July sleevers please check in..
Flutterby replied to shannyd4's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi July 2013 Sleevers! Congratulations to everyone... I know there are obviously still ups and downs in this process for all of us and it's so good to be supported and understood and find encouragement here! I was sleeved July 12, 2013. My start weight was 296. I lost 10 lbs on pre-op and I've lost 31 since my surgery five weeks ago - Total of 41 lbs. I realized that the pre-op diet and post-op clear and full liquids diet are what jump-started the weight loss for me. The scale is moving slowly now, but still down - woo hoo!!! We're now in the middle of moving to a new house and I've packed my scales away. No more weighing until we're set up in the new house next week. My NSV's keep motivating me too! 1. No more CPAP since 3 weeks post-op! 2. People notice! - my daughter says it's so much easier to hug me close! (She's 14 - and loves to hug me... does a mother good!) 3. My feet (heels mostly) don't hurt much at all anymore! 4. I've taken up 4 notches on my belt! 5. I don't look 8 months pregnant anymore... maybe just 3... lol. 6. My energy level is picking up nicely! 7. So much less overall muscle and joint pain! Things are not always great since having surgery, of course.... I've had a few "issues" now and then with nausea, eating one too many bites (uugghh!), real hunger that lasts for two or three days straight, itching all over, and occasional dizziness. Thankfully these things pass - or at least I refuse to dwell on them too long - my supportive family helps to remind me of the positives when I get "moody" around them... lol. I'm grateful for my sleeve and determined to meet my goals! My two oldest children are getting married next year and I want to be able to rock those Mother of the Groom (In May 2014) and Mother of the Bride (September 2014) dresses and make them proud! I'm wanting to get to 170 by May (9 months from now and 85 lbs... I think it's possible) and down to my goal weight of 150 by September (20 more lbs in four months). That would be meeting my goal weight in 14 months from surgery. From 296 starting out to 150 - total loss of 146 lbs.... Like being "half the woman" I was..lol... whew!!! It's not going to be the easiest journey but my sleeve is the best tool for the job! -
Hand me downs...from my daughter!
scarbedazzles replied to mvickyway's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I understand how you want her to lose too. My girls would freak if I was suddenly smaller than them, but it's likely to happen unless they keep up with the boot camp I bought them. But.... congrats on that NSV!!! It's awesome to be better than we've been in years. -
Today is my 13th wedding anniversary and I went out to dinner with my hubby. I wore a new dress size 1x (down from 4x), wore my wedding rings (only recently fit me) and had a lovely time with my man who said I look 10 years younger! What a happy day. I was sleeved 6/25 and am down 40 lbs from surgery and a total of 85 since January. Lovin life! Just in case you wondered I ordered shrimp cocktail and had a few bites of my husbands filet mignon, delish!

Thank you Cheri. You seem to know what to say and when to say it. Totally agree. I wish everyone a NSV this coming week. -
My VGS was done 5/09/2012, I have maintained my goal weight since April. I workout with weights and trainer 3 days a week along with a 30 minute cardio workout on stationary bike doing the mountain riding programs all out. I do Water aerobics, swim laps 2-3 days a week. Lets just say I'm very active. To the point I don't even consider exercise as exercise, but just fun!! To the point....we did a body fat analysis today at the gym and I went from 41% to 28% in the last 6 months!!!!

Your friend sounds wonderful, Aussiegirl. NSV? Does anyone in Brisbane have a recommended jeweler/goldsmith you can recommend to resize my wedding and engagement rings? I am in real danger of losing them off my finger. I don't feel I can trust just anyone, because you do hear stories of diamonds being switched etc. I will probably end up needing them resized at least once more during this journey. For now, I have switched to wearing them on the other hand, which feels really weird. It's strange how wearing rings makes your finger shrink, isn't it?

My name is Stephanie and I'm a labor and delivery nurse. I love my job and bringing babies into the world. I have 2 kids, 13 and 17 and an awesome husband. I'm getting banded in December 2013 and I'm so excited. Yesterday at the waterpark with the kids I had my first NSV and I haven't even got the band yet! I was sitting there thinking "this is the last summer I will wear a SWIM DRESS!!!" I may never wear a bikini and I don't even care about, even though I do rock the swim dress!! LOL! I've already done so much research I could probably do the surgery and open my own clinic. Sometimes it doesn't help being a nurse !

I fractured my ankle and foot last night, but they put me in a standard size wheelchair instead of the super wide ones and I fit! With room to spare!

Went to the waterpark with my daughter & Grandkids & had a Blast!! It felt great to actually feel confident in a swimsuit in public, not worry that I was the largest person there & everyone was staring at me....& best of all...to be able to do the water slides without worrying about the weight limit!! I LOVE my sleeve!! :-D

Amen! I celebrated a NSV yesterday too... went to my one year check up (everything was great) and then had to go have lab work done. I always dread the lab work...no the actual stick itself...but the sitting in the lab chair. Yesterday as I sat down I realized that I had plenty of room in the chair...no longer did I have to squeeze or sit sideways!! It's a good feeling to fit places now!! Happy for your NSV!! -
still see a fat person in mirror

Woohoo! farmgirl04! I like the results that you got from your ladies at the store. That in itself is a great NSV!!!!! -
I have been having pain in my hip for several years. Since I have rheumatoid arthritis I wanted to have a base line X-rays and MRI. I have had several MRI's in my life. In the past it was very painful small. Well as I laid on the bed I thought to myself wow I am going to enter the tube and have no issues. I went in and still had plenty of room to move around and be comfortable. As I laid there I thought about my year of post op victories and I was amazed at my accomplishments and how much I have changed. I came out of the tube smiling! Celebrate your victories big or small they seem!

Losing weight equals gaining confidence!

Prior to getting banded 3 weeks ago, I had lost 176 pounds through diet and exercise. Well the local YMCA used my story 2 years running for fund raising. They gave me trainers and every tool I needed for success at no cost to me! My insurance changed and they pay for my gym membership now only it is to 24 hour fitness. However I feel quite a bit of loyalty to the Y, they helped me so much I would not have gotten where I did with out their kind loving support. Well they called me2 weeks ago and ask if I would be willing to meet with them, my story that was featured on their FB page had gotten quite a bit of notice. Well last week I had a meeting with them and they ask if I would we willing to be in a 6 minute video shoot for the Y. Of course I said I would after all it was the least I owed them. Well a year ago someone bought me a beautiful long black dress that had a slit up the front, heals and all the accessories to wear to a formal dinner for the Y. My first White House Black Market dress size 14! Well the same person has offered to buy me another outfit for the video shoot this year. So off to Chico's I went got cute size 14 jeans with fancy sparkly pockets and a fancy denim jacket! Three weeks ago I was in a size 16 jeans, so that's a good NSV too! Thankfully I had 2 50% off coupons so both items were half off! But I have to say life keeps getting better and better! I never thought I would wear jeans with fancy pockets, as I never wanted anyone to notice my backside or really any other part of my body for that matter! I'm including a picture of me in the black dress from last years gala ball. -
On my way. 8 months and 78lbs and a NSV!!!

Day 1 pic and today AND I just bought clothes at the gap and banana and they fit!!! And they weren't even the biggest size AND no one looked at me like I didn't belong AND no one asked me if I needed a gift receipt BIG DAY!! -
Was in a regular size lingerie store today and found some super cute PJs. Asked the sales girl how they fit and said that I seem to be fitting into a size large. She says "well I'm a size 10 and you are about the same size as me, so I'd get the medium." I had to fight back tears and the urge to kiss her full on the lips...lol WOO HOO!

Mixed nsv's. Good pants, bad face :)
gamergirl posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm really happy, 24 days out. We avoided complications, pain and horrors. We're both losing weight. And today I had a good and bad NSV although bad may not qualify as V? Good: I'm fitting into my smaller pants! Land's end elastic waist starfish pants, but went from XL to L. Yay me! Bad: I'm starting to show turkey wattles under my neck. Eeps! I worried about aging when I lost weight because the fat sure plumps out my 47-year face. I have very few wrinkles compared to women my age but again, artifact of fat I'm sure. This is normal, right? You can't lose 21 lbs in 4 weeks without getting some signs of aging, yes? This will lessen over time? Maybe? What's been your experience? -
woo hooo!!! Those are great nsv's!! I need to go shopping too, but I get terrified! I'm pretty sure I'm not in plus sizes anymore, but every time I venture into the 'other' section, I feel like the plus size police will be waiting for me to drag me back to the plus size corner. haha

It's all good things.. buying a bra is such a pain... I used to wear Wacoal bra's because they were so much more comfortable than regular bra's.. now I can wear about anything .. going from 44D to 38C so far is a blessing.. I am starting to enjoy shopping more .. It's great to read about other folks and their NSV's it keeps me on track.. Good luck @ Kohl's.. we don't have one here.

Went to a consignment shop today and found this cute 3/4 length cotton shirt, it was so me, size 2X, just knew it would fit because it was Croft & Barrow from Kohl's and althought I love Kohl's their brands run small on me unlike your more expensive stores like Dillards or Macy's but I went ahead and tried it on, well with disappointment it was too big but on the otherhand joy joy joy, too big right? Needless to say I left with nothing. Guess I should hit Kohl's to see about 1X's on sale...I see I need to shop. Oh and another one, bought a bra yesterday, size 38DD, instead of a 40DD, I was wearing a 44DD when I started. I really wanted to buy the 38D but couldn't afford the Wacoal bra and didn't have time to try it on so I stuck with what I tried on.
