I've been stalled a month! Please help.

It is entirely possible that you may not be eating enough, especially if you are exercising regularly. 800 calories seems really low this far after surgery. What does your NUT advise? Embrace the Stall! http://BariatricPal.com/index.php?/topic/351046-Embrace-the-Stall -
My story 1yr and 3 months later
Craftlady77 replied to lovebug_0766's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congratulations - that is great - I had my lap-band on May 30, 2014 - 9 months ago - I did very well at first and lost 65 lbs - I started at 267 - Then we moved into an assisted living situation where we have three meals a day - I am no longer "captain of my own ship" and try as I may - I have started to gain a little. We are changing our living conditions and again moving back into our own apartment and I will be doing all our cooking again - I can't wait - I am just hoping that I can get back into the motivated groove again - I so want to lose the rest of the weight!! Did you hit bad spots like this? -
Severe nausea/can't drink anything 1 week post op
Coloradobri posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am one week post op and for the past few days I'm having a really hard time tolerating anything. I can't even seem to get water down without instantly feeling sick to my stomach. I haven't vomited yet but I've been close... I have been taking my nausea medicine but it's not helping. I think I maybe dehydrated? Any opinions? I feel terrible. -
Pre-surgery process; I'm so discouraged.

I am fortunate that my days off are during the week, so can get Drs App done What kind of insurance, you can get a pre-approval which seems to get them in gear a little faster cause they know you are covered. -
Anybody sleeved by Dr. Weiss in KY?
Kygirlkeshia replied to Kygirlkeshia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have another question... My approval letter came and the insurance coordinator has received it and is turning everything over to the pre op nurse. Do you all remember how long it was before she contacted you to schedule your meet with the surgeon? I'm hoping she calls this week. And also how far out did she schedule your appointment ? Was it pretty quick? Thanks -
Really Struggling with Eating Habits
uacaitlyn posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm 2 months post op. I'm losing weight as I should, right on schedule, 34 lbs. I'm working out and drinking my water. That said, I feel amazing and have started to eat like I used to in social situations (not nearly as much or as often). A chip or two here, a bite of dessert there, and this past weekend was my 30th birthday so I had a few drinks, chips and dessert. The nurse practitioner told me everyday is a new day and to start over but I've been doing this, snacking a bit and what not for a few weeks and it's become a habit. I will not regain this weight and I want to have healthy life long habits but I'm falling hard into old habits. Advice? Help? Please! -

Anybody sleeved by Dr. Weiss in KY?
PainInTheGlass replied to Kygirlkeshia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first visit to the surgeon was April 16th and I was sleeved June 3rd. I didn't have to do a 6 months supervised diet, a visit to the pulmonary doc, etc. so I had very few hoops to jump thru to get the surgery. My docs office said that once they submitted the paperwork to insurance, the insurance company would have 30 days to decide if they would cover the surgery. My insurance approval came the following day. I still had the EGD to complete, and then I scheduled surgery for 2 weeks later! -
Birth control pills before surgery

I was told to stop a month before surgery since it can cause blood clots. Then like 2 weeks after or so, I can start again -
Approval letter came today! Questions...
meglynmin posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, before I begin, I just want to say hi. I've been reading for awhile but haven't posted but one other time and I think that was last week! So I got my approval letter today! YAY! My first question, what does "date of admission/service" mean? It's listing May 28th, 2013 as the date of service. My pulmonologist appointment isn't until June 10th. Not to mention May 28th is next week! This surely can't be my surgery date, can it? It also says that I was approved for services/procedures in an Outpatient Hospital setting. Again, can anyone tell me what that means? It would be wonderful if my doctor's office was 24 hours -

Am I Hungry or Full? 4 Weeks Post Op Today.
bobaloo11 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 4 weeks post op and I've been having some stomach discomfort. I can only describe it as a gnawing feeling that you'd get when VERY hungry or if you were to take a medication that needed to be taken with food and didn't eat. I guess it's like a mild nausea. I've tried 4oz of low sugar yogurt, that didn't seem to matter either way. A few minutes later I would feel the same thing. During the day it is annoyiing but at night it's hard to get to sleep because of it. Drinking water sometimes will aggrivate it. I cant tell if I'm hungry because my stomach is always gurgling or bubbling or making some new noise. I was wondering if any of this is just normal. I have a "one month" appointment comming next week so I can ask my Dr. then but figured I'd try here first. -
Am I Hungry or Full? 4 Weeks Post Op Today.
MrsG replied to bobaloo11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same feelings of hunger all the time! I was taking protonix and my stomach would still grumble. I would eat every few hours, all Protein to try to fill me up and last longer. I have to say now at 10 weeks out the hunger pains have lessened quite a bit. In the last few weeks I eat and I'm not even hungry. I know lots of ppl didnt feel hunger for the first few months, but I was the opposite. I know they make other proton inhibitors, maybe trying a different one would help? I'm not sure but for me it was just a waiting thing and it got better over time. -

Anyone else? Pre-op diet starts this Thursday! I am so nervous and excited! I have three boys (7,5, 10 months) and I'm most scared of a surgical complication. I am looking to lose around 150 pounds. I'm 6'0 tall and have always carried a lot of hidden weight. In 2009-2010 I lost over 100 pounds on my own, but I have gained a little more than half back. So ready to get it off and keep it off! -

Oh My Goodness, Only a couple weeks to go!
annettexx replied to fefebutterfly's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi there My name is annette. I have only 4 days to go , and like you im pretty worried about the surgery too, I think this is probably normal. Im worried about the whole hospital stay and yes also about the life changes afterwards, I will certainly answer any questions you may have after I go through my surgery , Annette Hello my fellow Bandmates, I am so excited, nervous and slightly apprehensive at this time because this is a new chapter that is about to begin in my life. I have never taken a risk my whole life that would essentially change me from the inside out. I am excited because finally I get the chance to become healthy while losing weight. I am nervous because I am scared of surgery in general and the risk associated with it. I also feel a little apprehensive because this is a significant life change and I wonder will I be successful. I went to a support group last week and many said that this is hard work, but they all felt motivated to get healthy. It also encouraged me because I know that I can do it now and that everyones weight loss is different. Dr. Enochs wants to do a Gastric Plication in combination with the LapBand which means to fold the stomach in on itself and stitch it up. Gastric Plication (LGP) as a bariatric procedure. It promises to be a method that gives weight loss results as good as sleeve gastrectomy without the risks associated with that procedure. He says that I would require a liver reduction diet two weeks prior to surgery and he wont know until he opens me whether or not he can do it. This is basically an experimental procedure that is supposed to increase weight loss so I hope it works for me. Im just asking for your prayers and advice that may help me right after I am banded. Your comments will be appreciated. Thanks-FeFeButterfly <BR class=spacer_> -
Had VSG to RNY Monday the 12th
SleeveDreamer posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well this is my journey from Monday the 12th. Went in for hiatial hernia repair and RNY because my acid was totally out of contol. When the anesthesiologist inserted his tube, it was discovered that I had a very thin area of scar tissue that was completely iniulated from my severe acid. So my wonderful surgeon had to repair that first before he could do the bypass. Because of this it wasn't necessart for him to do the hiatial hernia repair. So the bypass part went as planned. Because of this repair, I could not start liquids on Tuesday. I had to have an upper gi xray to make sure there was no leak. There wasn't, but he still wanted to be extra cautious because of the delicate repair. So I was only allowed ice swabs all day Tuesday and was on IV. Yesterday, Wednesday, I was finally allowed ice chips, but still on IV. Today, Thursday, I am still on IV, but was allowed broth. I am not having any problems with the broth, so I may be able to go home tomorrow. I live 50 miles away, so like I said he is being cautious. Originally, I was to start liquids Tuesday through next Monday, adding protein drinks tomorrow. Of course that's when I was supposed to go home today. So now I will be on the clear liquids longer and probably not add protein til mid week. Otherwise, I feel great. I have never had any pain or needed to take pain meds. I am up walking four times a day with no problem. I do have a drain this time too, and that will be until my post op next Thursday. I have never been nauseated. I am just glad I have an excellent surgeon who saved my life agin. If this would have gone unnoticed, it most likely would hav ruptured and I would be in deep doo doo with infection throughout my entire body. I will update tomorrow! Wish I would have gone this route rather than VSG 5 1/2 years ago! -
I'm in day 4 of post op. Haven't felt hungry yet but this 2 weeks on 2 oz of slim fast per meal seems rough. Port site is a little swollen but not hurting. I have little energy but what can you expect on about 200 cal/day diet. Have lost 7 lbs since being band.:whoo:

I am three weeks post op and I just started noticing that my skin is flaking off, especially on my stomach. My arms and legs are incredibly dry as well. Does anyone else have this similar problem with their skin?

Well guys and gals, it's Thursday evening. I was sleeved on Monday . Whew, what a week. I spent three nights in the hospital. I was/am surprised it to that long for me to get up and running, (not literally). Not the norm, my nurses said they didn't recall anyone else staying that long. But at the same time were careful not to make me feel rushed. I had a tough time of it. A lot a pain, unable to get fluids down, nausea, nausea and more nausea. Had trouble tolerated the pain Meds but thanks to one of my amazing nurses that was quickly remedied, by a call to the dr. For an alternative . Still having gas issues, not sure how long that'll last, forgot to ask the doctor about that one. At this point the only way I can really get my fluids down is to take them while standing then just walk it off a little. I am tender but not in any real degree of pain. Except if I burp, YUCK I hate how that feels. Earlier in the week I found myself asking "oh no, what did I do to myself" but at this point I'm glad I went through with it. Looking forward to things about to come.
