November Surgery Buddies!!!
Tristenhilpert97 replied to Tristenhilpert97's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Started our PreOp 10 day diet today. It is going smoother than I imagined so far. I have been drinking my protein shakes sips at a time trying to get my body used to what it would be like after surgery and it has helped me feel full throughout the day. November 8th can't get here soon enough!! -
Today is one year since my revision bypass surgery. I've lost 59 pounds since surgery and 95 pounds since my all-time pre-sleeve weight. I am healthy, happy and feel better than I've felt in 20 years! And the great news is - I no longer have GERD! Good luck to all of us who are on this crazy weight loss journey and I'm grateful for this forum to be able to openly share my outcomes. Other social media platforms would never understand our journeys.

My preop diet starts on the 3rd of November for 3 weeks. I have given it lots of thought while I waited. I am allowed veg, milk and yogurt. My go to, will be Thai soups and salads. I have bought in lots of water noodles as they are only 4 cals a packet. I like them better than courgetti. They do fill you up. When I get fed up of those I will have soups - carrot and coriander, mushroom and onion are favourite's . Then there is vegetable curries with cauliflower rice. I have had a lot of time on these pages and will use all the knowledge I have picked up. Onwards and downwards

I am scheduled for November 22 I’m so excited I am from Chicago Illinois. -
Hi My care seems alot different to America. I live in Spain. I have a nutrition lady who for 1 month before gave me a full diet plan on what I liked then 3 days before it was water and 3 protein shakes a day. Had bypass on 6th For 2 days water only then a week of 2 shakes and fluid. Then onto puree now on soft food. I'm struggling with eating meat so sticking with vegetable based meals as that sits better with me I am on 7-8 tiny meals a day. Big love to all on our epic journeys Xxx

You Are My Sunshine replied to Tristenhilpert97's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello! NOVEMBER 9 for me. I was scheduled earlier this year, but illness delayed me for a bit. It was frustrating then, but I'm over it now. As much as I'm going to miss the holiday "norms" I do love this time of year, and have other things to enjoy, so that helps. I'm on a 2 week liquid diet (shakes, broth, jello, popsicles). Day 4 and I feel pretty eh. I made it through a week of the liquid diet last time, so it's not really "new" but I feel more bored with it this time around, if that makes sense. It's all mental games, so I'm trying to remember that and use it as experience for post-op mental games. Super nervous about the actual surgery (never had surgery before), and having somewhat irrational fears about it. But the excitement is also building. -

My surgery date is November 12 and i just went to my Pre- Ansesthesia Testing yesterday. I notice when i got weighed that i gained 5 pounds, my surgeon told me that she doesn't want me to gain anymore weight, now I'm stressed out I've been working out and cutting back calories as i was told to do. but instead of loosing I've gained, I don't know if me being on my period for the past month has anything to do with the weight gain either. I just hope this wont postponed my surgery I've worked so hard these past few weeks

Looking for suggestions - Need to decide to resleeve or bypass

Good choice. GERD is usually resolved by gastric bypass, as is Type 2 Diabetes. -
Hey There! Any December 2021 Surgery Friends?
armartin98 replied to armartin98's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, I'm nervous as well but excited at the same time. It sort of forces you in to doing what is needed and that IS what I need. How did you decide you wanted the Bypass? I had a hard time deciding the Sleeve or Bypass and finally decided on on the Sleeve. Keep us posted. -
I’m so glad to “know” some people here finally having bypass in December. It is good to have more in number so we can encourage each other. I’ve been trying to read and prepare myself with some of the great books one of the members posted about. I am new here but excited to learn more and be a support for each other!

Hello! I'm scheduled for a gastric bypass in the end of November and I've started my pre op diet to lose a few pounds before the surgery. My nutritionist put me on a VLCD with these shakes and soups + some protein and vegetables. Have anyone of you gone through this and have some tips for me? The first few days I was naseous and tired, but now it's kinda ok. What I'm asking is tips and hacks for anyone going through this diet, which is super restrictive and quiet honestly it's gonna be hard to pull this of for the coming 5 weeks. I'm aware that it's also gonna be hard after surgery but I still have the same size stomach so. So do you have any lifesaving tips or recipes or anything? Looking for suggestions - Need to decide to resleeve or bypass
Tufflaw replied to Tufflaw's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Thanks for all the comments. The endoscopy revealed that the sleeve was dilatated so I could either be resleeved or convert to bypass. After speaking with my doctor he recommended the bypass because of my GERD, and I took his advice. My surgery is scheduled for 11/17 and I'm excited to restart this journey! -

Cramping with almost every sip!
learn2cook replied to Fross's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had bypass with hiatal hernia repair. That same spot hurt for the longest time. The doc said that’s where they moved around so much to correct the hernia and muscle is cut there. I had terrible cramping too. It’s normal and will eventually go away. Like others said, keep up the water. I still like LF warm chicken bone broth for something soothing and liquid. -
Just received my surgery date of November 23rd, anxious for sure.

Advice: Going through with the surgery
Namiland posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi all. I'm new here (obviously lol). I met with my surgeon for the first time a couple days ago. It was INCREDIBLY discouraging. Honestly, I'm not even sure if he was trying to discourage me or if he was attempting to make me see just how much I'll need to do to take care of myself. He asked me what kind of surgery I wanted (btw, I'm with Kaiser Perm in NorCal, they only offer two types: Bypass or Sleeve). I told him that I'd read about both types but wasn't entirely sure which would be best for me. I'm a former smoker who quit 2 years ago. He replies with, "Honestly, I wouldn't recommend surgery at all for you." He went on for the next 45 minutes essentially telling me that my PCOS is all in my head (I was diagnosed with insulin resistant PCOS in 2009 NOT by Kaiser and they refuse to acknowledge it because they didn't diagnose it and refuse to test for it) and my continued weight yo-yoing over the years is simply a result of me being lazy about exercise (tell that to my wallet and the gyms I've joined in the past) and make poor food choices. In the end, it felt like he was attempting to talk me out of doing the surgery because my weight issues were all my own fault because I've "self-diagnosed" myself with PCOS to blame it on something other than myself. Yep, he told me I'm self-diagnosing. He also indicated that I've likely put on enough weight just to meet the requirements of the program. Now, I'm struggling to decide if I want to continue with surgery or if I should just crack down on myself and follow a strict diet/exercise plan for the rest of my life. But to be clear, this is 100% a surgery I want to help with my PCOS (as research shows it does). My previous doctor told me that due to the insulin resistance, my body is holding on to the weight because it thinks I'm starving myself. So it craves carbs like crazy and I have to exercise 3 times as hard as the average person to lose the same amount of weight. I'm feeling very discouraged and spiteful. I felt, after that conversation, that I want this surgery just because of how rude the surgeon was. Part of me doesn't want it because what if he's right? What if I AM just lazy and putting blame on something as a result.- 18 replies

November 2019 surgery and tummy tuck included
Lilypop posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
pictures are included so please be advised before hand I do include the surgery pictures just not to gross just the healed scars and all of what a fleur de lis tummy tuck looks like!!! 💢‼️‼️ Well it will soon be my 2 year anniversary for the gastric sleeve and let me tell you what kinda of world wind it has been! To this day if I eat more then 4 ounces of steak I can’t eat anything for the rest of the day since it feels stuck but so far I have been able to eat regular foods. My breads still have to be toasted to not get the tummy gurgles. My stomach talks to everyone especially at night so if I am in a night class and I haven’t smacked at my usually 4 hours it’s like “hey professor hear me answer you” so YES my stomach after I eat speaks to the whole room and after hours as well. The bathroom problem is still a problem so I can poop regularly for 2-3 days and after I’m stuck for 2 day with nothing unless I have a day full of meals then I am golden. I also had a fleur de lis tummy tuck back in January. And that itself was a mess and such a hard recovery which was worth it to fit into my clothes, just wish I didn’t have those hiccups. food wise I have been eating a bit more from what I did in the beginning but never a full size normal plate always the little cereal bowl. So I would say I can eat about a cup or so of food depending on the food heavy steaks only 4-5 ounces and some side dishes. But it’s always at 8 ounces max on good days and other day a bit more. I was seeing a nutritionist even at 2 years in and she had been amazing. weight gain and loss : before my surgeries I was at 256lb after I lost 92 pounds, then after the tummy tuck they removed about 10lbs of skin from my mid section. i was down to 147lbs in January of 2021 after the tummy tuck then now in November I have normalized to a regular weight of 154lbs -156lbs in all it had been a very very long journey and I would say for the most part I would do it again if given the opportunity. now for the pictures guys it has been really really amazing to see me like this find me on Instagram ☺️ @aishas1992 -
