Awesome NSV to Share My Changes with Others!
livvsmum posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
So I'm super excited. I teach at a University, and I had a Psychology professor with whom I am friends on facebook, etc. come up to me yesterday and tell me that my story and weight loss journey has been such an inspiration to her to watch. She teaches the Psychology of Change and asked me if I would come to her class as a guest speaker and talk to the students about what motivated me to change and what has maintained the motivation for the long-term changes for almost 3-years now. It's not so much about surgery, because, let's face it, surgery is the tool that got things started, but whether or not we choose to make long term changes to be successful is up to us. Anyway, I digress. I was super excited and flatter that she invited me to speak on my changes, and I'm hopeful that i can motivate someone else to get healthy! keep up the hard work! You never know who is watching you and being inspired! -
NSV + "oh my goodness" moment!
Elode replied to Elode's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Oh AND I was telling someone else this too but last week I had another NSV! Those dang bleachers. Back when I was fat there is NO WAY I would try to squeeze my big self past people on those things. Now I have no problem walking my skinny no butt having a** right past them to get a good seat! Right down the middle! Not one shit given! -

@@katladee Thank you so much! I did wear those legging, out of the house and in public and everything! First time in public. I think this summer I'm going to pass those boots of. Like the traveling pants on boots. They were my first NSV. The one I wanted the most and now they're too big around the legs but I still love them. They need to go to someone else on this journey who will love them as much as I do/did. -

My brothers and I don't get together very often but we were all there for our Mum's 70th birthday. My older brother has always been a very big man but all I have heard for a couple of years is how much weight he has lost. My younger brother has always been tall and whippet thin. well, this time (and forever more) I was the skinnier sibling! Yay for my band.

Not sure if this is a NSV or an insult
shakey88 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a teacher at a high school and a student today says to me as I am walking down the hall and I quote "You are gettin skinny. You on crack?" I was like thanks for the compliment and insult at the same time! I did laugh though and was happy that he has noticed my hard work. -

;)NSV of sorts! -
I've been a little reserved over the whole dreaded "3 week stall" and so I am trying to encourage myself. This is what occurred to me: 1) I haven't weighed in 3 days (YAY for me) Does that count as a NSV or is it an anti-NSV? lol 2) I have successfully gotten ALL my Protein in since the day I started Protein drinks and am now able to do it with only 1 Protein shake per day They aint fancy, but I'll take 'em!

dont' get discouraged. everyone is different and loses weight at diff pace and diff people had different reactions to the surgery. in my case, i lost lots of weight in my first three weeks because i had severe mouth ulcers as reaction to the antibiotics. it was so painful, i could not even swallow my saliva without crying. i hardly drank anything but Water and honey because everything else is way too painful. Personally, i'd rather lose less weight and not suffering the ulcers for two weeks straight. I think you are doing great. you're committed to exercises and all. just stop weighing yourself so much i suppose. make a list of nsv's...... good luck and i hope you're feeling better!

I had to share and y'all on this site are truly the only people that would understand. Today I bought concert tickets for August 2013. I'm hoping to be sleeved in February 2013. Up until now I would have made an excuse not to go because I know I would never fit in freaking seat!! But today I am certain that by August I will not only fit in the seat comfortably but I'll be able to walk up and down the arena stairs without embarrassing myself. So excited!!

How long does port pain last???
kphoping replied to asho_26's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well they released me from the hospital and the doctor is still standing by his decision that where the port was stitched on the muscle, that muscle is having spasms. I am going to my surgeons office tomorrow to see if he can provide anymore information. One good NSV occurred I was removed off of my high blood pressure medication. I will keep you posted. -
What a week! Well I have had an exhausting week! I went back to work on Monday! OH BOY! I have so much catching up to do (Paperwork)! I must tell you how nice it is though; I went back to work and the folks (developmentally/intellectally challenged) were so happy to see me! They showered me with hugs and kisses! It made me feel so good to know I make that much of an impact on their lives! I am so happy to get back into routine and I missed work so much! It is just great to be back! So let's get to business! This pic over here on the left is me last week! I took this pic and was amazed at what I saw! I was looking at this pic and feeling proud of all the things I went through to get to this point! Going through everything I did... it was a HUGE eye opener! It really makes you cherish life for what it is worth! I went to the Lung Dr. this week! I have a major NON scale VICTORY (NSV)... I am no longer on my inhalers for Asthma! This is HUGE! HUGE!!! My numbers are excellent! My Dr. could tell I was exercising cause my pulse and blood pressure were much lower than they ever had been! I am so much HEALTHIER! That is all I wanted out of all this! To be Healthy! Guess what.... I AM! I must tell you how much I have missed "FOOD"! I am stickin to my healthy lifestyle though and making good choices! I am actually eating a meal! Not a few bites; A MEAL! I am still trying to stear clear of the Carbs!!! Those are my worst enemy! Cause I love them oh so much! I have been walking! EVERY DAY I walk! I am now up to 3 miles a day! It takes me about 45 minutes to walk! But boy it feels GREAT! I love the rush it gives me; the way I feel after! It really makes me proud to know I can walk 3 miles! Then I come home and do a bit of resistance bands for some toning! I am getting into a great workout routine! This week was my first week really doing this on my own again! Back to Weight Watchers! So I really thought I would have gained because of the amount of food I had been eating! I lost .6 this week! I keep thinking to myself it is better than NOTHING!!! But I guess because I was so used to the big weight losses every week, I was a bit bummed! I feel good though! I am proud of myself! A total of 89.4!! Wooo Hooo Well I hope everyone is doing well! I have been so busy I am really falling behind on blogging! I haven't read blogs in about a week! Shame on me! Well till next time! Take care and stay healthy! ~Mandy

Nobody recognizes me. Starting to get old...
sleepingarby replied to gowalking's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have gotten the double takes and shock responses. I tend to take it all in stride. I guess I don't really care what people think of the changes, I know I am on a journey and I have not reached my destination. I have achieved many NSV's and that has been the best reward possible. I am comfortable in my stretched out skin and I am still the same me on the inside. I still love, cry, fear, dream, throw tantrums (rarely), but I do it in smaller sized jeans. Maybe I am just used to people being people and reacting how they will. I choose to be happy. Hope this helps. Love my Band family -
Ok I am over it now..... plateau
LapBandFan replied to LapBandFan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for your encouragement Vinesqueen and LaMadam. Guess I need to quit focusing on the scales so much. I am comparing me to the first year of surgery and was losing about 15-18 lbs per month that first go around before my revision surgery. Thanks again, and I will try to focus on how my clothes are feeling loose and the NSV that are still showing up. This board is great for support, thanks so much for listening to me whine! -
Out 12 Days....,,frustrated!
Lissa replied to Kthump's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kthump, Search for 3 week stall, although it sounds like yours may be starting a little early. Especially if you lost a good bit of weight on the pre-op diet, the stall kicks in and you may not lose anything for several days. It is normal, natural, and it will pass. Theories abound, but I think it's our body's way of readjusting to all the changes after surgery. You have gone from eating whatever you like to barely putting any calories in and your body says "Whoa!" The weight loss will resume, but this is a great time to measure yourself and see the changes in your size/shape that are going on. I walked out of my first size lost during a stall. I hadn't dropped anything pound-wise in days, then I put on my work pants and they fell to the floor. That's a big WOW moment, and it happened when I thought I wasn't losing anything. Look for the NSVs (non scale victories) and pay attention to the inches lost, especially during stalls. The stalls will happen, but they usually mean that you're losing inches as things adjust themselves. good luck!! -
Yay libra!! Being able to wear knee high leather boots has been one of my fave NSV's so far! I feel so HOT when I wear them!
