    Having second thoughts

Sounds like there is a lot of weight in your life you could drop before surgery. Obviously, make sure your daughter is fed, but beyond that, take care of YOURSELF. If he can't deal with that, you really should reevaluate your relationship. Having this surgery can put a strain on healthy relationships, so imagine how difficult it will be to maintain a rocky one. If he isn't supporting you now, he probably won't support you later, when you really need it. All the best to you! ~*~ Find me on YouTube: Trisha's Sleeve Story ~*~
  3. Surprisingly pretty good. I just want food sooo bad. Soo i got some tomatoe bisque and butter nut squash on some days. Premier protein is my friend. Goes down the best. DS Surgeons Los Angeles CA

Hi, One of the best DS surgeons (I'll be using him when I move back to CA). is Ara Keshishian. I don't know if he takes BC, but I'd sure make the call.
  5. I had the lapband in 9/13, got pregnant 5/14. I had only lost 25 lbs. it was not planned, but I didn't take precaution either. I was 34 when I got pregnant and had revision when my daughter was 10mo at 35. It's easy to not think of ur goals and weight after babies bc u put their needs and wants come first. Then u might want another and might put it off again. It's up to you but I say get healthy first and then tackle parenthood. It could be harder the other way around. Just my 2 cents.

    Rude people

Yes they are both extremely overweight. I never bring up my surgery with anyone but my husband and best friend. Just Bc I don't want the attention and all.

    Rude people

I just feel bad for my husband Bc it's his family and he wants everyone to get along so bad. His mom treated his first wife like crap and there were a lot of issues there. He was really hoping this time around his mom would be better. She was ok for the first 2 years but midway thru this year, year 3 she started her crap. I come from a really screwed up family. I have no contact with any of my family, they pretty much disowned me Bc I graduated hs went on to college and moved 1500 miles away. I didn't fall into their drug addicted trap and become one of them. So to them I am stuck up and a snob. So eventually i quick trying with them. That was 6 years ago. My whole life I grew up with my family feuding with each other and not doing holidays together and all that. I know how bad it is to be stuck in a family that can't get along. I am trying really hard to avoid those issues with my in laws, for my husband and step kids. My father in law is great. All the rest of my husband family is great. It's just his mom and sister. I will give them the last chance at my youngest stepdaughters bday if it gets outta hand ago I will give them the boot, but I will be sure to thoroughly explain to them what they have done wrong first.

    Rude people

I had my sleeve 9 weeks ago. Things are going great, I've had a couple bad days but nothing major to complain about. I've lost 40 lbs in two months. So I am feeling really great with no regrets. As we have all just gone thru the holiday season with lots of opportunities to fall off the wagon, I had no desire to eat anything bad for me. My in laws, mostly my mil and sil were so extremely rude throughout the holidays. On thanksgiving my mil announced at dinner I had had surgery and that's why I wasn't eating much. My husbands entire family was there. I was so mad. I chose to keep my surgery quiet. It's a personal matter and I tend to be a very private person and I didn't want all the attention. Well I know my mil was hoping for someone to make some rude comment Bc even before the surgery she was very rude about it. But it back fired on her and everyone was praising my lose and my decision. I could tell she was mad. Well two weeks later we have my sons bday party at a local arcade. They had pizza and cake. I ate a healthy lunch before we left for the party. My mil once again announced in front of my sons friends and their parents that I wasn't eating Bc I had surgery. I was pissed. Then when I was serving cake to everyone a little while my sil says "I'm sure you are regretting your stupid surgery now. You know you want cake!" At that point I was done with both of them. I told her I was very happy with my "stupid surgery", I have no regrets, and I have no desire to eat sweets so if she could kindly keep her negativity to herself I would appreciate it. As soon as I left the room they both started talking crap about me to my ex mil who is like my mom. She shut them both down very quickly. Even she wasn't excited about my surgery but she has always been supportive. So now we are at Christmas, my husbands family is talking to me about my weight loss and how good I'm looking and asking how things are going. Both my mil and sil kept interrupting making rude comments, bringing up how I had a bad day recently so it wasn't worth it, how the holidays have to suck for me Bc I can't eat like a normal person, and how they can't see a difference in my weight (I've gone down 3 sizes), and so on. I finally pulled them to the side and told them they need to cut the negative, rude, unnneeded comments. I told them they seem very jealous and hopeful for me to fail and i didn't appreciate that from people who are claiming to be family. If it continues we would no longer take part in their family gatherings. So my mil turns around and tells my husband I was being a bitch (sorry for the language) and threatening to disown them. My husband was clueless to most of these comments and incidents other than the thanksgiving incident. And on thanksgiving he told her she was rude and disrespectful and it needed to stop. I filled him in on everything else and was furious. He called her and told her I had every right to say what I said and to be mad. And he stood by me completely. I'm sure this will not be the end of it. But it's getting to the point I just don't want to be around them. Or I am gonna turn into that mega bitch she claimed I am. Anyone else deal with this kinda stuff from family or friends?

Insurance process - how many approvals do you need?

Yep! and I called this morning. OHP kaiser referral says I have medical approval for 6 months.. OHSU didn't have the referral yet but I was told this morning that it is a 2 year waiting list for state insurance.. basically she said they don't have enough room to serve THEIR patients and everyone else, so non members (state)are put on a long waiting list.. THIS IS BS.. I will be on the phone all day .. Isn't that discrimination? I have a pre cancerous condition and the longer I wait the more serious it is.. so the OHSU rep basically said to me this morning that.. if someone on their insurance doesn't have any co-morbidity they will get in before me... because they get priority...
  10. Sleeves 12/21! 1st night home was rough (22nd)! I had a complication during surgery bc my spleen was attached to my stomach so they had to remedy that 1st then continue on with the sleeve. Lost quite a bit of blood and was weak and really sore. EVERY SINGLE DAY IS BETTER!! Since 2nd day home I'm walking over a mile strolling the kids in the stroller 1-2xs a day. But when my energy runs out its immediate and I need to rest ASAP! I'm back to washing bottles and loading the dishwasher (top rack only--still a bit uncomfortable to bend), folding clothes! So glad I feel normal for the most part! Now on to food! The last 2 days I've felt hungry but I think it's in my head! I want ANYTHING other than fruit or a Protein shake which along with Clear liquids are my only options. Some scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, tuna anything that's not sweet!
  11. I'm back in WI but just moved from TX earlier this year! I feel ur pain, although up here it's been really mild and no snow! Stay indoors bc I know for a fact yall aren't equipped or experienced to handled the snow. Be safe.
  12. What are your symtoms or signs of hunger? I'm asking bc I'm 4 days post op and I'm always hungry too but I realize it's only head hunger like I'm hungry all the time bc I want food bc I want to eat things that I used to eat or like I used to eat... But at the same time I can only fit 1oz of water and I'm having full pains... If it's head hunger u have than that will take a while to subside bc you have to train ur body not to crave these things! Hope that all makes sense!
  13. I must be a horrible person bc I'm nearly 4 wks out and ate like 6 Cookies (over the course of two days), a couple Hershey kisses, and a couple bits of a tamale. Yes I know, not good....but I'm not going to stop living life bc I have the sleeve or I won't stop my progress bc I had those treats. I'm not sweating it, bc I know my goals and my determination to get there. I will not be defined by food or by my sleeve. that said...don't beat urself up! What's the use either way...what's done is done, just continue eating right and ull be fine. Don't let it shake u up or give up. Ur human and u are some sweet stuff on a holiday. It's ok!
  14. Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and was hoping to get some advice from real people who have gone through this. I'll try and make this as short and to the point as possible. Basically, I've been struggling with my weight for my entire life, as I am sure is the case with many of you. I have tried every diet known to man, always lost weight and always gained it back plus more. I am currently at my heaviest with a BMI of 36. I recently started looking into weight loss surgery and had decided on the LapBand....or so I thought. I had a consultation with the surgeon on Monday who basically told me that he didn't recommend the band for me and strongly suggested that I go with the sleeve. He said he would put the band in, if I really wanted it but it would be against his guidance. Needless to say, it was not what I expected to hear nor what I wanted to hear. So, that brings us to now. The sleeve and the bypass was never anything that I considered. It's not that I don't want something "permanent" cause I am scared that I will change my mind but I am scared of doing something irreversible, in case there are problems. I mean, what if I never eat again and have to be fed through a tube for the rest of my life? As an example. I'm feeling super discouraged cause this was my only hope. I don't have a plan B. Can someone please tell me how this has worked for you, if you are happy with your decision, why you chose the sleeve, whether I am being completely ridiculous, etc.? It would be great to hear from real people who are going through similar things and not just a doctor who doesn't understand. So much for keeping this short. ???? Thanks in advance to all!

    GoFundMe accounts?

I see a new "Gofundme" everyday for the craziest things! I'm going to set up a Gofundme account to fix my "give a sh*t meter" because it's broken! I'm not sure how much it's going to cost to fix it but I'm sure it's more than I can afford. Now, to you...if I were in your shoes I would defiantly go to Mexico! That's what I was going to do but we have Fed insurance through my hubs work that was excellent and paid for it (he's been working over 35 years so he's more than paid his fair share trust me) Please don't call me "lucky" lucky would have been not needing it at all! Not going to Mexico when you can afford that route and asking others for money instead is like being a starving person who rejects a sandwich because it's has mayo on it. It's the whole "beggars can't be choosers" scenario. In the end it's up to you but go to MEXICO and enjoy!!! Adios!
  16. Wow..can I relate to this thread! I had my surgery 11/19/15..and returned to work 2 weeks ago...(having lost 35 pounds since anyone last saw me)...one doofus @ work immediately blurted out, "Did you have gastric bypass?!?"---I confronted her and curtly told her that my surgery was personal...and essentially none of her concern. The next day, I returned to work to hear that she told everyone I had vaginal reconstruction!!! I was appalled. Again, I confronted her..asking just WTH her problem was...spreading lies that had placed her on a fast-track to a workplace harassment charge...now possibly sexual harassment....and she meekly replied, "I was just concerned about you"--- BS...."concern" would have been checking in on me while I was off from work...not speculating and fabricating BS lies upon my return because you don't know ANYTHING about my personal life...and you have some sick need to be the focus of everything. --- I told her that if anyone wanted to 'really know what went on while I was gone from work', that I'd gladly tell them, provided that they be willing to pay a portion of my medical bills....otherwise, it's NOYB. Period. I told her that if she spoke one more word about my health or appearance, there would be consequences beyond which she cared to imagine.....Strangely enough, she has been quiet as a mouse since. Some people just have serious issues seeing someone else experience anything positive....My choice to undergo such a life-altering procedure didn't come lightly...and the victories are MINE...and of no concern to anyone other than those I choose to share with.

    December 21st!

How did you make out Imready2015? My surgery took a little longer than expected and I lost some blood bc my spline was attached to my stomach and they had to detach it first. A little sore today especially where they removed the drain line near the spline. I'm tolerating Clear liquids really well, gas pain not bad at all. Feeling much better than I expected!!

    Post surgery rash

I just went to my surgeon bc of a stomach rash, he said Benadryl.
  19. I just had my surgery on 12/17. Good luck with everything ❤️ a few things to remember or know(things I didnt) you are more than likely going to wake up in SERIOUS pain bc of the gas and very nauseous. You may even throw up( I did) you may even think to yourself why did I do this. How can I take it back ( I did) but remember this pain and nausea is short lived. I am already beginning tot feel like myself again. I'm not trying to scare you but I wasn't told any of the bad sides to the surgery so I want to make anyone aware of the possibilities. Don't be afraid to ask for pain meds and anti nausea meds. WALK WALK WALK. Give it a day or 2 after your surgery and you will start to remember why you did and be thankful that you did. Good luck with everything you will do awesome !Sorry for asking on someone else's post, but your reply caught my attention. You said that you had serious pain, what was hurting? Was it the incisions, or could you feel pain at your stomach pouch? Just curious, this has been one of my questions all along. I am having surgery on Dec 28.My apologies for asking questions on someone else's post, I am pretty new to this forum stuff. Don't be sorry that's what we are all here for ! The serious pain comes from the gas that they put into your abdomen to expand the surgical field. Of course my stomach hurt but it was the gas that really was the uncontrolled part mainly bc there isn't much to be done besides release the gas. Pain meds don't affect it but as long as you walk as soon as possible you wil move the gas faster.ndont be too worried about the pain, it's a normal thing for this surgery but honestly it goes by so quickly that you won't even have time to remember the pain. I am 4 days out and spent my day wrapping presents. My pain is almost pretty much eliminated at this point. Hope everything works out and good luck on your surgery

  22. @@Dallas Powell I have been meaning to get around to replying to this post for like a week, sorry Dallas. However, the Doctor is W-R-O-N-G about revisional surgery. Here is a link to the North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset Long Island, they advertise two revisional procedures right on the website. Link here, Note the two bottom choices the StomaphyX procedure and the ROSE procedure. When I was in NY I lived about 3 miles from this Hospital, it is where both my children were born and I have been a guest several times, lol. Not sure where you are, or your resources, but the North Shore-LIJ Health system, is a world class hospital, they are cutting edge, while I had my surgery done here in NH where I live, if practical there is no where else on Earth I would rather be than the North Shore Hospital. Plugging for them was not my intent, my intent was to show you that there are very simple and low risk almost outpatient procedures to fix with is wrong with you. Your surgeon was correct, 10 years ago revision was a VERY big deal. Reducing stoma size was not so difficult, however reducing the size of the Antistomosis was a VERY big deal. Now it's done with an endoscope through your mouth with conscious sedation. So again, don't buy into that ass-wholes BS, look into the procedures listed and then comes the hard part. Getting your insurance to pay for it. Best of luck and keep us posted! Merry Christmas and lets all pray for Dallas to have a great new year!!

  25. I had surgery on 12/15 and I'm anxious for the next week to pass by, so I can hopefully get off this liquid diet. I really didn't have any pain or nausea, but I'm very tired. I had a little gas pain day 1, but not bad. This morning was the first time that I experienced any nausea and it was bc I tried to take my powdered vitamins with 2 oz of water. That was a bad move! I threw up and felt pretty bad for about an hour. Besides that, not one episode of nausea. No pain meds since leaving hospital. I do feel hungry and wish I could eat an egg, beans, something. The sweetness of the shakes I now find disgusting. The protein soups have helped, but I'm sick of liquids. I haven't been able to get my protein in the past 2 days. I sleep a lot!!
