all im saying is if he is gonna cheat to do it now and get it over to have that 1 thing and be done with it while he still has the next few days to do the pre-op diet properly. slot of surgeons only require 3-4 days of the liquid diet anyway. as hard as its been i havent cheated on my pre-op diet. im at work sipping on a protein shake thats part of my diet. one of my co-workers just walked in the room with pizza. i told her id kick her skinny butt if she didnt hurry up and get it away from me. lol

You cannot know how many calories unless you weigh or measure. A scale, a few measuring cups are all you need. I type in "calories and chicken" in an online search and boom it comes up and I write it down. Are you tracking your Protein as well? Do the same thing, type in "protein in chicken" on a search and write it down. The more you weigh and measure the better you'll be later at recognizing normal portions. I never measure any green veggies ( except peas) becasue nobody ever got too fat eating too many green Beans. ( ok unless you add bacon or something) but you see the point.

Need Protein Recommendations

I have found that I can tolerate my shakes now for one reason...I make them with egg whites instead of water or milk. I just like them better. I do not just crack eggs into the blender...I buy egg whites that are pasteurized so there's no salmonella issues. And they don't taste like anything but they make the shakes so smooth, no sliminess and the protein dissolves into the whites so nicely. It's just my little trick. -
DO NOT WORRY! I had no restriction in the beginning either. You may not begin to lose weight until after several fills (depending on how much they fill you at a time). I was hungry that first month too. Frankly, I ate. Dont eat the twix bars though. Eat liquid food. Drink the protein shake. I assume they gave you some. If you drink enough protein you will feel better. Have some cream soup. Try some cottage cheese. I promise you will feel better if you drink enough protein drink. Do not expect to lose all your weight right away. It takes time. The process is slow. Do not worry if you do not lose any weight at all in the beginning or even if you gain a few pounds. There will be time enough for losing when you heal from the surgury.

I'm with Kiz on this one. I would think drinking water soon after your protein shake or carnation instant breakfast would simply wash it completely down before you ever get a chance to feel full.

I think I am doing good on my preop diet. It's high proteins low carbs and 2 days before the surgery is liquid diet.

I'm 9 weeks out, and have already started seeing more of my scalp. I take biotin, get 60 gms of protein a day, and am planning on talking with my Dr. about zinc supplements. -

soflatechie replied to belunos's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cafe, I found that the pre op diet is not as bad as I thought. The first two days were rough but my body adjusted. Make sure you have plenty of chicken broth sugar free Popsicles and sugar free Jello. I use premier Protein and syntax nectar for shakes. Good luck. -

My doctor switched me to 5mg of D-Amphetamine/ Salt twice a day and it eliminated the energy dip completely. I’ve also tried to make sure that I am not missing my high protein snacks. So far so good. -
I noticed that I was having hair loss post-op. I was not able to keep in the shakes and still can't. Pre-op I did fine with them but, after it was like a switch was flipped. Since I have been out of the hospital about the last week and have been able to eat it has virtually stopped. I eat eggs (2) scrambled for breakfast. Lunch is chicken or Tuna. Dinner is crab, chicken or tuna. Before bed if I am hungry I lick on a spoon of peanut butter. From time to time I alternate with cottage cheese instead of eggs for breakfast (cholesterol reasons) or mashed potatoes (for carbs) at lunch with a few chunks of crab. I only had surgery 4 weeks ago and do find it difficult to get in all protein required. My hair loss has improved so much though. 2 1/2 weeks no protein was rough on my body. Increase protein and it should stop.

My Dr told me to start taking vitamins and supplements 10 days out. Today is my first day and I got the multivitamin down fine. I tried crushing the others and putting them in my protein drink..... Disgusting!!!!! Any suggestions?

I've been drinking protein shakes for breakfast (restricted), and meat and veges for lunch and dinner. Oddly, I miss regular old raw vegetable salads! My ideal diet for healthy would be mostly raw vegetables, garnished with meat, and raw fruits. Is anybody out there succeeding at a similar diet with the band?

Hello everyone! I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced a migraine headache after a tough work out? I've noticed the last two weeks have been tough on me. It started after I began taking harder classes like Boot camp, Body pump and Step. I've made sure I had enough Protein before the gym and I do well with my Water but I can always up the amount. Other than that I'm not sure what else I can do other than dropping the amount of classes I take a week but I really don't want to do that. I've always been prone to migraines but this is just getting ridiculous!! Any suggestions? Any advise would help. Thanks

Im so disappointed in myself. I have been craving foods that aren't good for you. Up until the last couple of days. I have been able to fight it off. But today I have eaten all day long. My food choices are not as bad as they were before WLS (most everything has protein in it). but I can't believe I have eaten so much. Today I've eaten : breakfast: Greek yogurt w/ protein granola. Snacks all day 🤦♀️ (unknown amounts) I've gone back several times for a handful of granola and bbq Pork rinds lunch 4oz of honey baked ham and 2oz of mashed potatoes supper Greek yogurt w/ protein granola I never got any restriction feeling but I am so miserable now! I know tomorrow is a new day but I worry I've gotten the taste of junk and I'll release to my old ways

I know you're looking for positive feedback but I gotta say, why go on a deprivation diet like all liquids. We all got the band so we wouldn't have to feel the pain of dieting for so long? If you're at a stall/plateau I can understand it. But, the super weight loss we all realize when we first got banded or when we went on a new diet before the band is mostly just Water weight. See the link below? http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html One of the things a lot of people do to restart their journey is the 5-Day pouch test. www.5daypouchtest.com I guess you could extend a program like this out to 2 weeks? Another is the 5:2 diet. I've ran a modified version of this diet and made it into a 4:3 diet to overcome stalls. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9Aj6hRYg4A And finally, shake, shake, shake every day for 2 weeks because you need Protein or your body turns on it's own muscle for fuel.

I'm new at this, so please be patient if I seem not-so-smart about posting, etc. I went to my first weight loss seminar in March of this year, and have been pondering it ever since. My niece and her fiance' have had the sleeve done, and are doing great, so I've been watching their journey as well. Since I've tried every weight loss gimmick and plan and have always gained the weight back, I finally decided that I needed something that would finally work. That is why I chose the sleeve. I made an appt. with the surgeon, went for all my introductory appts. at his office and finally met with him last month. My surgery is scheduled for the 14th, and I just started the pre op diet of protein drinks only on Wed. So far, so good. I wish myself and all of you pre op members the best!

Blue Diamond has many different types. I have been a huge fan of the unsweetened chocolate and the unsweetened vanilla milks. Both are great for Stage 2 and you are able to mix them with so many different types of Proteins. They help bring back some of the normal feelings while on Phase 2. Hang in there and this time will go quickly. Cheers to your recovery.

Congrats on your success so far... Contact your team that handled your surgery if possible and form a plan. Return to nutritional visit if you can, support group if available, then pull out your binder /original plan and see where you are. While at a support group a few weeks ago the topic was regain and how to manage it, these were some of the questions the NUT told everyone to pay attention to if fighting regain: How far have you drifted? What was the original weight goal (realistically)? Did you change anything to cause the weight gain? Any life changes (health, job, relationships, etc)? Can you go back to basics (protein and vegetables only to test for weight loss ) or reset for a week? What is your protein intake? What is your vegetables /fruit intake? What is your carb intake? Do you have hidden calories (too much sugars, carbs, condiments, slider foods) ? Are you drinking your calories ( juice, soda alcohol) ? What is your Water/zero cal fluid intake ? Safe journey again! Hi, I'm new to the site. I had my surgery on May 23rd and feel pretty good. Some pain at the port location which the hospital nurse told me was normal. Am still taking my pain meds for that. Pre-op diet was tough for me, but am now on third day of full liquids and am OK with it. I am having trouble drinking all the protein shakes because I feel full and they don't appeal to me. I decided not to weigh myself, but will wait until my first follow up visit with my surgeon in 9 days. Am anxious to see the results.

I Can't Stick To The 2 Week Pre-Op :)
AliciaNoelle121 replied to syrup79's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
im on day seven of pre op liquids. ive eaten three teaspoons of Peanut Butter some chicken i found in the broth pudding and one mini candy bar im not proud but it is what is is. im down 8.5lbs have 8 more to go with 9 days left. ive heard the peanut butter isnt terrible bc of hte Protein, and i feel like if i need to eat something thats where i need to go bc at least im getting protein. today i drank decaf coffee with splenda and sugar free creamora. i drank a small glass of gingerale (my stomach was extremely upset and since i couldnt do cracks i had to do something) a serving of sf lime Jello and a teaspoon of peanut butter....thats it. i cant get down Protein shakes anymore i heave when i try. i gotta figure out something for protein tonight myself. i hope this makes you feel better. honestly these all liquid diets are unrealistic when youre stomach is regular sized and you are hungry. im a band to sleeve conversion so ive been thru this before as an added bonus lol
