    2 week stall

Glad to see this, I have been stalled for a week now (started at 3 weeks). Today is my 4 weeks. I'm ready for it to start moving again so I can stop being so frustrated.

    3 Week Stall

I just recently broke out of a stall that lasted almost 2 weeks. I found myself wondering if when people spoke of the 3 week stall if they meant that I was going to be stalled for 3 weeks. Ugh! Being stalled is so frustrating. But hang in there, the scale will move again! Just keep rockin that sleeve!
  5. Errrr, I have hit the infamous 3 week stall. It seems way to early to experience this, it is so discouraging. In the back of my mind I am thinking I will be the only one in the world that this won't work for. I am following my diet so I guess I will try to kick up the exercise a bit. Any other suggestions?

    3 weeks of stall?

I had exactly the same situation. I stalled for 3 weeks. It seemed impossible not to lose, but then I decided I wouldn't lose unless I exercised, so at 5 weeks I started doing a little bit and increased it over time. The first 2-3 weeks I lost 20 pounds, and then nothing. I feel like those 20 pounds made me able to do more exercise than previously. The exercise got me out of the stall and now I'm not losing fast, but I have gone down several sizes- 26 to 18- 4x to 1x. I would have quit after the stall as I always did on diets, but this time I have made a commitment so I keep going! I am now at week 15, and I have lost only 40 pounds- about 2 pounds a week after the initial loss. I am just a slow loser, as I am following the diet, and it's still slow- I think some people only eat 6-7 hundred calories a day, but I wasn't losing if I ate too little. I think I need at least 1000 calories, and all my assigned amount of protein (91 grams) to lose. Maybe if I had exercised and stuck to my diet for more than a month before surgery I probably could have lost weight, but I couldn't, so now I am! Just don't get discouraged and remember this isn't magic, it's a new way of eating, and exercise! Good luck!

    Milk

Thanks for the info. With only being 2 weeks post op the sugar contents worry me. I was told to stay under 8 grams of sugar per meal so not to dump so I am super scared about the milk since it is 12 grams per cup. Any more advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.

    confused

I went back to work 2 weeks after surgery and brought a tiny Rubbermaid container with 1/4 c cottage cheese in it. A lemon greek yogurt, etc...The yogurt took me a couple of hours to finish. Just a small spoonful at a time.

    Thyroid

Hi Guys I'm a newie thinking of having a lap band - I have an appointment for the beginning of December. I have had hyperthyroidism and am currently in the realms of normality. I have had my thyroid eradicated with radio active iodine and will eventually fall into hypothyroidism. Lucky me, two autoimmune diseases for the price of one! The problem I have is that my weight is spiralling out of control and I need to do something to bring it back into line. Has anyone else with a thyroid problem been able to get a lap band done? On some doctors web pages they won't do lap band ops on people who have an underactive thyroid problem and on other sites they don't even mention it. I went down to 71kgs with hyperthroidism only to stack on weight at a rate of a speed train. I jumped two dress sizes (size 12 to 16) in two week. Stayed at a 16 for a couple of years only to fall out of control and everytime I walk into a cloths shop I have to get bigger sizes. I would love to hear from anyone else who has a thyroid problem and has a lap band or is currently scheduled for one. Regards Shimmycat;-)
  10. I'm currently 3 weeks post surgery and I'm at the point where I am afraid to eat. Mainly because I don't know about the pain and I don't want to go back to my old ways of eating all the crappy food I used to eat. So now I just don't eat at all really. Today I had a banana and my friend made me eat a grilled chicken wing. I didn't even do my protein the way I should. I'm afraid to eat and fail but I think I'm setting myself up for failure. Any advice?
  11. Hey guys I'm already ending my 3rd week post op and I'm usually a big gum chewer to help with the dryness in my mouth. Just wondering when is a good time to start chewing gum? It can be sugar free gum, I just rather chew on that when I know I'm not hungry and not forcing myself to eat which is worse. I have been sucking on mints to substitute the gum. But does anyone know when I can start ?

    Uck, Ill :(

So sad your feeling rotten! There was a nasty flu going through California last month, it seemed to hit everyone, started in the throat... sometimes went into the lungs and even the tummy for some. I had it for 3 weeks before I felt better. Luckily, the tummy was spared. Happy birthday, how you feel better soon...

    Full liquids

That's great! I had my surgery on Monday and was on clear liquids for 24-48 hours then go to full liquids as tolerated, my surgeon wants me on solids by my 2 week post op visit. I've had a lot of incision pain but I am eating egg salad in vet y tiny bites and so far so good, now I just used egg and mayo but still going well.

    Vena Cava filter

My doctor and I discussed it, but that is also because I have an autoimmune thing that makes me prone to clotting. I do have a history of DVT and my rheumatologist wanted me to be on lovenox for a week post op. But in the end I did not get the filter, nor did I have to do a week of lovenox. I just had 3 shots while I was in the hospital. Of course I never quit taking my aspirin either though, even prior to surgery. I have never heard of the requirement of being over a certain age or BMI to get a filter though and 10 days on Lovenox seems awfully long for this procedure, but I guess that is why I am not the doctor. There are so many different opinions on pre and post op dieting that I guess it stands to reason that there will be diff opinions by the surgeons on this matter too...LOL. Good Luck either way you chose.
  17. Congrats! I'm 3 weeks our. The first 4 days I couldn't stand trying to get protein drinks in and just took it very, very slowly. By day 5 something clicked and things became easier. My biggest piece of advice it to walk often - the most painful part of the surgery is just getting all of the gas out that they fill you with. On a scale of 1 to 10 my pain never hit more than a 3, which was a pleasant surprise

    hair loss

I was told to take a biotin suppliment, taking "Hair, Skin and Nails" by Schiff. Got it in the natural food section of my local grocery store. Also, protien, at least 80 grams per day. I am only 2 weeks out, so don't really know if it's going to work for me, but I have also read that women use Rogain one the hair loss has started....

    5 Days Out

I was the opposite , I could get down an entire shake ( muscle milk ) but not my water. lasted a couple weeks but now I do pretty well, maybe 2 20oz bottle of water a day and at least one muscle milk.. sometimes 2. but I am eating chicken and salmon now so I dont worry too much about it. I am awaiting my liquid vitamins now, looking forward to getting started on them. be sure to ask anything at all here, this place is great

    Morning nausea

I'm 5 weeks post op as well and I'm in the same boat! I don't have any advice, but I can certainly sympathize... The nausea seems to be a little better when I drink some skim milk or eat some yogurt first thing in the morning, but that doesn't always work.... I hope you feel better soon! *hugs*

    Curious!

I was released from te hospital after a two day stay and put on full liquids for two weeks and then two weeks of puréed. I was told I could have alcohol six weeks after surgery. They frown upon it because it's liquid calories. I am 27 years old and would like to have a glass of wine every now and again.

    After 3 Months Out....

My calorie intake varies from day to day. I also have days where I can eat way more than other days. I have mfp set at 1000 but I don't hit that most days. I'm a slow loser too but I think that's just me because I've tried mixing things up a dozen different ways. The only time I'm really losing well is when I'm getting good excercise in. I have a difficult time with that due to health issues but my goal is to really push myself to excercise at least 5 days a week.
  25. I was banded 9-1-09 (so 10 mos ago?). I have lost 130 lbs so far (YAY!!) and am the smallest I have ever been as an adult. I have done this with no fills at all. Nothing. My band is completely empty. Even the 2cc of Fluid that came in it has been removed. I had to have my port removed last Nov (3 1/2 mos post-op) due to an abcess around the port and he removed that 2cc then. So I don't have a way for my band to be adjusted, even if I wanted it. I have exceeded what my surgeon projected at my pre-op appt. He says he has had a couple of patients to have success with minimal fills, but none to have no fills.....until me. My question is this: has anyone else experienced this? I am just wondering how common this is. I am definately NOT complaining (or trying to brag)! ROFL! I watch my carbs/sugars/fats very closely and work with a trainer 3x a week. Am I just weird?
