Well it turned out, I only worked out that one time. I am so upset. My job had me so consumed, and I just couldn't let go. I was coming home 8:30/ 9:00p, with no energy to work out. One day, I didn't get to eat until after 8:30p. I was an emotional reck. The funny thing was, I really wanted to over eat, and my little stomach was not hearing that. LOL! I was mad, cause I wanted to make up for lunch and dinner. I had to really talk to myself and remind myself, that I would be okay just eating the one meal (well I had a protein shake, a banana and some yogurt, but not lunch), and my mind just couldn't shake that. I realize that has been one of my down falls, eating late as hell. I am greatful for this surgery, because I am forced to not to over eat. I am getting my mind on track with my body (slllooooooowwwwwwwwwlllllllyyy). I will be at the gym in the morning. I think your task of walking to the game was cool. Heck, you could have been dropped off. LOL! I know the other people probably would have have agreed to that, but the option could have been different none the less. Stay encouraged

did you feel any resistance when on full liquids?
GoddessNar replied to rabbitt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I have a bit of resistance right now. My doctor told me I could have yogurt so I had some last night and I think I took too big of a spoonful. I swallowed and felt pain. I had some soup yesterday and felt rather full for a while after that too. It might just be swelling, though. -
Try eating more earlier in the day. And drinking enough Water. In the meantime, I agree with focusing on a Protein snack. Greek yogurt is a good one. If possible, make some rules you don't allow yourself to break. For example, I can resist hubby's treats if I NEVER EAT THE FIRST BITE. Once I do eat that bite, it's all downhill. So I just keep telling myself it's completely off limits. It works most of the time. Try to cut down on bad (white) carbs, sugars, and oils. These foods feed microbes in our gut that then become more active and want more: http://www.theatlantic.com/health/archive/2014/08/your-gut-bacteria-want-you-to-eat-a-cupcake/378702/ Lynda

What's your diet like after your pouch heals?
Bufflehead replied to Ms. Brightside's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
1. Weight loss phase: I stayed under 800 calories for the first six months, then under 1100 calories from six months to goal. During weight loss, I was not permitted grains, starchy veggies, tropical fruits, sweets, or liquids with calories other than protein shakes. My meals were 3 small meals per day plus only protein shakes for snacks. A sample menu might be: breakfast: steak and pickle relish wrapped in romaine lettuce. Lunch: tuna salad and a couple of prunes. Dinner: scrambled egg with avocado and melted cheese. Snacks: 2-3 protein shakes. 2. Maintenance phase: I typically stay under 1600 calories. My meals are a little bigger and I do have "real" snacks. I also allow myself one serving of whole grains daily, but I still avoid starchy veggies, tropical fruits, sweets, and liquid calories -- except on very special occasions, such as Christmas. Then, all bets are off! Sample menu: breakfast: hot oat bran cereal with toasted almonds, almond butter, and cashew milk. Lunch: chicken breast and grilled asparagus salad with light champagne vinaigrette dressing. Dinner: baked salmon topped with an egg, roast cauliflower. Snacks: low cal hot cocoa, Greek yogurt, small apple, dried apricots, turkey jerky. I have lost over 200 lbs and am maintaining at a healthy weight. I continue to watch what I eat very carefully. PS this is just an aside and it is a small matter, but none of us sleevers have "pouches." That's what RNY people have. You can accurately call your stomach a stomach, or a sleeve, or a sleeved stomach, but not a pouch. Good luck to you! -
Ok March sleevers, I was sleeved on 3/15. I was on a clear broth/Gatorade/yogurt diet until Thursday..I went back to work and needed more energy so started my protein shakes. So now I am on protein shakes and yogurt...the question I have is I tried making my shake with skim milk this morning and it's giving me terrible heartburn....what are you eating? I have seen a lot of people sleeved around the same time I was who seem to have moved on to more foods...anyway, just kind of wanting to check and see what others were eating.

Unlike you, I had no fear progressing in my diet! I was literally starving on liquids only. However, I had to stay on liquids for 4 weeks. Those first bites of mashed potatoes were heaven. And the refried Beans? Like they were waiting for me their entire life! And the yogurt....need I go on? Part of being banded is trying new things to see what you can tolerate. This is one of those times you have to be open minded and move on from what you're comfortable in. Start really slowly, with maybe 6 little bites, then stop. Next meal, add another bite. 1 can of tomato Soup lasted me 5 meals a day. And a cup of mashed potatoes lasted about 4 meals also. Are you scared it will hurt or that you'll gain what you've lost back? Marci

My morning "muesli" - greek yogurt, walnuts, pumpkin, sunflower and chia seeds, cold hardboiled eggs, snall cans of salmon and tuna, babybel cheeses, cans of chick peas and three bean mix and my recent fave indulgence from the local thai restaurant - chicken satay skewers.

I've been using milk, but I didn't read the directions...so tiny and hard to see (even with reading glasses). Are you supposed to use Water???? I'm just starting my 3rd week post banding and I am too tight to eat in the morning, so I'm doing the Isopure then. I know you have to do 4 scoops in a day to get the daily allowance of Protein, however, I haven't been super careful about that at this point. I planned to really track protein beginning this week. Tonight I had a cup of yogurt mixed with 1 scoop of Isopure. P.S. Wow...I just read the part of the label I could see and was surprised to see 2 scoops does equal 50g (100& of daily allowance). The other powder I bought only has 25g for 2 scoops. Great! So we can either chug it down all at once in a single drink or I think I will do 1 scoop in the morning and 1 in the evening when I start to feel extra hungry. Does it taste okay in water?? I just ordered some of the packets too....perfect for work.

Hello - Missed U Guys
BBdoodle replied to kiwiladydee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow... I hope you start to feel better real soon. I have my protein shake for a morning snack around 10 - 10:30, it takes me a good 1/2 hour to drink. It is 64 grams of protein, then I have approximatley another 20 grams of protein, thru yogurt, cottage cheese etc. -
I was sleeved 8/3 and I concentrate on the Protein, 80-100 gms a day, 800-1000 calories a day, 64ounces of liquid, I do not always meet that, it is hard, and low sugar, low fat. am following the program. I do not eat full meals, except for dinner, a shake for Breakfast, cheese, or salad and hard boiled egg for lunch, tuna 5 oz, sometimes mixed with egg and small amounts of light mayo. Snack afternoon, sometimes yogurt and cottage cheese, and then my dinner, 4-5oz of protein, and veggies, sometimes a snack at night 1 tsp of cashew butter, sometimes prunes. I have lost including preop 42 lbs, which I think should be more, I work out and strength train,4-5 days a week, so I am doing all I can. Good luck hope some of this helps.

Confused...protein or calorie intake
MarcyLoo replied to sexyat44's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
In all honesty I'm not counting calories...because what I'm eating I know won't add up to more than I should be doing (1200-1400). I focus on protein first, with a goal of 60 gm a day. I personally don't believe protein keeps us fuller any longer than anythign else, that has more to do with how tight your band is and what consistency your food is (for how long it'll linger in the upper stomach). What protein DOES do, when you lower the caloric intake your body is used to, is cause your body to spare muscle mass and focus on utilizing enrgey from fat stores instead. If you're not meeting that protein requirement, the body will burn less fat and go to muscle instead. So, my goal is 4-5 ounces of protein three times a day (ground turkey, chicken, fish) and 1/2 cup veggies. I try to limit my carbs but do eat granola in my greek yogurt at least once a day and occasionally I'll indulge in a small amount of rice (1/4 or less). If I'm running short on protein I'll so Bariatric Addvantage powder in 8 oz nonfat milk (yum) or a Muscle milk Light (yuck). I've also done Jacks Links (?) beef jerkey cubes in a pinch, but I don't like their sodium content. -
Is It Normal To B Hungry Every 2-3 Hrs?
CHELL posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 5 wks post op n find that I'm actually hungry every couple of hrs. When I am I'm not able to eat very much and am still on soft cheese, soft fish, yogurt, eggs, etc. Is this normal or should I b worried that I'm feeling hunger so frequently. I'll add that I'm sure it's not head hunger or acid. It's actual hunger. -
Sleeved 12/19 and I am on full liquids for one week, then can have soup, eggs, potatoes, cream of wheat, yogurt, etc.

Great ideas here so far...here are a couple of mine: Breakfast: oatmeal and 1/2 banana cottage and applesauce frozen whole wheat waffle Cereal with milk (or yogurt cuz Greg swears by it!!!...don;t tell him I said so...but it IS good!!!) Southwestern EggBeaters scrambled cheese and crackers when I am in a hurry Lunch: Tuna to Go package, applesauce chicken salad and crackers Soup at hand by Campbells Dinner: this is the tough one cuz I am starving when I get home lately...waiting for a fill next week...but I try to have veggies and some kinda Protein. Need ideas.

Hi! I'm tight in the mornings, too - sometimes even oatmeal won't go down... I've resorted to cream of wheat and grits (luckily I LOVE those) and occasionally a Protein shake. Sometimes mid-morning I'll have something more solid with some protein in it, but not too often. Yogurt (I love Greek yogurt) goes down pretty easily, but I'm wary of having too many potential "sliders"... Other ideas? I'm hoping to hear more, too...

Just got advanced to mushy foods!!! What are some of your favorites!!! On them for 4weeks so I need some variety!!! I have yogurt...cottage cheese....instant potatoes....oatmeal.... squash...all my favorites. But want to know what you all ate to get through!!! Happy Happy!!

That's great Anna. There are a lot of liquids you can have at this point. Drink them slowly. You can have drinkable yogurt, Soy Slender is soy milk that's really good and low carb. It's not in the fridge section. If you like your Protein drinks, that's really great. There's also K20 protein Water. Just try to sip something a little at a time all day long.

i usually bring cold cut rollups, meatballs in sauce, grilled chicken breast, hard boiled egg with salt and pepper, mini babybel cheese or a cheese stick/string cheese, a greek yogurt with a teaspoon of sf chocolate chips to add some "dessert like quality" - could add almonds or nuts too, i'm just not cleared for those yet). so long as you have a fridge available, of course!

Getting in over 60 grams of protein
labwalker replied to Crissy A's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Lean deli meats--turkey, chicken, etc. Can you handle low fat Greek Yogurt? If you shop for yogurt you will find products that have around 100 calories, 15 grams of protein and 7 grams or less of natural sugar. Yogurt has become my go to for snack foods. It is also a tad less expensive than deli products. -
difference between mushy and soft?
Tiffykins replied to Jordien's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
eggs are mushies so whenever you're cleared for mushies or purees, you should be able to add those foods. Applesauce is a full liquid. I wasn't ever able to eat eggs even now at 16 months scrambled eggs cause some discomfort/heavy feeling. Don't push mushies, if you're having trouble getting in liquids, mushies won't help because the consistency is much heavier. I'm not sure if cottage cheese would be a full liquid or mushy because I hate cottage cheese so I never ate/eat it. Logically, if sugar-free pudding, and yogurts are full liquids then cottage cheese would fall in that same category. Just chew up the curbs to mush. -
Post op concerns- phase two foods
Beachpalacetrain posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello fellow sleevers- need some advice and encouragement. I am two weeks post op and having a real hard time with the second phase foods. Soup, yogurt, and a soft boiled egg were “god sends” after being on clears for the first week. However, after “enjoying” some of those for the first few days, I now find myself having an aversion to all of them. Just the site and thought of protein shakes, yogurt, eggs and soup makes me nauseous. Even sipping water, something that I always did prior to surgery, doesn’t interest me. Is this normal?? Have my taste buds gone through some transition along with the surgery? I’m staying the course and trying to consume at least 70-90 g of protein, but it is real difficult!!!! any advice? Is this just temporary?? Will it all change once mushy foods are allowed? Yes, weight is coming off but it sucks in there process. Thanks for you help and advice. -
Sleevers who are years out what’s your average day of eating look like?
JessLess replied to Kikikiki's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I can eat too much if I don't watch it so I count calories at 2 years out. I lose at 1,200-1,500. I've been eating too much lately and it shows. I have an apt. with my dietician so she can say... no more frozen yogurt and I can complain about it. -
2.5 months out down 50 pounds, total of 67 since preop diet 3 months ago. Breakfast: Protein shake Lunch: 4oz canned chicken breast with mayo or tuna with mayo Dinner: 3 to 4 oz fish or chicken breast with small amount of vegetable Evening snack: yogurt I drink 4 or 5-16 oz bottles of Water daily <750 calories, <30 carbs daily, >100 grams of Protein daily Not proud to say but no exercise for me.
