@@Aribay1 Oh I would not do that. Fast food this early is too much. You want to find good nutrition for your new belly if possible or at least do what you said and make it your self. kFC bowl is a bunch of overly processed garbage. Try to treat your new belly as If it's a new baby. There are way better options out there. Are you only 1 week and 6 days out or did I read that wrong? That's amazing if you are and are allowed to eat that. I'm only a couple days after you and I'm still on full liquids for another whole week. Surgeons are so different lol! Anyway I hope you find something that will Keep you satisfied throughout that day. Maybe egg or tuna salad? How are your 3 meals? What are you eating and are you measuring enough out? Just be careful and don't hurt yourself! good luck!

Thanks everyone. Once again, you've calmed my fears and given my great information. I hadn't been told about the Protein first rule, but that makes a lot of sense. I just keep hearing "the weight will just fall off" and I keep expecting that, but obviously those people don't know what they're talking about.

I think there's sometimes confusion about the word "restriction" (I know it took me awhile to figure this out!) The band shouldn't be so tight that you physically can't eat, or that you're pb'ing/getting stuck. You should be feeling satisfied on less food, and staying satisfied longer...based on what you wrote, your band is doing exactly what it's supposed to! Just make sure you're following the Protein first rule, as that's what will fill you up and keep you satisfied.

The mint cookie one is so so good! It is kinda like my treat Protein shake!
-
When I get sick of the shakes I will drink a glass of Mootopia. It's a lactose free milk that has 12g of protein per cup and the chocolate is yummy.

LOL I think we all feel this way. I too drink the Premier chocolate and can't even think about drinking the vanilla anymore. I know I will puke those things. I also order from www.mybariatricpantry.com and order the mint cookie protein powder and that stuff is GOOD! You might try the Syntax nectar on this site also. They sell sample packages.

I love the Nectar shakes and look forward to them. Food makes me feel bad, bumpy, nauseous, etc. I mix Fuzzy Navel protein powder with V8 Fusion Light Peach Mango.

How did you decide on what level of BLIS Complication Protection to take
SnohoGal98296 replied to ItsMe2033's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This was an excellent question and I am in the same boat today. Did you get an answer in your research? May I ask what you ended up choosing? My surgeon offers option b included in their self pay cash price but has said I can select some add-ons from blis fir more coverage. -
I am 8 week post-op and only down 37 pounds (kind of disappointed in myself), but I have been struggling with extreme fatigue and no appetite. I have no energy to exercise and I know I am not getting my Protein in like I need to. Every whey Protein powder I can find and try tastes the same as the one before it - - nasty. I found a non-whey protein powder that body builders use that I like ok, but I am worried it will cause me to gain weight. The man at the shop swears it won't, but I don't know if I believe him. It's Nutramedz Crave Protein (mango flavor). Does anyone know if we have to use whey based powders? I have to find a way to get my protein in!! Thanks!

protein powder
Inner Surfer Girl replied to jwmoss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on the weight loss. Did your NUT provide you with a list of approved Protein shakes or give you guidelines? Many of the shakes that body builders use are high in carbs. What are the carb and protein amounts for the Protein shake you are using? I like Premier Protein, GNC Lean 25, Syntrax nectar, and ProtiDiet liquid beverage concentrates. -
anyone having any skin issues after surgery
Purrplelover replied to toy27's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Ugh, I have not even had the surgery. I swear, I am breaking out now worse than when I was a teenager. It is terrible. I think mine is the instant increase in protein intake? If it doesn't get better after surgery I am going to go to a dermatologist. -

I've been adding flavorless protein powder to things so I don't need to rely on the shakes as much.

best options for mexico
luvinmytat2 replied to mgolden1984's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I actually took out a personal loan to pay for the services. I used Lendingclub.com and got my funding in two days. It was really easy. I live in SC so I flew in to San Diego and the medical center driver picked me up upon arrival. I got in really late so when we got to the hospital I filled out a little bit of paperwork and then they took me upstairs to where they have a hotel. I spent the night in the hotel room and early the next morning they brought me down to prep for surgery. I had my surgery and spent two nights at the hospital then one other night in San Diego (only because my flight was early in the morning). I flew back on a Monday and went to work on Tuesday. I've not missed a day of work yet but I will tell you my job is fairly easy and have an assistant to do the things I can't do. You should check out medicaltourism.com and the lendingclub.com. Medical Tourism will give you several options to choose from as far as Doctors go. I chose Dr. Carmelo because the florence Hospital looks more like a US hospital. I hope this information was helpful. If you need anything else just let me know. -
Does water in protein count?
ProjectMe replied to Meghabyte's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, my surgeon & nutritionist both said that protein shakes do double duty: protein & fluid intake. -
I well mix the protein powder in cool soy milk first, then add it to the not super hot coffee while mixing with a spoon fast. It seems like the cool soy helps protect the protein enough to allow it to mix while the coffee cools down a bit from the soy.

Pre-Op diet in 2 days any pointers
SunneeHunnee replied to sakirby's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
not sure which pre-op diet you are on, but be prepared to possibly feel a little spacey and/or on the edge about the 3rd-4th day. JUst be patient with yourself, schedule yourself lightly, and make time for bubble baths, showers, or reading some books or seeing movies at home. You will be surprised how after that 4th day or so your body adjusts. DRINK Protein drinks you like the taste of. -
It's a liquid protein they told me to buy in the pharmacy at the hosp where im having surgery..they said to add 2 tablespoons to drinks 3 times daily....I was reading my post op diet papers they gave me and It didn't say to have any protein shakes the first week post op just clear liquid diet so im guessing this is taking place of the protein shakes
-
I am on my 3rd day of the liquid pre-op diet. I really need a good tasting protein shake powder, at least 30g protein. I have Chocolate Premier Protein from Sam's Club and I have to hold my nose to drink it. The aftertaste is absolutely is disgusting. I don't know why they call it chocolate as it is really shi*. Any suggestions so I can get through this 2 week period? I am trying to think out of the box but am new to this journey. Thanks---

thinning and loss of hair
kyllfalcon replied to kelkel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My hair was very thick, and in spite of crazy Protein intake and Biotin supplements, I experienced thinning hair. However, it finally stopped and it has grown back. At the time it was a major crisis - It's just a fuzzy memory now. Just give it time, it will right itself. -
I am craving preteen so much one week post op that I blended up a left over rib in my ninja. Looks awful, tastes amazing with a little mashed potatoes. :-)

thinning and loss of hair
Threetimesacharm replied to kelkel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think that you are doing all that you can. I too have fine hair and have lost enough for me to notice. I have taken biotin everyday since surgery and take all my vitamins and consume enough protein daily. I don't think that there is anything more that we can do, well except maybe buy a wig!! -
Since my surgery on 10/17/11 I get sick (diarhhea, nausea, sweats - feels like dumping syndrome) whenever I ingest protein drinks that are pre-made or powder. Thinking cow's milk was causing it, I tried using almond milk, soy milk and rice milk and still get sick so I have to think it's the whey protein causing the problem, just like you. So I have stopped using it/them and am relying more on Isopure Zero Carb and Isopure Plus for extra protein when needed. I hope the problem resolves itself eventually (I invested a lot of $ into huge protein containers - Unjury, Max Protein, Isopure Whey - as well as sugar free flavored syrups (as suggested by the world according to eggface's blog) and I hate to see them go to waste. I am eating mostly ALL protein at this point to keep my numbers up. The scale is going down so I guess it's working.

What are you eating post op?
auntjanny replied to LauraLei101's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 5.5 weeks post op (every day matters!). I am back to work and can eat a little bit of anything although raw veggies like baby carrots is not good. I am still relying on a protein drink of some sort to get in easy protein but yogurt, eggs, and chicken are my mains. For breakfast I had 1 egg and half a piece of toast. Lunch and snack will be yogurt. I have had no slime incidents, but, came close with the carrots!!
