  1. Hi USAGoosie...

I was just looking at my profile stuff and found that you had left me a message a couple of weeks ago. I'm sorry I didn't answer earlier - I didn't know that page existed.

Anyway - yes, I am going through Dr. Leport's program at Orange Coast Memorial. Dr. Leport is my doctor and I have to go to the hospital tomorrow morning at 6 a.m. for surgery. I'm so excited I can't contain myself.

I would love to be support buddies - I'll try to remember to check this section of the site.

  2. hey friend.. how has your week been?? I hope you don't mind but I am really in need of an ear and the forums are weird today.. someone on the preop diet is eating at bk every night,, another girl is PO'd about the preop diet and thinks we should be able to have an "EATFEST" before surgery.. I'm struggling to stay under 1500 cals,, let alone 1000 with shakes and its scaring me.. I have had a rough week with food,, pain in my legs and no one to yap with.. seems everyone has something going on..

How did you manage to get through to your surgery without going insane?? Did you have a long wait?? I have stockpiled a bunch of books, started working on my family photo scanning again, and have been going to bed when the munchies hit.. Weird thing is I haven't craved bread or sweets for quite awhile and even after eating them feel disinterested.. The only thing that tastes good is salad but I have to cook for my family.. I did eat at friendlys.. salad with grilled chicken, it was blahhh though and I left hungry and sad.. lol

okay,, so tell me something you did that motivated yourself and I won't bore you with my blahhhs..

    thanks!!!

    Donna

  3. I'm so glad it well! Can you believe it's done and over with? I woke up this morning and the first thing that popped up in my head was 3 more days! I wonder why the port is so high? I guess Doctors just put it in different area's....mine will be placed a little to my right above my belly button.

I'm so happy your doing so good, keep me posted.....Loser!LOL

  4. hiya, just to let you know how it went, it went really well, i was walking 3 hours after coming round and the nurses were really pleased and half surprised at that. but it really helped with the shoulder pain.

one thing i will say is get yourself some disolveable paracetamol before you go in as i was not sent home with any painkillers, just antibiotics and anti-clotting injections so was in pain yesterday but now i am taking that every 4 hours i am absolutly fine. and slept in my bed all night last night, woke twice because i was thirsty.

hope this settles any nerves you might have, and i am willing to answer any questions

    sarah

  5. Yes we are banded... Everything was good the hospital was a 10+. I had it done yesterday.. No real problems. Just sore and tired.. Don't have and kind of an apatite. Trying to get down the protein shakes.. No problem yet with nausea. Just sore. If I had to rate the pain it would be a 4.... Sleep a lot.. this is good. They say day 3 after surgery is the worst we will see.. I'm just finishing day 1. post op.

  6. Your funny.. one of my friends and I have a joke between us that we need a wife.. someone just like us who loves to clean and do the daily stuff so we could enjoy our kids more, and not have all the stress..

I actually cried through most of that video, especially the parts involving the young man and his family. They were of no help to him at all, even his mother. MY dad is 85 and when I came to work with him 4 yrs ago he constantly made comments about my weight, and even commented that he never saw me really overeating or binging on junk. Still he would make comments to me about losing weight and how I wasn't like that when I was young. I finally told him I had enough, he was not helping and made me feel horrible with his comments, and to leave my brother alone too. He rarely visits anymore and doesn't need to hear the same tirade from my father hes been hearing for 35 years. He is not a cruel or mean man by nature, but it is one subject that bothers him, mostly because our family health issues are overwhelming.

There really has to be a link somewhere with our genes and the way we are wired. My mothers mother was obese. I have never seen a picture of her where she wasn't. My aunts and uncles say she never overate, walked everywhere (born 1898) and even during the depression when food was scarce she still couldn't lose weight.. In 1952 my mother was pregnant with my 2nd oldest brother and my grandmother was determined to lose weight. She went to the doctor to get some help and figured she was paying for the advice so she would do twice as much as he wanted her to and eat even less. She got a cold and her immune system couldn't fight it and she died of pnemonia in 1953. My mother couldn't breast feed anymore and my brother has always had emotional problems and used to self medicate.. I am the youngest of 8. Three of us are morbidly obese, my sister has lost some because she has chrons but never goes under 220 even though she never eats more then a cup of food at a time. It is the part that scares me about the band.. getting it and not losing.. Being realistic, I definately eat more then a cup of food in a serving now, and hope that I won't be able to when the band is in. Does it really give you that full feeling? I ask because I don't have that feeling ever. It stopped after I had a hysterectomy in 2006. The only way I know I am really full is when I need to throw up.. that is bad. For the past month I have tried to be more self aware and have done fairly well. I ate more yesterday then I normally do, but my blood sugar was all over the place and I was shaky. I ate white bread for the first time in 3 weeks and it made me sick... that was an eye opener.

Sorry to ramble.. My head is spinning from this new bit of info. I will probably watch some of it again, and want to give the link to my nutritionist, shes really awesome. She is even going to go to a lap band seminar so she can better understand the process. My insurance will pay for me to keep seeing her monthly because she works for my lipid specialist, and they both want to help me. I have hereditary cholesterol problems,, I am taking Crestor and it is the first thing that has lowered it in 7 years.

Thanks again for posting the link!!

    Donna

  8. Hello to my new best read site. I was just reading Lavetta's post and found it very informational. Thanks Lavetta. I not even a week ago had a hysterectomy and now am waiting for the go ahead from my Dr. for my lap band procedure. I hope that I can continue to get useful info from my new best friends as to what to exspect(?)

  9. hi

it will probably arrive quicker then you think, as i tried not to count how many days and suddenly 10 days came up so fast and now im down to 4! when i wake up it will be 3! im not a little scared as those numbers are now tiny, but i am so ready for this, as you say you are. i will certainly let you know how i am getting on. i cant wait to be one of the people who post on the surgery day stories thread!!!

  10. Hi, I'm Debora. I had my Lap Band Surgery on June 10th, I can eat sometimes if it's soft food, but if I try to eat say a piece of fried chicken or ribs or catfish, I get sick. Is this normal and is it time for me to get my first fill. It will be 8 weeks tomorrow.

  11. Hi Claudine,

I was just reading your blogs! Have fun at the beach this weekend, I'm getting ready to start packing for my weeks vacation, three of those days will be at Pismo Beach (in Ca)...I can't wait, then were doing a couple of concerts (stone temple pilots and Fergie). Anywho!!! I'll be gone so I wanted to wish you the best of luck next Friday!!!

  12. Hi Sugar! I've not posted there in a few days. Unfortunately, I haven't done any jogging since Friday. The past two weeks have been a challenge on my schedule. I usually go out to exercise early in the morning before my husband leaves for work. The last two weeks he's had to go in early so I've not been able to exercise in the morning. We also started building a shed last week, so my evenings have been busy with that. I have been working out to my Turbo Jam DVD at home, but I've made no progress with the c25k. I had thought of giving it up, but I was reading everyone's progress and I don't want to quit! My husband is working nights the rest of this week so I will get a move on tomorrow, for sure. I'm going to go ahead and start week 3. I found week 2 easier than I'd anticipated, so I'm going to move ahead, or at least give it a shot!. Thanks for thinking of me. How are you doing on the c25k?

  13. Hey Jen, glad to know you. I'm ready too. I've already started my pre-op diet. My surgeon requires either 3 wks of low-carb or 1 wk liquids. A no brainer for me. :) Yes, let's keep in touch.

  14. Hello Brina, just wanted to stop by and say Good Luck to you, my surgery is 3/31/08 and I am very excited, so good luck and keep in touch please.

Went to primary care docotor today and still my bmi is 37 and high blood pressure???on a calorie diet<-:huh2:like I havent tried this! calorie diet of 1600-1800 day. 16. Hi Im doing really well thanks. What a great site this is. Im so glad I found it and just a few weeks before surgery woohooo!!

  17. Whao tomorrow is it! That’s great! Well I signed up for the seminar that is this week this morning only to learn this afternoon that even though the dr's at the Oregon bar center are considered "in-network" with the new insurance they say they only cover centers that are considered part of the centers of excellence program I guess so I don’t think they are one. :-( The only one I can find in Oregon is OHSU. My thoughts are with you tomorrow. It will be great!

  18. Hi, I Was Just Wondering What Kind Of Exercise You Are Doing, Because You Look Great For Olny 8 Months. I Am Having Surgery On 3/27, Keep Up The Good Work, If You Can Let Me Know What You Did That Would Be Great. Thanks Brittania

  20. Lynn,

I saw that you posted a response about Pam Miller at True Results in Atlanta, but when I went to the forum the post isn't there. It was Pam who told me everything was covered when I spoke to her last week...when did you find out that things weren't covered?

  21. Hi there! I just saw you in the chat room and figured you were from Nebraska too. I live south of Beatrice and was banded in Lincoln a couple of weeks ago. Give me a shout sometime! Good luck to you!

  22. Hi..sounds like we are on a similar journey. When did you get banded? . I was banded 1/10/08, and have lost about 26 pounds. Slow losing...I know, but I am OK with it. I am down to 193 now. I have only been exercising 3 days a week. I know I need to increase that to 5 days a week in order to see faster weight loss. Good luck to you!

  23. I am glad to hear your doing okay, I go March 31st to see the surgeon to have my band removed. I have had nothing but problems for one year now, April 6th will be one full year and only have lost 16 pounds, been in the hospital 3 times, its crazy

I am glad to hear your de-banding went well.

  24. Trying to find a date to the new Twilight movie next week. I should have married a gay man.

  25. This morning I sang Christmas songs all the way to Milo's school. "Santa Clause is Coming to Town" was his favorite. Everytime I fininshed he said, "Sing it again!!". He is definitely my kid! <3
