERY windy outside and as I was leaving Mar** said "dont blow away" and I laughed and said yeah, YOU don't blow away. She is very tiny and about 120-125 pounds. and she said snidely "well, you must weigh less than me if you fit in a size 4!" and walked into her office! I stood at the door and said I weight 141 pounds and no one said anything so I walked out. On my drive home I started thinking that wasn't a nice thing for her to say. It was as though she didn't believe that I could fit in a size 4. Then I thought I am probably 3-4 inches taller than her and I try on clothes all the time where she wears her husbands cloths and NEVER buys new clothing so how would she know what size she truly wears. The only new clothes she gets are things her husband will buy her online and probably in a size she probably wore 10 years ago! so I am mad. I am mad that my co-workers are not happy but jealous and bitter that I look better than they do and that I do want to wear nicer things and better clothing than I ever have. It's my right for doing so well. Damn it I walk six days a week and I watch what I eat and I want to lift weight to tone up and I think it's wonderful that I have accomplished what I have! so there I'm done venting and I am over it!!! FU Mar**!
  14. I started at a tight 18, am now wearing 12s and could fit into some 10s. And I have only lost 37 pounds. I don't know what is going on here but I like it. I also have been tracking my body fat and have gone from 44% down to 37%. You may be in those jeans quicker than you think. I have saved jeans through the years and all but 2 pair fit me now. The problem is I don't like the styles anymore!! When I fit into the smallest pair, I will know its time to stop. Celeste

    Hey guys I’m new here

Hey girl! I'm not as young as you, but I too am coming up on finishing my appointments (last one is 8/10 and endoscopy is next Friday). I an VERY nervous about surgery but I am more excited so I try to focus on that; my anxiety is through the roof with this but I am glad I have decided to go through it. My anticipated surgery date is sometime in late August or September sometime.

    new bander

Hi all, I received my band on the 4th of July with Dr. Aceves. I am feeling well so far. I do have the left shoulder and back pain but hopefully that will go away. I have lost 10 pounds to date. It is amazing the amount of support that I see here. I look forward to being a part of that!
  17. Tomorrow will be one week out. I a doing 1 week clear, 1 week full fluids, 1 week puree, then soft... My concern is I have been sipping sipping sipping. Today I got a medium wawa chicken noodle. They just gave me broth. I ate the whole thing in like 10-15 minutes. I measured it to be around 8-9 oz. Should that have gone in so easily? I didnt feel like I was overful or anything. No issues at all. Does Fluid just go in easy after a week? I guess im concerned with the amount. Seems too much to me but again...no discomfort at all. At 5:30 I had 6 oz of broth and 2 popsickles that are 20z each then 4 oz of protien drink. I did feel full but no discomfortAll within an hour? Do I just have a bigger stomach or do fluids go right through? Tanks! OH BTW!! HI!!! LOL. Been reading, I had a band to sleeve revision. Had band in July 2008 and lost 115 pounds roughly. Went from 350 to 235. Gained and lost a bit here and there with band the last year amd was hovering around 245-250. Decided to get sleeve. Lots of reasons....hated band. February 2011 band came off but because of scar tissue was not sleeved. Sleeved last Thursday at 260lbs. Down to 250.

    The cost of a Fill

Im paying $200 each, and driving 5 hours round trip to get this price. So far I only got one fill and it was so tiny, waste of time and money. 1.8 cc and Iv got a 10 cc band. Nothing like feeling like Im throwing money out the window.

    The cost of a Fill

I live in southern CA. Surgery was covered under one insurance, but since changing jobs have a different insurance. I have paid $250 for 0.2cc cash in Pasadena. Now I have to decide if I want to have my fills in San Diego for $10 and drive the distance or continue to pay the $250 and continue with my surgeon, who I think is terrific!

    PCOS diagnosis

I have PCOS and plan I go back soon to see if I have changed at all since getting my band. I do have some diff occurrences with bacterial infections now that I don't eat as much so I am ready for those to go away!! My cycles have been consistent. Banded 12/19/12 Wt @ surg 264 Current wt 224
  21. I am right behind you, I had my surgery April 27th. I am so obsessed with the scale. In December I was 265 and am down to 234. So everyday since I've been home I've dragged out my 20 yr old Health-O-Meter and stepped on looking for miracles. The first week after surgery I was getting on 2 times a day.. Woo Hoo, losing every-time. However in the past 3 days I have not only not lost anything but much to my horror, I gained 2lbs. God only knows how that is possible when practically nothing is going in. The good news though is that today it is gone again. I really have to make an effort to stay off that beast. Not only does it weigh 10 lbs and is a major pain the ass to drag out, but it's not doing anything for my mental health. I am driving myself crazy. I have decided that I'm only going to get on once a day. Wish me Luck

    Longest Stall Contest

I'm almost 3 months out and just broke my 19 day stall. My god if I had a 4 month stall I would seriously lose my mind but at least now I know if it does happen I'm not the only one.

    My first fill

Today's first fill/adjustment appointment went well. I laid down on this table and the doctor injected a numbing agent. That stung a wee bit but not bad. He inserted something - maybe a needle(?) and then made that table vertical so that I would be standing. I drank some of the white liquid and he filled me completely so it was just sitting there above the band; eww! I felt like I had bad heartburn! Then he opened it up to watch the liquid go through. We did that routine a couple times and I also drank some water. He took whatever it was out and I got some gauze and a band-aid. Tada, bye bye. It was maybe 10-15 minutes. For lunch, I had a protein shake, half of this small pudding cup, and half of a cranberry juice and was FULL. Whew! I can definitely tell I'm adjusted now!!!

NSV - Normal size clothes - whoopeeee!!!

I actually started a day early, so that means I am in liquid diet hell right now! hee hee hee! It's going better than I thought so hopefully the next 11 days fly by! I can hardly believe that all this time has passed and it's my turn now it's kinda weird but in a good way! I already got my magic bullett working (slim fast with added Protein powder is my drink of choice!) and it's been great! Did you lose any weight on the pre-op diet? I am hoping to lose about 10-12 lbs.
