Tips on LBL/ Butt lift Recovery
SleeveToBypass2023 replied to Kingb40's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I'm right there with you when it comes to my arms. I need ALL the things done, but my first priorities are my neck and arms. I use Spanx right now to keep my skin in place on my thighs and stomach, so I'm not quite as worried about that right now. Second to be done will likely be a boob job (I used to be a DD, now I'm a small B). Third would likely be a tummy tuck, 4th would be a lower body lift (including butt lift). That's really the order based on priority for me. I have a ton of loose skin on my face, so I may look into that one day, but that would be well after everything else is done. -
Almost the end of the week...let's check-in!

Hey thanks for sharing with us. I just had my surgery the 14th of Feb, so I know I will have a lot of loose skin in my future. I myself just started back to work after being disabled for 2 years due to mental health and my weight. So it's a major non scale victory. It's also a field I have been wanting to get into, and they were god about finding me a client that would fit my needs. How do you like the gym classes? I am going to start hitting the pool at the YMCA for low impact workouts and build myself back into gym shape. I love the bikes too! I want to get one to ride with my bf around the neighborhood, i think it'll be a fun time. Hope you have an awesome day! -

That is how I feel and what I said to the surgeon when he was warning about the scars on the arms if I go ahead with the arm lift he proposed. I pointed out that as they are now, and have been since I remember, I would never dare to wear something that did not go to my elbow at least and if the scars turned out that bad well then so be it but at least the shape in sleeves would be better but that I would hope he would do such a good job that I would not have a roaring red scar for the rest of my life and that I would be happy to show a bit of a scar than all the loose skin I have now. Boob job is approx 10k which I don't have but it something I might start to save up for, after I have paid off the 2.8k for the arm lift. Legs he won't touch due to lymphedema so seems I will be forever stuck wearing ankle length clothing. In the meantime I have bought some new bras that give a nice shape and waiting for an order of daisy oil which has been recommended to me to help the skin elasticity so will see. -
You're looking so good! Not to give TMI, but I would love a reduction as well because I am constantly getting rashes now, especially underneath one breast, from the loose skin. Having my doctor document the issues for maybe insurance to cover it someday. And I'm so sorry about your grandma. That's so hard, and right at the holidays, too.

FINALLLYY PLASTICSS, Advice? Stories? Successes?

So I have not gotten skin removal YET but I did get a breast augmentation 3 weeks before I hit a year P.O. I lost a lot of weight, work out really hard but my boobs were gonners, between losing and gaining for years, breast feeding two children for 13m each I had skin sacs. I can honestly say that my confidence has sky rocketed- I enjoy wearing cute clothes, I feel better but body dysmorphia is a summa bi&^%, I still see myself at 300lbs, think that I look "fat" and not attractive. I do think once you see your lean fit arms without the extra skin your going to be showing them off as you should! Cant wait to see your "after" pic! -

Next goal: 169. Not being obese anymore! At 187.2 now. Anyone else have this goal next or remember hitting it?
summerseeker replied to Selina333's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I took 2 years to get to my weight of 180, then 12 months to master maintenance. I had some issues and needed surgery and my weight then dropped to 165. I thought at my age I looked shocking and so much skin. I decided to increase my weight back to 180. Just some extra cals a day did the job in 3 months. I feel better at this weight. I am living with my skin, I dont really have a choice, as I could only afford one round and I feel I would look stupid half fixed. In the UK, we wear lots of clothes most of the year and I look ok in clothes. Its just now when on holiday, I wish I could. -
FINALLLYY PLASTICSS, Advice? Stories? Successes?

Long post alert, just venting and catching up after so much time away... TLDR, I'm getting an arm lift. I want to hear from other people who got it and how it changed their body/body image, recovery, success stories, and whatever else you want to share! Wow, I haven't posted in a while. This forum got me through some dark times when I had my gastric bypass both before and after. I am posting today because I am FINALLY getting some plastics done. I have been waiting a while because I wanted to maintain my weight. I just turned 30, I'm not getting any younger and I've been doing excellent maintaining my weight loss so I finally scheduled a brachioplasty to start. I am getting an arm lift in other words. I included a pic of my arm and the skin hang-age. This is my before. Disclaimer, this pic is from a couple months ago it's the one I had handy on my desktop but I've been doing a lot of weight training and have built up my bicep a bit more. I would like to do a tummy tuck too (I have A LOT of loose skin in an apron belly shape and my boobs sag down to my ribs 😕 ) but I am okay with not getting it for now. I can't afford both and don't really have the time to recover from all that surgery. I am starting with just the brachio for now. I have spent my whole life hiding my body and after losing all this weight, I found I am concealing it even MORE because of how droopy and flappy everything has gotten. I am fed up of feeling uncomfortable in my own skin after all the hard work I put in. I'm sure a lot of people who get plastic surgery post-major weight loss can relate to this. At this point it feels like a necessity. My bat wing arms also smack against my body like crazy, I can't wear short sleeves without this happening and tops do not fit me right because of my wonky proportions. My bicep has very little fat on it and all the bulk on my arm is hanging under it so it's very uncomfortable. I've been holding off because of how expensive it is as well. I am paying out of pocket 15k and it's a chunk of my savings but I'd rather have this than a payment plan and I can start ASAP to recoup my savings. I have a lot of body image issues as one does from being morbidly obese their whole life... so honestly I am almost 100% sure this surgery is NOT going to fix the way I see myself. I am more looking at it as a way to feel more comfortable on a day-to-day basis whether I am exercising or just trying to wear a short sleeve outfit in this very hot state I live in. So that's basically my update. I have been doing well, maintaining my weight loss and a healthy lifestyle. Gastric bypass has completely changed my life and made it so much easier to make better choices for my body and my longevity. I am ready for the arm lift and I am so scared but also excited to see how this all goes. I want to hear from other people who got an arm lift or any loose skin removal and how the recovery went for you and how it helped you and your confidence. Thanks and you're all wonderful people! -
Do share with us your skin removal journey!!! Best wishes! It is a game changer for any massive weight loss who retains a lot of excess skin to keep one positive, on track and motivated forward at any age. Just had my arms done in October 2024. Initial sleeve December 2018. I turned 65 May 2024.

Almost the end of the week...let's check-in!
Bypass2Freedom posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I haven't done this for a while, but I thought I'd check in with everyone! Tell me what's going on - the good, the bad, anything! Use this as a space to just chat! I've been regularly attending classes at the gym now, and I also do weight training & some cardio at the gym at work. I have just got a bike too so will start going on bike rides with my dad soon I hope! With that being said, my weight loss has definitely slowed down and I am sitting at 11st 8lbs with little wiggle room, but that is okay! It'll pass I am sure! I am now at that stage where people have gone from saying: "oh wow you look amazing", to: "There is nothing left of you" or "you're skin and bones". I always find that really weird, like why are you commenting so much on my body 🤣 Little do they know I am hoarding ten tonnes of loose skin under my clothes 😭🤣 I cannot wait to get some of that sorted out in the future. TMI here but OH MY GOD my boobs are like scary-looking...I find myself wondering if they will reach new lows 🤣 Has anyone else experienced quite bad eye-bags and blackness under the eye following massive weight loss? I feel that I am sleeping more than enough, but my eyes just look sunken and dark and it is to the point people are commenting on it! Help 🤣 Hope everyone is well ❤️ -

Agreed, especially since they utilize (if you authorize it) the excised skin for burn patients etc. So, the medical community is getting something at no cost, even at a profit from not only our skin, but that of the person/S needing the skin! -
Plastics Referral via NHS
Scamp replied to Bypass2Freedom's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I tried to go via the NHS route and I was refused - I went for stomach I think it was at the time and if i recall they refused me as I had my hernia fixed already. 😕 Though I am glad I as refused now because in going privately I found an amazing surgeon and I am sooooo happy with my results of the ops I had over a decade ago - I had an amazing surgeon in Kent (Not sure he still works in Kent tho he is here https://martinjones.org.uk/ I feel going privately you are able to talk more about what you want to achieve and really feel heard, you are not rushed and if you feel at ease with your surgeon, you can say 'I need this' as I did - And get what you asked for, even if he had never done this op before as in my case when he found it in a book for the outer thighs as inner thigh surgery had not tackled the problem of sitting in a puddle of skin) I think when I first saw him he thought I was a head case as I was in tears - Losing weight after being fat all your adult life is a very emotional thing and to be honest I was a different human after the surgery than I was on the day I met him. I had lost a ton of weight, and had a lot of skin to remove and over a couple of years he took such a lot of skin off 🙂 There are some pictures on this site - But am happy to update any pictures if you need any, and tell you what happened in the Ops I had... He is very much a perfectionist and exceeded by a million percent what I expected from the operations after seeing things on TV and on many sites. If I ever needed an op like these again I would always want to go to him, as his work is amazing... -
Honestly I have no idea what actual size I was. I was only wearing sports bras pre-op but had a whole lot of loose flesh. Just empty sacks of skin really. Mine are the “gummy bear” type of silicone implant, and were placed under the muscle.

Good morning, I have just been approved to have the lose skin removed off my stomach on May 5th. I am really excited and scared at the same time. Looking to see what I should have at home to help with the surgery and recover.. I am looking for the good and the bad..

Anyone experience any benefits with green tea ???
summerseeker replied to Dub's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Nope tea wont make you loose an ounce. A bit off topic, I have never drunk tea, the one cup I remember drinking was after giving birth. It was sweet and wet and I was drained. I saw as a child what tea did to my parents cups, yuck, no thanks. I drank the only other thing available, corporation pop. 1950's english slang for water. Them days, coffee came in liquid form called Camp Coffee. It was made from chickory. One time mother was ill and dad made a meal and used this as gravy browning. {we like brown gravy here} We ate it because it was this or nowt. It was a week till mother worked out what we actually ate. So, after my rambling, I come to the point. Here I am sat in Greece drinking Iced Peach tea like it was going out of fashion. How my tastebuds have changed. This will defo not make me loose weight as it comes with a lump of baklava at this bakery. It would be rude not to. -
How did your plastics go? I have had several procedures to trim excess skin, breast and arm reductions with fabulous results. You?

My hair goes to my navel. This is going to get interesting. My mother in law uses a hair powder at her roots to dye the scalp to reduce the bald look. It helps. I agree that dark is worse for white skin as the contrast is obvious. Anyone try a hormone blocker like finasteride on the scalp during this? I wonder if that would work.

Men’s and women’s bodies are different, but for reference—I started at 297 lbs and am now between 165–170 lbs. I went from a size 20 to a size 4 in pants and from a 3X top to an XS–S. I do have loose skin, but it’s not as bad as it could’ve been because I started strength training about 3 months post-op and never stopped. I’ve always made cardio a priority too. Here’s what my weekly workout routine looks like: 2 upper body days 2 lower body days 1 full-body HIIT (with weights) 1 cardio-only day Even on my lifting days, I still include some form of cardio—walking, Stairmaster, biking, or whatever I’m in the mood for that day. It keeps things balanced and helps me stay consistent in my fitness journey. My biggest advice is really take that time to get your relationship with food in check, even though I'm in maintenance mode, I still have issues sometimes with binging- just being truthful- but I am able to control it and get myself in check the next day. Pre-op I would've just given up and kept the binge fest going. Stick to foods that you know you enjoy but also fuel your body. Track! I know its not for everyone but it sure helps me stay accountable. No diet is perfect, its not a thing- the main thing is if you fall off track dust yourself off and get back at it!

What to do, am in a very difficult situation with my weight and options
summerseeker replied to Angieee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you opted for the surgery - you would loose weight for sure. BUT once at target you would still need to increase your calorie levels to a maintenance amount. Without much exercise my maintenance level is around 1500 - 1600 cals a day. To eat more I would need to increase my exercise drastically or I would gain. So when you maintain on similar calories, you will gain if what you say is true. If that is so, baritric surgery is not a fix for you. -
I echo all the above. Patience, you won't loose every week. You will stall a lot. Use the knowledge on this site. Ask anything and someone will have had that issue. Chapstick, laxatives and Biotin. Lack of liquids does terrible things to our bodies. Dry lips are bad. Waking with a dry mouth is scary. Going over a week without pooping is hurty.

Tips on LBL/ Butt lift Recovery
Crisscat replied to Kingb40's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I remember you!!!! We had gastric sleeve the same day lol. You've done very well with your progress. I see you had to go to a bypass after the sleeve. I got really discouraged because with my sleeve I lost 52 lbs and that was it. I couldnt budge off that. I didnt want to have the bypass done as well so I just bummed around and got discouraged. Gained like 12 lbs and by January 2024 I was seeing another Dr to see if Zepbound would be beneficial for me or not. I started Zepbound by the end of Jan 2024 and so far I have lost an additional 72 lbs so its working better than the sleeve did. So much so I have all this loose skin now to deal with lol. Good to see your posts again! -
sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but lose enough weight and the butt will follow the same deflated path as the boobs. le sigh. i mean you could do a whole lotta squats and leg lifts and bridges, but unless you gain the exact same muscle mass in volume as you the fat you lost, you are gonna see some excess skin. i've been doing some dedicated butt work, and yes, when i flex i get a little bit of a nice bumpy "portrusion", but my extra skin is draped over it! lololzzz... if i'm feeling adventurous, i'll see if i can post of pic of what i'm taking about. ha! in any case, loose skin or not, deflated boobies and saggy bottoms, if you feel good, it really doesn't matter. cuz when you feel good, it projects outwardly. (and p.s., its projecting in your case ❤️)
