I think if you feel good about it, it is an NSV.
-
I did that with full fat yogurt not too long ago. That is most definitely an NSV . Congrats!

I had lost 17 pounds at 6 weeks, too. I was still 17 pounds down at 10 weeks. Now check out my ticker.... 10 pounds under goal and maintaining 2 years out. The rate at which you lose has nothing to do with your ultimate long term success. Just get in all your protein and water, stay away from simple carbs, and put the scale away for a couple weeks. Relax and Enjoy the NSVs

Those are AWESOME, AWESOME NSVs thank you very much for sharing them with us. Wow!

How are the jewels of June doing
mnbsleeve replied to A New Me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello Jewels! I'm such a dork! I had not seen this threat before! At 4/12 months out I am doing great. I've resumed my life pretty normally. It's included travel, family reunions and celebrations. I am working out and staying active. I feel well, energetic - which is good. I've had lots of stalls but I have come to accept that this is how my body seems to do things because at some point I also get these big drops. Overall, I am thrilled with my sleeve. I am right about to get out of the 190's!!!!! I am at 191 this morning!!! Maybe I can do it by the end of the month!!!! (In 5 days?!) I'll be working out extra hard this week to "help my body" along :-) Hope everyone is doing well. I love reading the progress posts, especially pics!!! I have to post some myself. I also love reading the NSV's. It so inspiring when I see people changing -- their lives really!!! Best to all of you!!! I'm sure I will "run into you" in the boards!!!!! -
Sent my skinny mini sister a text this morning saying "I'm so excited to say I'm down to 399 (what a hideous number to be excited about)..." she was so sweet and encouraging, I truly love her! But this was the first real lb lost in a few weeks. I've been pretty depressed about the scale the past couple of days, cranky even! I know the NSVs are there but I'm still just not feeling it. An a different note the Texas heat has been kind the past couple of days and I've gotten some good walking in... Woot! Everyone loves a picture and this is my current NSV... I feel like I need to point out the boob to lumpy tummy ratio... But my family was able to see with out my description

I had the same NSV. I always wear leggings because my body is curvy and i'm short so it's hard to find jeans for myself. But also, since I had gained a lot of weight, I did not want to know what size my pants actually were so I never went to go buy jeans. But since I've been losing weight, I was feeling more confident and decided to go buy a pair of jeans. I had one pair before surgery and I was a size 18. I went to Old Navy maybe 2 weeks ago and I was a size 14 (stretchy jeans but still...) lol then I saw a pair of white slacks I bought from Express a couple years ago (size 12) and I thought, let's see how these fit so I know when I might fit into a size twelve soon...they zipped up and buttoned, a little tight but they actually fit. I dropped 3 pant sizes and I'll be 3 months post op on the 14th of this month. How awesome are we?

A couple of months ago I had a lane bryant credit card, shredded it and threw it away. I was so happy to be able to shop in the "normal" sizes. That has probably been my biggest NSV. I got a catalog from Lane Bryant in the mail the other day and put it right into the recycle can, didn't even open it! Congratulations to you!

favorite NSV's/most anticipated NSV's

I've had a pannus since age 11... I have no idea what it will be like without one...It's just part of my body that I'm so used to now I can't imagine not having it.. .I actually have two sticks of deodorant.. one for my pits and one for under my roll.... TMI? perhaps, but it will be nice to downgrade to only one stick of deodorant and some point! I guess I can add that to the list of NSVs I'm looking forward to. -
favorite NSV's/most anticipated NSV's
SerendipityHappens posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm posting this in the 200 pounds forum because I know that for us, our NSV's can be very different from the run of the mill NSV's the lightweights have... so here are some NSV's from a (former)super-morbidly obese woman.... Being able to shop in ANY plus size section of any department store or chain with plus sizes (some of which carry up to 22 or 24 only) and not just the store with "extended plus sizes". *cough* Catherine's. BOOYEAH! It's awesome. But now my problem is TOO MUCH selection... I'm looking for a dress to wear to my cousin's wedding but I have too many options and can't decide! Not having EVERY SINGLE SHIRT I own have a hole/stain at the belly from where I rub up against everything. Still waiting for this one... RUINED another shirt at work yesterday :-( Being able to grab my own ankle without assistance in order to do quad stretches. It's embarrassing to have to have a stranger in your class push your leg up far enough for you to grab your ankle!.... I'm almost there but not quite.. I think my entire aerobics class is going to celebrate with me when I can stretch my own quads. Having the nasty yeasty fat lady feet problem go away. I had some sort of fungal/yeast infection thing going on on my feet for YEARS.. (ya know, that yellow chalky peeling cracking ugly old people/fatpeople feet) My right foot now looks like it belongs to a newborn baby and my left foot is ALMOST completely clear and I can wear SANDALS for the first time in a decade! Bending over to pick something off the floor without thinking about it/without dreading it. A larger lady at the store dropped a quarter the other day and I KNEW she was thinking: "is that quarter worth bending over to pick up?" UG, I remember that feeling well... I didn't even really realize what a NSV this is until being reminded what a struggle it was for me before, because now I just bend and get stuff all the time now without even thinking about it. OK so there you have it.. some of my favorite NSV's So let's hear it What NSV's made you the happiest.. or if you're just starting, what NSV's are you looking forward to? -
Kim ~ WhooHoo on the NSV!! :welldone:I don't think I've lost 2 sizes yet, but then again, I haven't been shopping. Still wearing my baggies. There seems to be a lot of us with the TOM this week. I just started yesterday and it should have been this past Sun. I was getting a bit concerned. So far, I've stayed the same. Reality is I could eat a HUGE chocolate bunny or anything chocolate for that matter. This is the hardest time for me b/c of the sweet & salt cravings I get with the TOM. chicken salad helps with the salty cravings. BTW, great job on the swimming too!! You inspire me. We joined the Y last week and the boys start swim lessons next week. I plan to work out while their swimming with the teacher. In answer to your question about calories, I am getting around 1000 daily. I was using the FitDay.com, but I was getting tired of entering new info everytime I ate a meal. I wished they had a more thorough food list. Plus with 2 little ones, I barely get my shower in let alone post everything I eat. I should make time for that though...it is important. Marci ~ :wow2: Good for you girl....keep it up!! I barely remember size 18. I WILL see it again someday soon. Also, CONGRATULATIONS on your anniversary of 27 yrs. Do I understand you correctly that your anniversary is on the 10th? We were married 7 yrs on July 10th as well. The kids & DH are recovering from strep, so we put off date night and will do it another time. Such is life with kids. Violetflame ~ Welcome to the May Bandsters Group!! You will find this a great place for support as well as the entire site of LBT!!! :welcome2:

Here I am checking in for the Challenge. I weighed in this morning at 244. I only lost 1 freakin' pound this week! I am going in for my third fill next Tuesday... let's hope it's "the one!" My clothes are all starting to fit a lot differently. I am down to a size 20 in pants and a size 1x in tops. I was in a tight 22 pants and a 3x top a mere 3 months ago so I'm definatley seeing progress. Buying a pair of jeans at Old Navy has got to be one of my best NSV's so far. My wedding ring is looser, I can take it off at night now. My shoes are looser. I fit into chairs better. I am up to a 20 minute mile with a 5% incline on the treadmill. I have been circuit training as well the past 3 weeks. I am getting to the gym at least twice a week, usually 3 times. I am drinking Water like a fiend, usually 100oz a day or so. I guess when I look at all of this the 1 pound loss isn't so bad, I am getting much healthier overall. Sparkpeople.com has been a lifesaver in helping me track my progress. Peace!

HUGE NSV for me today!!! I bought a pair of jeans at Old Navy!!! I cannot believe I can fit into size 20 jeans! OMG! I am just floating! I also bought a size 18 shirt from Lane Bryant. Size 18!!! This is so wonderful I can't even tell you how good I feel about myself right now. I actually had to buy a belt so I can wear the stuff I have now. I haven't worn a belt in years. I think I will work on cleaning out my closet tomorrow and getting rid of some fat girl clothes. Look out Ebay! Peace!

Hi All, It's been a while. I've checked in once in a while but this is actually the first time I could find a minute. Not to mention, I HAD A HUGE NSV AND A SV!!!! For the first time in 8 years, I tried something just for the hell of it....are you ready?....imagine....collar golf shirt (hanging a bit)...black pants (about an inch give in the waist)...hmm, do I dare? Tuck in the shirt in the pants and actually wear a belt!....eyes are still not looking at the mirror (afraid to see the usual belly popping out and hanging from underneath the belt)...slowly look up...AAAGGGHHH! The belly is still there, BUT, not as much and this actually looks OK to wear! I screamed! Ron thought I saw a bug on the floor or something! When he came to the room, I posed! "Wow, you look great" (I love him!). Next... OK. Fluctuated between 216 and 214 for 3 1/2 weeks. Uck! Just for grins today...I mean what the heck?...stepped on the scales...210! About darn time! YaHoo! Hope all is well with you! I think about this forum everyday and I've been inviting some friends who are considering surgery to check it out. I'm so thankful to all of you!

Fantastic NSVs, Vines! And I love Penni's message -- sealed with a kiss, I'm sure.

Vines, that is great news! Congratulations, I love those NSV's!!

That has to be one of the best NSV's I've ever heard! I love your no room for failure attitude. You're going all the way baby!

minniekitty replied to Julie76's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I like this NSV and can totally relate to it!!! I also hoped to run into an exbf of mine who sometimes gave me a hard time about my weight and how much I ate (which is odd because he had gastric bypass surgery done when he weighed almost 300 lbs). Never did, but he did see pics of me on facebook and said I looked good and congratulated me on my weight loss. Maybe someday I'll run into him and rub it in his face some more. Mwahahaahaha -

If you’re a little shy, you can make your ticker private so that only you see it. ASMBS: National Society’s Opinion on Plication You may already know that the sleeve plication, or laparoscopic greater curvature plication, is a pretty new procedure. That’s why you may have a little more trouble finding a surgeon in the U.S. or getting your insurance to cover it. That doesn’t make it a bad procedure, though. The American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, or ASMBS, states that more scientific data is needed before it can make recommendations about the procedure. The FDA is very cautious about approving any health claims. Before any drug or medical device goes on the market, the FDA conducts clinical trials to make sure that its claims are true. In the case of sleeve plication, the technique is so new that not much scientific evidence is available. So far, it looks like sleeve plication is comparable to the vertical sleeve, and your stomach tissue is not removed. In the article, ASMBS admits that it can’t make official patient recommendations because the technique is too new, but that gastric plication is worth investigating! What do you think? If you’re considering gastric plication, do you wish there were official national recommendations? Coming Soon: Member Spotlights! Let everyone know about your new food or recipe in the forum! Don’t forget that you can always go back to try the old member challenges and post your experience. Going public is a great way to motivate yourself, and other members can learn from your experiences! The New Challenge: Share Your NSV! Okay, first of all, what does NSV mean? It’s short for a Non scale Victory, and it’s just what it sounds like. It’s a victory related to your lap-band journey but not related to the number on the scale. We all have disappointing weigh-ins at some point, but it’s not all about the weight. The journey is about getting healthy, loving life and having new, positive experiences. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in the number on the scale that we forget to celebrate the other victories that are just as important. This Newsletter’s challenge is to recognize a new NSV and write about it in the Challenge Forum. An NSV can be anything that makes you realize what positive steps you’ve taken for yourself. Some possible NSV’s that you recognize might be: Going to a baseball game and fitting into the seat. Buying your new summer swimsuit in a regular store. Keeping your cool while you eat a meal with your hypercritical mother-in-law. Don’t be shy about sharing your NSV on the Challenge Forum. You can help other Sleeve Plication members learn to recognize their own NSVs and take pride in them! So that’s about it for this week’s newsletter, but there’s never a dull moment at SleevePlicationTalk.com! Come by and post often, and be sure to share your opinions, advice and feedback. See you on the boards!
