  1. I joined a gym near my house but can't bring myself to go becuase I feel to fat. I know it's stupid but these are the thoughts I have. I started on the scale at 310 and have been between 277-281 for two weeks or so...frustrating. I'm just so anxious to see myself thin and feel the energy that comes with it that I stress myself out. I just want to see more weight come off but I guess I have to start working out to see more results. I do thank God that I haven't had any complications to date. I know things could always be worse. On Friday when I met with my surgeon I told her I thought that the first fill she gave me must have not gone in my port because I felt nothing and felt like I could've eaten a horse.

    Any suggestions!

  2. I've been good. Just working... A LOT! Thanks for the picture comment. I've been hitting the gym like twice a day. It has become routine for me now. However, I think I'm beginning to plateau with the weight loss, so I am going in for another fill next week.

  3. Hello, 3 days left! How are you doing? How is the pre op diet going? I've lost 6lbs so far. Tomorrow a.m. I go to the pre surgery consult. I'm excited and nervous. This is the 1st time ever that I've been put under and my 2nd surgical procedure. (c section was the 1st) I'm kinda freaked out! But moving forward.

  4. Yea I just got back actually. They didn't find anything. They wanna do an mri on my shoulder and if they don't find anything that way they wanna do a scope through my navel. It sucks. The only positive was that I lost 3 more lbs!!

  5. Hi there! I hope you had a good vacation. I have not been on here for a few days but a lot has been going on. I saw Ashley a week ago Friday and she is wonderful. I had my sleep study that same night. That was different. I didn't think I had apnea and as it turns out I don't. This past Friday I had the upper GI and am pleased to say that it was not as bad as I was expecting. For some reason I thought they would put a scope down my mouth, but it was just an xray type machine as you drink the lovely barium.

  6. Best Of Luck Cheryl, It's been near a week for me, and I'm STILL glad i did it! You'll do great with that wonderful Husbands help!

  7. You look amazing. Congratulations on your success. I think exercise makes a big difference in how the body looks during weight loss (even though the amount of weight lost is about the same for those who exercise and those who do not exercise). I, like you, exercise 3-4 days/week. I love exercise especially now that the weight is coming off. Can't wait to see more of your success photos.

  8. Have you gotten a date yet? Don't hesisate to call and nag your insurance!! I did and I got a date in less than a week. As of today I have lost 99lbs... I am soooo close to 100!

  9. Hey Kenzie!

Nice to meet you and I am glad to help! I know when I was at your stage I wanted to find women my age to see if it really was working... and it does. I've been over wieght my whole life and obese for the last 17 years. I had given up hope . As of today I have lost 99lbs!! The band is working better than I dreamed!! The 3 monthes will go by quickly. The things I learned during the 3 monthes have really helped me out. My friends who did self pay with no couseling have not had the success that I (and others with couseling) have seen. I assumed that insurance was stalling, however, I learned a lot during that time. Please let me know if you have any questions or just want to vent!!

  10. Let's just say the first week I hardly got any liquids in. My stomach just felt full all the time. Today is the first day I really felt hunger. I got a little worried about that because I'm on pretty much a regular diet now. I feel great today, so hope that continues!!

  11. Yeah I'm pretty tired as well, it takes me about 2 hours to drink my multivitamin so I'm going to change to a tablet lol and I'm usually exhausted by 8.30 and I used to go to bed around 10.30, pain lessens everyday which is great, take some painkillers before I go to bed just in case and then don't need to take them for about 3 hours after I wake up - I'm worried about taking too many of them actually. How about you, the pain bad at all? For me when I woke up my stomach was contracting and it really hurt but luckily they gave me the good stuff =)

  12. I am actually getting it done in Mexico... so I am really nervous but I guess I would be anywhere I went!I don't really have a pre-op diet except clear liquids the day before than nothing the night before... I am in school right now for nursing, but I will be working as a CNA this summer and won't really start the manual labor til 2nd week of june. I wanna be around 135 or 140... how bout u how are u feeling?

  13. Congratulations!!! I'm happy for you, you are going to start to see great changes! i so wish I could just have the surgery already. I just found out that there might be a 3 month waiting list for my surgeon. UGH!!

  14. Nope - I had to wait too!! 1 month before the first fill, 2 months before the 2nd fill and 3 months before the 3rd fill (which will be in July for me). We're all the same. ;)

Good seeing you today! You look great!

  15. I had another fill on Monday and boy do I feel the restriction i told my doctor that with the first fill i was doing good then after two weeks i was eating allot i mean allot that I gain 3lbs OMG i was like WTF but he said it was normal Im like to who?? So I started going to the gym too im so so sore.

    WOW 5lbs thats good

  16. Hi there well the fill must have worked because i losted 3 pounds so i have now losted 37 pounds!!!! So Excited!!!!!Hopefully i can do it again next week !!!!

  17. Hey! No it wasn't. I got all excited because I lost 3 lbs in a week and then 2 lbs the next week but I only gained 1 lb and I'm back on track this week looking to lose that lb plus the next 2. So I'm down 4 lbs from my last fill on the 25th of April so I'm on track. My average is 2 lbs a week. How's the liquid diet coming along? Just think 1 more week! What hospital is your surgeon doing it in? I had to go down to Harper University Hospital (part of the DMC complex) in Detroit.

  18. Thats a good one!!!You know I have never thought about it but I haven't crossed my legs since I got down to about 205 that was about 3 years ago. I try it now and again but I must say mission impossible...lol.. As I get this weight down I will hit you back and let you know how its coming.

  19. Hi Anya. I totally understand. I have a little restriction. It is getting very hard to eat solid food too early in the morning. I can't eat until I am up for atleast 2 hours and at work already. I was supposed to go in today to get my second fill, but like you said, he is out of the office for a few weeks. So.. I see the nurse pract. this Thursday. I have not lost any weight from the first fill, but I have not gained either. I am pretty sick right now though. My allergies have turned into a full blown upper respiratory infection. I am bound to lose a few pounds from this just because food is NOT appetizing at all. I can't taste anything!!! I am sorry you are having a hard time. Just do your best but don't be too hard on yourself. The weight loss and restriction will all come in due time. Good luck. Take Care.

  20. Well doctors baptista and cwyes do lap band and the realize band. I prefer the lap band but I think it's just because it has been around longer. Like I said I LOVE that they give you the choice. The pre-op diet is basically the same as the adkins diet and you can only have 3 meals a day... zero snacking. Then saturday and sunday before surgery you have to go on a clear liquid diet but you will be on it post op to... so guess it makes sense to accept it before hand. The show you pictures and educate you on what happens if you don't follow the pre-op diet, give you their cell phone numbers and help you through the whole process. As of yesterday I am down 8 lbs since my last visit which was on 4/29... I am so excited to be on my way! :) So never fail you can have everything you want without the novis center. You can have the realize band with them :) Let me know if you have any more questions. :)

  21. As for exercise, I've been doing walking but it tires me out. Made the hubby take me to the mall to walk yesterday. I don't have to be back to work until next Monday since Dr. Chua's office said to stay off at least a week and I don't have my appoinment until Thursday (was originally scheduled on Friday). Luckily I have STD to cover.

  22. i just want you to know...that i am starting to get hungry and i have the rest of the week to continue being on liquids. i live by myself, so i understand what you're going thru. i wanna lay down so bad but it kills me to sit up...so the majority of the time i just sit up. but the pain is going away, its not as bad as it was...thank god...but every now and again i feel pressure where that port is...but it goes away quickly.

  23. Hi Dionne!

21 lbs.! Hooray for you! That is awesome! I go today for my second fill (hopefully). It's been 5 weeks and I have lost an average of 1 lb. a week, so I hope they give me a bit more. **Fingers crossed** I have had a few episodes with things getting stuck too and F. Fries on the the top of the list! Darn it! I use the chewable vitamins now, tried the liquid and couldn't stomach it! Blahhhh! 16's getting loosier on me too! So excited! You are right, the confidence boost is amazing! I am loving it! Can't wait to see what happens next! Here's to success girl!! : )~

  24. I honestly do not stick to calorie intake. I do however watch my carb intake. But not so much calorie. I eat tofu at least 4 times a week. (I know I hear you all already ewh.... tofu. don't knock it till you try it the right way). I make stir fry dishes using tofu and if we are having chinese at work I order tofu. I love the maximum protein from GNC. However it's expensive. Vitamin shop is cheaper and you can buy any protein, take it home, try it, and if you don't like it you can return it. I also recommend greek yogurt. It is called Fage. It kinda tastes like a sour, sour cream but it has like 18grms of protein in 1cp. I add one sweet and low to it. I have a 4cc band and I am at at least 3.7. I get fills and unfills often, so I can no where my optimal restriction is. I have realized it changes with weight loss.

  25. Hi AN~ (ok?)

For me it was pretty painful... not totally unbearable, but enough to get the pain medication every 3-4 hours.

I was up walking about 3 hours post-op. Walking really helps.. It's true! I was banded Friday 5-8-09 and I feel much better but still some pain in my lower abdominal area (can you say gas??) and turning in bed it a bitch. I had to take some liquid vicodin this AM for the 1st. time. I went right back to sleep on my port side... So we shall see how the next few days go.. I'm very excited. Take care.

    P.S. Are you banded yet?
