In the hospital- need good vibes

Hey, T, first, the healing vibes, if I can guess at how to spell them.... WoooO-OoooH-ShwoooO-WheeeSH-AaaaaH! You're feeling so sensitive, disappointed and helpless around the edges, so you're thinking that somehow you deserve it all. You are so way, far off base. This infection just landed in your lap. In no way are you a burden to your employer -- that's what health insurance is for. I think it's safe to say that your husband isn't fed up. He's concerned. Waiting time in emergency room's is always notoriously endless, so sighing is a sign of frustration and boredom from hours of having no control over the situation and nothing to do. Your mother, well, she just loves you, maybe just because you're lovable, yes?

@@jhclikesshopping@gmail.com Wow 30 minutes? And going to the bathroom was definitely a concern bc I go every single night ugh lol Thanks for the heads up though! I feel much more prepared for what's to come

Okay. Well that's kind of good to know bc I was worried they wouldn't be able to get the electrodes in my scalp. @@BLERDgirl

@@BLERDgirl Okay. Now I've been worried bc I have my hair in plaits. I hope they are culturally sensitive and can work with black girl hair! Lol
  5. Hey guys. My kidney function tanked due to a severe infection. I'm afraid my surgery has been postponed to some far off future date. I. Am. So. Disappointed. I need good healing vibes not only for my physical ailments but for my emotional well being as well. I feel worthless. I feel like a burden to my employer. I've had to take off so much work for the prerequisites and now I'm off for who knows how long. My husband is fed up with me. I can tell. I've never heard him sigh so much in the almost 5 hours we were in the ER. He had to take off work too. My mom is possibly facing a cancer diagnosis and wants to postpone her tests and Drs appointments. I keep telling her not to. That I'm being taken care of. Thanks for listening.

    Liquid diet protein

I'm doing ok. I am two weeks out tomorrow and I'm still on liquids until my first post op appt on Thursday. I'm not very sore and haven't been taking pain meds for around a week. My problem is I'm not drinking enough fluids in general and not enough protein either. I've got to get better bc I've been dizzy and literally have no energy. My dr will not be happy if I don't get a little better at it. The problem is I have to write everything down and keep reminder alarms bc I forget to eat unless I'm bored....And head hunger is real!!! It's really hard just being on liquids but I'm hoping once I'm on puréed foods and can "chew" it will be better.

    About to be single!

I'm done. I just really don't think I have it in me to deal with MY emotions and fears let alone his BS!
  8. Well........I went by the sleep Number store today. Great situation.....got there shortly after opening and had the run of the store and the salesperson. She was really helpful and answered all my questions......no hype. No BS. Straightforward. I was quite satisfied with the firmness that could be achieved. More than adequate. Backing off from 100 to 85 felt really good. The adjustable bases really made for an awesome set-up. The 'weightless' setting felt really good as did elevating the feet some. I need to decide if the adjustability is worth the additional $3,000 over the price of whichever set I zeroed in on. There is a 25 year warranty that is pro-rated after 2 years. I'm not really sure I understand what all the Sleep IQ does for you, but I didn't really get into discussion about it. I've got a few quotes to think about.......but the main thing is deciding how much it's worth to me to elevate the head & foot. If I go that route, it must be independently adjustable L&R, thus the $3,000 cost. That's a large expense. Thanks for all your ideas and information. The Radisson is the chain that has the Sleep Number beds. I may have to do a weekend at a Radisson and see how I like it............

    Stupid scale!

No they don't require me to lose a certain amount, I just CAN NOT GAIN!! But it's so aggravating because I know how hard I'm trying and the scale just keeps flip floppin! Started at 280 then went to 278, 277.6, 275, 278, 281, 277.4 it's BS!!!!

    Revision?

I had bypass and don't dump so don't consider that surgery only because you think you would. 48 pounds is quite a lot and as for your friend who lost 100 pounds in 3 months, well maybe I shouldn't say what I really think about that but frankly I call BS. You need to see a therapist and work through some of these head and heart issues. No amount of surgeries can fix that. Don't get discouraged. Just get back on plan.

    Richmond California Kaiser? anyone

I started out wanting the band bc it can be temporary. Then found out that there are tons of complications. It can slip, many don't lose all there excess weight, there are more food restrictions and you have to have an access port.. Then I wanted the sleeve and still do. Less food restrictions later on. Better nutrient absorbability. Less complications if you follow the rules.

    Protein

I've been getting the 60 grams of protein I need daily. Today I'm really having a hard time getting it in. I'm at about 50 grams. I can't eat or drink anything else. I feel like I'm gonna be sick. I am stressing so hard right now Bc I didn't get my needed amount. Is one day and 10 grams less something I really need to stress about? Someone please tell me I'm overacting!

What excess skin has been the most annoying?

Thanks Kathy. Now Im looking at getting into another surgery. At work one of my assistants complimented that now she can see how much weight I have lost with the tighter clothes i was wearing, my other assistant commented yes its very visible and that now I am all (b##bs) - top heavy- arhhgg never did like the above D cups. Well that did it I called my insurance and asked if I would be covered for a reduction, they said Id be covered if its a medical condition so I said is back ache due to top heavy a good reason and she said yep to go for it.

    Okay how to cook

I'm a sleever and could do ground beef (grass fed organic 90% lean ground beef that is) about 9 weeks out without any problems. I am about 12 weeks out now and have no desire to do sausage or nitrates, etc.
  15. I got my unjury sample pack last night. I mixed the strawberry with lemonade and it was tolerable. I'm a little nervous to try the rest Bc I've had such a hard time with Protein.

  17. You have to be careful with these "try it out at home for xxx days -- if you don't like it, money back, no questions asked." When the bed is delivered, the delivery men take away the one you have, which would make great good sense if you already know that new item is like Baby Bear's bed.. If you then want to return the new one, what will you sleep on? I have no idea how insistent the delivery people are -- whether it's a strong-arm operation? A scameroo? Buying a bed's a britch. Not a scam or strong arm deal. These guys wouldn't put up with BS. I just know they've been raving about this bed. Also removal of the old mattress is optional, much like when buying appliances. I kept my old fridge when I purchased a new one because my local utility company as a recycle program where they will remove the old appliance for free and pay you for it.
  18. Well the basic whey protiens in the market , i just found an organic grass fed i think i will purchase that egg ad hemp and drink betwwe. All of those its just nice to hear what others have to say

Ill be going ti mexico so i know il need something on my way back also
  20. A little over a year ago my wife and i bought what we thought at the time was an awesome set of bedding. We went with a Tempurpedic memory foam king sized set. First time in 20 years of marriage we've had a king sized bed. At first is seemed okay. She still loves it. She's a 140 pound side sleeper and I"m an oversized dude who only sleeps flat on my back. We are two vastly different profiles and I now see how foolish it was to think we'd both be supported to our liking by the same bedding type. The salesman did his thing and said everything he needed to sell it. For the first few months is was okay by my standards and great by hers. I herniated a disc in my back and some other damage....but the spine doc said everything he saw on the MRI could heal eventually if I'd lose significant weight and get proper rest. He's the one that finally got me to see the wisdom in weight loss surgery. Well.....the weight is now coming off and will continue to do so but I am convinced that even after I reach goal weight this mattress is a poor fit for me. I slept in it the last three nights.......and have struggled due to that. Back is screaming. I"m done with it. This memory foam mess can go to the spare bedroom and work out great for guests. We never did look around at the sleep Number Store. Their concept sounds great in theory......I was just hoping to gain some insight before I go to the store and have to listen to a bunch of sales hype and BS from them. I need a real world, real deal, no BS recommendation from a fellow large guy. What is working for you ?? This is becoming a big priority for me.
  21. I had RNY about three months ago. Normally I am on the BC pill continuously, which means I never get a period. However, I started my period, despite being on the pill, and I'm now on day 13. Holy hell. I've never had this happen. I've called my RNY doc who said to go to my ob-gyn. Ob-gyn booked me for my annual exam -- in January! I know irregular menstrual cycles are normal after losing a fair amount of weight, but I'd love to hear from others who have had to deal with crazy long periods after losing a lot of weight after RNY.

    Feeling frustrated

I'm in the exact same boat! I have been so upset and wanting to quit bc I've been working on this since July14th and had my psyc eval July 27th and was told I was passed. Then I finally finished nutrition portion last month and was told I'm clear to make my pre-op appt with the surgeon. Then a week after waiting on the bariatric nurse to call me back with my appt she tells me that psyc has not entered anything yet via notes on my records. So I have been trying to get in touch with psyc she was off so I had the secretary send an email, I have called her direct line for a week!!! After she finally signs off on it officially, I still have to make appt with the surgeon so he can schedule my EGD. Then make anther appt to look at my EGD, to make another appt for the actual surgery. I'm scared that it won't get done in time for me to be able to recover over Christmas break. If this happens I will probably have to wait until spring break in April. The problem doesn't lie with how many more appts I have, the issue is waiting on a phone call after multiple messages and emails!! I am upset that after months of appts hard work that they forgot to put it in the computer or they take a week to actually make an appt that is probably another few weeks out

    Tennessee

I'm from Knoxville. Just got approved. Took less than a week for approval. BC/BS of TN. Dr. Boyce
  25. Your doctor isn't making you go back to work, she is simply not writing you a note to keep you from having to go back. It is your job that is not allowing you to take the time off that you feel you need. Another surgeon isn't going to keep you from going back to work. The other option would be talking to your PCP about writing you a medical note giving you more time. thanks for your response. And yes, Dr made it clear that I needed to get back in the groove of things which will help with the recovery. It has been my goal to be back in the swing of things. Unfortunately bc of the govt job that I have I cannot return to work until I can perform 100%. Mainly my question/concern is can she force me back to work--not allow me the leave I need just because it's her way??? I honestly felt like she is not being my advocate, and pushing me out to work when I am not physically ready to perform. I let her know every time I had an appointment and she made me feel like it was my fault that I had so much nausea, dizziness, and fatigue. I'm currently looking for another bariatric surgeon. At this time I am safe to return, but I haven't returned bc I have a new health issue that has come up.
